The Bryant Minute with John Hope Bryant of Building the Good Life podcast sponsored by Credential Financial. I want you to commit from this day forward, from this day forward, to decide you're gonna win the battle, and not just the war. From this day forward, from this day forward, I don't want you rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic of your life. Why are you arguing with somebody
who does not matter about a topic. They do not understand you on a vision, they do not see about a plan they do not understand and have not developed yours. Why are you arguing with that person? To argue with a fool proves there are too step move, keep it moving, focus on your dream. Life's about how you respond, how you respond, how you respond respond by believing in yourself. Folks say that you won't make it. Folks say that the barriers are too high. Folks say discrimination will kill you.
So why trying all that's wrong. I'm gonna give you a formula to day that over the round it, through it. No matter what is coming at you, you'll get to it. Here is your formula to succeed. Write this down. There are five pillars of success. This is from my book Up from Nothing. Number one as much educations you can shove down your throat. Once you have it, no one can take it from you. Number two. Understanding the math,
financial literacy, how wealth works. Even if you want to distribute money like a socialist, you've got to first collected like a capitalist. Understand where wealth comes from. Because if you're poor, you can't help anybody help themselves. You gotta give to yourself first. And we live in a capitalist democracy, but it is a capitalist democracy. Understand what wealth creation is and how to produce some for yourself. It starts
with financial literacy. That's number two. Number three family structure and resiliency. Number four Self esteem and confidence. Those two things are different. You're confident because you're competent. You're good at what you do. You're good at work. You're good being a homemaker. You're good being a domestic engineer, a mother or a father at home. You're good raising children. You're good as an environmentalist. You're good as an engineer.
You're good as an attorney. You're good as a trash collector. What did doctor King say, if you're a trash collector, be the best trash collector. The world's ever seen be excellent at it. So if you're competent, you'll have confidence, but that doesn't mean you have high self esteem. Think about it. Self esteem is how you esteem yourself. If I don't like me, I'm not gonna like you. If I don't feel good about me, I'm not gonna feel good about you. If I don't respect me, don't expect
me to respect you. If I don't love me, I don't have a clue how to love you. And here's a big one. If I don't have a purpose in my life, I'm gonna make your life a living hell. Because whatever goes around comes around. That's self esteem, and not enough of us esteem ourselves. That's why the world's all screwed up. Half of us are depressed and being manipulated and preyed upon by so called leaders who are
praying on our fears and our insecurities. The Bryant Minute with John Hope Bryant of Building the Good Life podcast sponsored by Prudential Financial. Listen to the full Building the Good Life Podcast with John Hope Bryant on the I Heart Radio app
