Based on Likutey Moharan lesson 24
Moshe's test at the end of the parashah with the insults of Datan and Aviram served as the "bounce back" before the great revelation of the 10 plagues and the miracles involved with them - it was necessary for this test of Pharaoh making the work harder in order to prepare the Jews to receive the light of their next level - i.e. the redemption from Egypt and the receiving the Torah at Har Sinai and subsequent entry into the Holy Land etc.
