Second Date Update: Dine For One But I'm Not Done

Second date, up date. Eating alone at a restaurant isn't necessarily taboo.

Yeah, it could be really nice alone.

Oh yeah, A lot of people enjoyed dining by themselves because it can be very peaceful, reflective, very fulfilling experience.

Still have to share.

Especially it's especially fulfilling if you loudly moan after every single bite you take. Oh my god, oh yeah, oh my god. Have you guys tried this excellent waiter? Pass my plate over the table there, they need to take a bite of this.

Okay, you may be someone who shouldn't eat a looney. Yeah.

Well, one of our listeners, Lauren, is also comfortable at a table for one, and curiously that's how she ended up meeting a guy the other night. Oh so it works out in a whole lot of ways. Lauren. Welcome to the show.

I want to know, Lauren, is it something that you do often, going out to eat by yourself?

Actually? Yes, and I love it because I'm I have a foodie.

Okay, I'm kind of a drinky, so yeah, it's.

Whatever it is comes in liquid form. So you went out by yourself the other night to a restaurant I did.

It was this super nice restaurant in town that I've been I've really been wanting to try it. Yeah, and I heard really good things, but it's super hard to get a reservation, even for one, even for one. Wow, it's good, exactly exactly. I went there the other night by myself, hoping that you know, I could do a walk in.

Yeah, yeah, with one person. That's kind of reasonable.

Like sometimes you can.

It, exactly. But I go up to the host in and they told me it was almost a two hour wait to get a table.

You're like, I don't take up much room exactly like a chair.

Yeah, I'll just leave whatever's left at somebody's table once they get up.

Wow did you wait or what did you do?

So this is what happened. This guy he overheard the interaction at the host stand and he walks up to me and says, you're only one person. We have a reservation for four, but one of our friends couldn't make it.

Wow, Alexis, you would totally do that for a stranger, right, you know.

Them maybe you're with friends you don't really want to talk to, so you add one more person to the mix and whatever.

The reason, it's cool. You got an invite. What did you say? So nice?

Okay? So at first I was like, you know, no, I don't want to impose, but it was really nice, right, And he was like, don't even worry about it, it's fine. So I agreed.

That's say that's really cool.

I mean, and if he's attractive, you're not going to say sure. Definitely easy on the eyes for sure.

Okay, So who did you end up sitting with? It was him and who else?

It was him and a couple of his friends, which were two other women.

Okay, I got to know all of them.

Yes, they work together, they're coworkers.

Okay, that's like if all of us went to lunch. Yeah, man, that's a good look on him. What's his name by the way, Adam?

For a minute, I was like, oh my god, I'm going to totally do this with my husband next time.

We got to eat and I'm like, no, it looks weird. Couple asks a single person not the same.

At this dinner table with Adam and his two female co workers. How was that? Was that weird or did it feel normal?

It was funny because he kept telling me, it's okay, I've been ditched on first dates before, don't bear Oh.

Did you correct him? Did you tell him?

Absolutely. I told him like, I actually came by myself. I don't have a problem eating alone. I just love eating good food.

And then they all laughed, like, what a funny joke.

She's really okay.

They definitely thought I was strange for sure. Okay, they still were kind and sweet to me. So and the meal was phenomenal. It was absolutely phenomenal.

I mean, and that makes for easy conversation even with strangers when the food's good, because you can talk about it all.

Was there sharing that would be weird?

Well there was sharing of bottles of wine, for sure. We did split a couple of those.

Now we're all best friends by the end of the And were you feeling a vibe with this guy at all?

Totally, I was totally feeling a connection, and I think it would be more fun if it was just me and him.

No, But I do think if there's a guy that's eating himself with two female co workers, he's probably not in a relationship.

I thought that was so cool. Yeah, that's really nice thing. Yeah.

I did see her there. I thought she was attractive. I was trying to be nice, but I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

Why it's okay, okay, so we STI haven't gotten to what part of the meal was weird?

Was embarrassing to Mike. I was with my co workers and we were all just trying to be nice, like, just give her your phone. They gave her bones to three in her hands at one point. But what are you doing?

Honestly though, even when she mentioned it, it was just like a side like it wasn't a big.

I mean, we were just trying to be nice. And when she told us she was a foodie before this had we thought, oh, that's interesting. But this wasn't just the first port. This was the appetizers, this was the main port.
