[SPEAKER_00]: Adam, welcome back, man. [SPEAKER_00]: What is this episode? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, episode one, ninety seven our second live show two days in a row before we start. [SPEAKER_05]: Can we can we first have a moment of silence for Taylor Rogers? [SPEAKER_05]: This was an era that is just will never forget. [SPEAKER_05]: Amen, brother. [SPEAKER_05]: Amen. [SPEAKER_05]: All right, let's get into it. [SPEAKER_05]: Where do we start? [SPEAKER_05]: There we go. [SPEAKER_05]: There we go.

[SPEAKER_05]: That's where we start. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, depressing man, depressing. [SPEAKER_05]: This deadline has me feeling some type away towards this front office. [SPEAKER_05]: I asked you earlier how much we are going to mince our words tonight, not that we try to mince our words, but we try to be respectful, right? [SPEAKER_05]: A little bit. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, everything's on the table, man. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, the goal was to go into this deadline.

[SPEAKER_05]: and make this team more competitive for twenty six to bring in talent for next year, because you've got Paul schemes for a limited window. [SPEAKER_02]: And we got worse. [SPEAKER_02]: We got significantly worse. [SPEAKER_02]: The upper next year is worse before we go on before we go on because I'm going to lose my freaking mind. [SPEAKER_02]: I want to remind everybody about Ben sharing since comments before the trade deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going to try and [SPEAKER_02]: read off the quote, because I have the video right here. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just going to play this for everybody. [SPEAKER_02]: In case you were just, you wanted to be extremely mad tonight. [SPEAKER_02]: Watch this and then we'll talk. [SPEAKER_03]: We have to deliver better, more to our fans. [SPEAKER_03]: And really focusing on how do we, how do we build a team that's going to be better on the field.

[SPEAKER_03]: And now in March of twenty twenty six. [SPEAKER_03]: Our attack will be a group pair between now and Thursday. [SPEAKER_03]: If you prepare to strike, if we see something that we think can help us towards that. [SPEAKER_03]: Certainly don't think Thursday is the end of that. [SPEAKER_03]: Or if by any means, but it is an opportunity that comes along and we'll see as many people prepare for it.

[SPEAKER_01]: So the twenty twenty six and nine is there maybe a more or a lesser desire to get long-term controllable guys somewhere are you looking to still get control players with a lot of years of control. [SPEAKER_03]: I think I would really teach people to say we do have decisions to make. [SPEAKER_03]: The next few days, if those happen, you look at those individual decisions and we'll get what the return is.

[SPEAKER_03]: Our goal is to put the pirates in a strong position going into twenty-six. [SPEAKER_05]: And how did that work out for you, Benjamin? [SPEAKER_02]: God damn it! [SPEAKER_02]: We keep falling for the same thing over and over again, Scott. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a thing we're not going to ever keep falling for it. [SPEAKER_02]: We went into this thing. [SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be the most important trade deadline of recent memory. [SPEAKER_02]: What did we say in the offseason?

[SPEAKER_02]: That this is the most important offseason. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, the worst was the quote today that I saw, and I might be paraphrasing here. [SPEAKER_05]: So, yes, he does, Jim. [SPEAKER_05]: He said something about why wasn't fam he and I kept traded, and he said they didn't need to be traded. [SPEAKER_05]: What do you mean? [SPEAKER_05]: They're inspiring contracts.

[SPEAKER_05]: Like, you got a lottery ticket for Caleb Burgess, and you can get a lottery ticket for Tommy Fan at the minimum. [SPEAKER_05]: Like, what are we doing? [SPEAKER_05]: It's just there's no direction and there's no way he can look in the mirror today and say where we're better for twenty twenty six there's just absolutely no way because I know they're not going to spend the money either like I met at the quote card yesterday.

[SPEAKER_05]: They are more there have more flexibility now with the after the haze trade right. [SPEAKER_05]: We were more positive about the haze. [SPEAKER_05]: But. [SPEAKER_05]: that flexibility means nothing when you got guys like Ben Cherink and making those decisions. [SPEAKER_05]: And I think it has says less about what teams were off. [SPEAKER_05]: It's less about what teams were offering and more about Ben as a negotiator because he's clearly really bad at it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think about the whole thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Ten to twelve beers for Adam tonight. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just Christ dude. [SPEAKER_02]: How I KF is still on this roster. [SPEAKER_02]: who is a very, very, very serviceable utility player. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you what, he's mad. [SPEAKER_02]: There's no way he's happy. [SPEAKER_02]: For anyone out there that thinks that they're going to resign, IKF, yeah, maybe the pirates think that.

[SPEAKER_02]: The minute this season's over, he is never coming back to Pittsburgh unless he has to play here again. [SPEAKER_02]: I think he rather signed the Savannah bananas and signed back to the pirates. [SPEAKER_02]: I would have rather have traded for some Savannah bananas. [SPEAKER_02]: This great deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: Would be more entertaining. [SPEAKER_02]: Would be more entertaining. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you that much. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's go through two positives in my mind.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: You cleared some money for Hayes and you flipped Rogers. [SPEAKER_02]: who was never going to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Keep Ryan Hayes was never going to contribute to this team offensively he had to go. [SPEAKER_02]: I mentioned it on the show yesterday. [SPEAKER_02]: The leash was way too long. [SPEAKER_02]: No other team would have allowed that to happen for a guy that you're paying that much money.

[SPEAKER_02]: I know the money's relative to the pirates. [SPEAKER_02]: That being said, Long leash. [SPEAKER_02]: We don't care about defense as much as we care about pitching in this organization and we need slug. [SPEAKER_02]: He's not pitching, and he's for sure not slugging. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, banana banter. [SPEAKER_02]: I love it. [SPEAKER_05]: Consider it done. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Sammy's to four automatically goes into our top ten.

[SPEAKER_02]: I believe he's in our number seven according to Emily Pet pipeline. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and he's assigned to Brayton, I thought he was in Dayton, but I think he was in Daytona. [SPEAKER_05]: So he'll just make the trip across the state of Florida.

[SPEAKER_05]: and hold join the marauders they'll have a middle-in-field of him and uh... white sandford down there i'd much rather watch that than watch this current major league dnd to be honest with you but i mean the marauders got better the grasshoppers got better geomorphiness is going to the grasshoppers go ahead throw it on i know you're doing there we go we're grasshoppers podcast now might as well be the only ones winning here uh...

[SPEAKER_05]: Greensboro, Gabel, or, I don't even, I don't even, I'm not even speaking words right now. [SPEAKER_05]: It is what it is. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Caleb Ferguson, one year contract, he's gone. [SPEAKER_02]: G to Martinez, a lottery pick. [SPEAKER_02]: Lottery ticket. [SPEAKER_02]: Comes back. [SPEAKER_02]: He could be good. [SPEAKER_02]: He could be nothing. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter because Caleb Ferguson wasn't going to contribute to this team next year.

[SPEAKER_02]: Why couldn't you be got something for IKF? [SPEAKER_02]: just like you got something for Carlos Santana. [SPEAKER_02]: Why could you do that with Tommy? [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe we came up Charles Mackadou. [SPEAKER_05]: I know we struggled this year with the Blue Jays, but man, he was our best hitter in the minor leagues last year, and we traded him straight up for IKF. [SPEAKER_05]: We couldn't get anything for IKF? [SPEAKER_05]: There's so many teams that needed utility guys.

[SPEAKER_05]: And I know that's the role that he wants to play anyway. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean Detroit could have used some Seattle could have used them. [SPEAKER_05]: I just, I'm shocked that they couldn't make any type of deal for these guys. [SPEAKER_05]: Tommy Fam is got, well, you know, he's back in two, seventy-three. [SPEAKER_05]: It's got one of the higher OPSs in the month of July. [SPEAKER_05]: Like, this is a guy that could have been moved either.

[SPEAKER_05]: They could have taken advantage of how hot he's been at the plate. [SPEAKER_05]: So, I'm like, I start howling on this. [SPEAKER_02]: Why? [SPEAKER_02]: Why does Ben, [SPEAKER_02]: only nine to twenty five the wolf game if you don't know about the wolf game listen everyone on on whether that's saying don't go to the ballpark. [SPEAKER_05]: That's fine don't go but go on nine to nine to is going to be a special day at a PNC park continue out.

[SPEAKER_02]: Where was I Ben Cherington deals with specific teams we know this the red socks the Yankees the blue jays. [SPEAKER_02]: I think you could throw the diamond backs in there a little bit. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's mainly the Yankees Blu-Jay's Red Sox. [SPEAKER_02]: Those three. [SPEAKER_02]: The pirates hug their prospects. [SPEAKER_02]: They keep them close to their chest. [SPEAKER_02]: They overvalued them.

[SPEAKER_02]: What's another organization that puts way too much value on their prospects? [SPEAKER_02]: Probably Cashman and the Yankees. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's fun. [SPEAKER_02]: And they just simply won this deal. [SPEAKER_02]: They kept every single one. [SPEAKER_02]: of their top prospects. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, didn't give up anything.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you look at the returns for every single reliever that was dealt in the market, or at least high leverage guy, it was significantly better. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: And David Benard's been better than most of these guys. [SPEAKER_05]: I would argue, I mean, Deran's younger. [SPEAKER_05]: I think he's got the same amount of control. [SPEAKER_05]: Mason, notice how like four years of control. [SPEAKER_05]: So you got Leo de Vries out of him.

[SPEAKER_05]: And I think San Diego has some maybe thoughts of him potentially trying to start at some point. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: To justify, or take different letters, I need to justify any type of package. [SPEAKER_05]: But on top of that, [SPEAKER_05]: BEDNAR, the Yankees system, their two top bats are George Lombard and Spencer Jones, and I don't think they're going to give them up for a reliever.

[SPEAKER_05]: And then after that, it's all pitchers until Rafael Flora. [SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, not the best organization to trade with if you're looking for upper level bats. [SPEAKER_05]: Kim Schlittler was a name that [SPEAKER_05]: I really like these in the rotation right now.

[SPEAKER_05]: I know we have a lot of arms, but like if you're trying to get the best player available in the deal, like he's a guy that they could have gotten, Bryce Cunningham is another arm at the top of that system. [SPEAKER_05]: So it's, it was a very underwhelming trade.

[SPEAKER_05]: When I saw Raphael Flores and two prospects, I'm like, wow, we're going to get Raphael Flores, who is, [SPEAKER_05]: Probably going to hit in the majors, like I think you're going to be a lot of swing and miss and there's going to be a lot of frustration, but he has some power for a big catcher, six, four, two, thirty, but for him to headline that deal, I knew is there's going to be two very low-level guys coming with along with him. [SPEAKER_05]: What did I text you earlier today?

[SPEAKER_05]: We text all day. [SPEAKER_02]: I said, if it's Flora as we riot, and you go two seconds later, and it's Flora's. [SPEAKER_05]: I was like, I'm fine. [SPEAKER_05]: I like Flora as a prospect. [SPEAKER_05]: He's close to the big leagues. [SPEAKER_05]: He's got some power. [SPEAKER_05]: It's not much different than some guys who already have to be honest with you, but he's a fine piece to add into the deal, but I was like, he can't be the headliner.

[SPEAKER_05]: And sure as sure as hell, he was a headline, a Robert Murray had it right all along. [SPEAKER_05]: He was saying earlier that the pirates really won Rafael Fores. [SPEAKER_05]: And now they're going to start selling us the Rafael Fores. [SPEAKER_05]: Hope him here in the next couple of weeks. [SPEAKER_02]: According to Noah Hiles, he put out a tweet earlier today. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's just go through.

[SPEAKER_02]: Or is the highest rated prospect that they acquired this year and he's role five eligible at the end of the season. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's going to have to be on the court. [SPEAKER_05]: He's twenty four already. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: None of the seven position players acquired have a major league at that.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to get into the Bailey falter trade in just a second, but a team source told the post is that Bailey falter was a non-tender candidate. [SPEAKER_02]: Bailey falters under team control and until twenty twenty nine, he's considered a non-tender candidate. [SPEAKER_02]: He's making two point two million dollars. [SPEAKER_02]: And then of course, he and IKF and Tommy Fam are all retained to cite being on expiring contracts.

[SPEAKER_02]: They do not have a major league that we talked about making this roster better with probably the two guys that were going to yield you the best return, which would have been Mitch Keller and David Bednor. [SPEAKER_02]: You failed on the Bednor one and right when they made that trade, I was hoping to God they would not trade Mitch Keller because if they traded Mitch Keller, it would be probably the worst return. [SPEAKER_02]: It would [SPEAKER_02]: put the bed in our return.

[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, you would even be thinking about it right now. [SPEAKER_05]: I think the most frustrating part is, you know, they've failed to trade him prior when he was your thermos valuable asset at a deadline, right? [SPEAKER_05]: These teams are paying a premium for high leverage relievers. [SPEAKER_05]: And then you get the opportunity to do it again. [SPEAKER_05]: And this is by far the most [SPEAKER_05]: You know, this is the highest asset you have.

[SPEAKER_05]: This is the guy who's going to bring back the biggest return. [SPEAKER_05]: All right, given years of control, given him throwing and high leverage innings and being one of the best closures in baseball over the best few months. [SPEAKER_05]: Like there's no debating that. [SPEAKER_05]: And they just completely flunked. [SPEAKER_05]: Like it was a colossal failure.

[SPEAKER_05]: He, every closure that was trading this deadline, I'm like, like, Dorian, Mason Miller, you know, remind me of any others that were dealt, but they brought back a top one hundred prospect. [SPEAKER_02]: But they didn't know.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Miller brought back to freeze, uh, brain, right in net, Henry Bias in, uh, and Varnial Nuneas, Ryan Helsey brought back his use bias, Nate Dome, and Frank Elisol, Johan Doron, brought back McAble in Eduardo Tate, and then Tyler Rogers brought back Jose Budo, Drew Gilbert, and Blade Todewell. [SPEAKER_02]: He's not even. [SPEAKER_02]: Tyler Rogers brought back. [SPEAKER_05]: absolute package. [SPEAKER_05]: I know I saw that.

[SPEAKER_05]: I was like, all right, Dave Dendart's got to be bringing back someone big. [SPEAKER_05]: Tyler Rogers is not, he didn't close for the giant city. [SPEAKER_05]: I thought he was more of like a, no, he wasn't even close. [SPEAKER_05]: No. [SPEAKER_05]: And, and listen, I don't like, you don't have to have the closer title. [SPEAKER_05]: The main, you know, the name of the game is getting out.

[SPEAKER_05]: And, oh my, if we would have thrown Keller in Zach, [SPEAKER_05]: We would've got like there's seven nine prospect maybe. [SPEAKER_05]: We've got the bad boy. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we would. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I would, I would kill for AJ, probably right now. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't kill for Peter Bendix. [SPEAKER_05]: I actually think he's not a phenomenal draw to Miami. [SPEAKER_05]: There's a lot of GMs that I would kill for.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's it's crazy year six and we're going into year seven after this with [SPEAKER_05]: probably as much hope as we had three years ago. [SPEAKER_05]: In the state of the rebuild. [SPEAKER_05]: Like, there's no true end insight. [SPEAKER_05]: You've got Paul Skins and you've got Connor Griffin, but there's no true end insight to this rebuild. [SPEAKER_05]: It's pretty depressing. [SPEAKER_02]: We were talking about a bidding war with Noah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think [SPEAKER_02]: they held too long and then it just got to the point where the tigers were like, all right, well, we'll build David Begg, Ben Aron, the aggregate. [SPEAKER_02]: Like they signed what three relievers in one day and then AJ Prellers a madman. [SPEAKER_02]: So he set the market extremely high and then Ben looked at that and said, I'm gonna go get Raphael Flores at Glean Perez and Brian Sanchez and that will be [SPEAKER_02]: adequate.

[SPEAKER_05]: By the way, just to make everyone feel better, arm latent from just baseball. [SPEAKER_05]: We were on the live show with them earlier, prior to the deadline. [SPEAKER_05]: And he told us that Brian Sanchez is quote unquote not bad. [SPEAKER_05]: So that's all he had to say about it. [SPEAKER_05]: And he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, he saw me to him run off of Brendan Malone. [SPEAKER_05]: So, Brendan Malone is still in the system. [SPEAKER_05]: He's in the low-way.

[SPEAKER_05]: We, the market trade has not been decided yet. [SPEAKER_05]: We might have won that one. [SPEAKER_05]: Peggy's hitting home runs in San Francisco. [SPEAKER_05]: We've got Brendan Malone and Brandon. [SPEAKER_05]: All as well. [SPEAKER_05]: All as well. [SPEAKER_02]: No more total sports enterprises signed baseballs by David Bedner. [SPEAKER_02]: I'd probably give away. [SPEAKER_05]: But they didn't send us anymore because they wanted to talk to the deadline, right?

[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, we don't have them. [SPEAKER_05]: I thought there was a real chance sorry real quick. [SPEAKER_05]: I thought there was a real chance that Joey Bart was going to be the sneaky guy to be sneaky guy. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not really a sneaky guy. [SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't have a knife, but [SPEAKER_05]: I thought he might be a guy that would go today. [SPEAKER_05]: I thought Haney was a lock. [SPEAKER_05]: I thought I KF was a lock.

[SPEAKER_05]: Hell, we might not see Kim Devaney this year. [SPEAKER_05]: And this is sad as it is. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm talking about scene Kim Devaney, a short stop at Pittsburgh for the season. [SPEAKER_02]: So you traded for Kim Devaney and everybody thought that was IKF's replacement. [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody thought that was replacement. [SPEAKER_02]: You don't need anybody right now. [SPEAKER_02]: This is not a winning team. [SPEAKER_02]: This is not a team that's gonna take you anywhere.

[SPEAKER_02]: So you don't need clubhouse guys. [SPEAKER_02]: We need to build a culture of winning. [SPEAKER_02]: We need good clubhouse guys moving forward. [SPEAKER_02]: It needs to be constructed in a way that actually fits together. [SPEAKER_02]: And then instead of just plucking random guys from around the league, we don't need twenty utility guys on one. [SPEAKER_05]: And we don't need anyone else from the University of Louisville because they're all bad guys.

[SPEAKER_02]: All bad guys, Louisville, all bad guys, but you need to build a winning culture. [SPEAKER_02]: You need to build guys that are contribute to a winning clubhouse that have been there before. [SPEAKER_02]: We've said this many, many times. [SPEAKER_02]: You just don't need to keep an ICF on the roster right now. [SPEAKER_02]: You don't need to keep Tommy Fam on the roster right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: You do not need to keep Andrew Heaney on the roster right now because you have Bubba Chandler. [SPEAKER_05]: So what? [SPEAKER_05]: Andrew, he is starting tomorrow on call right now. [SPEAKER_05]: I bet you he didn't think he was going to make it to Denver. [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely not. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not. [SPEAKER_02]: He's probably so pissed right now. [SPEAKER_02]: You have my burrows who has been pitching very well. [SPEAKER_02]: Hunter Barco.

[SPEAKER_02]: Could potentially see some time at the end of the year. [SPEAKER_02]: Thomas Harrington, I know he got a cup of coffee and he wasn't great and he hasn't been fantastic this year. [SPEAKER_02]: But my point being, you have young arms that you can just get [SPEAKER_02]: experience this year. [SPEAKER_02]: You have guys in AAA, at least like Nick York, Billy Cook, just put these guys in. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's so true.

[SPEAKER_05]: Like I'd much rather like see, divani up here and see cook and see York and see, you know, Bubba and some of these other young [SPEAKER_02]: Fam now figured out the whole I think as he said, this is the right time. [SPEAKER_05]: Now he's going to put lines coming up. [SPEAKER_05]: Now he's going to put pins back in his eyes and call the season. [SPEAKER_05]: Now at this point, let Tommy fan play shortstop that I'm making that argument right now.

[SPEAKER_05]: Let Tommy fan play shortstop he's been arguing for every pregame. [SPEAKER_05]: I want to see him out there. [SPEAKER_02]: Just so we educate everybody at this point in the year off field for as is in triple eight was in triple a with the Yankee C Crushed in double a he had fifteen bombs only a small sample size right now. [SPEAKER_02]: in AAA hasn't gotten off to the greatest start. [SPEAKER_02]: Ed Glean Perez is only nineteen years old, etcher and a first base.

[SPEAKER_02]: And so in the same deal, they brought back two catcher guys that play catcher and first base. [SPEAKER_02]: He's hitting two o nine on the air with no home runs. [SPEAKER_02]: He is a six o four OPS and then Brian Sanchez six three one seventy left builder twenty one years old in Abel. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Go ahead. [SPEAKER_05]: Just continue talking about this. [SPEAKER_05]: And I got to read something after that.

[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't played it in an age appropriate class yet. [SPEAKER_02]: He's playing against guys that are, eighteen, nineteen years old right now. [SPEAKER_02]: He's slash two, eight, one, three, seventy, three, four, three. [SPEAKER_02]: We're on Sanchez. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're on Sanchez, twenty four steals, uh, twelve point six percent walk rate, twenty three point four percent strikeout rate in sixty three games at single a, um, probably the highest ceiling.

[SPEAKER_02]: here some untapped power potential in that frame. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: What do you want me to say about this? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Rafi Flores is apparently a great framer. [SPEAKER_05]: That's going to do them well in twenty twenty eight, but yeah, it's just unbelievable. [SPEAKER_05]: I got to read a tweet from calling these here right now. [SPEAKER_05]: Sachs, good luck buddy. [SPEAKER_05]: Isaac Matzen's from Eary, Harbor Creek.

[SPEAKER_05]: So [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe make a video of the Harbor Creek song, go up there, sex, take a train to Erie. [SPEAKER_05]: That's probably a good idea. [SPEAKER_05]: But Colin Beesley said Ben Cherichon said that the pirates had access to players that were ranked higher than who the Yankees offered for David Bednar. [SPEAKER_05]: They simply preferred this package receiving number eight Yankees prospect, Raphael Flores, Edgling Perez, and Brian Sanchez.

[SPEAKER_05]: With that said, I am putting a smash my head up against the wall. [SPEAKER_05]: I can't believe he said that out loud. [SPEAKER_02]: So here's this deal. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to fire him right now because if you just fired him right after the trade deadline, I agree. [SPEAKER_02]: Zach, what the fuck does that mean? [SPEAKER_02]: Jesus Christ. [SPEAKER_02]: What the actual fuck?

[SPEAKER_02]: You can't fire him right now because then it's like we just let him [SPEAKER_02]: have the range of the entire trade deadline, then we're not going to be like, oh, I can't believe you did this. [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_02]: It's like the meme of the guy like shooting the gun.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think from this, I confirmed this by the way, this rumor, just letting everybody know they were offered judge and they said, sometimes you have to be comfortable saying now, continue at. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm so mad. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't even think straight right now. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm losing my, I train it thought. [SPEAKER_02]: You can't fire him right now because you just let him do everything. [SPEAKER_02]: Now for the rest of the year, it's just complete nonsense.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, nothing's going to make sense. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you might fire him after game one sixty two. [SPEAKER_02]: But is it too late? [SPEAKER_02]: It's too late. [SPEAKER_02]: So now the new whoever bingers cross those a new GM. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like nobody's talking about that. [SPEAKER_02]: How dispensable this organization is. [SPEAKER_02]: the potential of them keeping Ben Charington. [SPEAKER_02]: That's still an option. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, add firemen now too.

[SPEAKER_05]: But if I was a betting man, like I would say that Ben Charington would be our GM next year, if I had to bet on that right now. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not saying that because I would keep them, I'm just saying that because of how this organization runs and everything that we've seen so far. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm pessimistic about Ben being fired. [SPEAKER_05]: So don't mean to ruin everyone's nights, but yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Were we in the wrong, wrong place, huh? [SPEAKER_02]: We were.

[SPEAKER_02]: I was, I was looking, I was like, my name's not Scott. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so angry. [SPEAKER_02]: I've just lost. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not that ugly. [SPEAKER_02]: Where I'm on. [SPEAKER_02]: Jesus Christ. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's give you a bench a year extension. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, cue the music. [SPEAKER_02]: Listen, let's talk Bailey falter. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, let's do it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's getting lost in the weeks because as bad as the bed in our return was the Bailey falter trade just simply makes no sense. [SPEAKER_02]: When we were on the just baseball show, Jack asked us what about Bailey falter? [SPEAKER_02]: Because the name wasn't really being thrown around trading him like does make sense. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't make sense. [SPEAKER_02]: But it wasn't being talked about.

[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: He had a ton of years of control. [SPEAKER_02]: It's obviously not a fluke. [SPEAKER_02]: He's had two good years in a row. [SPEAKER_02]: The extension is there. [SPEAKER_02]: The fastball plays up in the zone. [SPEAKER_02]: It's competitive when he's on. [SPEAKER_02]: So why wasn't his name being thrown around a little bit more?

[SPEAKER_02]: And you think for a team that's competing that wants a solid back end rotation guy, Bailey Falter fits that mold. [SPEAKER_02]: Now, [SPEAKER_02]: We didn't really hear any rumors about it, but I've been must have had dinner with somebody in Kansas City and really liked the organization because it was, I mean, I don't even know where to start with this one. [SPEAKER_05]: To answer this real quick, what's access comment, I would much rather see that type of trade.

[SPEAKER_05]: I want to see some aggressiveness. [SPEAKER_05]: I want to see them do something other than trading for quantity with the Yankees who don't have in my opinion. [SPEAKER_05]: I know people probably disagree with me on this. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think their systems that deep. [SPEAKER_05]: They've a lot of arms. [SPEAKER_05]: And if we're looking at trying to find any positive in this at all, they develop catchers pretty well.

[SPEAKER_05]: Other than that, I would much rather than see them go out all out for it. [SPEAKER_05]: They're not like you're going to buy this year. [SPEAKER_05]: Make some big risky trades. [SPEAKER_05]: They talked about not being risk-averse. [SPEAKER_05]: This trade deadline was, they were extremely risk-averse. [SPEAKER_05]: We fell for that too. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, this is how they've operated for six years. [SPEAKER_05]: What makes you think we would operate any differently?

[SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, back to Bailey falter real quick. [SPEAKER_05]: The return here, they get a reliever who's got some major league time. [SPEAKER_05]: He's a lefty. [SPEAKER_05]: I think he's more of like a matchup type of lefty. [SPEAKER_05]: He's numbers are decent. [SPEAKER_05]: And then they get Kalin moss. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, that Kalin moss.

[SPEAKER_05]: single a first basement who is slashing to seventy three seventy two seven ninety OPS seven homers and fourteen stolen bases that seventy RBI's for the quad city river bandits. [SPEAKER_05]: They Greensboro's going for it they're going on and I'm glad to see Greensboro really just going for the title yeah this is grass grass hopper banter. [SPEAKER_05]: They're really going for it. [SPEAKER_05]: We got to make a trip down there, man. [SPEAKER_05]: Probably better baseball anyways.

[SPEAKER_02]: Evan Ciske has five innings pitched in Major League Baseball. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he was back and forth from Schippler. [SPEAKER_02]: Lefty, I think. [SPEAKER_02]: Compared to Bailey Faultier, who is a veteran Major League Baseball player, who is has a sub four ERA from the left handed side. [SPEAKER_02]: And years of control to twenty twenty nine, who is making two point two million dollars. [SPEAKER_02]: and the team said he was a non-pender candidate. [SPEAKER_05]: Crazy.

[SPEAKER_05]: The years of control alone, I thought they could get something interesting for Bailey Fulter. [SPEAKER_05]: Now, he's more of a mid-to-back end rotation starter, depending on what team you're he's pitching for. [SPEAKER_05]: But the years of control should have been attractive. [SPEAKER_05]: Being a non-pender candidate, that's absolutely, that'd be crazy. [SPEAKER_05]: Like Bailey Fulter's pitch pretty well with the pirates.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think there's a lot of teams that would love his, you know, fastball that is model friendly when he's getting up in the zone. [SPEAKER_05]: And he's definitely revived his career here at Pittsburgh. [SPEAKER_05]: So, yeah, non-tender is just nonsense. [SPEAKER_05]: I can't believe that was said. [SPEAKER_02]: There's no way that's the reason for the trade that they really thought they were just going to get rid of this guy. [SPEAKER_02]: So they just had to get something.

[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I think looking at all these returns looking at this trade deadline overall, one thing, and this is going to be shocking to all of these to prepare yourself, they were extremely unprepared. [SPEAKER_05]: extremely unprepared for the moment for the deadline.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's I don't know how I'll categorize it in because we heard all these this avoiding risk and and got to get better for twenty twenty six and man at the end of the day today I just felt like they're throwing shit the wall to see what stuck and [SPEAKER_05]: You know, just trading value fault or to move an arm, so maybe to make space for Bubba, maybe I don't know, because you could treat, treat, treat, treat Hini. [SPEAKER_05]: What do we do?

[SPEAKER_05]: They probably didn't like what they were getting offered for Hini, which is crazy. [SPEAKER_05]: You need someone else on the phone and these negotiations and these trade discussions. [SPEAKER_05]: I just can't believe that there's no one else in the room that is like, [SPEAKER_05]: We could do better for better. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter what we're getting offered for Haney, fam. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_02]: It did not matter.

[SPEAKER_02]: They should not be here anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: It's taught me, fam, the highest earner on this scene right now. [SPEAKER_02]: Brian Reynolds, besides like, besides Reynolds. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, someone in the comments figure that out. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, right? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: I would say it's I think it's Tommy fan, but where's Ethan when you need him?

[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's brutal. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's upsetting that you we've just been lied to over and over and over again. [SPEAKER_02]: Like straight up lied to like how does that feel? [SPEAKER_02]: Like you pour all of your time, and money is getting five and a half. [SPEAKER_05]: That's all right now. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Mitch, obviously, Mitch. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Mitch. [SPEAKER_05]: So much has five billion a year. [SPEAKER_05]: That's right. [SPEAKER_05]: That's cool.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's two, thirty, seven year olds on that list. [SPEAKER_02]: We're here. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Like how okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's let's let's put it this way, because we're usually we try and [SPEAKER_02]: Not like we're realistic, but we're usually not the ones to tell you that things are going poorly because you could see that for yourself. [SPEAKER_02]: You don't need us to tell you how bad things are when you have eyeballs.

[SPEAKER_02]: But how do we keep going as fans to enjoy games, to keep going to games and have some type of light at the end of the tunnel? [SPEAKER_02]: Because it's hard right now to see past that. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the straw broke the gambles back. [SPEAKER_02]: That was a while ago, but now they're just pouring gas lean on it. [SPEAKER_05]: I've got it. [SPEAKER_05]: I've got it. [SPEAKER_05]: I know exactly why you should keep it on the games.

[SPEAKER_05]: Go to games enjoy a nice cold beverage out to center field bar and answer questions trivia questions for chance when a mystery sign baseball or a box of baseball cards. [SPEAKER_05]: That's all you need to go to the ballpark for. [SPEAKER_02]: What type of beverage? [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe a surf side. [SPEAKER_02]: So the surf sides are about twenty five dollars. [SPEAKER_02]: If you guys buy enough surf sides, you can buy the take.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, you buy the take. [SPEAKER_02]: You'll lose money, but the team will gain more money. [SPEAKER_02]: And then they can get, make the money back for the surf side ad, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: And they can spend that on a new third basement. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, or like a sixteen year old Dominican kid. [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to pay for the rights of a guy that hasn't been born yet. [SPEAKER_02]: So, sacks go by some pretzels or something.

[SPEAKER_02]: Keep buying all. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, no, no, no, what's the energy during cold that Debo loves? [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, no, sacks is big and caffeine right now. [SPEAKER_05]: Wow. [SPEAKER_05]: Valor Valor Valor Valor energy. [SPEAKER_05]: Sacks try a Valor energy. [SPEAKER_05]: It's absolute garbage. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so bad. [SPEAKER_02]: It's terrible. [SPEAKER_02]: Listen, this trade deadline could not have gone any worse.

[SPEAKER_02]: Just so we're clear, and we cover all of our bases here. [SPEAKER_02]: Rogers was flipped to the cubs for Ivan Grethauer, who is a single-a-out-the-order. [SPEAKER_02]: He's six, six, six, two, fifty, twenty-two years old out of UC Santa Barbara. [SPEAKER_04]: Did you say two, fifty? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is big Ben roaming the outfit. [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think the strategy. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they got you say beef cake.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they got a bunch of beef cakes. [SPEAKER_05]: But it's guys trying to be was this guy's got twenty five stone bags at six, six, two, fifty. [SPEAKER_05]: And he's got a two, twenty one average, but in three, ninety eight, OVP. [SPEAKER_05]: Dude, he's got better eyes and Tommy Famous play that much. [SPEAKER_02]: He was drafted last year in the seventh round, the, uh, two hundred and twelve pick overall. [SPEAKER_02]: So, career two, oh, eight, header not much time here.

[SPEAKER_02]: Six homeruns, thirty three RBIs, twenty eight bags, twenty five this year. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, [SPEAKER_02]: What's the roster look like? [SPEAKER_02]: We were asked, what is in field look like going into next year? [SPEAKER_05]: Next, I can't even think about next year. [SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, just for the sake, let's play a game. [SPEAKER_05]: Who's the biggest free agent? [SPEAKER_02]: Who's the biggest free agent in twenty twenty six?

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Alex, pregnant, probably. [SPEAKER_05]: All right, so Alex, pregnancy is basically [SPEAKER_02]: You have a first base. [SPEAKER_02]: Alonzo has an opt out Nailer Goldschmidt, Hoskins Santana, Carlos Santana will be back. [SPEAKER_02]: Justin Turner, Josh Bell, Lamont Wade, Wilmer, Flora, as Donovan, Solano, Typhran, Connor Joe, second base for who's the oldest guy on that list? [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Justin Turner, Goldschmidt.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: What kind of interest do you think Theo Epstein has in running the pirates? [SPEAKER_02]: How much interest? [SPEAKER_05]: They are definitely saving for Kyle Thugger. [SPEAKER_05]: I'll tell you that much. [SPEAKER_05]: They're definitely saving for Kyle Thugger. [SPEAKER_02]: Second base for agents, Luis Arais, Ozzy Alvis has a club option, Glabr Torres. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll do it. [SPEAKER_05]: We have like a contained thousand second base.

[SPEAKER_05]: We need more second base, man. [SPEAKER_02]: We need more second base, man. [SPEAKER_02]: We need more second base, man. [SPEAKER_02]: Brandon Low, Jorge Polanco. [SPEAKER_02]: Cal Farmer, Tyra Astrada, Adam Frazier will be available again. [SPEAKER_02]: Let me ask you this. [SPEAKER_05]: What do you think it's going to look like next weekend when the reds come to town or are we going to get a highlight real video for the Brian Hayes?

[SPEAKER_05]: They should play all two of his home runs on the screen to highlight real of him beating the ball into the ground. [SPEAKER_05]: This negative watch. [SPEAKER_02]: I know we talked about it a lot yesterday. [SPEAKER_02]: We were talking to our friend who's a college hitting coach and he was just like, it's not sustainable to do what keep Ryan Hayes was doing and just hitting the ball into the ground over and over and over and over again. [SPEAKER_05]: Never gonna hit.

[SPEAKER_02]: Just killing a bunch of worms. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what he was doing. [SPEAKER_02]: Just absolutely terrible. [SPEAKER_02]: The guy that got for Rogers is six, six Kai Tom. [SPEAKER_05]: Kind of a tiny dude. [SPEAKER_05]: I saw him outside the ballpark one time. [SPEAKER_05]: Dude's like maybe five, five. [SPEAKER_05]: So good have something there. [SPEAKER_02]: Here's our third base options.

[SPEAKER_02]: We could pay Alex Breggman a ton of money next year to drag away from Boston, Eohannio Sweras will be a free agent. [SPEAKER_02]: Max Muncie as a club option, Giora Shella, Josh Ruhas, John Birdie, thank you so much. [SPEAKER_05]: So we might have to. [SPEAKER_02]: Euryas has an option and then shorts a boba shed. [SPEAKER_02]: Trevor Story, Hassan Kim has an opt out. [SPEAKER_02]: Let me go, Rojas, ICF. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll love to come back to Pittsburgh.

[SPEAKER_02]: I met Rosario and then the answer to this real quick. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, go for it. [SPEAKER_05]: I would probably say the best prospect that we got like. [SPEAKER_05]: Raphael Flores, but Sammy Sephira, maybe. [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_05]: I think Flores might have the higher floor, because I think he's gonna hit for some power. [SPEAKER_05]: Give a letter grid of the deadline or of the prospect. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I'm the deadline. [SPEAKER_05]: It's the deadline.

[SPEAKER_05]: Deadline, I would say it's a big fat Z. There isn't a letter low enough for to grade this deadline, man. [SPEAKER_05]: It's a big, it's a big question mark. [SPEAKER_05]: It's a prospect. [SPEAKER_05]: I think he's going to be like on the, you know, twenty to eighty scale. [SPEAKER_05]: I think he's going to be like a forty five, forty. [SPEAKER_05]: May probably a DH. [SPEAKER_02]: Here's the outfield free agents, Kyle Tucker, the Pirates will definitely pay him.

[SPEAKER_02]: Kyle Schworber, Cody Belinger, Luis Robert Jr., Tyler O'Neill has an opt-out, Cedric Mullins, Michael Conforto, Mike Ystromski, who just got traded to the royals today. [SPEAKER_02]: Chris Taylor has an option, Starling Marta reunion. [SPEAKER_02]: I think so. [SPEAKER_02]: Trent Grishom, Andrew McCutcheon, will be back for five million dollars, Mitch Hanager, Hunter Renfero, Max Kepler, Lane Thomas, Willie Castro, Jesse Wingard.

[SPEAKER_05]: Lane Thomas has like, Lonnie Chison Hall type of signing, written all over him. [SPEAKER_02]: Yep. [SPEAKER_05]: Yep. [SPEAKER_02]: Mike Talkman, Austin Slater. [SPEAKER_02]: Chris Taylor. [SPEAKER_05]: Chris Taylor. [SPEAKER_02]: Tommy Fan, Ben G. Okay, hear me out. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's bring back Tommy Fan, Ben Gamel, and Michael Lait Taylor. [SPEAKER_02]: And then just for fun, he's Alex Virgugo because we were so close to it last year. [SPEAKER_05]: How about Willie Mopania?

[SPEAKER_05]: What's he doing nowadays? [SPEAKER_05]: Willie Mopania. [SPEAKER_05]: See, I haven't heard it in a long time. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he wants to make a return to baseball. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going through this list ingest for the most part, but it's also to make a point out of all these names that I read off here. [SPEAKER_02]: How many of them are realistic? [SPEAKER_02]: Very little. [SPEAKER_02]: Like fair though.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like ninety eight percent of that list is no one above Lane Thomas. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: What are the games that keep Ryan Hayes money to sign a massive free agent? [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: And also they haven't set themselves up to for any free agent to trust what they're doing here. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: It's it's not good. [SPEAKER_05]: It's not good.

[SPEAKER_02]: uh... ballpark pass is going to be sixty dollars a month next year and uh... surf sides are going to be about thirty five ninety nine per pounder yeah you gotta keep going to the ballpark yeah for sure for sure the trade deadline sucks all right we'll wrap this up soon let's go they got came to vanny who was on the show good guy go check out that episode [SPEAKER_02]: Great glove, at short stop has a lot of power potential. [SPEAKER_02]: He's been killing it and triplet indie.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'd expect to see him sooner rather than later. [SPEAKER_02]: We thought there would be a more definite spot for him because IKF would have never really be moved, but that's not the case anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: Kalen Moss, Evan Sisk, Ivan Breathauer, Rafael Flores, Edgling Perez, Brian Sanchez, are all your new, and Sammy Stafora, are your new Pirates within the organization. [SPEAKER_02]: Nobody with a majorly get that.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I know we could go back to the comments, I've been sharing tin, we can go back to how important this was, but [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. [SPEAKER_02]: That's like the biggest thing. [SPEAKER_02]: I just like, I was legitimately sad today. [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I don't know how to react. [SPEAKER_05]: If I can make you feel better, I think they got better for twenty twenty nine. [SPEAKER_02]: I do feel better now. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_02]: I feel so much better, actually. [SPEAKER_02]: Say one nice thing about Ben Carrington. [SPEAKER_05]: It's good posture. [SPEAKER_02]: Good posture. [SPEAKER_02]: I heard he plays hockey. [SPEAKER_02]: He's probably not the worst player in his hockey league. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he is a hockey player. [SPEAKER_05]: That's about it. [SPEAKER_05]: It's all I know about him. [SPEAKER_05]: He's from the Northeast.

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Are these just facts? [SPEAKER_02]: Are they nice things? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they're nice. [SPEAKER_05]: Like, what is good posture do when you can't make a fucking trade? [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't have a fucking spine dude. [SPEAKER_02]: I know listen all we could do for the end of the year it was going to be bad no matter what at least if we're talking twenty twenty five the end of the year is going to suck enjoy Paul schemes [SPEAKER_02]: Walt last.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then all you can do is wait for the end of the year, then drink the Hopium again. [SPEAKER_02]: Because news slash not much is going to change as long as Bob nothing owns the day spotting. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's up in the air, whether or not Ben Cherington is going to keep the job. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how he does. [SPEAKER_02]: Given what has happened. [SPEAKER_02]: But then you're trusting Bob to put somebody in place to actually going to be competent.

[SPEAKER_02]: And [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I don't see it happening, man. [SPEAKER_02]: It's, um, it's pretty bleak. [SPEAKER_04]: Are you the guy that made the video about, uh, uh, is if I think that's about sex, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's, that's our buddy, sax boy on the sax, can't go check that out. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, [SPEAKER_05]: You want to wrap this up? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, let's wrap it up. [SPEAKER_05]: That being said, Raphael Flores is going to be the next Pudge Rodriguez.

[SPEAKER_05]: Brian Sanchez is the next Carlos Veltrane and Sammy Saffira. [SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to be the next Cal Ripkins. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if you're just tuning in right now, this was the best trade deadline of all time. [SPEAKER_02]: The pirates absolutely killed it. [SPEAKER_02]: I have no complaints. [SPEAKER_02]: Everything is great. [SPEAKER_02]: We're so excited to be back at PNC Park when the boys come back to town. [SPEAKER_02]: If you see us at the park, come say hi.

[SPEAKER_02]: How many people have been coming up and talking with us? [SPEAKER_02]: It's always a pleasure. [SPEAKER_02]: We've seen Bucco banner gear around the park. [SPEAKER_02]: We always have questions to ask things to give away from total sports enterprises, sports card junction. [SPEAKER_02]: Zach, don't play with me man. [SPEAKER_05]: I rationally love Stephen Claw and so don't please don't do this. [SPEAKER_05]: I'll hit the Claw on right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not ending the show until you hit the Claw. [SPEAKER_05]: I need proof. [SPEAKER_02]: If you don't already, we appreciate you all listening to the show.
