Parshat Behar-Bechukotai - The Redemption of the Jubilee
Episode description
In Parshat Behar, the Torah outlines four types of property sales driven by financial pressure—each revealing the soul’s relationship to joy, return, and spiritual inheritance. The Jubilee year, the Yovel, corresponds to the Keter, the 50th gate, where everything lost can be restored—if one maintains simcha. The field symbolizes a place of personal connection with Hashem; the house in the field shows visible fruits of that connection. The Levite, constantly steeped in Temple song, can redeem his portion at any time. But the one who builds in a walled city—rooted in worldly pursuits—may lose it permanently. Only through joy can we access the Keter and restore what was lost.
