The blemishes of Nadav and Avihu all add up to the point that they had a blemish in having a settled mind required to enter the Holy of Holies with the Ketoret, and even though Ketoret is a prerequisite for the proper joy needed to attain a settled mind, their intent for spiritual pursuit over-rid their attainment of joy etc.
