Buddhism Guide

Yeshe Rabgyewww.yesherabgye.com
This podcast is pragmatic, secular and makes complicated Buddhist principles easy to understand. Yeshe is a Buddhist Monk from England, and teaches Buddhism, meditation, mindfulness and mental well-being in various countries around the world. He offers teachings freely to all in a manner that is unpretentious and clear. He does not demand students to blindly accept what he says, but instead invites them to examine their own minds and experiences to discover the validity of Gautama Buddha’s teachings. You can find his guided meditations at 'Buddhism Guide Meditations.'

Can we be reborn?

I personally feel rebirth is one of the most unclear aspects of Buddhism. So, here I will try to explain it from my personal point of view. Of course, others will disagree, and they will have to fight their own corner. This is how I see it. The Five Spiritual Strengths

To enhance and accelerate your progress on your spiritual path, you should train and develop these five strengths and implement them into your daily life. The strengths are taken from the seven-point mind training practice, and they will help build true and lasting compassion within you. The five strengths are strong determination, familiarization, seed of virtue, taming the ego and aspiration. Can We Forgive The Unforgivable?

When you have lost a loved one through a terrorist act, a drunken driver or any other act of violence, how do you forgive the unforgivable? Does forgiveness mean we just accept what has happened and we surrender to defeat? No, I don’t believe it does. Forgiveness is not about helplessly accepting, giving up, surrendering to defeat, being weak or avoiding justice. It is about how you respond to the terrible wrong and how you can let go of the past and move forward with your life. My latest book '...

The Eightfold Path - An Audio Blog Compilation

This is a compilation of several episodes of Buddhism Guides podcasts. This compilation is on the eight-fold path, which is the path leading to the end of suffering. It was Buddha's first teaching and it still remains one of the most important teachings in Buddhism. The teaching is not only still relevant, but also easily implemented into today's world. As this is a compilation of several podcasts, the sound quality differs between the tracks - I apologise for this.

A Sense of Self

In Buddhism, one of the most difficult teachings for people to understand is anatman or non-self. The doctrine states that in humans there is no permanent entity that can be called a self or a soul. This denial of “any Soul or Self” is what distinguishes Buddhism from other major religions, such as Christianity and Hinduism, and gives Buddhism its uniqueness. This sense of being a permanent, solid, autonomous self is an illusion. The problem is this illusion doesn’t fit in with our ordinary expe...

Mindful Communication

I believe social media has replace our ability to communicate in an honest and thoughtful way. Social skills we once learned by having a face-to-face conversation have been diminished. We seem to have lost the capacity to be thoughtful and kind. We don’t seem to be able to give our opinions without being disrespectful to one another. This is where mindfulness can help us improve our digital communication skills.

Understanding non-dual awareness

This is a special episode and is recorded live at the Prajna Meditation Centre in Northern India. It is a difficult teaching but Lama Yeshe explains it in his easy to understand teaching style. Our lives are built on assumptions. We assume the world is exactly as we’ve been taught and that our personal memory speaks the truth. For the most part, our lives are virtual, a projection of the mind. We’re so busy with our conceptual lives that we fail to truly experience the here and now. In other wor...

Thought Transformation Part Two

The Eight Verses of Thought Transformation is an important text from Tibetan spiritual writings known as lojong (mind training). The root text was written by the eleventh-century meditator Langri Tangpa Dorje Senghe. These verses explain how we can see life through the eyes of compassion, and not through our self-cherishing ego. The more we meditate on thought transformation, the more compassionate we become. You meditate on these verses by reciting each verse and then pausing to contemplate its...

How To Reduce Your Suffering

In Buddhism, there is a practice called Mind Training and within this practice there is a section on reducing one’s suffering. Now, suffering here means a dissatisfaction with life, an unease, a discontentment and a feeling that life could be better. The following four methods are described in mind training as the best way to stop the suffering of all beings, and bringing them, and ourselves, happiness. Of course, we have to be realistic and understand that life is not always going to be happy, ...
