[SPEAKER_01]: episode one ninety nine today we recap what's happening down on the farm you're listening to the bucko banter podcast brought you by the just baseball media network he's music [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to another episode of Bucca Banner. [SPEAKER_02]: We got down on the farm segment. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just me and you today Adam. [SPEAKER_02]: No interview today. [SPEAKER_02]: I got some in the work so cut in the coming weeks.

[SPEAKER_02]: But it works out perfectly because we have a lot to talk about. [SPEAKER_02]: It's the first down the farm episode after the trade deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: Some new faces in the organization and some games are recap. [SPEAKER_01]: Some were saying after the trade deadline and all these guys got their first at bats in the system that the pirates won. [SPEAKER_01]: The trade deadline contrary to popular belief.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going based off of their first at bats within a pirate's affiliate, then yes, I think the pirates won the trade deline. [SPEAKER_02]: The dominated. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, dominated a thousand, I think. [SPEAKER_01]: Sammy Sephora was what was the cycle? [SPEAKER_01]: Almost hit for the cycle was he at home run away. [SPEAKER_01]: He was at home run away. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Raphael Flores. [SPEAKER_02]: I think we can do one.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I think extra base hit. [SPEAKER_02]: Ed, Ed, going Perez. [SPEAKER_02]: Is it Ed Gleam? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he went two for three in his first game. [SPEAKER_02]: I think Kalin Moss had a hit in his first bat with Greensboro. [SPEAKER_02]: So wow, Ben Cherington, the goat. [SPEAKER_02]: He knows what he's doing. [SPEAKER_01]: How long? [SPEAKER_01]: How long? [SPEAKER_02]: put me down and he's just sitting back laughing in his office right now on federal streets.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, words. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, listen, all jokes aside, and we are joking. [SPEAKER_01]: We hope you guys do the best. [SPEAKER_01]: In all seriousness, it's refreshing episode to finally talk down on the farm because new faces. [SPEAKER_01]: We were hoping to have many new faces at the major league level. [SPEAKER_01]: Didn't get that. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is our opportunity to dream, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: This is the podcast where you can put away your thoughts about the major league ball club and dream on some of these younger prospects like the pirates always do. [SPEAKER_01]: Scott, why don't you walk us through some headlines this week on the farm? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's go. [SPEAKER_02]: Some guys were released after, you know, the draft signings and also the prospects acquired at the deadline.

[SPEAKER_02]: The pirates released, the following minor leagueers on Tuesday, writing a picture Jackson Grounds, writing a picture Tyler Kennedy, catcher Justin Mignus, first baseman called Carlos Terrado, Shores Up Clay Harrison, outfielder Eduardo Oviedo, and then outfielder and Manuel Terraro, some names that you probably recognize there. [SPEAKER_02]: Right in a picture, you own Oviado had his rehab assignment transferred to AAA Indy.

[SPEAKER_02]: We know he's starting tonight as we speak in the major league. [SPEAKER_02]: So he makes his return to Pittsburgh. [SPEAKER_02]: It's fun to see. [SPEAKER_02]: And then Wednesday, I'll take us through Wednesday here, Brennan Malone was placed in the seven day I.L. [SPEAKER_02]: That's probably more patriotic still alive. [SPEAKER_02]: Right at pitcher Geter Martinez, that was acquired from Seattle via the Ferguson trade. [SPEAKER_02]: So it'd be a sign to Greensboro.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he pitched this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see him in the box score, but this is a nineteen year old going to high A. So definitely being challenged here right up the bat and then in foot or semi-Safira, the main piece heading back from the reds in the Brian Hayes trade was a sign to low A, Bradenton. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he was more recently promoted to Greensboro.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll go to Friday right hand to picture Jack Noble reinstated from the development list, outfielder Andrew Patrick was released Saturday. [SPEAKER_01]: The newly acquired Edgling Perez in Bryan Sanchez were assigned to bring to an outfielder, Rayland Bishop was released. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about that for a second. [SPEAKER_02]: That was a big name. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that was for the biggest name.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was really as to where I'll had some prospect pedigree a little bit early on, but Braylon Bishop, man. [SPEAKER_02]: Didn't see that one coming. [SPEAKER_01]: That was a name I really liked and just did not put it together on the fuel. [SPEAKER_01]: And then signed them away. [SPEAKER_01]: What was it from Arkansas? [SPEAKER_01]: Lemon thrown. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a play football. [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of talent there just could not get out.

[SPEAKER_01]: of Bradenton. [SPEAKER_01]: So unfortunately, but we just reloaded the system with more outfueleders. [SPEAKER_01]: Sunday, hobby, our rebus was promoted to double a altuna. [SPEAKER_01]: This year is hitting two, sixty six was eighteen homer, seventy two RBIs in Greensboro. [SPEAKER_01]: And as I just mentioned, Sephora was promoted to Greensboro as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Monday, the Florida Bridge League starts. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So today, the Florida Bridge League.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is that today? [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's tomorrow Tuesday. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So all the twenty twenty five picks. [SPEAKER_01]: You saw this with Connor Griffin last year. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see their first games. [SPEAKER_01]: Um down on the complex similar to the fallen structural league, but moved up six weeks. [SPEAKER_01]: So they don't have to take low A roster spots looking forward to that as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk some new guys here real quick before we get into the recaps. [SPEAKER_01]: Who are you most excited about Scott? [SPEAKER_01]: I liked to for a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: getting him into Greensboro, getting that back going. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just an any short sought prospect. [SPEAKER_01]: I love because the more athletic they are, the more the more areas to dream on, the more you can move them around as long as the bat is working. [SPEAKER_01]: I like the start that he had.

[SPEAKER_01]: I like that trade out of all them probably the best. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's my pick. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like Sammy too. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot. [SPEAKER_02]: I think let's see if they can tap into some more power here, but the speed and defense is obviously there. [SPEAKER_02]: And it seems like he's taking a step forward offensively this year. [SPEAKER_02]: But I was just looking, I know I saw today that he was drafted.

[SPEAKER_02]: I believe right before a key pick for the pirates. [SPEAKER_02]: He was a guy at the pirates were very interested in in, in, in, [SPEAKER_02]: And I'll find it here in a second. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'll talk about it. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, he's a guy that I'm really excited for. [SPEAKER_02]: I think mostly I'm watching guys like Raphael Fores, who's closest to the big leagues. [SPEAKER_02]: Because I think he's someone that we could see this year.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's someone that we could see it in the August or September call up. [SPEAKER_02]: The bat, I think, is legit. [SPEAKER_02]: And he has some legitimate pop. [SPEAKER_02]: But the question is, with him, [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he doesn't chase a lot, low chase rate, he has a little bit of a higher whiff rate and kind of below average in zone contact. [SPEAKER_02]: And that right there just gives you jacks to win ski vibes.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not comparing him to jacks to win ski, but just those traits are similar to guys like jacks to win ski in the big leagues. [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see how he translates. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he was trapped either. [SPEAKER_02]: So the Yankees have done really well with developing catchers, especially offensive catchers. [SPEAKER_02]: You see Augustine Ramirez down Miami this year, he's been one of the better rookies in the National League.

[SPEAKER_02]: Hoping for some of that, man, because he definitely has pop and that's something that the system is missing. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's never a bad thing to have too many catchers, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Like you got Henry Davis, so I think could be a legitimate backup at minimum in this league. [SPEAKER_02]: And then what do we do with Andy? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: That's something that we're not going to decide do we have to. [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Are you going to bet on Rafael Flores? [SPEAKER_01]: Because I know something that you should use if you do bet on it. [SPEAKER_02]: Tell me about it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's rhythm. [SPEAKER_01]: You suck at sports betting sky. [SPEAKER_01]: You're maybe the word sports betting individual on the entire planet. [SPEAKER_01]: Recently, you've hit a hot streak. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's because of our partners at rhythm. [SPEAKER_01]: Scott is not just throwing darts at the wall anymore.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's going on rhythm. [SPEAKER_01]: He's finding the power trends, which will indicate his best return on investment. [SPEAKER_01]: Take the guesswork out of Moby Bets and start using rhythm to get data backed results. [SPEAKER_01]: It only takes a couple winning rhythm predictions a month.

[SPEAKER_01]: for the subscription to pay for self use code all caps just baseball fifty again that's all caps just baseball fifty for fifty percent off a full year that gets you access to everything on rhythm try it free for seven days and bet smarter with rhythm [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to Indianapolis. [SPEAKER_01]: Are you guys something for me? [SPEAKER_02]: I do have something because I want to see if you can get this one. [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[SPEAKER_02]: So say this if you're I was talking about when he was drafted. [SPEAKER_02]: Twenty twenty three second round pick. [SPEAKER_02]: He was the forty third overall pick. [SPEAKER_02]: The parents of the forty second pick. [SPEAKER_02]: They drafted a guy who's currently in the system who we've talked to. [SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to guess who that is? [SPEAKER_01]: Twenty twenty three second round. [SPEAKER_01]: Forty second round. [SPEAKER_01]: Forty second overall.

[SPEAKER_02]: Sephora was forty-third. [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, okay, and we've talked to him. [SPEAKER_02]: I think if I had to ask you who you preferred, I think you might go stuff here right here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, position player. [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: And the pirate's draft, oh my god, wait, hold on, give me a sec. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna give it away if you're in a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: We've talked to him. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, geez, oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: Give me a clue.

[SPEAKER_02]: God, what is a clue? [SPEAKER_02]: Utility. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna, if you don't get it, you're gonna be really bad at yourself for not getting it. [SPEAKER_02]: What are you looking at? [SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at all the cards we collect of all the players that we interviewed. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's up there. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he has either because we talked to him. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_01]: Dammit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Who is it? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so Mitch Jeb was taken the pick before Sammy Sephiroth. [SPEAKER_02]: Sammy Sephiroth was a highly rated prep guy who, I know a lot of people had predicted to go in the back half of the first round. [SPEAKER_02]: So we got Mitch Jeb right before him in twenty twenty three. [SPEAKER_02]: Now we have them both and I would say that there's more of a floor for Sephiroth because Jeb, we don't know where it really where he fits defensively.

[SPEAKER_02]: And the swing mechanics are a little bit unorthodox. [SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't know, I'm excited to see both these guys, but also Sammy, because he joins Connor Griffin in Greensboro, and I think they made room for him there, and they moved revost out Tunis, so they could ultimately have a short stop. [SPEAKER_02]: It's like Jarvis or Dixon, they go back and forth. [SPEAKER_02]: So Reevos gets a chance to play short summer almost every day. [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of works out.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's the both worlds for both affiliates. [SPEAKER_01]: Just before we go into the recap. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sure we'll mention this when we get to Greensboro, but as it yesterday, Connor Griffin had two steals and he became the first pirate to reach fifty stolen bases since nineteen seventy four. [SPEAKER_01]: He has fifty on the year, man. [SPEAKER_01]: Fifty. [SPEAKER_02]: Like at any level. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the current MLB leader has thirty five.

[SPEAKER_01]: Who is it? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: Thirty five, really? [SPEAKER_01]: Fifty bags, man, just a little bit after the break. [SPEAKER_01]: So again, congregor from continues to tear it up. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to Indianapolis. [SPEAKER_01]: They were at the Iowa Cubs, the AAA affiliate for Chicago. [SPEAKER_01]: Indianapolis is sixty five and forty two.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was watching the video.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's just impressive for how young of a guy he is, how quickly he can turn on fastballs inside. [SPEAKER_02]: I just would not throw him fastballs in. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, pretty impressive. [SPEAKER_02]: Friday, a game one of a double header data make up for the previous rainout against the Clearwater Threatures. [SPEAKER_02]: It was a walk off Homer at a hundred and nineteen point, eight miles an hour. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just a hundred grade power, a hundred grade raw power, off this guy's bat. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we've seen him in person.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's a humongous human being, something to watch for sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, Sunday, uh, end off the week. [SPEAKER_02]: Cheshugard had a rehab start one inning, one hit, one earn, one walk, one K. Edgling Perez debuted at Ketcher hit second, two for three with a walk that averages at two, fourteen. [SPEAKER_02]: Exciting lineup in Brainton as always are record right now is at forty seven to fifty five. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, Adam, who is our player of the week?

[SPEAKER_01]: Our player of the week is going to be none other than Mr. Nick York. [SPEAKER_01]: When seven for twenty one, two doubles, a home run, five RBIs, he's hitting three, thirty, three. [SPEAKER_01]: It's only a matter of time before they clear away for some of these younger guys at the big league level, such as Nick York to get some time. [SPEAKER_01]: It should be now. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'll say, it should be now.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's guys that I don't even need to mention that shouldn't be there just by way of fumbling the trade deadline. [SPEAKER_01]: But Charlotte, Nick York putting it together a little bit after getting off to a really slow start. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, hit three, three, three this week, seven for twenty one, two doubles, one home run and five RBIs. [SPEAKER_01]: And that wraps up our down on the farm episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Nice quick, clean twenty one minutes.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, nice quick. [SPEAKER_02]: Twenty-one minutes Nick York was an article that came out today that I haven't read yet talking about some swing changes that he's made. [SPEAKER_02]: He's been tinkering with the swing a little bit in AAA, but like you said, he should be here. [SPEAKER_02]: Came to vanish probably be here.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably going to take injuries for those guys to come up at this point, or someone to be cut unfortunately because of how, you know, amazing the trade deadline was handled here in Pittsburgh. [SPEAKER_02]: With that being said, Adam, this was, uh, we had a lot to talk about this week. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot to cover. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure we're going to see some more guys next week.

[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Sanchez didn't get into a game that third piece came over in the Yankees trade for David Bednar. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, Geter Martinez didn't see him this this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: So excited to see some of these guys get going. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and yeah, man, we'll have a lot to talk about on these down in the farm. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's going forward. [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you subscribe, like, leave a comment, tell a friend to tell a friend, follow on all social media.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you're the listening, leave a five star review. [SPEAKER_01]: Please comment, let us know how you're feeling about the episodes, download, so you know when they're coming out. [SPEAKER_01]: All the down on the farm episodes will come out Tuesday mornings. [SPEAKER_01]: I usually get the video up one day night. [SPEAKER_01]: So the video usually comes up out a little bit before, but we appreciate everybody for listening.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that's it for one, ninety nine, until next time. [SPEAKER_01]: Raise it raise it
