I'm a man of the people. Grant, that's going to say you k wait coms Perel Hotline, ring another man, other people on Cody roarc Cody, how you doing this evening? My friend? You are a man of the people. I'd have to say, like, that's the number one thing people don't understand that Benjamin alright in real life he's one of the best people I know, man, So I have to throw that out there. I appreciate it. Yeah, the character I play on Twitter is just a little
far from you know, actual me. But you know, whatever, it's it's it is what it is. I'm gonna start off by asking you what you would do, because we'll get to what the Broncos are going to do, what we think they're going to do, all that kind of stuff. But if general manager Cody Roark was going into this draft the way that it's set up, what would be your aim? What would what would you be
trying to pull off? Here? You know, I feel like, for me, I know the quarterback that I would take right uh you know, for me, I would take bow nixt but I'm not going to take him
twelfth overall here. If I have a field, he's going to be available maybe late, you know, late round one, if you can maybe trade back a little bit or even like early round two, if you can try to you know, trading, you know, changing place someone at twelve is going to get you maybe an early spot in round two and you can double dip at the end of round one there I would take, you know, ideally bow a second round if that's the case, and I would add,
to be honest, to another wide receiver into the mix. Heere for the
Broncos. And the reason I say that, I think is just because of the development this week right with obviously Cortland not reporting for voluntary workouts, which is completely fine as voluntary, but the fact that you know, he was the only guy that Russell Wilson told last year when everything was going on behind the scenes, Courtland, you know, is now Cortin's playing the levers to his you know, his ability, which I think at this point he's going
to be, hey, extend me or trade me, which I think at this point I think the team might look to trade him versus extending him at this point. So if that's going to be the case, if that's what Dever's going to do, go get you a round one wide receiver to parallomside, Tim Patrick, Marvin Nims, Josh Reynolds, maybe little Jordan Humphrey getting some run, and then hey, you have another guy into the mix. It's going to be a round for quite some time. To me, that
is the most appealing move that I would do. The TM. Yeah, and I tend to agree with that if I'm saying to twelve, if I'm looking at the trade back and the possibility of picking up bone Nicks. By the way, if you looked at the betting propositions, bo Nix is currently the over under on him is thirty two and a half, with it heavily weighted to him being later than pick thirty two. It's minus two hundred that he'd be picked after thirty two plus one sixty if you think he's going before
that, so he can makes up some money. If you think or have intel that he's going before the thirty second pick in the draft, which is the last pick in the first round, I tend to agree with you, though I don't see a scenario in which emptying out the coffers to try to get up and get one of these other quarterbacks is beneficial to a team that
is not a quarterback away. And I've been over that repeatedly over the last few days, where I'm like, you know, look at the teams that did trade up that were successful, they're the ones that already had a team built. You know. Kansas City I already had the team built when they moved up for Pat Mahomes. The Niners already had the team built when they moved up for Tree last Now, Lance didn't work out, but perty from
that draft did. The premise is, you know, when you have a team built, generally, that's the time that you empty because you don't need the sense to build a team, you already built it. How you got the quarterback? Right? Yeah? Well, and that's the key here for Denver as well. I mean for them, they're going to have all of their you know, traft capital going into next year. They're not going to be in a situation without a first or second as of you know right now.
But I just, you know, I've seen all these scenarios where if you're going to move up from twelve to four wall, it's gonna include you know, slopping with twelve this year. It's also going to include your first round next year. Is they to include your first round the year after that? How do you build the team in this window that Sean Payton has, like he's gonna got four years left on his deal, Well, all of a sudden, there's three years that he's had on his overall contract where he's
not gonna have a first round pick to work with. To me, I just don't think that is what he's going to do. And look, you guys have a lot more intel on background. They have a little bit more of an idea maybe how some other teams are fairing or what they're thinking the NFL draft that will make them, you know, make the most informed decision. Whether it's to be aggressive and trade up, whether that's to trade back and a quan umble capital really just depends on how they view it, right.
I think that's where the consensus of the draft conversation, Ben, I think it kind of gets lost. And you think that's where the commentary gets divisive. I saw it. You know, you even put out as well this week, which I agree with you, like mock draft fatigue is really
sitting it at this point. And I tell you what I'm over mock draft mondays, I'm with you there, but The reality is is even these these big boards, these mock draft simulators, they have their own consensus on who they think are the top you know, twenty five, top thirty two players, But it may be entirely different on the Broncos big board into who they had one through thirty two. And you know, I think at the end of the day, if the team feels great about it, you will can
we want them to write. It's not about what we want them to do, It's about what they feel like they want to do. And obviously they're going to make the best informed decision hopefully, right. I think Bronc those countries is waiting to see on that. To me, I think that he's
got to play. It's smart here and if you can maintain keeping your capital next year and you know, in a couple of years from now, I think that's the best move, you know, for Denver because look, if you look at the free agency list next year, Ever's got twenty plus dudes hitting the open market that you know, your role player, some guys are started, or some guys are you know, maybe look for an extension. But they're gonna have some tough decisions to make next year as well. So
you know what is the vision for the team. I'm hoping we got to find out when they meet with the media. Yeah, we got the press of tomorrow and that'll be interesting. I think a lot of people don't expect it to them out too much. But we'll see if theyd on how many quarterback questions get asked? All of them? Yeah, and the question I have prepared is not a quarterback question. We'll see if that if that changes when we get there. Talking with Cody Roarkira Mile High Sports, Cody,
Okay, we've talked about what we would do. Now let's talk about the Denver Broncos. And yes, Sean Payton does have a history of being aggressive, does have a history of moving up in the draft. George Peyton, conversely, as a history of being a bit more patient, a bit more conservative, and a bit more value minded in terms of how he approaches the
draft. We saw that, I think on full display when Nate Hackett was the coach and desperately want of Greg dulsicch and he kind of played the board knowing where the value was for Dulsage to be able to get it for him while also multiplying picks. What do we expect to win out here. Do we expect Sean Payton to just you know, mortgage you everything, go up and get some guy, or do you think that the voice of reason or like what I would consider the voice of reason in the room causes a maybe
a more state or measured approach. I think we might see a more state of measured approach. I felt like last year where we saw Denver obviously trading up into the end of round two to get Marvin Mims, I felt like that was, hey, we don't have capital here, we need to get really good players. And I think that's where we saw them be a little bit more aggressive last year with the limited capital and the resources that they did
have there, with all the circumstances. Consider now they have eight picks this year that have flexibility to do a little bit, you know, of everything
there. But I do think we're gonna see a little mild managered approach there because I think at the end of the day, if your goal is to get the quarterback and you feel like that guy is going to you know, not be available at twelve, and you're going to try to trade up before like you run the risk of another team getting intel of that and trying to swoop up ahead of you, which you know, there are a couple of teams that could do that. Minnesota probably has the most firepower right now to
be able to do that. The Raiders could do that, though, I have seen where they could maybe even trade back and get you know, in the back end a round one and maybe get you know, a quarterback in an offensive tackle. I saw you point something out like that as well on social media. Like Denver, they have to make moves only for what's good for them. I know Daniel Jeremia said it to Dad on his conference call. He believes that, you know, a quarterback can come in and have
success here in Denver, but there's questions. I mean, then there's gonna be a new starting center. We don't know the long term outlook at the left tackle position here with Denver, with Garrett being in the final year is deal, no guaranteed money. And then on top of that, you know you're going to hope that your run game is sustainable is here because you're gonna have a run game, it's not going to matter what quarterback you get.
And I think that has to be the emphasis so far this offseason we'll see that philosophy changes a little bit. Yeah, I tend to agree, and I think that's that's sort of the thing. I believe that what's the best way to put this. I know that there's a team that I don't think a lot of people are projecting to trade up right now, that's drafting in the back third of the first round that wants an offensive tackle and they're not going to be in a position to get the one they want, so they
might be considering trading up with the Denver Broncos. I'll tell who that team is the next segment. We'll get a chance to kind of kick that one around for them. The people that have been uh will be waiting on that. But I'll say it feels like that there are gonna be some opportunities to move backwards for the Broncos here and or the Raiders and be able to pick guys up. Who are some guys that you would love to see the Broncos
select. Let's let's presume a trade back here. Who are some guys you'd like to see the Broncos pick if they traded back somewhere between you know, eighteen and twenty five. Yeah, that's a great question. I mean so much as dependent. You know, I lean a little bit on I know a lot of people have never teken an edge rusher. They don't know if
that's the move that you want to make right now. Denver understandably next year, like this is Jonathan Cooper and Baron Brownings last year of their rookie deals. I understand that you have Nick Benito who took a huge step forward. I'm more comfortable with the edge rusher group than I think a lot of people
are. So like for me, it wouldn't be an ed rusher in my opinion, And obviously guys like Dallas Turner, I think Jared Versus we got long gone before you know, Denver gets to eighteen or twenty five in that regard. You know, I've been bouncing a little bit back and forth on cornerback as well. I know it's not the popular pick in Broncos country, but I think Terry On Arnold's going to probably go first in terms of the
first cornerback off the board. Obviously quinnyin Mitchell has been getting a lot of run as well. Does Denver need that? I mean, it's obviously Denver looking at bringing in some veteran guys like last week Levi Wallace. A few weeks ago they were interested in signing Christian Fulton. Those fell through a little bit for them, and you know that tells me the heye, they're still looking to add any cornerback to the room for Themari Mathis and Riley Moss,
And so I bounced between cornerback. I bounced between that. And then also I look at Amarus Mims, obviously an offensive tackle, and anythink to myself, like is this never's best position right now? And maybe try to get a guy and see if he can be all power anchor there on the left side of the art's gonna have this year. A rookie like Mimes can learn from him. Obviously, if Denver's going to move on from Garrett after this year, if that is in fact the plan, I'd say I bounced between
those positions. But man, I just can't help be enamored by the wide receiver group here. And look, I don't think Roll mcdonjay is going to be available. If Denver were to trade back to eighteen. I think he's going to be top twelve, top thirteen, something along those lines there. But man, but he'd be a nice addition to add to the mix that.
I mean, that's kind of where I'm leaning here, Ben. It's just there, there's a multitude of positions that I feel like, you know, they can benefit from OVI see, you know, I think defensive tackle is another one we can look at. Obviously with the sweat having the DUI over the you know, the past week, and that could drop his value. Sigifficant that I could play out well for Denver, you know, in round number three or maybe even later if he drops to round four, like
Denver's got an opportunity to you know, take some chances here. I just think that they've got to address it in the order. I think quarterback's obviously the most important. Outside of that, I'm going to go detackle, offensive tackle, and then cornerback and receivers my top five needs there for Denver.
It's interesting you mentioned wide receiver there, because even though I don't know that the quality of that room is necessarily where you want it, the quantity feels like you have enough bodies at this point, even without uh Courtland Sutton. But I get where you're coming from there. It'd be nice to have that
kind of thing. I go back and you look at Sean Payton's history and you know, he tends to have one rod receiver that he pays that it's you know, that's kind of the X. And then you know, maybe one of the guy on kind of a mid level deal, maybe two, and then the rest of them tend to be on rookie deals. So that would be that would be sort of fascinating to see. The thing that I that most greats on me is because I do believe the edge rush rotation could
use a boost. But I'm not opposed to taking a corner at twelve if they feel that he's the guy, you know, like Quinn and Mitchell at twelve doesn't bug me in the least. But I watched the Broncos fan base
on social media and there's a meltdown. I think everyone forgets. Remember the Houston Texans game where Nico Collins almost had two hundred yards at halftime, and you know, I'm and outside of that towards the in stretch, like the Raiders exploded in the passing game against him in the secondary last year, Like you know, I wasn't Fabian Moreau really sell off after really I think stepping up and playing pretty solid, like he didn't hurt you in anyway in the
midway part of the season, but man, at the end of the year, he couldn't come up big when the team needed him to. Now you get you know, some guys in this class with some brains, some really good athleticism, and obviously the four three three speed. To me, I think that is a g eight editions, especially when you factor and hey, there's no Justin Simmons anymore on the back end of that secondary, so you
are going to need your corners to become big time playmakers. I think the one I've been lobbying for Ben, I've been asking for it, and hopefully we get to see this year, especially with Jim Leonard coming in as a passing game coordinator. When press coverage looks for Pat, I mean, he did a lot of that his rookie season under Vic, and he did it under a ger Row, but then last year we just saw so much off
ball coverage. I know Pat wants to get back to playing a little bit more man of man to be able to put some collapse on some dudes. But you need another guy opposite the year that you're confident in. Ken Riley Mosster to Maori Mapp has become that. I mean, it's a huge question mark right now. You know, in this year's draft you maybe get a guy opposite them that can do that right away as a rookie. So for
me, I mean, I'm a defensive back guy. There might be a little bias in me there on that side, but I mean I'll be okay with that move as well. Who's the one guy you're banging the table for for them to come away with in this draft? For me, I didn't have to be somebody there at the top. Like for me, it's case State tight end Vincent. I know they had extended conversation with him. I'd
love to see that added to the room. I think he would be a fantastic weapon for this offense and help build this thing up and give them something they were sorely missing. But who's somebody that you look at this draft you say they got to come away with this guy? Ooh, And a lot of the mock draft simulartors I've been doing, I feel like Mason Smith and I think there's a little bit of a different consensus on maybe where he's going
to end up. Some people say it could be you know, late round one, maybe a mid round two, like, I don't know where he's at, a lot of similarities. I've been able to get him in round three. But Mason Smith, I think obviously the ties to Jamar Kine from his time at LSU. He's a guy that can play multiple positions, not
just the end. He can play inside the A gap. And obviously there's a rotation there with Malcolm Roach, like obviously the guy that brought him this week, Andreela Blackson, like they want to see if they can get somebody because Roach isn't going to be an every down player, but you need to get guys that can rotate in and also still play at a high level inside the A and the B gaps to prevent you from getting gash and maybe even
a lot more one on one opportunities for your edge rushers. Mason Smith out of LSUE, I think is a guy that I would like ever try to come away with at some point. Love it love talking to you is always.
