[SPEAKER_02]: Episode one, eighty-nine. [SPEAKER_02]: Today we recapped the White Sox series and previewed the upcoming series against the Detroit Tigers. [SPEAKER_02]: You're listening to the Bucco Bander podcast brought to you by the Just Baseball Media Network. [SPEAKER_02]: He's a music. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to another episode of Bucco Banner and fellas, Adam, ladies and gentlemen, whoever's listening right now, we have hit rock bottom. [SPEAKER_02]: Props, whoever's listening.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, seriously, like if you're listening, we love you. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, seriously, like Kudos to you, your, your psycho, but [SPEAKER_02]: You're a sick person. [SPEAKER_02]: You're a sick, sick, sick person and you need help. [SPEAKER_01]: I get prescribed someone to you if you want help. [SPEAKER_01]: Just let us know. [SPEAKER_01]: But we appreciate you too at the same time.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to hear about pirates baseball and you're here right now on July, twentieth after we just got swept by the Chicago White Sox after the Ulster Breaking went over twenty games under five hundred. [SPEAKER_01]: God bless you, seriously. [SPEAKER_02]: the first time the white talks have swept somebody this season. [SPEAKER_02]: And it wasn't even close. [SPEAKER_02]: We were out towards twenty seven to seven. [SPEAKER_02]: I was talking to Noah in the press box.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we're adding up the scores from out, from throughout the year. [SPEAKER_02]: And like this, this is going to be the worst series. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's ever. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there is no life. [SPEAKER_01]: And I will say this, too. [SPEAKER_01]: One observation, and we predicted this before the series. [SPEAKER_01]: If Aaron's of all, he pitched against the pirates, his entire career. [SPEAKER_01]: He'd be the best pitch I've ever lived.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no one Ryan. [SPEAKER_01]: No, alright, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: It's cut and absurd. [SPEAKER_01]: Like he comes in here. [SPEAKER_01]: He came in here twice last year with two different teams. [SPEAKER_01]: There's the raise and the brewers. [SPEAKER_01]: And like with five plus ERAs and just tears apart. [SPEAKER_01]: I just don't, I don't get it. [SPEAKER_01]: And it seemed, the vibes were the opposite of positive on the pirate side today. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's put that way.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was the entire series. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: But it just kept it off today. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I got the first place tigers coming in tomorrow. [SPEAKER_02]: So brutal off the same man. [SPEAKER_02]: I know I know it's tough. [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe the worst series I have personally ever been to.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And the first thing that you're like, yeah, I mean, first game back, ten to one, it's like, not cold, so it sucks. [SPEAKER_01]: But first game back from the other, it's a break. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, check the rest off. [SPEAKER_01]: Second game you gotta lead. [SPEAKER_01]: And it just went down quickly. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Burroughs pitched well for the most part. [SPEAKER_01]: And then after he came out, just the wheels came off.

[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it was, it just seemed like they were never gonna win after that. [SPEAKER_02]: Saturday was cool for a little bit. [SPEAKER_02]: Mac Miller, Bobo had, and I thought, [SPEAKER_02]: The Pirates in that room with the Inzer Palusa did really well. [SPEAKER_02]: People were happy about the Bobo head. [SPEAKER_02]: You had things around the park. [SPEAKER_02]: Pizza Penny. [SPEAKER_02]: Made her long awaited return. [SPEAKER_02]: Great Paraguay race, terrible baseball game.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to say something to let's stop at Pizza Penny. [SPEAKER_01]: I finally feel represented at Piansy Park. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy for you. [SPEAKER_01]: I've always felt like, you know, that I didn't belong. [SPEAKER_01]: And then pizza penny came along as a Italian American. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's a sixty one percent Italian American. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I felt represented at PNC Park and it was used touching man.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was touching almost brought me to tears. [SPEAKER_02]: It was what a moment. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: The power's lost that game. [SPEAKER_02]: What? [SPEAKER_02]: Ten to four. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk Andrew Haney for a second because Andrew Haney pitched today and [SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember where I saw it, but the first, uh, ten starts. [SPEAKER_02]: He's had twenty starts as a pirate.

[SPEAKER_02]: The first ten starts yet two nine one ERA. [SPEAKER_02]: Great. [SPEAKER_02]: We all knew how awesome he was for the back end of the dissertation. [SPEAKER_02]: The last ten, including the first four innings today, he has a seven five eight ERA. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're almost doing yourself a disservice by not trading him. [SPEAKER_01]: You should trade him no matter what, no matter how well he was like.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what are the percent, but like you, he's losing value every game. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: He's a tremendous value. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is unfortunate because he was a good veteran presence here. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think I think some team is going out, contending team is going to want him. [SPEAKER_01]: But again, like I jokingly, but kind of seriously texted. [SPEAKER_01]: in the group today.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, we, we need a trade hit. [SPEAKER_01]: We do shit, let him throw another pitch. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, just trade it now. [SPEAKER_02]: It's scary to think that this team had one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball statistically, right? [SPEAKER_02]: And they're so bad, right? [SPEAKER_02]: They're not winning games. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not giving them run support. [SPEAKER_02]: And now the pitching has taken a turn.

[SPEAKER_02]: Burrows had a bad start. [SPEAKER_02]: He has not been good. [SPEAKER_02]: Walter has not been good. [SPEAKER_02]: We're seeing rock bottom, but truly how bad can this get? [SPEAKER_02]: It was one side of the ball that was really bad and one that was really good and now both are underperforming significantly outside of Paul schemes and Mitch Keller. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, something I want to get into too. [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the rotation has been the bright spot this year.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to hang out through the rotation for any team. [SPEAKER_01]: The best team in baseball is not going to be stellar. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a hundred or six-day game season. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to go through spurts where like, ah, giving up more runs than usual. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just it's inevitable for every team in baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: One thing that I'm like a little bit concerned about right now is the bullpen management.

[SPEAKER_01]: Something I noticed the other day, Saturday actually yesterday. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's in his being used way too much. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're going to him every game to the point where like, I think they're putting him in a position to fail. [SPEAKER_01]: And I want to use, I want to be careful when saying that because I don't think they're trying to make him fail.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, he came in yesterday, Caleb Ferguson had probably his worst outing of the year. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he came in right afterwards. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think I feel like Isaac has pitched almost, I feel like I've seen him in every game in the last, and I know they just came off. [SPEAKER_01]: They all start break. [SPEAKER_01]: But like, was he the guy that you should have gone to in that situation?

[SPEAKER_01]: like are you just gonna throw him to the wheels fall off because he's older and he's maybe you don't see him as part of a long-term future here. [SPEAKER_01]: It was an interesting decision and I know the bullpen isn't fully healthy right now. [SPEAKER_01]: You got Johan Ramirez back. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got Genesis Carrera. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a different look than it has than it was maybe even a month ago.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I just find it odd the way that they're using these guys right now. [SPEAKER_01]: What is it gonna look like? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's going to lead much different. [SPEAKER_02]: It's going to look significantly different for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I talk about this on down the formula. [SPEAKER_01]: I like, and I'm not just saying this to say it, I think they have like a very intriguing mix of guys in the High Miners, really realized.

[SPEAKER_01]: Brandenbidwa, Ryan Harbin, Wolkenoramos, a AA, I'm definitely forgetting names Eddie Yane, and Triple A, Kyle Nicholas, who we've [SPEAKER_01]: No has to stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: We've seen it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like they have names and guys that could get an opportunity. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Eddie Yene, if I don't see him before then this season in Pittsburgh, I'd be surprised. [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's a guy that we've been talking about for a while.

[SPEAKER_01]: But it's going to look like you said very, very different and not even just at the end of the season and probably a week or two. [SPEAKER_02]: What is everything going to look like at the end? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: We were about to crown Don Kelly as like the guy, right? [SPEAKER_02]: That they're playing Donnie ball. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And let's be real. [SPEAKER_02]: Both of us have said on this show before.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same team. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: There's really not much you could do with the roster that you're given. [SPEAKER_02]: You can make the argument for Shelton too. [SPEAKER_02]: That there is not much you can do with the roster you're given. [SPEAKER_02]: It's [SPEAKER_02]: We need to complete overhaul. [SPEAKER_02]: And I've said it before, I'll say it again, every single person that's in the organization right now outside of a select few needs to change.

[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to actually get serious about building something that's going to stick, you need one, a guy at the helm that has one. [SPEAKER_02]: and that players like playing for. [SPEAKER_02]: I know Kelly has that those characteristics of being very likable and guys enjoy being in the same clubhouse with him, but we need somebody who has managed or somebody that is highly respected around the league. [SPEAKER_02]: We need a GM that isn't going to be afraid to take risks.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, obviously we can dive deeper into the whole front office and ownership and everything like that. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to tell you what's going on with that. [SPEAKER_02]: But in terms of coaching GM and just building a winning culture, you need to start again. [SPEAKER_02]: This is not work. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not year six of the rebuild. [SPEAKER_02]: It's year one again. [SPEAKER_02]: It's. [SPEAKER_02]: We need to start over.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's forget everything that's happened in the sharing ten area era. [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's we're back at ground zero. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: I think you need to go back to the drawing board and look at the formula that you that you put together because it obviously didn't work we need to rewrite it like. [SPEAKER_01]: You obviously have a bunch of guys and I don't want to get too much into like the personal.

[SPEAKER_01]: stuff, but like you have a clubhouse with some interesting personalities and maybe not the best mix of guys in terms of like in one select clubhouse. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: That was over. [SPEAKER_01]: That's all good guys. [SPEAKER_01]: And one of my favorite books I've ever read was it's called The Cubs Way. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a book about the twenty sixteen cubs and how few have seemed really prioritized makeup.

[SPEAKER_01]: And his with his team and that team really jelled together Chris Brian Anthony riso all those guys they really jelled together and I think that's a I think it's an underrated component building a team right and your two eyes paid off as a players or Brian Hayes and Brian Reynolds and they don't talk like they they are not they're kind of guys that want to be in the background and [SPEAKER_01]: for a team of market like Pittsburgh.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's no reason you can't be a Tampa Bay. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no reason you can't be a Cleveland. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no reason you can't be some of the small markets that do really well and turn out talent every year. [SPEAKER_01]: But are we targeting the right guys? [SPEAKER_01]: Are we a value? [SPEAKER_01]: Are we bringing in the right? [SPEAKER_01]: mindset. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the big question.

[SPEAKER_01]: GMBC had a presser today where he was talking about, you know, this is not where we want to be. [SPEAKER_01]: We're not in a good spot. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's just like, no shit. [SPEAKER_01]: Brother, we like everyone saw this with the offseason that you had when we coined this the most important offseason in the pirates. [SPEAKER_01]: last decade, probably, right, like in quite some time.

[SPEAKER_01]: And it was the most underwhelming offseason on earth, and they just did not get better and did not do anything. [SPEAKER_01]: They'd were not aggressive. [SPEAKER_01]: I would have much rather have seen much more Spencer Horowitz types trades, like at least you're being aggressive, at least you're like going after something you believe in and trying to build something. [SPEAKER_01]: That was the only big move they made all offseason.

[SPEAKER_01]: And [SPEAKER_01]: It shows, it shows, man. [SPEAKER_01]: I think they've got some really good personalities on this team. [SPEAKER_01]: Let me just clarify that. [SPEAKER_01]: They've got some great guys on this team. [SPEAKER_01]: But they need to go back to the drawing board. [SPEAKER_01]: They really do. [SPEAKER_01]: I've said it to you on the side at the ballpark. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to see a whole new team come August first. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I want to see a new clubhouse.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it'll be much more fun to watch even if they're not winning. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it'll be fun to watch these guys grow throughout the last two months of the season. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the teams that are likable, the teams that are able to succeed and push through adversity are the ones that mesh together that have that type of chemistry. [SPEAKER_02]: There is zero chemistry in this cloud.

[SPEAKER_02]: And we've seen it with friends from around the league that have either come on this show or have a pretty prominent spot. [SPEAKER_02]: immediately baseball say that they've gone into the Pirates Clubhouse as an outsider and one either guys just aren't in there. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not communicating. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not a good, it's just not a good environment. [SPEAKER_02]: You've built something that isn't meant to last.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we've seen it too, Adam, being on the other side of the field while we're, when we're seeing these clubhouses, like it just seems like a different vibe. [SPEAKER_01]: in Seattle. [SPEAKER_01]: Even the White Talks today, the last place they have, they have now thirty-five wins. [SPEAKER_01]: They had thirty-two coming into this series.

[SPEAKER_01]: One of the worst teams in baseball, but like they seem like they have something there, like a colson Montgomery, they've got some young guys, they've got a mixture of bets, they're all rallying, they have were in T-shirts, they with my boy Taylor on them, like they're rallying around their bets, like [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a different attitude in these dugouts compared to ours from what I've noticed. [SPEAKER_02]: It's night and day.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it takes any one with any like you don't need baseball knowledge to stand on the pirate side for a little bit and then walk what two hundred feet over to the other side and see what's happening. [SPEAKER_02]: It's [SPEAKER_02]: Much much different. [SPEAKER_02]: Also, just going back to Spencer Horowitz straight, I was talking with Noah today, while we were sitting in the press box. [SPEAKER_02]: He said, have you seen Josh Hartle's numbers recently?

[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably disgusting. [SPEAKER_02]: He is six and two in high A with a three, fourteen ERA with ADK's. [SPEAKER_01]: to be fair, like his draft stock balance, but he was going to be a first round pick at Lake Forest. [SPEAKER_01]: And leave it the Cleveland to develop again. [SPEAKER_01]: I bet you Michael Kennedy is, I don't look at his numbers. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't, not as good because he did look, but also just a very promising young arm. [SPEAKER_01]: Very promising.

[SPEAKER_02]: Partle was like the afterthought for us in that trade. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: No one thinks about my Josh Harder. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, Michael Kennedy toured up and brained him last year. [SPEAKER_01]: Got the Greensboro. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you lost Luis Ortiz, which, you know, on site, for twenty now, looking at it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, okay, but Spencer Horowitz isn't really doing much.

[SPEAKER_02]: Now, he's actually one of the worst hitters in baseball right now. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Great guy. [SPEAKER_01]: Love Spence. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it hasn't to say that I'm out on Spencer Horowitz because it's just been such a, it's only been two months of ball barely. [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think it's contagious, man. [SPEAKER_01]: When it's this bad, like, I just think it's contagious. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll talk to the bottom.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like Nicky G, there's a few bright spots of guys that are hitting Nicky G. I mean, caught sheer in there. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a say say the other one. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to say the other guy that's sitting. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, who am I missing? [SPEAKER_02]: Tommy fan. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Tommy fan. [SPEAKER_01]: Tommy fan. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, how can free a Tommy fan? [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: My I don't know why my brain is on many Ramirez right now.

[SPEAKER_02]: Listen side bit, but you have you have bright spots. [SPEAKER_02]: You have pieces that you could build around or at least at [SPEAKER_02]: could contribute to a healthy clubhouse, but right now it's toxic from everything from the clubhouse to the atmosphere at P&C Park, rightfully so. [SPEAKER_01]: Breaking, breaking news, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, and we'll be scopes.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_01]: The pirates are expected to relieve GM Benchering of his duties, likely announced tomorrow. [SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if that actually happens. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll be back. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's MLB scoops is not that's not a real thing, but it's fun. [SPEAKER_02]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_02]: It's fun. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not firing Benchering to tomorrow. [SPEAKER_02]: If they do fantastic, we're time to do it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Real, real dumb time to do it in the middle of a trade deadline. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, you already went into it saying, Hey, we're going to trust you to do this. [SPEAKER_02]: Then what? [SPEAKER_02]: Then what happens? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would bet on him being back next year, but [SPEAKER_01]: With that being said, Adam, I mean, we can go on and on about the state of this team.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into some of these game recaps. [SPEAKER_01]: You want to start us off here? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, before we do shout out to total sports enterprises, your Pittsburgh sports memorabilia hub, whatever you need, pirates, penguins, Steelers, they have it. [SPEAKER_02]: Go to tscshop.com for all of your memorabilia needs. [SPEAKER_02]: You can go into the description below. [SPEAKER_02]: Click the link. [SPEAKER_02]: Let them know. [SPEAKER_02]: Bucco, banter, send you.

[SPEAKER_02]: And this episode is brought to you by SportsCard Junction. [SPEAKER_02]: We were at the field all week. [SPEAKER_02]: It was nice to be back at PNC Park and to make it even better. [SPEAKER_02]: You're handing out cards. [SPEAKER_02]: We had a box of cards. [SPEAKER_02]: That's somebody one from trivia. [SPEAKER_02]: We had to give a random giveaway. [SPEAKER_02]: Come find us at the park. [SPEAKER_02]: All of those cards are provided by sports card junction.

[SPEAKER_02]: You go to sportscardjunction.com or go to the store. [SPEAKER_02]: Ninety eleven Perry Highway for all of your collecting needs. [SPEAKER_02]: They're the best in Pittsburgh. [SPEAKER_01]: You should definitely stop by before we get into the game recap. [SPEAKER_01]: So I want to read off a couple headlines. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: We got, we had a couple things happen coming back to the ols our break. [SPEAKER_01]: Friday, Peggy was recalled from Triple A and D. Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: He has not gotten to the game work yet, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he got into any game. [SPEAKER_01]: He played. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we did it. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: This is how much I've cared this weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, right hand picture, Johanna, over yet.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is a guy that I think we'll see in the rotation before going into the season, especially if some guys get moved like we think. [SPEAKER_01]: Had his rehab transfer to WL tuna, had a good first start there. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about more about that on tomorrow's down the farm episode.

[SPEAKER_01]: And also, GMBC, if he's still here, reports suggested that he has had phone calls, started starting Monday night, so the beginning of the ulcer break with several team teams regarding trades and he's very active. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think we're gonna have a lot to talk about with the next couple of weeks like we've been saying and I don't think that's a big shocker, but stay tuned for any more trade news.

[SPEAKER_02]: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, they lost every single one of them Friday. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's over. [SPEAKER_02]: That's it for the game we've done. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, twenty minutes in, we could wrap this up. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'll fly through this Friday, lost ten to one falter four inning six hits four earned one walk two case. [SPEAKER_02]: Give up two bombs his ERA sits at four right now. [SPEAKER_02]: Hundred percent zone contact rate on the fore seam.

[SPEAKER_02]: You look at the chart on savon. [SPEAKER_02]: He's just not competing at the top of his own. [SPEAKER_02]: Anytime Bailey falter is not succeeding on bump days. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just a lot of middle-middle misses and then uncompetitive up in the zone where he usually succeeds.

[SPEAKER_02]: The bullpen, ashcraft, Ramirez, Cabrera, Matsin, ashcraft, gave up to earn, Ramirez, gave up for earn two walks, Cabrera, one hit, one K, Matsin, one inning, offense, not much yet a double from Reynolds, Cruz, two hits yet is thirty-a-th stolen base on the year. [SPEAKER_02]: four case two walks five heads one for ten runners and scoring position six left on base Scotty bring us into Saturday [SPEAKER_01]: Saturday, ten to four loss against the wide sogs.

[SPEAKER_01]: If scored ten runs, two games in a row, my burrows look good, man. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what. [SPEAKER_01]: He looked good through the first four inning, five inning, three hits, two earned, two walks, six C's. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he didn't give up a hit until the fourth inning, but four, seventy R.A. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, seven webs, Caleb Ferguson, like I mentioned earlier, was probably his worst appearance of the year.

[SPEAKER_01]: Point, a third of an inning pitch, four hits, four earned, [SPEAKER_01]: you're at three fifty seven, madson went a third of it, and it is well, two hits to earn one walk. [SPEAKER_01]: One K, you're at the two sixty six, Majinsky finished the game three and a third, four hits to earn one walk, two K's. [SPEAKER_01]: Cruz went one for five with a triple.

[SPEAKER_01]: Could Brian Hayes, one for three with a double to our BIs, Nicky G three for five with a double NRBI, Reynolds three for five with a double, thirteen hits total three for fifteen. [SPEAKER_01]: with Mariners and scoring position. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of scattered hits here, ten left on base nine case. [SPEAKER_02]: And then today Sunday versus the white socks, they lost seven to two Andrew Heaney just got absolutely torn apart starting in the first inning.

[SPEAKER_02]: They immediately jumped on him. [SPEAKER_02]: I believe it was the second pitch of the game. [SPEAKER_02]: Meadroth took him for fan interference and to write center, double, bargis, homers, shortly after on a two-o pitch, it write into the bullpins and then top and into the Allegheny. [SPEAKER_01]: That was crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: That was crushed. [SPEAKER_01]: She got the Bucco Banner bump. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm spoiler alert, buddy. [SPEAKER_01]: You got a Bucco Banner bump.

[SPEAKER_02]: Talk to him this week. [SPEAKER_02]: He was a fifty-second different player to reach the Allegheny river. [SPEAKER_02]: Only other white sock since you know who? [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: Jim Tomey. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's a thousand sticks. [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to guess some vet like there's it was a kangryphi or someone like that, but okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.

[SPEAKER_02]: As the whole line on he and he four innings nine hits seven earned two walks. [SPEAKER_02]: One K gave up two bombs, both in consisted of Ramirez, Santana, bednard nothings out of the hearing renegade when you're down. [SPEAKER_02]: seven to two in the night. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was just like, oh, cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Here comes our closer in his entrance down seven to one. [SPEAKER_01]: We've gotten three hits this game. [SPEAKER_01]: Just brutal. [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely brutal.

[SPEAKER_02]: As a team of Levin Cays, one walk, four hits, over three runners in scoring position, three left on base. [SPEAKER_02]: Gonzalez made a couple of airs this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: He had another one today. [SPEAKER_02]: And that completes the sweep, the first sweep of this season for the white socks. [SPEAKER_02]: Just brutal. [SPEAKER_02]: We talked about it. [SPEAKER_02]: Being on over there, you see the difference in club houses.

[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, the white socks, it looks like they're rallying around some of their vets. [SPEAKER_02]: They do have some promising young guys. [SPEAKER_02]: We got a chance to talk to a couple of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Very cool. [SPEAKER_02]: not even remotely close to what we're used to seeing in terms of an uppity clubhouse or a group of guys that are inspired. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: This is just a gross matchup all around coming out of the all start break.

[SPEAKER_02]: A meaningless matchup of just two just bad ball clubs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then I'm absolutely destroyed us. [SPEAKER_01]: I saw some of the suck fans walking around with brooms today, and I was just like, this is where we are on July, twentieth. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, pretty, pretty sad, but discussing, discussing, let's get into the tigers. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, why don't you get us kicked off with the preview?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the Tigers come in, fifty-nine forty-first in the A.L. [SPEAKER_01]: Central. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they did today, or if this record includes today's game, but they're the opposite of us. [SPEAKER_01]: Twenty games above, five hundred. [SPEAKER_01]: They're doing really well. [SPEAKER_01]: Monday, we've got tomorrow. [SPEAKER_01]: Jack Flarity versus Paulski and should be a good one. [SPEAKER_01]: Jack Flarity's five and nine, with a four, six, five, R-A today.

[SPEAKER_01]: R-B-R-A this year. [SPEAKER_01]: One hundred and two-thirds innings pitch, nineteen games started. [SPEAKER_01]: Hundred, twenty-four gays and a one, two, four whip. [SPEAKER_01]: He throws a foreseam curve and slider, mixes in a change in sacred as well. [SPEAKER_01]: He's always had a fill for spin. [SPEAKER_01]: The slider remains a legitimate swing and mispitch and improvements to the cutter have helped him neutralize the lefties.

[SPEAKER_01]: So he has two variations of the slider. [SPEAKER_01]: He's got like a hard cutter and a more sweeping slider. [SPEAKER_01]: The fore seam, as average VLO sits around ninety-one to ninety-three with some life up in the zone. [SPEAKER_01]: Effectiveness depends on commanded pitch. [SPEAKER_01]: Tunneling, flat-mounted, elevated without precision.

[SPEAKER_01]: His slider, like I've said, best pitch historically, sharp, late break with excellent horizontal movement used as both a chase and strike-stealing pitch. [SPEAKER_02]: Tuesday, right-handed pitcher Casey Mies versus Mitch Keller, which could potentially be Mitch's last star. [SPEAKER_01]: A Pancy.

[SPEAKER_02]: This year, my is nine and three with a three, fifteen ERA in eighty eight and two thirds and in pitch sixteen games seventy seven k's with a one two two whip versus the pirates this year. [SPEAKER_02]: He went six innings five heads to earn no walks four k's and a seven to three Detroit W the arson was a four seemed split slurves slider in a sinker [SPEAKER_02]: Plus command and pitchability, sequencing and advance feel for pitching.

[SPEAKER_02]: His forcing sits in the mid-nineties with decent life up in the zone. [SPEAKER_02]: Command can be inconsistent, but he's capable of spotting it both sides of the plate when dialed in. [SPEAKER_02]: The splitter is the signature pitch and one of the best splitters in baseball when it's on. [SPEAKER_02]: Generates late, vertical drop and swing in miss potential, especially against left handed hitters, which will bring us to Sunday, Scott.

[SPEAKER_01]: Sunday, we've got Reese Olsen versus Bailey Falter. [SPEAKER_01]: Reese Olsen is four and three with a two, seven, one ERA this year. [SPEAKER_01]: Sixty three innings pitch, twelve games started. [SPEAKER_01]: Sixty one case in a one, nineteen whip throws a sinker change slider for seeming curve. [SPEAKER_01]: Command and pitchability give him a high four while his slider change of combo offers swing and miss potential.

[SPEAKER_01]: His forcing solid VLO with right up in the zone, not overpowering, but he locates it well. [SPEAKER_01]: And it sets up his secondaries effectively. [SPEAKER_01]: His sliders is go to swing and miss pitch. [SPEAKER_01]: Tight horizontal break and tunnel well off his fastball. [SPEAKER_01]: Effective against both lefties and righties. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a very solid mid rotation arm. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a tough week, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we just faced Jonathan Cannon, Ernest of all A, and I don't forget who pitched yesterday. [SPEAKER_01]: You started for the white stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a much better staff. [SPEAKER_01]: Who cares? [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I tweeted today. [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, Ernest of all A known pirate color and someone said a posing picture, known pirate killer. [SPEAKER_01]: I saw that. [SPEAKER_01]: That was fair enough.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's always going to be a tough match up here for this offense, but let's see the Tigers in town. [SPEAKER_01]: Some good baseball, a solid team. [SPEAKER_01]: We get the watch and we'll be at the ballpark. [SPEAKER_01]: What Monday and Tuesday? [SPEAKER_02]: Monday and Tuesday. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And just shout out to Quick to Sterling Sam, Jack, the whole Pirates video team, social media, give credit. [SPEAKER_02]: We're credit to you.

[SPEAKER_02]: They killed it with the Mac Miller stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: and this has been in the work for months and months and behind the scenes. [SPEAKER_02]: I got a little cameo in the scoreboard, scared the shit out of me. [UNKNOWN]: What? [SPEAKER_02]: It played multiple times apparently. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm asking him to send me the clip because I need to see it. [SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't hear it.

[SPEAKER_02]: But just, I mean, you see how much that means to the people of Pittsburgh and put it this way. [SPEAKER_02]: People of Pittsburgh are very passionate. [SPEAKER_02]: We love people from Pittsburgh that represent the city. [SPEAKER_02]: We love our sports teams. [SPEAKER_02]: Pirates fans love the pirates. [SPEAKER_02]: They're going to continue to love the pirates, but just like anything. [SPEAKER_02]: When things go bad, you get emotional, you get frustrated.

[SPEAKER_02]: And that love can turn our real quick. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't mean that they're going to leave. [SPEAKER_02]: They're still going to show up, but they're going to let you know about it. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's what you had this weekend. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a good example of how passionate Pirates fans can be and what it could be on just a normal day at the park if you put a little bit of effort into this franchise.

[SPEAKER_02]: And again, props to them for making something out of nothing. [SPEAKER_02]: for this weekend from the chalk art, to the music, to the bobbleheads, to just the scenes from around the park, very well done. [SPEAKER_02]: Let's play the Detroit Tigers this week. [SPEAKER_02]: D, two, right. [SPEAKER_02]: D, two, right, and then we got the Diamondbacks coming in on the weekend.

[SPEAKER_02]: You, any of us, were as his hit, [SPEAKER_02]: five multi-hit home run games in the last like five. [SPEAKER_02]: It's he's tearing the cover off the ball. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited for the dime-back sex weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's going to be a fun series. [SPEAKER_01]: There are another team that could be moving a lot pieces. [SPEAKER_01]: That could be a trade candidate for us. [SPEAKER_01]: They're looking for control bombs.

[SPEAKER_01]: Could we swap a Mitch Keller for a Jordan Lawler? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that something that's plausible? [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: We should have no on the show. [SPEAKER_02]: to talk trades. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll do a trade deadline special before July, thirty first at some point. [SPEAKER_02]: So absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, thank you for listening.
