Five o five as dot KRC the talk station. Happy mondays, the song's becoming more and more prophetic every day. What happens showing it up quite nicely, Joe Streker, Executive Reducer. I appreciate that. In soundbites, Brian Thomas here, happy to be here, honestly in spite of the fact that the world seems becoming unhinged. Of course, we've got a lot to talk about today. Your reactions to the intempted assassination at Donald Trump are quite welcome

It's Monday, so we're gonna hear from Christopher Smith and in our Happy Birthday. His birthday is tomorrow at least to have an onl calendar as tomorrow, so presumably he is going to react to or at least have something to say the efforts to

kill Donald Trump. A lot of mystery swirling around that one, A lot of mystery and a whole lot of conspiracy theories coming out of the woodwork from the moment that shot rang out just unbelievable. At least the calls for calm are coming up from both parties and almost uniform message of calm and you know, back it off. Get the political rhetoric has gotten out of hand and obviously at least it appears obvious, although there's really no indication as to who

this would be murderer is. So twenty year old kid stole his dad rifle, ended up on top of a building with Secret Service all over the place, police everywhere, and a real wild development in terms of what we found out about that. Apparently a cop climbed on top of the building. The kid pointed the ar at the the cop, and the cop went down off the ladder back down to the ground. That's when the kids started squeezing off the rounds. What what. I'll give you the details on that momentarily.

But Christopher Smith been at seven thirty this Monday, so we're going to do money Monday. The world goes on. We talked about futures being steadied, billionaires and now endorsing Trump, including Elon Musk coming out swinging worries about outliving retirement savings. That's legitimate concerns on an article about that retires with one million dollars in savings, could run out of money, and depending upon which state you live in, will determine how quickly you're going to run out of the

money. I talk about that in a little bit as well. And Amazon Prime days, are they deals or something else? That's sound advice from Brian James. Money Monday again eighth five for that. weekend. She's already raised a couple of hundred thousand dollars just with you buying lemonade, and all the proceeds go to benefit like since our Children's Hospital for the children go there to get them some needed things, the Ronald McDonald House for families that are staying here locally when they don't have any place

to stay while their children get medical care of Children's among other charities. It's just an amazing, amazing opportunity. And I predicted since they made one hundred thousand dollars on a lemonade stand last year, let's see if we can get it to two hundred thousand this year, all for something really, really good and positive in a world that keeps it seems to be spiraling out of control. Speaking of spiraling out of control, explain this one, will you?

And this has been widely reported variety of places. New York Post is where I got most of the information. There was a local police officer that spotted this Thomas Crooks would be assassined just prior to him squeezing off the rounds. I tried to go former President Donald Trump and did successfully kill an innocent bystander in the audience, as well as wounding two others who are now listed in stable condition. By the way, update on the folks, they were in

critical condition. The two others that got shot, they are now listed in stable condition. This police officer didn't stop Thomas Crooks despite him being a clear threat. He turned the rifle toward the police officer checking out what in the hell the kid was doing up on top of the building. Apparently rally goers spotted Crooks on the roof this manufacturing plant that was just one hundred and thirty

yards from the stage where Trump was speaking. And as someone who has shot so called assault rivals, the modern sport rivals, I have shot those. I can't I've lost track of how many times I've shot those. And I shoot at my pistol range and rifle range at two hundred yards all the time. That is not a challenging shot, my friends, even for someone with modest skills on a modern rifle, modern sporting rifle sometimes by the left referred

to as the assault rifle. That's an easy shot. Which really is why everyone's screaming, where in the hell is a secret Service? And how in the hell is it that that roof in that general area was not being watched? And then we find out there was a cop up there before before the rounds got squeezed off, police were notified that one officer had climbed the ladder to investigate. This is after rally govers were pointing at the guy on the

roof. They were waving a Secret Service pointing on top of the roof. Look, there's somebody up there with a kind of rifle. The officer whose department had been enlisted by the Secret Service, who does work with regularly. It's been widely accounted in the papers this morning, in the reports over the weekend. Did they work with local law enforcement? Which makes perfect sense. Secret Service comes in, they coordinate efforts local law enforcement. You guys are

responsible for this. That's the way it's supposed to work. So local law enforcement was there and they weren't engaged by the Secret Service. But when local law enforcement encounters a rifleman on top of a roof one hundred and thirty yards away from the stage where where Donald Trump is speaking and doesn't do anything,

I think we have an epic fail on our hands here, folks. Also reportedly after he encountered crooks, Crooks poured the ar rifle at him, then backed down the ladder, after which Crooks immediately took aim and squeezed off eight shots to the former president. Question swirling around how this could possibly happen. Former House Oversight Chairman chair Jason Chavick quote, this was a catastrophic failure.

It should have never been remotely possible. He led the twenty fifteen investigation in the shooting of Secret Service in twenty fifteen, said we did all these investigations and did an extensive report so this would never happen again. It's as if they paid no attention to the bipartisan recommendation. His report focus on the way the Secret Service had been spread too thin. Secret Service did confirm that they relied heavily on local police to help support the security efforts at the rally.

Six officers from the Butler counting tactical units supporting the counter assault team that covered Trump's EVA evacuation, which included two officers from the Secret Service. So the Secret Service had two officers with the local law enforcement folks, also two Secret Service sniper teams on site, and an additional two staffed with local law enforcement officers. All well and good, they did squeeze off the rounds that ended this miserable so and so's life. But where were they ahead of time?

Pennsylvania State to Lace Lieutenant Colonel George Bivins, speaking with reporters, Hey, Secret Service always has the lead on securing something like this. We work with them to divide whatever is requested by the Secret Service, But they're the lead in that secure Does that mean local law enforcement is not capable of evaluating independently the fact that there is a rooftop right there and that someone could easily squeeze

off around and kill someone from that vantage point. Current House Oversight Committee Chairman hains Comer he announced planned to call the Secret Service Director Kimberle Cheadle for a hearing on the twenty second. Others have claimed Trump's team reportedly requested but was denied, additional Secret Service support long before the shooting. Now, the Secret

Service denies that. Representative Anthony Googliami, writing on action response to the allegation that they were denied additional protection, there is an untrue assertion that a member of former president's team requested additional security resources and that those were rebuffed. This is absolutely false. Does that give you a sense of security at all? No, He went on to say, we actually provided more protection that was

originally planned. Really nice job there, buddy. Imagine how badly this could have gone if, in fact they hadn't provided or beefed up. If their allegations are true, they might not even have got the kid. In fact, he said, we added protective resources and technology and capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo. You think they have a drone flying around out

there, something along those lines. Former Secret Service agent speaking with the Washington Post quote, how the f word did he get a gun that close? It's a good question. Secret Service, blaming local police, say it was their job to secure that particular area. Residents in the area who lived close to that factory where the kid was said, no one from the Secret Service talk to any of us. They didn't come nor knocking on the doors.

They didn't post anybody in the area. One woman reportedly said, you know, I kind of expected them to set up a base operation in my yard. We're so close to the to the stage. know who that person was on that roof. And that person wasn't the real shooter. Not with an iron sight at four hundred feet. That's the report that I'm looking at. What do you mean wait wait, wait, wait wait wait that last point? What was your point on that one? An iron sight at four hundred feet, Yeah, you might be able to get something close, but that's an easy shot. That's an easy shot day.

I do it all the time. It's easy. I can hit a steel at two hundred yards, even like a five inch round at two hundred yards easily every time back and forth, boomoom, boom boom. What size you're grouping? Well at that at that distance, if you hit it, the the explosive force of a round going at three thousand feet per second is enough to do massive damage. It's one of the reasons Donald Trump is Thank God you're alive. What's probably a four inch probably about a four inch group,

maybe three if I'm lucky. Look at the two stripes on Donald's face, they're a whole lot closer than four inches. Well, those are blood streams. One is his ear and the other rest is blood pouring down from the hole in his ear. Pretty straight line lateral bleeds. That's interesting. But anyway, my point is I've read a report from a fella who said that he was the counter sniper who took this kid out, and his boss told him to hold his fire while he's watching this guy peel off rounds. Well,

first of all, if that's their protocol, I'm ignoring protocol. If I'm that sniper, I'm gonna Swiss Cheese's kid, and then I'm gonna look at my boss and find out what his problem is I might Swiss cheese him too. Yeah, Joe's rightfully asked me, what's the source onto that one that he was holding hold that they were told to hold off. I have not read that. I've read everything from the left wing Politico and the Hill to the Wall Street Journal and Fox News. No one has reported that.

I haven't seen it anywhere. Yeah, I'm not surprised. Yeah, this is a this is an outside the normal scope of regular supposed news. Then then have some measures skepticism on the sources. I've seen a lot of qual from a lot of people. I've got skepticism on the whole thing. This is an inside operation. Well clearly put the help of the Secret Service, and they're all traders. Okay, I listen, I understand your comments, and there are a lot of them from both sides of the political spectrum.

I'm gonna keep my powder dry, no pun intended, and wait till more information comes up before I start drawing conclusions as as clearly as you have drawn yours. Uh. And you know you'd like to think and I'm not you

know, I'm not in your camp on that one. But if this was supposed to be a coordinated effort to actually assassinate Donald Trump, that this was somehow you had more than one shooter a' llah the theories of you know, Robert F. John Kennedy's assassination, they at least pulled that one off. Are you gonna tell me that you know a kid at two hundred yards can't hit Donald Trump and that there was a follow up shooter that wasn't able to

pull off around either. I find that very extraordinarily hard to believe, going back to my points that I don't even consider myself like I'm marksmen or anything like that, but I can hit a target at that route, at that distance. You're saying two people failed. Now listen, if the Secret Service really truly wanted to coordinate that and this is the result you got, we got a lot more to worry about, don't we talk about colossal ineptitude five

It bleeds like crazy skulls, and everything in your head bleed like you're right, everything everything from your shoulders up is just pumped full of blood. But you know, I I just I'm gonna pray for that guy because I think he's kind of lost in the world of in the world of doubt and anger. I mean, this was terrible, and I don't care if it would have if it had been President Biden, President Clinton, President Obama, anyone someone had taken a

shot at us president, whether they're seated or not. It's terrible. And you know that you know, there there was, there was, there was a father who died there a fire a retired firefighter who was a father who died there. I mean, let's let's think about that. So let's not blow us up to some conspiracy and let's not diminish that life lost by by this foolery. You know, well, Scott, you know, thank God that that that sniper and not really took him out before he did more damage

you saw. I can say amen to that, Eric and well stated points this morning as we try to keep cooler heads and not go over the cliff on our determinations because we are still fresh off the event and still have a whole lot to learn about even who this kid was. Silence is deafening over it. He doesn't really even have much of it. I mean, there was very little social media presence. They didn't find anything by way of conspiracy

Yeah, I told Joe Us I wanted to chime in with my two cents, but I got to think about it. With inflation, it's probably only one sin. All right now, I'm gonna come from a spiritual standpoint. This is my spirituality, and I got two schools of thoughts here. One of them, you know, God blessed Trump to take him away from the evil Left. They tried to take him out as one school of thought. The other school of thought that was a warning to Trump he better stop doing

what he's doing and change his ways. And those are my two conflicts and thoughts in my head, Like you say, with that in information yet you know it's just all all were pulling stuff out. Well, let's focus on the latter your two points, change his ways in what way should he be changing his ways? His loyalty to and and and love for his wife in the face of the fact that he has had affairs his private life, his

public life, his political life, his position on any given issue. I mean, there's a multitude, perhaps millions of ways one could interpret that statement. What are you thinking along the lines of James uh ramping up the rhetorics and negative radic up, I've got as as you are. I got volumes, I got volumes of negative rhetoric, almost all of it from the left, from the you know them depicting you. Well, no, you're right, absolutely, it's been ratcheted up to the point where we are not hospitable

to each other in any form ever at all. But I don't recall asking anybody saying like, well, let's see slug Joe Biden's face, decapitate Joe Biden, stab him. These are all things that famous people have asked to do to Trump shooting him. Snoop dogg Ass that Anthony Bourdain suggested poisoning Trump, George Lopez suggest a bounty killing Pearl Jams suggested Carrion's eating his corpse. Suffocation came from Larry. I've never heard anything along these lines toward Joe Biden.

Now, am I saying that the Republicans should tone down their rhetoric as well? Absolutely? I believe in civility and discourse. Name calling is a sign of a win. Column. If you are engaged in a debate with someone and they go down to the level of calling you names or asking for your assassination or other harm to come to you, then you've won the debate. I like to stick on the debate level and then shake hans and walk away to our neutral corners. It's the right way to engage in politics.

I mean, you get the usual, okay, the police interview that where you're going to cooperate with all the other authorities. Of course, you know they have no facts, and so most of the news is kind

of opinion. But you know, it is a tragedy. I just want to shout out to the Secret Service, who put their lives in the can immediately shield them, shield the people with their with their own lives. And mister has always said, look for the good things, look for the helpers,

he said, But there's always some good in there. There is, I am, except for the last caller who says the Secret Service was in on this and responsible for it. And if you believe we've gone that far down the road, then I guess we're in an irredeemable place in our country, perhaps closing the door on yet one more person who the left has convinced that our society in our country is in fact irredeemable and needs to be you know, something needs to arise like phoenix from the ashes on what was the

former great United States of America, since we have lost all faith in all of our collective institutions. Yeah, there is a theme behind all of that bashing of our country, and it does work and in yours to the left and the socialist benefit, that's part of the playbook, attack all the institutions that hold our country together. I'm not going to play that game. I will call out and criticize. Criticism and calling out is due, but it's

been solidified in facts. I'm not going to speculate. I mean, there's room for speculation always, but to conclude definitively as that last car, as that caller did, that the Secret Service and other gunmen were involved in this so shortly after the event. I mean, how the Warren Commission and laugh at that one all day long? How long did it take them to come out with that conclusion. Yeah, a little bit of effort went into that

one. Whether you believe it or not, Fine, there's your faith in institutions or not still talking about that decades later, Charlie, welcome to the program. Since there's a lot of violent extremists out there, I think Trump should be speaking behind bulletproof glass on all three sides and even on the top because there could be a drone a mile up in the sky.

And coint I don't think we've learned anything from from the jfk assassination. The big lesson is we shouldn't take any chances because there's so many people out there in the crown and you don't know who has a gun or what true, but you know that that flies in the face, See that flies in that that's a capitulation that violence reigns. The vast, vast, vast majority of the population of the world are not violent people. It's a small sliver

of it. And while that's small sliver in a world full of billions of people, is still a substantial number. Are we going to walk around in an isolated popemobile our whole lives are elected officials going to do that while we are well left to our own devices, while they are busily, you know, getting rid of the police department and condemning the police as the worst possible institution around because they're inherently racist. Now we're left to our own devices generally

speak. And a politician, an elected official, should not cower behind bullet hoof glass twenty four to seven. That is, the person who definitively needs to walk among the crowd and shake hands and go on with their life and recognize that, yeah, bad things do happen, and it may happen to you because you are the one who's the politician. You ran for office, and you make decisions on behalf of people that well, quite frankly, usually

piss off half the population. But to capitulate and to hide twenty four to seven merely because there's a possibility. I wouldn't want to live my life that way. I'd rather take the risk, and I think any good politician would do the same thing in the name of giving us a greater sense of comfort five forty five fifty five K see talk station. people in the crowd had alerted the law enforcement somebody was up there. They were trying to alert the Secret Service. The cop climbs the ladder and the kid turns around and points a rifle at him, and that's when he shimmied back down the ladder. I guess fearing for his own life. I don't know, but that is not the way a Secret Service agent would have reacted. Had someone gone up, I doubt they would have pointed their sniper rifle

at a law and fellow law enforcement officer. He would have said, I'm Secret Service, or would have been properly uniformed as a Secret Service agent, or more fundamentally, since Secret Service coordinates their efforts with local law enforcement, there would have been no doubt in either side's mind that that was either a properly stationed sniper or some kid getting ready to shoot at the former president of

the United States of America. So you see, these things sort of evaporate once you put them under the lens of some common sense, logic and reason. But wait for it. these lines, that is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. First off, are you willing to put your life on the line and get shot in the ear knowing that one quarter of an inch to the right would end your life. I don't think the presidency's worth that. Honestly, I wouldn't put myself in that position. You want to go a circus sideshow act and have somebody throw knives at you while you're, you know, pinned to a wooden wall, knock yourself out. That's not me. We don't know much about

this kid. He didn't really have a social media presence by all accounts of thus far, didn't seem to be very political. They have him registered as a Republican but having made a fifteen dollars contribution to a far left wing group. Okay, what does that prove? I don't know. Waiting to find out if there's any connection with him, they're going to they're searching through his records and in effects and all that right now as we speak. I'm pretty

certain. But the flip side of this ridiculous argument that Trump's stage this to somehow help his campaign is that, I mean, if you're sitting down around a table talking about ways you could move yourself ahead in the polls or otherwise secure your victory, and some idiot presented that as a possibility, what would your reaction be, Well, yeah, you're fired. So from what I could see in the aerial view, I'm kind of wondering if they why they didn't spot this guy beforehand, especially since there was a law enforcement officer that had already come acrossing And the reason that the law enforcement officer came across him was because somebody else pointed it out to him. Yeah, so this all smells a mite fishy to me. Well, they see that is

I mean, you're right, it smells awfully fishy. Was it gross incompetence on the part of the Secret Service? We certainly could reach that conclusion. One of my callers earlier this morning, on the conspiracy theory level, believes the Secret Service coordinated this and that there was more than one shooter. Where that information or conclusion come from, I'll let him decide for himself, not going down that road personally. And besides, if that was the case,

how terribly was it was botched like nobody's business. I mean, you've actually had two people with that were trained in shooting aiming at Donald Trump, and you wanted to pull this off, and you're a coordinated Secret Service effort to do it. I think you're gonna hit your mark, Lord Almighty. But in any event, you got a great point on why something. I mean, everybody's asking the question, why wasn't somebody either on top of that already

as a shooting position. Why was it outside of the security perimeter that was the Secret Service was responsible for? Legitimate question. Local law enforcement was responsible for the areas outside of it. There was a local law enforcement agency apparently according to the local law enforcement officers there, that did, in fact climbing ladder after people in the crowd saw the kid go up on top of the building with a rifle. They were pointing them out. There's people that were

been interviewed. I mean, it's all over media right now. Yeah, we were pointing out right there. You know, you can see the footage from the real time footage from what it was happening. This law enforcement officer climbs up the ladder and the kid turns around and aims the ar at him, and then he shimmis back down the ladder what and immediately begins to open fire on Donald Trump. This is a failure, epic, epic failure.

And literally everyone who is paying any attention to this is asking, how does a gunman in plain view of some spectators manage to open fire on a former president of campaign rally protected by both federal and local law enforcement. Naturally, people are going to start swirling the you know, the down the drain of conspiracy theories. Of course they are, are we this bad the United States of America? And say what you want about the United States of America.

I still insist it's the greatest country on the war on the world. One could argue the most competent, but then something like this happens. I've seing articles some are blaming diversity, equity and inclusion within the Secret Service for the failures of the Secret Service during this one another road I'm not going to go down, but clearly there is a significant measure of incompetence. Now many people are saying, hmm, I wonder if it was intentional this incompetence. You

can ask that question. You're not going to get an answer. At least yet, you still haven't gotten an answer to how January sixth happened. The pipe bombs out January sixth, and a whole bunch of other investigations that they well, the people who are responsible for investigating this are I think still investigating. Hell, people haven't even put a final stake in the Warrant Commission report

about the assassination at John F. Kennedy. Here we are, decades later, with hundreds of books written on that topic, and many people believe there's been no definitive conclusion to how exactly it was John F. Kennedy was assassinated. So we'll be talking about this one, presumably for years. I just thank god the man is saved. Donald Trump did not die. And just some are calling it a miracle of God, and you can call it that if you like. You can call it to make the biggest stroke of luck

ever. He was in less less than one inch of death, less than and if you watch when the shooting happened, it appears as though Donald Trump just turned his head immediately before the shot rang out. rhetoric at all. As a matter of fact, that seems to me is actually toning it up a little bit, Yeah, and doubling down on the rhetoric. Well, because it's so blank and stupid. I mean, I pointed out earlier. I mean, if you're President Trump, you're gonna put your life in jeopardy for stunt that may or may not in your to your benefit. And then the Democrats joined the benefit of this, because we're not

talking about Joe Biden's declining cognitive state right now, are we. So he gets a pass for some period of time just because of the horrific antivy events. Yeah, Brian, you're a shooter. Yeak, you put an apple on your head, you go stand one hundred and was about one hundred and thirty yards from from a kid twenty years old that obviously has some eyesight correction issues. Using that, you're gonna stand there and you're gonna, I mean,

you're gonna you know, you're gonna put your bet on that. No, that's the first point I made the presidency. You're gonna, right, if you're going to stage this, it's gonna be with somebody a little bit more at least at least apparently from appearances competent then this kid, and you know, you bring up so many great points about law enforcement. And I'm

a huge supporter of law enforcement, you and I both are. But somewhere, somehow, I don't know the rules of engagement that were established for the snipers. All this will come out and investigation, but indeed, you know, to be confronted and to be seen. How you know they shot him just seconds after he pulled the trigger? Why did they not shoot beforehand? I mean, I just there's so many things. Why did the policeman come down the ladder and not just take his revolver and shoot in the air to

alert the entire facility that there was a shooter? There any so many things that need to be discussed. Everything needs to be discussed. And that's why I keep saying, keep your powder dry weight till the facts come out, and then we can draw legitimate conclusions about whether or not the ball was dropped, whether or not there was some sort of conspiracy going on, whether or not maybe law enforcement did fail Donald Trump in this particular case. I'm waiting

to find out. But you're all of these things, all of this, this this reality is staring us in the face and it just raises a multitude of questions and most notably about the competence of law enforcement at this event. I mean, he announced this thing ten days in advance, that target, that that elevated shooting point. I don't know how there wasn't a sniper from the Secret Service, a local law enforcement on that point. It's easy to

hit a target from that world. I don't know how in today's world there wasn't drones surveiling every inch of the place, you know, while it was going on something else. Yep, many people brought that up as well, because the Secret Service does in fact deploy and use drones when they are surveilling and keeping well the president safe from harm. So yep, keep asking the questions and hopefully at some point we're gonna get answers, and I hope that

As crazy as some of them are, I must acknowledge.

I'm keeping my powder drying up intended. Just received another one from my friend Maureen, and she just is in touch with all the crazy things that are going out there. This is not something she necessarily subscribes to, but there is a photograph that's swirling around there. This twenty year old kid was somehow

employed by Black Rock for a commercial. I don't know, but it looks like a photograph that even I, not computer savvy, could easily put together in about ten seconds time on AI and post and claimed that there was some connection. So this kind of stuff is going around all morning, all weekend. And you know, the one thing that they before I get to Bobby, question did the inflammatory rhetoric inspire the shooter to do what he did?

And yes, there is a ton of inflammatory rhetoric. I've read a whole bunch of it this morning, thanks to folks like John Turley and Victor David Hanson going back to the records and pulling up all of the horrific things that so many people on the left set about what they wanted to have happened to Donald Trump, from blowing him up to throttle him, to shooting him to killing him by multiple different means. There's a million different quotes out there.

Kathy Griffin, you know, having him his decapitated head in her hand. It's been going on since he walked down the steps in twenty fifteen. Did that have anything to do with it? You can't answer that question, No one can. We hardly know anything about this punk would be murderer other than he's probably out of his mind. Registered as a Republican but gave fifteen dollars financial contribution to a left wing group that was dedicated and committed to getting more

Democrats elected. Well, that's inconsistent. You can't draw any conclusions from that, now, can You can't conclude anything? So, you know, I'd like to think cooler heads prevailed on the fifty five KC Morning Show. I'm trying to do a thoughtful analysis of, you know, what could and what might have happened in the face of what we actually know happened and what we do know happened. I think we can all generally agree across the board that

this was a security failure on some level. Blame will be cast, and there should be an intense investigation, one of which has already been announced July twenty second, they're going to haul in the head of the Secret Service that we'll depose her and ask her and shake her down for information about how this

could possibly have happened. But you know, the one thing that I keep observing and everyone who knows anything about shooting a modern sport rifle that at one hundred and thirty yards to one hundred and fifty yards over far away he was. That is an easy shot. And thankfully he was probably not a very experienced shooter, because at that distance, if you are an experienced shooter,

it is not something that is difficult. And you can go ahead and say, oh, that's one of the reasons why no one should be able to own these types of weapons. Okay, whatever, But practically speaking, one must acknowledge. Anybody who's ever fired him on an sporting rifle knows. And I shoot him at tw hundred yards all the time on my gun range.

It's not a difficult shot. So why warrant agents there? Why didn't they investigate that particular building, the elevated shooting vantage point that that place provided for this punk? Why didn't people respond? I mean there were you got video and then interviews with people who were standing there, going, yeah, we saw him up there. We told law enforcement about it. We alerted them. There's actually video with the kid creeping around up there. Now we've got

to report. This morning, a local police officer actually went up a ladder and confronted this punk. The kid turned around and pointed the rifle at him, so the cop went down back down the ladder. Why didn't he do

something? Drew Pappus brought that. I mean, he could have fired his gun in there, He could have screamed, he could have picked up a radio, I guess and contacted I suppose everybody else with whom any law enforcement officer should have been able to communicate with secret Service or fellow law enforcement officers to report the fact there's a kid with a rifle on top of an elevated shooting pointment direct line in sight to the former president. Good question, Bobby,

And Trump even addressed that. He said, I turned to look at the teleprompter or something, And he said, I normally don't do that. I normally try to stare and engage directly

at the crowd, he said. But for whatever reason, and I think Donald Trump gave God credit for it, he did turn his head at that moment, and otherwise God knows what would have happened, Bobby. We can only speculate, but he may have with that one moment in time, saved his life. Divine intervention, my friend. And when we talk about the rhetoric, it won't stop. These people's ideology will not change. It may slow down a little bit for the next five days, but I'm telling you

it'll be perpetual motion with these people. They will not stop the rhetoric. No, I agree with you, And the rhetic has filtered over to the right wing side of the equation. I brought this up earlier in the Morning Show when somebody suggested this was actually a secret serve as coordinated effort to assassinate Trump, which I found laughable because of how epically it failed. He even

suggested there was a second gunman there. And I don't know where people pull this kind of thing from their sphincters, most likely, but whatever, those kinds of things are swirling around the internet. So I mean, but the point being that he at least has concluded that we are so corrupt as a society, as a government that our own government would would endeavor to assassinate a presidential candidate. That feeds into the left's desire, which is to undermine our

belief and our faith in all of the institutions of government. Now you're talking to me someone who is jaded in cynicals today is long about the effectiveness of government. But I really do firmly believe that the vast majority of people do want our country to succeed. They don't want to lose their job as a consequence of well destruction of America as an entity. Waiting for phoenix to arise from the ashes of us finally concluding that we have no faith whatsoever in our

government and it's time for it to go. I'm not going to assist in that effort. I want competency and i want efficiency from government. But if you know, I'm not about to believe that they're going to go around and assassinating citizens of the United States of America. Call me naive if you want. But and I'm also I'm also a little bit cynical to believe that God had anything to do with it. Bobby, I hear you, and I know you're a man of faith, But you know, God didn't prevent the

murder of twelve hundred Israelis. God did not prevent nine to eleven from happening. God did not prevent wars, pestilence, and famine over the millennia. He didn't stop the Jews from being slaughtered by the Nazis. We could go on and on, and on and on. It would use up ten months worth a fifty five Kose Morning show going through the annals of history and looking at all the tragedies that have the fallen mankind that God did not step in

and stop. So maybe you are firm believer that God did have a President Trump's back. Fine, I have no problem with your belief in it higher power. But I do too. I believe in a higher power. Say, I don't quite share your faith in our government, you know, the story being that my country right or wrong, but my government when it deserves it, my faith anyway. But about Trump and his situation, if he continues to depend upon the Secret Service and government agencies for his safety, he's not going to make it.

At mar Largo, the infiltration by some intruders was not caught by the Secret Service when he was there, but it was actually caught by his own privately managed security services. That's where the talent's going to be to have the experience and the I suppose you call it versatility of thinking, to be able to

counter the types of threats that he's going to continue to experience. So I would encourage the campaign and Trump himself and his wife to get on his case to take advantage more of his experience in the commercial motel, hotel and a venue business and not depend upon the bureaucrat style of management of his own security and safety. Yeah. Well, I mean this is not the first illustration

of secret service and competence, is it. I mean, we can go back and have a whole bunch of failures on the part of the Secret Service and each one of them. It's It kind of reminds me of Jay Ratler's conversation about Boeing. You know, the FA goes in and accuses Boeing of having all this crap going on. They're negligent there their supply. It's just all he's about profit. You're not paying attention to quality. You better start building the planes, right, And then it happens again. They go in

again, and it happens again. Nothing ever gets done in the name of profit over Boeing. They just keep sacrificing safety for the name of profit. Well, you got how many illustrations of Secret Service failure going on, and they supposedly go in, they look a hearing on it, and they do an analysis and they figure out ways to improve it. And then you know, here we are left with this nothing but what looks like absolute epic failure. So yeah, maybe Trump should hire his own security team. Maybe,

just maybe the Secret Service should get its damn hack together. I cannot wait to get the answers with all the questions that are swirling around. I mean, they're trying to do a mea culpa saying hey, listen, that area was local law enforcement, but you're supposed to coordinate with local law enforcement. And who leaves an elevated target like that within shooting easy shooting distance. I

might underscore of the podium where the former president is speaking unattended. And how is it that so many people saw that kid crawling around on the roof up there and we're screaming at law enforcement trying to point him out and nothing was done. Well, you know, call it a conspiracy. They didn't want to protect Trump. They let it happen because they were hoping he'd die, or they were just failures at their job that day. Either one is equally

conceivable. And I'm not going down the road that they wanted him dead, at least not yet. I'll wait until we get the answers to some of these questions, because it does look like and you can't move away from it. At least. The facts as we have them today reflect a failure on the part of the team that was supposed to protect Donald Trump that day, a failure, and we have one person dead and two people injured as a consequence of well, three people injured if you include the ear of Donald Trump

injured as a consequence of it. So I don't know. I have my popcorn out, and I will hold my opinions at least in so far as reaching ultimate conclusions until more information is confirmed. But we all know that we all know where government has let us down in terms of the information confirmation part, though, don't we Dennis? Can't you recognize a failure in pretty much

every measure of what government service is supposed to be doing. Yeah? I talk about that all the time too, And that's not designed to say that our United States is a failure, but many in government service, many government services are epic failures. murder, stabbing, slugging him in the face. I mean, what goes on and on and on and on that they said these things out loud in social media, two cameras, two reporters, and then here it finally, something like that happens. Their desires apparently fulfilled at least almost, and now they're all walking around saying, oh my god, how glad they are that Donald Trump is okay and they feel for him and they're you know, prayers

for his quick recovery, et cetera, et cetera. It's the hypocrisy is pretty pretty amazing, it is, And the disappointment in the news media outlets as things were developing, he failed down, he was taken out. I mean, now understand being cautious, but this was at a level of complete uh uh stupidity. I mean, you have the former president standing up, pumping his fist blood over his face. You know, a rational person would say, you hear pops prior to that, right that that there is somebody

with a gun that has injured him. But the but if you look at the the national media uh TV news stations, they were really really, really cautious, and it took them forever to use the words attempted assassination on former President Donald Trump. Yeah, it was. It was just amazing to me. Well, a guy died right then and there when it was going on. That was known to the media media am as immediately Trump obviously had been

injured, is bleeding from his ears. He hear the pop up, Papa pa pop. You got two wounded people of one dead person standing around Donald Trump right there. That was known. So clearly we have an assassination attempt. I don't know why they felt it necessary to sort of keep their powder drys. I've been endeavoring to do in terms of trying to figure out, you know what happened and what didn't happen here this morning amid the swirling conspiracy

theories, and of course they're gonna be swirling conspiracy theories. Considering that this even happened in the first place, knowing that there's Secret Service protection and local law enforcement there and that clear line aside from the building, you're like, wait, what, but we don't know yet. You don't really have any

information about who this murder would be what or a punk is either. And to have congressional members, just in the most recent which citizens might not know, try to introduce legislation to take Secret Service protection away from former President Donald Trump was also insane. And to not have that same protection for candidate Kennedy out there is insane. We live in a world unfortunately that's very different, and we have got to understand that protecting our leaders is critical no matter your

political position. How do you wake up this morning and think that this is a part of you know, discourse that a candidate is running and by the way, you know, this is just piling on to the words for the last call it seven and a half years that people have been saying in a public dehumanizing comparing this man to Hitler saying that he is a threat to democracy, that he's a dictator, meaning all of that language, and then all

of the things that you said at the beginning of your show, meaning basically wishing death upon him. But this kind of language has been building for the last seven and a half years, and the reality of it is for President Biden to come out soft on it, meaning he spoke earlier, he spoke now from the White House, he's stills soft on it, meaning this must be condemned by every political figure in the United States of America, no matter

where you stand. And by the way, some of the rhetoric that I've been reading about a congressional congressional members here in Ohio, meaning there are things that they are saying that just didn't make sense. Greg Landsman, for example, you know, I'll talk a little bit about that, things that he was saying about former President Trump made no sense. He's piling on and adding

to this kind of behavior, and I'm just completely disappointed, disappointed. We'll bring it back and talking a little more detail about Greg Landsman's comments because I'm wildly curious to hear what he said, because those are ones I did not run across yet this morning flurry of information I'm trying to deal with this morning more with Christopher Smithman and the Smither vent up some forty two Brian Thomas with

Christopher Smithman doing the smith e Van Christopher. He had a comment with Greg Landsman. You want to elaborate on what he said because I didn't catch that. Yeah, here are some some quotes that he put out on X Authoritarism is on the rise and Trump attends to be a dictator. The state of our democracy rests on the outcome of this election. A different post. The only thing more dangerous than Trump winning is Trump controlling all three branches of government.

Another quote. When he says he wants to undermine our democracy, he means it. Another quote. Trump is unfit to be president. The chaos of Trump continues. Of what he's doing to this country, the extremism and danger he and his allies present, has to end. Think about all of this language, These are just This is just what he's putting out on on social media posts from a congressional member, right, And none of it is true. None of it is true. It's all lies. There's nothing here

that he's that is actually true. This man is not a dictator. He's not going to take over all three branches of government, So what the hell

is he talking about? And by the, by the, by the, by the, let me remind the public that here's a member that I served with who was a member of the Gang of Five, which absolutely in local government was undermining our government because they were going they were literally trying to have conversations about development deals, about about anything that they didn't want you, meaning Brian Thomas in the media to see. So here's this is hypocrisy at his

best, even though they don't talk about it. This was a member of the Gang of Five who absolutely was trying to undermine our our local government at the time. And anybody can google that his name and Gang of five and all of that stuff will come out. And I believe Judd Ruman said all of them should resign, meaning from the bench. He said everybody and all of you should resign holding the public office. Again, I believe it was

close to his words. And here's a guy putting out tweets as a congressional member calling the former president a dictator and that he's going to take over all three branches of government. Now that's just not true. It's just why, so, why the hell would you say something like that. It's just completely irresponsible. It's self un laughable. Who believes that? And then under what circumstances could that be accomplished? I mean, do we not have Congress how?

I mean? The executive branch only has specific powers. They're delineated and they can't exceed that. You know, who knows that, Joe Biden who tried to forgive it billions of dollars with the student loans and the court said, whoa dude, power of the purse. That's congress Man, you can't do that. Who's trying to be the dictator? Who's trying to take over the government? And Brian, all I'm saying is, this is the language

that citizens are saying, right, played into what happened this weekend. And we're not only saying stop it, we're saying what you said played into the outcome of it. Well man, okay, let me let me just interject just a little bit though, because we yet don't know that this kid acted with a political bent a bias. If you he was influenced by any person he was on the right side or the left side of the political Ledger.

We got about nothing on the guy except that he was a member of the Republican Party, apparently accorded all the press accounts, and that he contributed fifteen dollars to the Democrat left wing campaign. Now, I don't know how you reconcile those two positions beyond that apparently didn't have much of his social media presidence at all. He was on some gamer website and they said he was barely visible there, didn't have any political posts. So I'm gonna wait and see

what they find. I'm gonna wait till they search through his records. I want to see what's on his computer. I want to see that who he's involved with, and who he's talking to. Then we can reach a conclusion as to whether he had a bias, a bent, influenced or not by any outside rhetoric. But this does not negate what you're saying, Christopher, that the outside rhetoric has been absolutely unparalleled, horrific, most notably from the

left. They don't hold and monopoly on this rhetoric, but it's sure and so far as Donald Trump is concern, is hateful and evil And in terms of what you quoted from Landsman bat crap insane. It's so toxic. And here's the sad part about it, right, the rest of the world is watching all of this, meaning it makes us look so weak right around the world. You mean the Manhattan case, right, is like then on the back of the biggest bull you can find. Meaning of this attempted assassination shows

us operating like a third world country. We disagree with who we are, who we are are supporting. So what we're going to do instead of fighting it out or discussing it at a ballot box, We're going to start picking up bullets. That's what third world countries do. And at the end of the day, there RNC convention, which I believe is starting today, will

end on Thursday. The reality of this is that this is going to make that convention, right, the most watched convention in the history of you and the States of America, right, because you're going to have a former president of the United States walk off, walk on that stage, who now we all know there was an attempted assassination of his life in less than seven days, and so when he walks out there, everybody will be watching and listening to what he has to say to the rest of the world, not just

the country, but the world. And I will say Biden, President Biden needs to be and continues to be stronger with his language of condemning what happened. Reality of it is, someone lost their life. We've got two other citizens who are fighting for their life, and we almost had a former president lose his life just by a hair. Imagine Brian Thomas, if he had just not moved it a hair. We all saw it, just a hair, and the bullet would have gone right through them. Unbelievable moment in history.

You and I are in the middle of history and watching it. And I'm not going to say what's going to happen on November the fifth, but I can tell you people who were supporting president former President Donald Trump are dug in more today and those who are on the sidelines are now coming over because they're saying enough is enough. You know, if you go out and you're reading what people are saying, you're seeing people say, listen, I'm tired

of this left movement. I'm tired of all these things that people are saying when they can't even embrace humanity and say the attempted assassination of a former president is wrong. There's still people out there on social media who are mocking this Brian Thomas this morning, who are happy about it, who are saying why did somebody miss? This is outrageous and those people should be called out. And my last comment about it is is Congressman Greg Lansman, anybody in his

team that are listening to you and I discussed this, stop it. It's irresponsible. Stop it. You have a campaign to run, focus on that. Stop tweeting and saying these crazy, outrageous things about a former president, which, by the way, are all lies. Everything I read to you is a lie that there is no president that's going to take over all three branches of government. He's calling this man the dictator, and he's empowering the crazy to believe that what he's writing is true. Well, you got to

be crazy to believe a statement like that, chrispher That's my point. It's insulting to his constituents. And he would say that because it's impossible, It couldn't happen. I mean, you would have to have a coupe destas, the military would have to take over the entire government. It would look January

I mean that in order to bring about the kind of screaming alarmism that they're trying to raise right now about And look the other component of this, Greg Landsman is running for what a representative seat he's gotten a he's got an opponent in great and in Orlando Sonza. He's talking about Trump. Really huh. Maybe he's got a problem in his own campaign and his own issues in his own voting record or

the craziness going on in the world that we have to deal with. Good morning, mister Thomas. Yeah, and I didn't, as it was joking with Joe just before we got on here. It didn't have to look too far for headlines to discuss this week. Oh my, oh my, not at all. And she's having any bible to scratch the surface of everything that's in front of me this morning, but that's to be expected, and of

course a lot of people chiming in on this situation. I think it's a little premature to reach any conclusions other than it looks to be like we had a massive secret service failure. But I'm keeping my powder dry and reaching any conclusions about how or why this could have unfolded and happened. I'm just thinking, thank God that Donald Trump is not dead and that he did survive, and really, really it's heartbreaking that an innocent bystander would be gunned down at

an event like that. It's just anyhow reeling over that one, and of course it's going to have political implications. Clearly, some people think it's even stage Donald Trump did this to himself to get help, and I just find that to be the most ridiculous assertion ever. But we do have Elon Musk coming out, for example, and fully endorsing Donald Trump, and presumably that'll come along with some dollars. But he's not the only one in the billionaire

category to endorse Trump. That was your first story this morning, the futures steady and billionaires endorsing Trump. Yeah. So Bill Ackman, this is a name that surfaces every now and then with regard to He's an investment professional. He's a hedge fund manager ultimately, but obviously a pretty big talking head as well. So he came out and formally endorsed Trump as well. He has

been This is not a new None of this is surprising. Frankly, I'm not sure we're seeing any of these big names switching sides over this, but they're getting louder. And so Bill Ackman actually was calling for Joe Biden to step down back way back in January. So this is pre debate this is

pre a whole bunch of things that have happened since. So him coming out and formally endorsing President Trump isn't a major shock other than the the political rhetoric is, as you said, starting to increase, and certainly not surprising at all given obviously the terrifying headlines over the weekend, So a low surprise.

We haven't seen any poll numbers. I'm sure those will be along shortly when you'll have to have to kind of look at the sources to make sure, you know, to make sure everybody can be comfortable with those results as well.

Well. One of the things, and one of the reasons the assertion that Trump actually stages himself that's freaking laughable, is the idea that now attention has been deflected away from Joe Biden's cognitive ability and the massive problems that Democrats are facing as they approach their convention, and in terms of donating, I see the New York Times report of the largest Democratic superpack has frozen ninety million

dollars in already pledge donations as long as Joe Biden remains a nominee. That's a pretty amazing news right there. On the other side, of the political ledger. Yeah, and that's been you know, even before these these headlines from this weekend, when when the rumblings were starting about maybe Joe Biden should step down. Well, who in the world. There isn't a single name

out there that has been at all visible. I remember, you know, back when prior to the two thousand and eight election, when Barack Obama kind of came out of nowhere in terms of he made a few great speeches and then all of a sudden there was buzz about him. Who is that person? Now there's really nobody there. So they're going to have if they're going to replace him, they're going to have to pluck somebody and force them into

the spotlight who clearly didn't want it. Are they either raise their hands a little bit earlier? So well, I'm really really thinking that there's no good solution for the Democrats here. Well, I think they've compounded the problems because the virtue signaling and the appropriate checkboxes. When they selected Kamala Harris to be the vice president. She's a woman, she's black, ergo she gets the

job. I guess they weren't thinking of, you know, phase two, which is what happens when Biden can't do it anymore or something happens to him in office, And who's going to run after Joe Biden either drops out or dies or otherwise can't do it anymore? And it's going to be Kamala Harris the logical successor, having been selected as vice president, and yet her polling numbers are worse than Biden's in spite of his cognitive decline. And where has

she been for the last four years? Yeah, I feel like I can name most of the first ladies. They come on and they have their own platform. There's been a bullying platform, there's been anti drugs, going back to Nancy Reagan. I feel like I can name the platforms that the first Ladies have taken on. Yeah, I can't say kamalas I don't know what she's done for the past four years. So, yeah, that is a really great question. But that's my point. So who is it? Who

is the big name they could rely on prior to Joe Biden. I suspect if there truly was a big name, maybe that's the person who would be looking at at the Democratic nomination right now. Well, And the other component of all this in spite of it. I mean, if you had four people you could name backbenchers that would adequately and do a great job in lieu of Biden. They're going to run into problems if they waigh around to the

convention because there are deadlines in the state. Ohio's one of them. I mean, you got to declare and have your nominee locked in place by the sixth of August, which is in advance of their convention. Otherwise you're not going to make it to the ballot. And we're not the only date that has those rules. That was already a problem long before this weekend. It was so yeah, And I'm not going to claim to be any kind of expert on electoral rules or anything like that. I'm baffled that we didn't that

this was never a problem in the past. That's the part that really confuses me. But that doesn't seem to be easily solvable either. So that was an issue before we had a question of whether there's any nominee at all. Well, and then it comes to what is the platform going to be. Americans are hurting right now. They're not doing real well. Inflation is a real problem, Grocery bills are a problem, and thanks to the listener, just forward to me the link. Nearly half of small businesses say they won't

survive a second Biden term. That was reported the New York Post headline. There, eighty thousand small business surveyed said that they will not survive the current economic climate ongoing inflation for another four years. That's a real problem out there. Yeah, it really is. And these are things. These aren't new, right, We've been going through this for four years, so these are things that people are saying, you know, we can stretch a little bit.

We've been able to cover this and kind of assume the added expenses for now, not without impact. But at the same time, the economy is still is still going strong, and the stock market is actually, you know, at an all time high. So somebody has been able to make profits

regardless of all of this, of all of the inflationary issues. But small businesses, like you said, will have less room to cover these things in the future, as opposed to a larger business who can simply say, well, that was a bad quarter, we didn't make as much as we want. Moving on, we'll crumble that up and throw it away and will be okay. So yeah, we are kind of hitting a breaking point there well. And of course the very small businesses are not traded on the stock exchange.

They're on their own. They don't have money in the form of shareholders, you know, investing in those companies with the hope they're going to be profitable. And you know, I speaking of that, I guess I'm kind of curious as I did not look yet this morning, although I just pulled up the Wall Street Journal, which has futures. Looks like, with the exception of the stocks six hundred index, all of the indexes, including like Shanghai and others are post hosting, are are up this morning, or at

least anticipated if the futures are up. Yeah, and it's it's almost a sign of the times, Brian, Right, So terrible, terrifying news gets winked at anymore because does it really have an impact on profit margin? No, things are going okay, So let's let's not panic over now. On one hand, you know, I want to breathe a sigh relief that that we we don't panic at least. But at the other hand, how callous are we anymore? That nobody's worried at all? When major historical events like

this take place anymore. How how how stone cold are we to these impacts anymore? Well, isn't it a good thing? Though? I mean, business is separate from politics. And as long as you know, we're not talking between the difference between you know, changing our system of government, which is you know, sort of quasi capitalist socialist hybrid, uh, and you know, changing over to fascism or you know, in the nod to the

left who thinks Donald Trump's a fascist, or to communism. We're just talking about basically business as usual, regardless of who ultimately is president of the United States of America. Right, Yes, And you're correct, you're calling me out because I've made those very claims on these radio waves that business and politics

are very, very separate. I'm just pointing out the fact that we ignore this is about as clear of evidence as you can possibly get of the system chewing people up and spinning them out, and it just doesn't seem to have the emotional impact that it seems like it should. So numbers are numbers, but people are people, and I wish we could do a better job of not completely separating the two. Yeah, it's almost violence has become the norm

and we're all numb to it at this point. Frightening sad de evolutions society. Let's pause. We'll bring Brian James back and talk about well legitimate concerns outliving retirement savings to the extent you even have one, which is yet another component of our discussion here this morning. Well, part of it is, you know, talking people off a ledge or convincing them that they need to do more by way of preparing for the retirement. And I saw the article the Blackrock Survey that you provided by way

of materials Americans are worried about outliving the retirement savings. There was a corollary article published over in Fox Business regarding go banking, which is a personal finance sites Go banking rates dot Com. I guess they did a breakdown of how long one million dollars would last you in any given state, like, for

example, California. If you have a million dollars in your account, which we're gonna hear from you on maybe maybe most people don't, twelve years, eight months, and five days that would last you based upon the regular expenses they calculated groceries, housing, utilities, transportation, and medical coming up to about eighty grand per year. You're going to get twelve years and some change

in California. The best state to be in was West Virginia. Of all places, they said that you'd take one million dollars would last you twenty years and change in West Virginia. But you know, cost of living differences, et cetera. So but the point being, even a million dollars in your retirement savings account is got a finite life to it. Yep. So now let me throw out some thoughts here as to why that's a clickbait garbage article.

Okay, that's got a million dollars. If you have a million dollars in your four oh one k, well, how'd you get it there? You were working, you put money in if you have it doesn't If you have a four to one k at all, right, two hundred and fifty seve hundred thousand whatever, that means you were working and therefore you were paying into most likely social Security or some kind of a pension system if your state employees like that. So what that is entirely ignoring is that there's another pension

out there to support you. Yes, social security is its own question, of course, but even the worst projections don't don't have it going to zero. That itself is a clickbait headline SoC Security's not going to zero. Worst case scenario might need to be reduced by twenty five to thirty percent, which

stinks, but it's also not zero. So my point is, if you're saying a million dollars will only last twelve years in certain places versus twenty in West Virginia, I don't argue with that, But why are we ignoring the fact that that would be that that would not be the only resource for somebody in that situation, Well, I guess the flip to that is, if your annual expenses in retirement are roughly and it could be less, it could

be more eighty thousand dollars a year, that is not the amount you're going to ever get from Social Security. True, but if you but again, where did it come from? It's also not zero. So on the other hand, if you've got a married couple who both of them were working and built up a million dollar portfolio, then I think it's fair to say that

a minimum of forty thousand dollars coming from Social Security. So therefore your million dollars in your four oh one k only needs to generate about four percent, which historically that's been a pretty reliable rate distribution rate to rely on with out running out of money over a lifetime. So I'm not saying that that's not a problem. People shouldn't pay attention to this, but a lot of times these are just headlines to grab eyeballs. This article that we're discussing right here

itself is a perfect example of it. In the bold font at the top, Americans are worried about outliving their retirement savings. What's the subtitle Americans are more confident about retirement except no. But but the article of the line I there's Vanguard data shows the average balance and an employer sponsored retire retirement contribution plan rows to one hundred and thirty four thousand plus last year, which the nineteen

percent increase from the previous year. The median account balance was thirty five and eighty six bucks, which is not a whole lot of money. I mean compared to you know, a million dollars is still going to run out at some point if you look at the other clickbait article. So people may be more confident they're saving more. Sixty eight percent of Americans may feel like they're on the right track. But that's not enough of a nest egg to have socked away, is it. No, not really. But at the same

time, it might be for some people. You know a lot of these people who have these lower balances. You know, again maybe in a situation where they've got a different pension agreement. I've got a lot of a lot of clients who you know, if they're both teachers, for example, you work twenty thirty years as a teacher. First of all, God bless you. That is a tough tough, tough career, but you've built up a

solid pension if you put that much time. And I have married couples for whom this is the situation, and they're bringing home the seven eight nine thousand dollars per month in terms of their pension because that's the kind of benefit program that that industry has. They look at their couple hundred thousand dollars in iras and four h three b's and things, and they lament that they weren't able

to save as much. What I do with them, Brian is I explained to them that they're they're friends and relatives who are in the private sector with four to one case. They may have a much bigger pile of money, but their stream of income benefit is a lot lower. Right, a nine thousand dollars benefit a monthly check, which again for lifelong careers and the teaching side of things, that's not crazy, but that's equivalent to roughly a two

million dollars four oh one k spitting out distributions. So it doesn't matter whether you have a pile of cash benefit or a stream of income benefit. It matters that you understand how you're going to spend it, which which starts with what are your monthly bills? And a lot of times it's not nearly as scary as people have convinced themselves it is. Then they just simply haven't sat down and looked at it. That's why I have a job. That's why

I have a job. And it's a good idea. Sit down and consider your monthly expenses and then try to kind of, you know, sort of analyze and anticipate are those expensive going to go up or go down in retirement? You know, like I look like, for example, to our house. We've got it paid off, and we just got our bathroom done. We're pretty much finished for our house. I don't see any major massive home

improvements necessary. So I if I retired tomorrow, with the exception of general maintenance and upkeep and annual taxes, know what my housing expense is going to be, you know what I mean? Right again? And another kind of rule of thumb there that gets in the way sometimes is people will hear that, well, I need approximately eighty percent of my pre retirement income, and they'll say, well, if my pre retirement income is one hundred thousand dollars,

well, then that means I need eighty. No, that's your gross salary. You've never seen your gross salary because taxes come out of it. Fight that comes out of a four. When K contributions come out of it, you probably are looking at sixty percent. You're actually receiving sixty percent or so in take on pay. Start your expense analysis there. She's in the market for a new TV, she's got it already picked out, she knows which one she is going to buy, and she was waiting to check out the price on Amazon Prime Day. It's not obviously an emergency thing she needs right away, so she was willing to wait an extra few days to find out

if it went on sale on Amazon Prime Days. Of course, if it doesn't, she's still going to buy the TV. But there is that sort of suggestion that Amazon Prime Day is the best day to ever get a deal. Is that true? Is there some truth to that or has it been slightly exaggerated? Well, can be, But just like anything else, buy

or beware. So the quick story here, when I first learned about how these games kind of work, I was right afresh out of college and there was an electronic store up in Dayton where I was working at the time, that had a clearance and they was going out of business sale and they had

put these this really cool set of bowse speakers. And this is when home theater was a new thing and everybody had to have it and whatever they put these those little cube speakers that were those a couple decades ago, Well they had those, and it had a it had a bright green sign written with permanent marker as to what the price was, and it's an inventory clearance.

And I bought it and convinced myself that was the best deal ever. Uh. And then I looked up on the the what was the internet back then, which was this is the very very beginning, and I realized that was actually higher than the going market price. All they had done was put a green sign on it. And I got sucked in because it was a permanent marker sign. Well, this means it's like a garage sale, right. So fortunately the tools are better nowadays. So yeah, cant are there good

deals available on Prime Day? Absolutely, but you got to be a buyer beware. So the thing I would suggest, and we've talked about this before, there's a tool out there a website called Camelcamelcamel dot com. Stupid name, great website, But it's just like you might think the animal camelcamelcamel dot com. And you can type in or copy in the link of something you found on Amazon and it will give you the price history of what Amazon has

has charged for that particular item for the last couple of years. So you can get a good idea, and you could do it now knowing. You know, tell your mom if she's looking at a specific TV, here's what the price has been over time, and she can probably spot it from last Prime Day what did it look like? So when the new price comes out, she'll know whether she's getting a good deal or not. Oh, don't sign on to that first price whatever that is and not necessarily the best deal.

Where in the hell do they come up with a name like camelcamelcamel dot com. Stupid websit. They should be their slogan stupid website, great tool that is, that's actually sound information. I know my listeners appreciate learning about that one. Now. I guess nobody's gonna let Amazon have a monopoly on Amazon on Prime Day. And I understand that this year, Walmart, Target

Coals, as well as something called TikTok Shop. TikTok shop, like we need any more reason to go to TikTok, just just get rid of TikTok completely. But they're vuying for the same segment of the market. They're all launching their own sort of versions of Prime Days. Yeah, Amazon is the bell is the basically the bell cow for the retail industry. Whatever Amazon wants to do and turns into a marginal success is going to get quickly copied.

So we're in year ten now of Amazon Prime Day. First one was in twenty fifteen, and I remember it being laughed at when it first came out, But at that time the discounts were really crazy good. I remember that being a topic on our radio show back then because it was a little surprising how big of a deal that they had made of it, and it was they treated it like a lost leader. They just wanted the attention, they wanted the activity, and that certainly worked. So if you give somebody a

great price, you're going to see a huge in rush of shoppers. Of course everyone else has followed suit. Or maybe it's a time to reflect on markup that I doubt that anybody is selling something at an absolute loss air go. If they're knocking fifteen, twenty percent whatever off the price, they're still maintaining some profitability. So you know how much you're overpaying during the rest of the year. Yeah, that's a great way to think about it. Remember,

they're not doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. They're trying to drive activity, and just like any other store, they're hoping that it's just like Black Friday. They're just hoping that that one crazy deal on Furbi's or xboxes or whatever is going to bring you in to go by nineteen other things you didn't need that aren't marked down windows shopping. I'm in the store,

may as well grab it while I'm here. Nah, resist that and take everything that you didn't spend on an impulse buy and put it in your retirement program. An excellent ten. Wonder where you heard that? So Trump is there, and do you know what day he's gonna announce it? One of the things that people are on the edge of their seats for his announcement of his vice presidential pick.

Do you know what it's worn to secrecy? I have no idea, No thank you's telling us, no, no, no, I just I just kind of wanted to know if you knew and he was going to make that announcement. I have no idea. I have no idea, honest, Like, well, we're all going around saying, well, you think it'd be tonight? Do you think it's supposed to be Wednesday night? We really don't know, but as soon as I find out, I will certainly let

you know. We're headed this morning now to a breakfast which is going to be hosted by Attorney General David Yos this morning, and a lot of the Supreme Court candidates will be here. This place is packed with people. It's absolute fabulous. What else is on the agenda for the week in terms of

timing? What are we supposed to expect? Well, we go to breakfast every single morning at eight thirty, and those will go all the way through Thursday, and then actually all of the alternates and the delegates go to at eleven o'clock board buses to go to the Fights of Forum where all the events are going to be, and from five thirty to ten o'clock tonight we will

be there all every single night. Tomorrow is just going to be bad, billis because tomorrow is again breakfast at eight thirty and then Lake Geneva day where we're doing a vote tour and all kinds of things at the Abby Resort. And then eleven to two again we're back in Shulling getting ready to go to

Advisor again. People are raring for this convention, get have all their credentials, and it's just really neat to watch all the ohiowing, So the lens are all up there at that Lake Geneva resort and I can't tell you. We're just flooded with all the red, white and blue, and it's just such a great spirit for America. We have to get this country back on its feet again. Well, I can understand where the excitement's coming from because

this isn't a contested primary. Donald Trump's got the votes. He's going to be the nominee for president. And I guess, oh, shoot, lost, I lost track. I had an important thing I wanted to follow up with you on, Claire, and I just lost my train of thought.

How about the police presidence is in a noticeable police presence. I'm glad you just told me that or asked me that question, because if they brought an additional ten thousand police officers and it is the most securest place you could be in America right now, you can't even turn your head without two to three police officers standing there and thank them for their service during this time and for what they did for President Trump. But I'll tell you something, everyone yesterday

was expressing prayers for the family and the members of those who've lost people in that terrific assassination attempt, and for those who are seriously injured. You can't stay enough about praying for them and hoping that they have a wonderful recovery and a good healthy life of theirs to go forward. I have to tell you one other thing, though, I am just very impressed with a lot of the young kids who are up here too. My entire family, we have

ten of us up here. I had rent two houses because of course all the dogs they had to come to you know how that goes anyway and anyway. So we're we're just waiting anxiously to see who the VP choice is going to be. But there's a lot of good of high Republicans up here that are out there supporting our favorite son JD. Ban So we're I guess we're on is edge as much as you are. Yep, I was. I was waiting for that name to pop up Claire And how about on the flip

side. So you have a massive police presence, You obviously are very comfort about that, as are every as is everyone. But what of the protesters. We all heard about all the protesters that might be showing up there.

We know they're coming to the DNC, But do you see any there is there much of a presence of protester they're going to Evidently there's one line that they're allowed to go down one street that they're allowed to be down, and they're actually keeping them their sparricades and everything to keep them on that one street

all the way going down near the forum. And one other thing I will tell you also is our host going to the big one thing you're like, is a metorcycle thing that we're going to that will be on Wednesday, and that's going to be at the museum and Marino will be there. He's one of the hosts that everybody in Ohio's here. What are you doing on the radio? You should be up with us. I'm not. You should have

hosted up here. You actually have a ball. The excitement, it's just tremendous, all the good good that's even the best you know what I mean, everything plus good. I got that we have an extra bedroom.
