Episode description

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of Breaking Down I.T. with Steve! Today, let’s talk about two crucial components of your computer: RAM and hard drives.

RAM, or Random Access Memory, is your computer’s short-term memory. Think of it as your brain’s working memory. It stores the data and instructions your CPU needs to process right now. It’s super fast but volatile, meaning it loses its data when the power’s off.

Hard drives, on the other hand, are your computer’s long-term storage. They’re like filing cabinets, holding all your files, photos, and software. They’re slower than RAM but non-volatile, meaning your data sticks around even when the power's out.

While RAM is fast but limited, hard drives are slower but have massive storage capacity. So, next time you’re upgrading your computer, remember the balance between speed and storage.
