[SPEAKER_03]: episode two hundred and one. [SPEAKER_03]: Today we recap the red series and preview the upcoming series. [SPEAKER_03]: First the Milwaukee Brewers. [SPEAKER_03]: You're listening to the Bucco Banner podcast brought to you by the Just Baseball Media Network. [SPEAKER_03]: Key to music. [SPEAKER_01]: Adam, welcome back to another episode of Buckebanner. [SPEAKER_01]: We're at two or one now, which seems kind of crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: Looks like very successful weekend at the ballpark.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just got back from a weekend away. [SPEAKER_01]: Definitely feeling foam up and trying to fall along as much as possible, seeing all the cool interviews you guys secured during the weekend and everything you were able to do at the ballpark. [SPEAKER_01]: So definitely feeling some foam up, but yeah, man, we have some baseball to talk about. [SPEAKER_03]: Some baseball. [SPEAKER_03]: It was a fun weekend, but some baseball. [SPEAKER_03]: We saw Keep Ryan Hayes on his return back.

[SPEAKER_03]: He said it was nice to see us. [SPEAKER_03]: He believed that. [SPEAKER_03]: It was nice to see us. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nice to talk to you for the first time. [SPEAKER_03]: It not talked. [SPEAKER_03]: There was once in Pittsburgh. [SPEAKER_03]: One time. [SPEAKER_01]: It didn't actually look like he recognized you as. [SPEAKER_03]: Dude, he was like our best friend. [SPEAKER_01]: No way. [SPEAKER_03]: Crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That's something, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's something. [SPEAKER_03]: He was so nice. [SPEAKER_03]: He was so personable. [SPEAKER_03]: He took time out. [SPEAKER_03]: We appreciate the interview. [SPEAKER_03]: Said it was nice to see us. [SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, same, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: I was at a wedding last night and you texted me and I almost spit my drink out. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh my god, my girlfriend's like, what's going on? [SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to Diba.

[SPEAKER_03]: The field was clearing out. [SPEAKER_03]: He was the last one to take batting practice and I'm like, we got to give it a shot. [SPEAKER_03]: One more time for just old time six. [SPEAKER_03]: I was like, it's maybe a two percent chance to talk to us. [SPEAKER_03]: And man, did he want to talk? [SPEAKER_03]: It was awesome. [SPEAKER_03]: It was great. [SPEAKER_03]: But I was very confused about the whole situation.

[SPEAKER_03]: Because before I was just like, you know what, he didn't want to be here. [SPEAKER_03]: He didn't want to talk to us. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's just let bygones be bygones. [SPEAKER_03]: And now I'm a very confused individual when it comes to how I feel about keep Ryan Hayes. [SPEAKER_03]: I really, the video, I just sent you a little bit of a rough edit. [SPEAKER_03]: Pretty good. [SPEAKER_03]: Pretty good. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was good.

[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like he was really engaged and yeah, that was a good question. [SPEAKER_01]: We got to mix it up. [SPEAKER_01]: I know we've been doing a lot of Mount Rushmore's and stuff like that, but there's some some teams coming in that were really excited to talk to in the coming weeks. [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll definitely have to brainstorm some questions. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you have ideas, let us know.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we talked to Jose Trevino another really good interview and then [SPEAKER_03]: a good guy really good guy and then Tyler Stephenson also awesome guy spent a lot of time with him talking but it was hot at the ballpark we gave away a lot of stuff split the series with the reds kind of the same old same old like let's let's get right into it didn't slug [SPEAKER_03]: Much, I mean, there's some positives that we can look at here. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's start with Spencer Horowitz.

[SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: In the last three series Scott, he's hitting three, seventy five, four, forty four, O BP, five, seventy five, slug with a one, oh, nineteen OPS. [SPEAKER_03]: Like he has been consistent for about two hits a game scoring a run, driving in a run. [SPEAKER_03]: It looks like that. [SPEAKER_03]: is finally coming around like he's getting a full season of major baseball experience and you're kind of seeing what he could be as an everyday player in the lineup.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like him at the top of the order and I think the depending on how the team looks next year, you know, we were really excited about I don't know Chris being in the lead off spot initially and that didn't end up working out, but I kind of like Spencer Horowitz and the two hole. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you just don't have a guy that like you can put it one perfectly right now and it is.

[SPEAKER_01]: But you got to love what you're seeing from him overall and and you got to love the progress that he's made through a season because I know people were disappointed for a little bit but he started a season two months late and this is who we traded for man and this is a controllable bat that we have what twenty thirty one I think it's right.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it's like five years if control and then Brian Reynolds [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of people have been talking about it has gotten hot in the month of August, three, twenty, four, three, seventy, eight, five, fifty, nine with a nine, thirty, seven OPS. [SPEAKER_03]: So he's finally getting comfortable. [SPEAKER_03]: A little bit too late for this year, but it gives me a little bit of hope. [SPEAKER_03]: It's like, all right. [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he just had a bad year.

[SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Like he's pretty much hit every other year, two time all star finally putting it together. [SPEAKER_03]: That's somebody who there was trade talks about him. [SPEAKER_03]: We saw the new [SPEAKER_03]: trade list, all that hype, and then it kind of just died off. [SPEAKER_03]: And at the end of the day, I think this is somebody that you probably want to keep, or else you're just going to have to keep starting over with finding bats.

[SPEAKER_03]: This is somebody that you have under control for a long time that you give a big contract to. [SPEAKER_03]: All things considered relative with the virus. [SPEAKER_03]: But you just mentioned O'Neill Cruz. [SPEAKER_03]: So let's talk about it because I think on this podcast, we've given him a lot of slack in terms of having a full, majorly baseball season. [SPEAKER_03]: getting used to a new position, a lot of variables when it comes to owning a cruise, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think a lot of that moving around and switching positions, getting a lot of the bats can translate to poor offense, but he has been. [SPEAKER_03]: Atrocious at the plate lately. [SPEAKER_03]: Here's some numbers Scott since July first. [SPEAKER_03]: He is below the Mendoza line. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: He's having ninety six with a two forty six O B P seven slugging and a six O three O PS in that time span since July first.

[SPEAKER_03]: He has just hit three homers. [SPEAKER_03]: So you talk about adding bats to the lineup and having some type of consistency in major league. [SPEAKER_03]: guys that are ready to shine, that's supposed to be your guy. [SPEAKER_03]: Like this is supposed to be one consistent piece.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think at this point, we might have to start saying like, not he is what he is, but giving a little bit more criticism when it's due, because we're getting to the point where he's had enough service time, where you should be able to figure it out. [SPEAKER_03]: You should be able to make these types of adjustments and we can't be going on a month and a half slow. [SPEAKER_03]: at any point regardless of how this team is doing.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the bat hasn't progressed the way we wanted to, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I had some friends texting this week and it's like, you got to think about moving him if this is the [SPEAKER_01]: the way he's trending. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think he is going to always be streaky. [SPEAKER_01]: I think you see that from an LED data cruise, too, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, when it comes to like extension talks, people don't have a lot of extensions, I think they are very, very cautious with this one because they don't want to give another extension to a guy that's going to, I don't want to say burn them, but you know, your two highest paid offensive players are Brian Rhodes and Brian Hays is here and they're arguably for the first two months or two of the worst hitters in baseball.

[SPEAKER_01]: or more for Brian Reynolds, I want to say the worst, but very disappointing. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think they're going to be cautious with this one, but he's got what? [SPEAKER_01]: Two years of control left. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a conversation. [SPEAKER_01]: I know I know I'll report it for the trade deal. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be a conversation that they're going to listen on in the offseason. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd listen. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd listen.

[SPEAKER_03]: I know other teams that we saw. [SPEAKER_03]: We heard the Yankees were interested in having him play for third based. [SPEAKER_03]: So I think we can firm that this weekend from some sources. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll say for a team that is like struggle to have a legitimate third baseman. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a wild [SPEAKER_01]: That's a wild one for me because they were tart and that's why Hayes was a target for them.

[SPEAKER_01]: They wanted a legit third basement and take a guy that has never played it. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't really get it. [SPEAKER_03]: Just him moving around a lot. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you seem like continued mistakes in the Alfield and while I think he has taken leaps and bounds when it comes to manning center field, it still is a pretty rough watch other than [SPEAKER_03]: the canon of an arm that he has.

[SPEAKER_03]: And then something that Debo and I saw on the field today when we got there this morning, Alexander Canario. [SPEAKER_03]: Remember him? [SPEAKER_03]: Remember that he's on the team. [SPEAKER_02]: He's still here. [SPEAKER_01]: I've already taken rest of first place. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_03]: So I took a video of him. [SPEAKER_03]: I did not put it on the internet because I'm not trying to get Twitter all that route up right now.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just like, [SPEAKER_03]: He had a first baseman's glove on. [SPEAKER_03]: I was like, is that could an Oreo? [SPEAKER_03]: Cause him and Peggy Peggy has gone some time at first base. [SPEAKER_03]: But I was like, first of all, kind of forgot that he was still here. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Why is he on the roster? [SPEAKER_03]: And then two, not only is he not going to play outfield or is he not getting in the game, they have them at first base.

[SPEAKER_03]: And it was rough. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, like, [SPEAKER_03]: It looked like they were teaching him how to, I mean, it probably is. [SPEAKER_03]: They were teaching him how to play first base for the first time. [SPEAKER_03]: It was, it was a tough watch. [SPEAKER_03]: We were standing right behind him while he was taking reps and man. [SPEAKER_03]: It was not fun. [SPEAKER_03]: Like, what are we doing? [SPEAKER_03]: Like why?

[SPEAKER_03]: Again, if we're, if, and I know he doesn't have options. [SPEAKER_03]: So if he's gone, he's gone, but who cares? [SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: Why do you keep him around if you're trying to make the argument that young guys need reps? [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather see Nick York get reps at first base. [SPEAKER_03]: And I know he was trash and spring training at first base. [SPEAKER_03]: And that's not his position. [SPEAKER_03]: But hell, get him in the lineup.

[SPEAKER_03]: Right. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather see Billy Cook. [SPEAKER_03]: who has first space experience takes rep set first space. [SPEAKER_03]: It's just like it doesn't add up. [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't make any sense why this team does what they do. [SPEAKER_03]: And that's not even mentioning the whole bubble noise. [SPEAKER_03]: That's going on right now. [SPEAKER_03]: No a drop the article that bubble thinks he can contribute to the team. [SPEAKER_03]: He doesn't know what's going on.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's very confusing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's like no method to their madness right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Like when I saw that, I was just like, why don't you just playing when the outfit, the position that he knows over a guy like Jack's Winscu is hitting like one-ten. [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_01]: I know Kenara is not blowing us out of the water, but like, I ease it better this year than Jack's Winscu has, but also why roster if he's not going to play, you're just taking up a roster spot. [SPEAKER_01]: And after the trade deadline, it was all they talked about giving opportunity young players, but they're literally like trying forcing Kenara to play a position he's never played before. [SPEAKER_01]: than calling up a Billy Cooker in New York.

[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes no sense to me. [SPEAKER_01]: And we're talking about our own new crews and his production lately. [SPEAKER_01]: The team like Pittsburgh, a small marketing, there's just very little margin for air. [SPEAKER_01]: And they just love to consume the most errors, if you will, and every facet of the game. [SPEAKER_01]: Like it just every decision they make is [SPEAKER_01]: is just mind blowing. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I don't really get that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I saw your text this week and it looked pretty bad. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, just why? [SPEAKER_01]: Why try? [SPEAKER_01]: Why forces? [SPEAKER_01]: He's a DFA candidate. [SPEAKER_01]: Just if he's not going to play, give the, give a roster spot to someone who could see Big League reps. [SPEAKER_01]: How about this? [SPEAKER_03]: Raphael Flores, who was the headliner. [SPEAKER_03]: and you're trading.

[SPEAKER_03]: You're talking about a late call up this year, catch your first basement. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get him some reps. [SPEAKER_03]: Have a cam divini who you traded for who is supposed to be your replacement most likely for ICAMP who you didn't move. [SPEAKER_03]: He's played third base. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's try and try him out of the corner. [SPEAKER_03]: That's better. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather give him a shot than Alexander Canario.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather give him a shot than Peggy at first base if we're being quite honest. [SPEAKER_03]: You go down the list, Nick York. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather give him a shot. [SPEAKER_03]: Billy Cook. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd rather just see him get more reps. [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. [SPEAKER_03]: And that's kind of where the list ends. [SPEAKER_03]: Malcolm Nunez is on the the sixty day in triple A and E, but [SPEAKER_03]: Man, like there's not many options, but just get those guys up.

[SPEAKER_03]: You said you have guys in AAA who are ready that you want. [SPEAKER_03]: Brother, we're in it's August tenth. [SPEAKER_03]: There's not much time left. [SPEAKER_03]: If you want guys to contribute next year, likely they're not going to make the opening day roster if they're not getting time right now.

[SPEAKER_01]: And what they're going to do is they're just going to defay these guys right like with like a couple weeks left to go and then they're going to call up Nick York to play for the like the last week and I just won't make any sense but. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the Pittsburgh Pirates for you, man. [SPEAKER_01]: It's frustrating. [SPEAKER_01]: The only other thing I have had line-wise, I saw that they claimed, I think this was Thursday, they claimed Jack little of waivers from the Dodgers.

[SPEAKER_01]: Sign them AAA and E. I think he's a reliever, right-hand reliever. [SPEAKER_01]: So right now unless it's changed since I've been gone this weekend, three-nine players in the Forty-Man roster. [SPEAKER_01]: Correct. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: You got it. [SPEAKER_03]: You want to get us kicked off with Thursday and before we do actually nice shirt, by the way. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: You like this is from the strip dessert.

[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I could I could I guess it was. [SPEAKER_03]: I walked by that place every single day. [SPEAKER_03]: Is it the one next to Allegheny coffee? [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I've worked here today when I went to Tony's soprano's house. [SPEAKER_01]: So how was it? [SPEAKER_01]: Good. [SPEAKER_01]: I bet there's people hate that.

[SPEAKER_01]: actually I we read about we looked it up on the drive home and apparently like they're they've been living there for thirty plus years and I guess like every anniversary of Jim James Gandolfini passing they get like stuff like flowers on their driveway and some of that dude you should see this neighborhood that house was the smallest one in there [SPEAKER_01]: I gave it was very, very ritsy neighborhood and called north, called London Jersey.

[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it was funny driving up there. [SPEAKER_01]: I was seeing the scenes of like Tony driving down those wooded streets and like flicking off the detectives as he's driving out of his plan. [SPEAKER_01]: Did they actually shoot at that house? [SPEAKER_01]: They did the pilot and they filmed it like fifty times. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think they in Queens, they recreated the kitchen. [SPEAKER_01]: They had a set.

[SPEAKER_03]: So just like, you got your Italian blood boil in today. [SPEAKER_01]: You really got your help going. [SPEAKER_01]: I sent it to my cousins a picture and they're like, dude, that's the biggest I've ever seen you smile. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I felt like I was at home. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it was either that or when you interviewed Alessandra or Kalani. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, true. [SPEAKER_01]: True. [SPEAKER_03]: That's my guy.

[SPEAKER_03]: We were sitting in the press today and Noah was talking, we saw the photo and I showed it to him. [SPEAKER_03]: He's like, oh my God, of course Scott went to this soprano's house and [SPEAKER_03]: He's like, he's like, I don't know what's worse. [SPEAKER_03]: That or the two Italian flags on his glove. [SPEAKER_03]: It's not one but two. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's two. [SPEAKER_03]: Of course.

[SPEAKER_03]: Before we get into Thursday's game, go over to Total Sports Enterprises for all your Pittsburgh sports memorabilia needs, Pirates, Penguin Steelers. [SPEAKER_03]: Everything you want, Total Sports Enterprises has you covered. [SPEAKER_03]: We're at the game all weekend. [SPEAKER_03]: Total Sports Enterprises was hooking up everybody with autographs. [SPEAKER_03]: We had a Brian Reynolds autograph, Joey Bart.

[SPEAKER_03]: Dave Bednar no longer here, but we've given out hundreds of David Bednar signed baseballs. [SPEAKER_03]: And much, much more, you could find all of that and more at total sports enterprises.com. [SPEAKER_03]: Go to the description below. [SPEAKER_03]: Click the link to let them know Bucco Bander sent you. [SPEAKER_03]: Scott, let's talk Thursday. [SPEAKER_01]: Thursday, Scheme's Day. [SPEAKER_01]: We also filmed a short documentary if you were talking about it real quick.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's talk about that. [SPEAKER_01]: The nine, nine, nine challenge. [SPEAKER_01]: My buddy Mike who lost our, came in last in our fancy football week. [SPEAKER_01]: That was his punishment from last season. [SPEAKER_01]: Had to, had to do it before this season started and there was a, what are you, one dollar dog night and just like, let's do it. [SPEAKER_01]: And he finished it in the ninth, right? [SPEAKER_01]: He did, he did finish it.

[SPEAKER_03]: Now there's been some whoop-law around it because a lot of people have their own rules to the nine, nine, nine challenge. [SPEAKER_03]: And I'd like to hear from our audience. [SPEAKER_03]: Now he, his strategy was let's hammer some beers. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get our fellow selves feeling some type of way. [SPEAKER_03]: And then we'll pound the hot dogs.

[SPEAKER_03]: Now there's other people that say you have to do [SPEAKER_03]: dog in a beer per inning and you cannot go until you finish the first one, right? [SPEAKER_03]: So it's every inning you're having a beer in a hot dog, you're within those parameters. [SPEAKER_03]: How do you feel about that? [SPEAKER_03]: You think it's kind of just like, hey, you get nine beers, nine dogs, and you're done, or do you think it should be more structured?

[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was always you to do a beer in a hot dog each inning. [SPEAKER_01]: So when the second inning starts, you start your second dog in the second hot dog. [SPEAKER_01]: That's how I interpreted it. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, he finished nine and nine before the game was over, and I think that's what matters. [SPEAKER_01]: Either way, it's fucking disgusting.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I couldn't, I don't think I could eat three, I could eat three odd talks, but like hot talks show me up quickly. [SPEAKER_01]: So nine hot talks is more disgusting than nine beers in my opinion. [SPEAKER_03]: Excuse my language, but it was the grossest thing I've ever seen. [SPEAKER_03]: It was disgusting. [SPEAKER_03]: At one point, he was like squeezing the hot dogs to try to make them smaller. [SPEAKER_03]: It was so gross.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: And the dollar dogs are terrible. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they are. [SPEAKER_01]: They are. [SPEAKER_01]: They are. [SPEAKER_01]: They absolutely are. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not a fan. [SPEAKER_01]: We actually took the buns from the dollar dogs because they were thinner and wrapped them around like actual five dollar odd dog. [SPEAKER_03]: So hopefully there's an expensive venture, expensive venture. [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: Talk baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: Schins Day. [SPEAKER_01]: He went six, six, seven hits, nowhere, no walks, eight k's. [SPEAKER_01]: He's a one, ninety four year A and eleven whiffs on that game. [SPEAKER_01]: Twenty seven and two thirds. [SPEAKER_01]: straight scoreless innings pitched at PNC Park for Paul schemes. [SPEAKER_01]: I believe that's some kind of record for or the youngest pitcher to pitch.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think five straight scoreless games at his home ball park. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, something like that. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, he continues to look brilliant. [SPEAKER_01]: Camp Sanders went one inning, no hits. [SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Burrucky, one-anning, one-hit, two-case, and Kyle Nicholson, one-anning, one-hit, one-k. [SPEAKER_01]: They won the game seven and often.

[SPEAKER_01]: Behind Henry Davis' offensive efforts, he does fifth home run, he had two RBIs, shot that average up to one-seventy-two. [SPEAKER_01]: Brian Reynolds hit his eleventh, went two for four. [SPEAKER_01]: And Jared Trail, it was two for four with two RBIs, hit the ball hard. [SPEAKER_01]: Ten hits total three for twelve with runners and scoring position, eleven left on base, five-case.

[SPEAKER_03]: And then Friday, three to two dumb, two in a row, Keller five and two third six hits, two earned three wongs, three keys, not much going on in this game into the late inning heroics. [SPEAKER_03]: What do you smile on about? [SPEAKER_01]: The banner at the bottom. [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's just about the wolf game. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know you're advertising. [SPEAKER_01]: I like it. [SPEAKER_03]: September second.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: I was in my versus the Dodgers wolf game. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Bring your, bring your wolf shirts. [SPEAKER_03]: Bring your wolf shirts. [SPEAKER_03]: Meet us at the top of the recondent. [SPEAKER_03]: Anyways, Scott Friday. [SPEAKER_03]: Keller was good bullpen decent.

[SPEAKER_03]: Not much offense until late in the game, Reynolds had to hit some of the day to go ahead, triple noob, a marté, misplayed a ball, grossly, and right field, and then he fumbled it. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the both runs, I think we're going to score either way. [SPEAKER_03]: Cruz had a double on the day as a team, twelve strikeouts, two wongs, five hits, two for seven runners in scoring position for left on base.

[SPEAKER_03]: So when up two to two, oh, in this series, which brings us to Saturday. [SPEAKER_01]: Saturday, the Pirates One, two to one, or they lost two to one, sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: Braxton Ashcraft got the star went three and a third's three hits, one earned one walk, five k's, had eight whiffs. [SPEAKER_01]: Cartamaginski went three and a three hits, one earned three k's, a little bit of a piggyback action there.

[SPEAKER_01]: Rybrooke, two thirds of an inning, one walk, Ryzen, Isaac Matsumut, one inning, no hits, two k's, and Cam Sanders, another scoreless outing, one inning, one hit, one k. [SPEAKER_01]: Not much offensively here, Jared Trello is one for three with a double. [SPEAKER_01]: Spencer Horowitz was two for three. [SPEAKER_01]: Four hits total one for one with runners and scoring positions. [SPEAKER_01]: Five left on base, four k's.

[SPEAKER_01]: Adam that brings us into the high scoring effort of this Sunday game. [SPEAKER_01]: What happened? [SPEAKER_03]: Hey, lost. [SPEAKER_03]: Fourteen to eight. [SPEAKER_03]: Now I have a couple reasons why I hate this game. [SPEAKER_03]: I lost my fantasy. [SPEAKER_03]: Hope's injury. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, did you lose? [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, by one. [SPEAKER_03]: Man, I saw it was tied going to the side all week and I just saw it. [SPEAKER_03]: I've dealt with a ton of injuries.

[SPEAKER_03]: So this game really. [SPEAKER_03]: Really did me in. [SPEAKER_03]: Horowitz, man, has stayed hot. [SPEAKER_03]: He had two hits on the day. [SPEAKER_03]: Reynolds had two hits, Gonzo. [SPEAKER_03]: So Winski had two hits as a team, eight K's, five walks. [SPEAKER_03]: Sixteen hits still lost. [SPEAKER_03]: This game really not much slugging out. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's three doubles on the day. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's kind of the same story.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's always four, four, eight team runners in scoring position. [SPEAKER_03]: Twelve left on base. [SPEAKER_03]: Burrows looked good to start. [SPEAKER_03]: He had six K's on the day, five innings, three hits, four earned one. [SPEAKER_03]: supplemented by you on Ramirez, one in one third, four hits, three earned two walks. [SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of really work out of way for us.

[SPEAKER_03]: And then Darry Meretto and one in one third, two hits, two earned runs, one K and then Ryan Baraki came into clean up that mess when a third of an inning gave up one hit. [SPEAKER_03]: Cam Sanders with a third of an inning. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, [SPEAKER_03]: talk about Ramirez, where it really went downhill, came Sanders. [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the big leagues.

[SPEAKER_03]: My guy, one third, four hits, five earned two walks, no strikeouts, and then Isaac Mattson, classic Mattson, two thirds of an inning, one walk, one K, his ERA is at a two, two, two, man. [SPEAKER_03]: And there's a little bit of a comeback off of some reds mistakes in this game, but [SPEAKER_03]: Right when McGill and do hard, hit a hundred and ten mile per hour home run off of Mike Burroughs. [SPEAKER_03]: We were sitting in the press box when it happened.

[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, that's the hardest hit ball I've ever seen in my entire life. [SPEAKER_03]: What are you going to left field left field right down the line on a line like maybe twenty feet off the ground? [SPEAKER_03]: Just absolutely pissed on. [SPEAKER_03]: And apparently he was at the Clemente Museum. [SPEAKER_03]: That's the night before.

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so we were talking to doing about that a lot of the I think like ten of the reds Went to the museum so I saw if I think I saw a picture it looked like a lot of guys were there so [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, shout at the Clemente Museum. [SPEAKER_03]: By the way, doing an awesome guy. [SPEAKER_03]: We love chatting it up on the field with him. [SPEAKER_03]: We got to get over there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we do. [SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite places in Pittsburgh.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've said it before, but just a really cool experience. [SPEAKER_01]: He is a wine seller in the basement and just all the memorabilia he has there and has been able to collect over the years. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a pretty special place. [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, tied the series. [SPEAKER_03]: The reds are competitive. [SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to Noah and Debo about this. [SPEAKER_03]: Imagine if the pirates were just the reds.

[SPEAKER_03]: Like they're not the best team. [SPEAKER_03]: They don't have the best town in the world. [SPEAKER_03]: They have some key pieces. [SPEAKER_03]: But they're playing winning baseball. [SPEAKER_03]: They're competing. [SPEAKER_03]: They're playing meaningful games. [SPEAKER_03]: in August, keep Ryan Hayes, set it and his interview in the scrum. [SPEAKER_03]: It's nice to be playing at a place that wants to win. [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure it is.

[SPEAKER_03]: Like you can't fault him for saying that. [SPEAKER_03]: Like I think anyone that would leave here and go somewhere else would probably experience culture shock from how different it must be. [SPEAKER_03]: It's sad, man. [SPEAKER_03]: Like I know it's the dog days of the summer. [SPEAKER_03]: We're trying to grind through this. [SPEAKER_03]: I get it.

[SPEAKER_03]: I want to watch meaningful baseball and it's becoming very difficult to stay focused on these games when there's so many other things that they could be doing as an organization to set the trajectory in the right way for twenty twenty six and it just seems like we're still going downhill. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't seem like there's an end inside unfortunately. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Fair. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting depressed.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's take a break and come back and preview the brewer series. [SPEAKER_03]: Scott, we had to Milwaukee to take on the first place in the NL Central Brewers there, seventy two and forty four before we get into it. [SPEAKER_03]: Shout out to Sports Card Junction. [SPEAKER_03]: We gave away a ton of cool boxes this weekend. [SPEAKER_03]: Sports Card Junction, ninety eleven Perry Highway Sports Card Junction.com.

[SPEAKER_03]: Scott, let's suck Brewers.

[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Monday, right hand to pitcher, Freddie Perlton, first Andrew Heaney, who is still here on this team. [SPEAKER_03]: Perlta, twenty twenty-five, thirteen in five with a three-o-three ERA, a hundred and thirty in two-thirds innings, pitch twenty-four games, a hundred forty-one case with a one-one four. [SPEAKER_03]: Whip, he's had two starts versus Pittsburgh this year, Pittsburgh's one-one, and in the brewers have won.

[SPEAKER_03]: One, the arsenal forcing change curve slider, known early in his career for his dominant fastball and command in consistency.

[SPEAKER_03]: Perlta has [SPEAKER_03]: refined his arsenal and pitch usage adding secondary weapons that compliment his elite fastball shape high strike out number two starter with ace level upside when command is on his whip with heavy approach condominate any lineup we've seen him time and time again this is I mean you talk like border line ace like I would venture out to say like he is has a stuff yeah absolutely absolutely

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's, let's go on to Tuesday, Jose Kintana, former pirate will face Paul Schains. [SPEAKER_01]: Schains says, well, I'm in Milwaukee if I'm not mistaken, but Kintana this year has put together a pretty impressive line for the, as of that, nine and four with a three, fifty, seventy are a ninety three and a third innings pitch, seventeen games started, sixty six k's and a one, thirty four whip. [SPEAKER_01]: He'll throw a sinker change curve forcing and slur bat.

[SPEAKER_01]: You that sinker, he'll throw about forty five percent of the time sits in the low nineties. [SPEAKER_01]: The change will sit in the mid eighties and he'll throw that about twenty two percent of the time. [SPEAKER_01]: So veteran softball who built his career on durability, consistency and command rather than overpowering stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: And his recent years, his marcha for arrow error has narrowed.

[SPEAKER_01]: Velocity is down and he relies heavily on sequencing and location to succeed. [SPEAKER_01]: That all started when he was a pirate, Nate flipped him at the deadline and he really revived his career here. [SPEAKER_01]: So get the face him again in Milwaukee.

[SPEAKER_03]: Then Wednesday, right hand to pitcher Brandon Woodruff, verse Mitch Keller this year, Woodruff is four and oh with a two two nine year A, three five and one third innings pitch six games, forty five k's with a point six five whip the arsenal. [SPEAKER_03]: Again, the kitchen sink here for seem sinker change cutter curve sweeper. [SPEAKER_03]: His comeback has been nothing short of remarkable Scott after nearly two years. [SPEAKER_03]: Side line is back with early signs of a lead.

[SPEAKER_03]: form, elite stuff, elite control, fastball life. [SPEAKER_03]: If he can manage his health and maintain the workload balance, he can reclaim his status as a top tier number one or number two starter. [SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, this is going to be a top series on the road against the brewers. [SPEAKER_03]: I could tell you that every single time the pirates play anybody. [SPEAKER_03]: So [SPEAKER_03]: It is what it is. [SPEAKER_03]: We got to finish out the year strong.

[SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully see some of these younger guys that we've been mentioning or that have been mentioned by the front office. [SPEAKER_03]: Get some playing time. [SPEAKER_03]: Just see what you got. [SPEAKER_03]: It just works up around here. [SPEAKER_03]: But let's get into the players of the week. [SPEAKER_03]: I'll get it kicked off with the hitter of the week is going to be Brian Patrick Reynolds. [SPEAKER_03]: Did you know that middle name Patrick? [SPEAKER_01]: I did not.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was wondering where you were going there for a second. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like Brian Patrick. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Brian Patrick Reynolds born January twenty seven to nineteen ninety five okay at a Baltimore Maryland.

[SPEAKER_03]: This week hit three twenty with a three seventy O B P six hundred slug for our B eyes two walks one home run eight hits scored three runs twenty five at bats again we mentioned the stats for the month of August it looks like he started to get going that's very encouraging moving forward.

[SPEAKER_01]: absolutely absolutely and in our picture the week is a guy you've probably heard of once or twice the name is Paul skins he's been on a might be David all David let's let's check that real quick we can cut a lot of this out but [SPEAKER_01]: Am I right? [SPEAKER_01]: Survey says. [SPEAKER_01]: It's loading. [SPEAKER_01]: Paul David's schemes. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a little bit creepy Scott. [SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Six innings, seven hits. [SPEAKER_01]: No urn, no walks, eight caves. [SPEAKER_01]: No urn, no walks. [SPEAKER_01]: Looks really good on Thursday against the reds. [SPEAKER_01]: Look dominating, honestly. [SPEAKER_01]: That's vintage Paul scheme for schemes for you. [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, do you think he's going to win? [SPEAKER_01]: Simon is here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, too.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's a betting favorite, but someone asked me that the other day and they're like, given the, you know, current state of the team, does that hurt him? [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, nope. [SPEAKER_01]: He's put the, I mean, Jacob's a grom when I was with the meds when, and I think he had a losing record. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm, yeah, almost positive. [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to win. [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's no way he can. [SPEAKER_03]: He's been absolutely remarkable.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's, that's right. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why they got money off of books because that's how he's, but to go up next year, brother. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it is, it really, really is.
