[SPEAKER_01]: Episode one, ninety-three. [SPEAKER_01]: Today we recap the series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, talk trade deadline, and preview the upcoming West Coast trip, starting with the San Francisco Giants. [SPEAKER_01]: You're listening to the Bucco Banner podcast, brought to you by the just baseball media network. [SPEAKER_01]: He the music. [SPEAKER_00]: Get it let me run the base. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my tablet's like my money cuz I can't afford a waste.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wifey is a lawyer take my day to my dates or to stick by the plates in the case after case from my race at my pace. [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to another episode of Bucco Banner, man, that new video intro video got me pretty hype. [SPEAKER_02]: Good job putting that together at him. [SPEAKER_02]: That was pretty sick. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Got a lot of good stuff to talk about, man. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, two series wins at home.
[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't change the course of the rest of the season, right? [SPEAKER_02]: And what they're going to do the rest of this week, but I think we have a lot of rumors to talk about some things headlines, trade talk and whatnot, which is important this week, given the deadline is Thursday at six p.m. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get right into it because Charrington spoke to the media today and let's break it down. [SPEAKER_01]: Because he suddenly is willing to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he doesn't want to be risk averse with this. [SPEAKER_01]: That's how the pirates are going to get better is not being risk averse. [SPEAKER_01]: So either you're like, are you bad at your job or. [SPEAKER_01]: Did you just figure it out? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what happened? [SPEAKER_02]: They've been risk-averse for the first six years of this regime, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: So it was pretty funny hearing this comments.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I agree on the surface, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Like, especially for a small market, you need to be aggressive. [SPEAKER_02]: You need to make some trades. [SPEAKER_02]: You can't be conservative, man. [SPEAKER_02]: You gotta keep developing and turning out talent, drafting. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, you can't, they're not really a huge margin of error. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I mean, let's let's get a little bit risky this deadline and it's coming up quickly.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just kind of surprised we haven't seen another trade outside of Adam Frazier yet, but this should be a busy week. [SPEAKER_02]: I have my phone on me right now. [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm looking down. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just checking Twitter for the chance that we get the break something on that said, do you trust?
[SPEAKER_01]: Ben chairington to make the trades that are ultimately going to affect the next couple of years of this franchise because it seems like there's a little bit of a split discourse on the internet right now when it comes to trading some kassets such as Mitch Keller. [SPEAKER_01]: Half of Pirates fans think yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Mitch Keller is great.
[SPEAKER_01]: He eats innings, but this is the only way that you're going to get bats at a major league level or that are close to it because if you look right now, you have nobody and I mean nobody. [SPEAKER_01]: that is going to be a key contributor, unless something magical happens, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Not at AAA, not really even at AA, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Unless you're counting term R, who, as you know, streaky hit or missed, still has a lot of holes in the swing.
[SPEAKER_01]: So are we trusting Ben Cherington to make that trade in, and like I was mentioning, [SPEAKER_01]: Appetite Internet thinks yes, bring him back from the outside. [SPEAKER_01]: You're not able to develop them on your own. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have any bats ready or Mitch Keller is a key pieces team. [SPEAKER_01]: Why would you trade someone who contributes to your very slim chances of winning on a week to week basis? [SPEAKER_01]: And he gives you the best shot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why not just build around that? [SPEAKER_01]: And what I say to the people that [SPEAKER_01]: We're in time and we're with the latter. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That statement is, are you blind? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, not been watching what's been happening for the past six years under this regime, under this front office. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to go out in the office using and spend money. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to develop bats.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to drink the hope in again in the offseason, thinking everything's going to change. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not. [SPEAKER_01]: It simply is not. [SPEAKER_01]: There's nobody on the way. [SPEAKER_01]: You need to use your assets to bring in vats. [SPEAKER_01]: They did it a little bit with Luis Ortiz, but they need to do it with a bigger name, such as Mitch Keller, that's going to you do a higher return.
[SPEAKER_01]: or David Bednor or Dennis Santana, anything that's going to help you next year right now because you have no other help on the way and they are not going to sign a key player in free agency. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to do it. [SPEAKER_02]: Amen, brother. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, listen, it's fun when we disagree a little bit, just because we can have this, we can have a back and forth debate, but I'm with you here step by step.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I couldn't agree more with you. [SPEAKER_02]: And I was going to be a little bit more polite about it, about that you were in polite, but yeah, we got, you got a live in reality, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Like, do I want to move Mitch Keller? [SPEAKER_02]: I love Mitch. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, he is a great part of this team. [SPEAKER_02]: But then the people that are against moving him, how do you suggest we get better? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they should spend more money.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you should. [SPEAKER_02]: No shit. [SPEAKER_02]: Like we know that. [SPEAKER_02]: But they're not going to. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's only one way to get better and they don't have the depth right now in this system. [SPEAKER_02]: to hope for another back to come up. [SPEAKER_02]: Like you've got a trade from the depth of arms that you have, but which they clearly can develop. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, look at the pitching stats this week against Arizona.
[SPEAKER_02]: We'll get into on the game by game recap. [SPEAKER_02]: And Arizona, I know they're selling, but like they're not more of a five hundred club this year with some injuries. [SPEAKER_02]: We have them the one run. [SPEAKER_02]: Like this is a really good pitching staff. [SPEAKER_02]: And you've got to take advantage of these guys when you're not competing, you have to put these guys for future talent, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't mean future talent five years from now, I think this team could be good next year, if this trade deadline and the offseason, go well. [SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, man, we have, like, I don't think you have a choice, not trading much calendar would be a mistake.
[SPEAKER_02]: and not really like David Benner not capitalizing on the value they have right now would be a huge mistake teams pay a premium for this talent at the deadline because they want to get over the hump in the second half and make that final push.
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah man we just got to be more realistic of like how this organization is run and what they're going to do and I think you while you can love Miss Keller and not want him to go like I do and like you don't like you do [SPEAKER_02]: Um, he's going to bring us back a big prospect. [SPEAKER_01]: You should. [SPEAKER_01]: He's the biggest name on the trademark it when it comes to arms easily. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not even closest here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You saw the other one in Zach Allen today. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, and he pairs of actually beat him twice this year. [SPEAKER_02]: Like he's just not at his ace level this year. [SPEAKER_02]: He's definitely had a rough go, but yeah, Mitch Keller like any team, he's going to be if a team makes it to a world series, like there's a chance that he's a third starter in your playoff rotation.
[SPEAKER_02]: because he's going to get you deep into games and he's going to get you over that hump these last two months in the dog days of summer to finish out of season. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm telling you that I guess the rumor is now it's just jump into it. [SPEAKER_02]: The cubs are really liking much color.
[SPEAKER_02]: So this is [SPEAKER_02]: big, you know, point of contention in pirates, Twitter or part social media because we don't want to trade our guy to division rival Chicago Cubs who cares. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't care because they're offering a guy like Owen Casey and [SPEAKER_02]: Some people think he's not good, but we don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't made his big league debut yet.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's hit in two, seventy, eight, three, seventy, seven, five, sixty, three with twenty-homers in AAA. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a top-fifty prospect. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a top-fifty prospect in all a baseball. [SPEAKER_02]: If a team is offering this from each color, I think you take it. [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think they're going to get, who is the better prospect than, in case if they're going to get returned.
[SPEAKER_02]: Spencer Jones, I don't know if it gets Spencer Jones from each color. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's a deal. [SPEAKER_01]: People are just worried. [SPEAKER_01]: about everything when it comes to the pirates. [SPEAKER_01]: And I understand because if you look at the trade history, I could go through every single trade that Ben Cherington has made to date and you're going to give it an an F grade overall. [SPEAKER_01]: It's bad like Joey Bartz at the top of the list here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So [SPEAKER_01]: You look at an own case. [SPEAKER_01]: You look at a Spencer Jones prospect. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, as Ben Charrington said today, we might have to go for some guys that aren't proving yet in order to help this team. [SPEAKER_01]: We might not have a choice, really. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just kind of how we operate.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if we're being realistic about it, we can't be negative about every single return or prospect that that's coming back in a trade because one [SPEAKER_01]: We just simply don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: And two, it's not getting much better. [SPEAKER_01]: You need to take chances. [SPEAKER_01]: You need to maybe a big swing in a mix.
[SPEAKER_01]: Would you rather the pirates hold on to Mitch Keller and win sixty games or would you rather them trade it for bats and see what you can get out of a lineup and see if you could produce runs because you know you have arms for days. [SPEAKER_01]: They do very well with that. [SPEAKER_01]: They draft very well with that. [SPEAKER_01]: They develop the arms very well. [SPEAKER_01]: They got guys on the way in addition to what they already have.
[SPEAKER_01]: You need to take chances on the young bats or on top prospects that you just simply have not had on the offensive side of the ball. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so we could talk all day about strikeout rate at AAA, AA, whatever it may be any flaw in somebody's swing. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's the perfect prospect and we don't know until we know. [SPEAKER_01]: And one, you've got to get them over here to begin with, right? [SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a top ten hitting prospects.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a guy that's going to sit at the top of our organization right now outside of Connor Griffith and Edward Fourntino that are a ways away. [SPEAKER_01]: you have to take the risk. [SPEAKER_01]: And if they're said if we're going to believe that they're not going to be that they're going to take risks, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And they're not going to sit back and try and develop guys and and play it cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Then this is the type of moves that you have to make.
[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot be scared to trade for somebody's top prospect or maybe somebody that's not as proven in order to potentially help the team. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just you have to be okay with that reality. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the type of, they have to make. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm rooting for that type of move because it means that they're trying. [SPEAKER_01]: They're taking a risk. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like what else, they need to make take a risk.
[SPEAKER_02]: What other risk can it take like last year? [SPEAKER_02]: I see a lot of people that are against the Mitch Keller trade arguing for a more of a minor league deal where they did, like they did with Billy Cook last year. [SPEAKER_02]: That's not going to get you over the edge, right? [SPEAKER_02]: That type of deal might build up a level depth. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's not going to get you over the edge.
[SPEAKER_02]: And Owen Casey has starting corner out filled potential in this league. [SPEAKER_02]: And I'd love to see him as a pirate man. [SPEAKER_02]: I think because I think he'd be up here right away. [SPEAKER_02]: He's really close. [SPEAKER_02]: He's blocked in Chicago. [SPEAKER_02]: It just makes a lot of sense. [SPEAKER_02]: I think if the cubs were not in the NFL central, a lot of fans would look at this differently.
[SPEAKER_02]: But I think there's an opportunity here for the pirates to get better. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I really like what they did with the Adam Frazier trade. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not like sexy, but came to Vaney is gonna be a short stop here and Pittsburgh pretty soon probably. [SPEAKER_02]: He'll probably get a shot and he's been, he's a legit short stop too. [SPEAKER_02]: We haven't had that.
[SPEAKER_02]: Came to Vaney was, I've been seeing like these highlight real plays he's making in Indianapolis this week. [SPEAKER_02]: Pretty exciting stuff and I know he's older, but I'm excited to see these guys get an opportunity. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I want to see a Nick York. [SPEAKER_02]: I want to see a Billy Cook who is absolutely cooking [SPEAKER_02]: in AAA right now. [SPEAKER_02]: And I want to see an Owen Casey and some other guys getting an opportunity here at the second half.
[SPEAKER_02]: But again, I think it's time to take a different approach. [SPEAKER_02]: This trade deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: I last year they kind of forced the Brian Dale accrues trade. [SPEAKER_02]: didn't really make a lot of sense. [SPEAKER_02]: But I think that you got to go over, you got to do your best to get some high end talent or high upside tight players for this organization. [SPEAKER_02]: So we can be better for twenty- twenty-six.
[SPEAKER_01]: Last year in that BDOC trade, they traded away Shim and Macadoo. [SPEAKER_01]: Macadoo for, it was Shim and Forcer and then they traded IKF for Macadoo. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: How's Macadoo doing this year? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no. [SPEAKER_01]: Not good. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was one of our top prospects. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So both trades, you gave away a very eye-sealing arm who, I don't even know if he's pitched this to your ship.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if he has it has not been good, he saw them just injured all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Forcer, not doing anything. [SPEAKER_01]: Macadoo for ICF, ICF is contributed to this team. [SPEAKER_01]: Macadoo is not going anywhere in the BlueJays organization. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: and we could have told you that. [SPEAKER_01]: So again, you cannot hug guys in this organization that are too close to the heart.
[SPEAKER_01]: The pirates have already broken your hearts at enough times. [SPEAKER_01]: Stop holding on to stuff that is just going to continue to do the same thing over and over again. [SPEAKER_01]: The comments today are real and I know it was kind of very convoluted and [SPEAKER_01]: poorly worded and typical Ben sharing to nonsense when it comes to just speaking to the media. [SPEAKER_01]: But if we're going to make moves and we're trusting him to make moves, I hope it's big.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hope it's risky. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't at this point, you cannot be too close to anyone in this organization when it comes to players. [SPEAKER_01]: You have to be willing to move on. [SPEAKER_01]: And we need a fresh start. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a big deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: And I hope we're not disappointed.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen more like I said, but this will be a busy week for us for sure. [SPEAKER_02]: Before we go into the game recap, Adam, if you don't know if you have anything else to touch on with the trade deadline, but I don't. [SPEAKER_01]: But you should go over the total sports enterprises. [SPEAKER_01]: The option shop.com for all of your Pittsburgh sports memorabilia needs. [SPEAKER_01]: We gave out some cool stuff at the ballpark this past home stand.
[SPEAKER_01]: Go to tsc shop.com. [SPEAKER_01]: Pirates penguins. [SPEAKER_01]: Steelers. [SPEAKER_01]: Steelers at training camp right now. [SPEAKER_01]: I get some cool autographs over there. [SPEAKER_01]: Pirates penguins. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, go to tsc shop.com. [SPEAKER_01]: Go in the description below to let them know. [SPEAKER_01]: Bucco. [SPEAKER_01]: Banner sent you and sports card junction just loaded this up. [SPEAKER_01]: with boxes of cards to give away at the park.
[SPEAKER_01]: We gave away the updated Bowman Chrome. [SPEAKER_01]: We gave away one of the singular autographed cards. [SPEAKER_01]: This week at the park was a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Noah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Noah wanted Noah Castro fan of the show. [SPEAKER_01]: Friend of the show. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was a Mackenzie Gore autographed card. [SPEAKER_01]: I think twenty seven out of ninety nine.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's all because sports card junction made it happen the best sports card store in all the Pittsburgh ninety eleven Perry Highway. [SPEAKER_01]: Baseball football basketball hockey, Pokemon, whatever your heart desires, sports card junction has you covered again. [SPEAKER_01]: That's nine to eleven Perry. [SPEAKER_01]: Highway, you can go to the website, sportscardjunction.com. [SPEAKER_01]: Scott, let's get into these game recaps.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll get us kicked off before we do that. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't mean to interrupt, but I just want to say real quick, Dave Parker. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: He's inducted in the Hall of Fame today. [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't get to watch too much of it, but I did see a pretty cool, you know, Dave Parker the second read a poem that his dad wrote. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, that he wanted him to read at his induction ceremony and pretty cool stuff, man.
[SPEAKER_02]: Dave Parker should have been in a while ago, but I loved it to wear an acoper patch for the rest of the year and a pretty cool, um, just event at the ballpark this week. [SPEAKER_02]: They had the wall out and in right field that you could sign. [SPEAKER_02]: His baseball is going to go down the river walk. [SPEAKER_02]: I believe it's going to go down this week. [SPEAKER_02]: Um, they had that on display out by the, uh, center field entrance, but, uh, shout out to the cober man.
[SPEAKER_02]: I growing up. [SPEAKER_02]: Here, all I heard was my mom talking about how much she loved those seventies teams and Dave Parker was a big reason why. [SPEAKER_02]: And we know a lot of fans of some of our older listeners that are big Dave Parker fans, which is what brought them into Pirates baseball. [SPEAKER_02]: So shout out to the co-brand, you know, obviously much deserved. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into Friday versus Diamondbacks. [SPEAKER_01]: The Pirates had one hit.
[SPEAKER_01]: zero to one loss and eleven innings eleven innings ed one hit Mike burrows was great six innings three hits no runs one walk five case got four fifteen year a right now and then the bullpen also fantastic mats and Santana bednard ashcraft for two innings and then fam had a triple on the day and that was it seven strikeouts four walks one hit zero for nine runners and scoring position in nine left on base
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's not let this pour off in some performance, you know, make us forget about this great outing from Mike Burroughs. [SPEAKER_02]: Mike Burroughs, he's had the one bad outing while right before the All Star Break, but he was electric in this outing, and he's someone who I think, he can maybe be the next Mitch Keller. [SPEAKER_02]: Like I think he could be a reliable mid-rotation starter who eats innings, because I can really see it with him, and I think the stuff is electric.
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go into Saturday, Andrew Heaney, five innings, two hits, no-one, no walks, four k's, ERA down to four seventy nine, he had ten lifts, only seventy one pitches. [SPEAKER_02]: This was a bounce back outing for him that ERA got up to over five, you know, previously after his last couple of starts. [SPEAKER_02]: But I'll tell you what, this was a good outing right for the deadline.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe his last outing is a pirate, but I was kind of surprised they pulled him after seventy one pitches because [SPEAKER_02]: seeing Gritchick get the hugs and dug up for the dime back in the game funny he had his last interview with Bucco Banner. [SPEAKER_02]: That's a dime and back. [SPEAKER_02]: Nice and high, by the way. [SPEAKER_02]: Very nice. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, very nice. [SPEAKER_02]: But thought the same thing happened with Heenie.
[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's a lot of chatter online about it, but he's still here.
[SPEAKER_02]: So he was followed up by Genesis Carrera, two thirds of inning, one hit, you know on Ramirez, he finished out the inning, got the last out, one hit, one K, Caleb Ferguson, one inning, no hits, one K. [SPEAKER_02]: Dennis Santana one inning no hits one walk one k and bednar sixteen save of the year hundred career save shot at the david uh one inning no hits two k is two nineteen array man i'm just i'm still just
[SPEAKER_02]: amazed by every single outing he's had since the beginning of the year. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's been quite enjoyable watching him grow throughout the season. [SPEAKER_02]: O'Neill Cruz won for four with his seventeenth summer of the year with two RBIs. [SPEAKER_02]: And Joey Bart went two for three with a double. [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like there was this first extra base hit I've had seen him have in quite some time. [SPEAKER_02]: A six hits total.
[SPEAKER_02]: Officery three with runners, scoring position six left on base four k is two nothing went against the Diamondbacks. [SPEAKER_02]: Adam Tickus in juice. [SPEAKER_01]: Scenes, six innings, three hits, one walk, nine strikeouts, his ERA is a one eight, three right now. [SPEAKER_01]: He had twenty whiffs on the day. [SPEAKER_01]: You heard that correctly, twenty whiffs. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you had Caleb Ferguson and Carmen in the back end of the bullpen, the offense.
[SPEAKER_01]: Only Ocruz had two hits, two RBI's. [SPEAKER_01]: He Brian Hayes, two RBI's on the day. [SPEAKER_01]: And then as a team five case, two walks, nine hits, two for six runners in scoring position, five left on base. [SPEAKER_01]: Series win over the Diamondbacks. [SPEAKER_01]: Great weekend at the ballpark. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to go on a West Coast trip. [SPEAKER_01]: They have San Francisco and then Colorado.
[SPEAKER_01]: I believe before they come back to PNC Park before we take a break and get into our Giants recap. [SPEAKER_01]: Scott, we had some rain this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we did and there's something that could be useful when it's raining and you want to be outside maybe podcasting or we're playing a baseball game. [SPEAKER_02]: What is that Adam? [SPEAKER_01]: Just a nice state of the art. [SPEAKER_01]: Tom's ten that you could find.
[SPEAKER_01]: From Tom's directly from Tom, Tom's TensePGH.com. [SPEAKER_01]: Tom has you covered whatever event your heart desires. [SPEAKER_01]: Tom will make it work and we'll make it a memorable experience. [SPEAKER_01]: You could call Tom. [SPEAKER_01]: We did it last week. [SPEAKER_01]: Hold answer on the first ring. [SPEAKER_01]: He'll treat you like your family.
[SPEAKER_01]: He'll get you the best deal possible to make it affordable and [SPEAKER_01]: luxurious, and just an overall amazing experience with Tom's. [SPEAKER_01]: Tense again, go to TomSensePGH.com. [SPEAKER_01]: We could have used a lot of tents this weekend over PNC Park at our outside show. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe next time we go to TomSense and we get ourselves covered. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, go to TomSensePGH.com.
[SPEAKER_01]: Got to take a pic here and then we'll be back with our preview of the dance. [SPEAKER_02]: Adam, we are back and we are going to preview the upcoming road trip out west. [SPEAKER_02]: They go directly after days game to San Francisco. [SPEAKER_02]: The face of giants who are fifty four and fifty one, they're above the dimebacks who just played in the NL West, third in the division.
[SPEAKER_02]: Monday, there's not, there hasn't been any starters now, it's for the Giants, but Keller's schedule to go tomorrow could be his last start as a pirate. [SPEAKER_02]: It seems like it's going to be a bullpink game for the Giants. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of guys that are on the I.L. [SPEAKER_02]: Landon Roop just got moved there, but Tuesday, we've got Justin Verlander versus Bailey falter.
[SPEAKER_02]: If the schedule goes as planned, Justin Verlander, one and eight, four, seventy ERA this year, eighty four and a third innings pitch, seventeen games started, seventy Cays in a one, four, nine, whip.
[SPEAKER_02]: Thursday's fourth scene at ninety four miles an hour on average slider sits in the high eighties he throws at about twenty five percent of the time and then he mixes in a curve change and sweeper to round out the repertoire at forty two years old he's an aging veteran but he still is a back and starter with elite pedigree is forcing fastballs no longer the overpowering weapon at once was
[SPEAKER_02]: But he still commands it well up in the zone and uses it to change eye levels and get ahead in the count. [SPEAKER_02]: And then his slider, still sharp with late break remains his go to swing and miss pitch. [SPEAKER_02]: He often uses it to finish it fast, particularly against right handed headers. [SPEAKER_02]: Should be an interesting match up here in San Francisco, adds Oracle Park, a ballpark. [SPEAKER_02]: I am itching to scratch off my list.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Wednesday, right hand to pitch to Logan Web, verse Mike Burrows, this year web is nine and eight with a three, three, eight ERA and a hundred and thirty five and two thirds innings pitch. [SPEAKER_01]: Twenty two games, a hundred, four, four k's with a one, two, four whip the arsenal consists of a sinker sweeper change cutter and forseem. [SPEAKER_01]: This is established front line starter ground ball machine.
[SPEAKER_01]: The sinker is the signature pitch here heavy arm side run and elite sink to induce ground balls at one of the highest rates in all of baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: He pounds the bottom of the zone, which helps generate a ton of weak contact. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the change up is arguably his best secondary weapon, excellent fading action, especially, especially effective against left-handed hitters.
[SPEAKER_01]: Works off his sinker to keep hitters off balance and generate whiffs excited for this series. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just keep trying our best. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm more excited, honestly, just to see what changes this week. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Something's going to change. [SPEAKER_01]: If it doesn't change where you know what.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're, yeah, we don't need to say it, but it's going to be a very depressing Sunday episode. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll say that if nothing changes Wednesday, we should have a lot to talk about hopefully a mover to have already happened prior to the deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: But I anticipate Thursday being pretty busy. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we'll have Noah on at some point this week if we can get him on from San Francisco to do a little bit of a trade deadline preview or discussion.
[SPEAKER_02]: And [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's, we might have to go live if something big happens. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a, you know, very quick pod to break it down. [SPEAKER_02]: But I'm anticipating this week being on my phone nonstop. [SPEAKER_02]: Hundred percent. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, you already are playing back here, baseball nonstop.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: You were at my apartment last night and you're sitting there talking to my girlfriend and I'm sitting on the floor playing back here at baseball the entire time. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's addicting and shout out back your baseball for clapping with us this past weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: That was truly a one of the kind of experience, really, really good stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Players a little weeks got before we get out of here.
[SPEAKER_02]: Before I forget, let's, I'm gonna get, get us kicked off with the pitcher. [SPEAKER_02]: pitcher the week is Paul Schins. [SPEAKER_02]: He has been incredible this month. [SPEAKER_02]: I think he has a blow at one ERA. [SPEAKER_02]: so far in July. [SPEAKER_02]: Last two starts against the Tigers and today against the Diamondbacks. [SPEAKER_02]: Twelve innings pitched. [SPEAKER_02]: Six hits total, no one runs two walks, fifteen k's get twenty whistle.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it over thirty total in both starts, two quality starts and two consecutive wins. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, not that we really care about when lost record too much, but this is a guy who's been pitching well enough and not getting the wins. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of no decisions and he's got two consecutive for the first time this year I think. [SPEAKER_02]: So Paul, pitcher of the week, and then our hitter of the week, [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe for the first time.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it is for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Spencer Horowitz eight for twenty three on the week two doubles with a home run seven RB eyes average was at three forty eight good to see him getting hot get the back going could be a consistent piece at the front of the lineup. [SPEAKER_01]: provide a little bit of power, a lot of contact, a good approach to play. [SPEAKER_01]: So Spencer Horowitz is our hitter of the week.
[SPEAKER_01]: Scott, before we get out of here, just need to remind everybody, go to YouTube to subscribe, like leave a comment, tell a friend to tell a friend, go over to buckobandor.com. [SPEAKER_01]: get all of your merch. [SPEAKER_01]: We've seen a bunch of people at the park wearing Bucco Bander stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: It's truly awesome to see. [SPEAKER_01]: So we appreciate all the support. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're listening, download, leave a five star review that helps us out a ton.
[SPEAKER_01]: Go to all the social media. [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you're liking all the videos. [SPEAKER_01]: We try and put out a video every single day during the week and then sometimes on the weekends. [SPEAKER_01]: if possible, so we're trying to get you as much content as possible. [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you're following, liking everything, commenting, sharing. [SPEAKER_01]: And until next time, raise it. [SPEAKER_01]: Raise it.
