Go to branthansen.com. So I don't know if this guy's listening. He might be, I don't know. Follow him on Twitter. He tweeted something... I tweeted back. Okay. I tweeted to reply to his tweet. I said: does it... would it matter to you if this wasn't true? And what did he say?
His response was, yes, it matters. And I just looked up some additional information and I have deleted my post. Oh, and it does matter. I. Wow. Right. I don't even know what to do with that. So if you are listening, sir, I told him I still like who does that? If there's a tweet Hall of Fame... Much respect. Yeah. I respect you more now than I did before. I saw the thing. That’s amazing. Yeah, I was just like that is fantastic. So much respect.
Hey, every now and then we do like to just sit back and remember stuff... the old days. That's not the right music. Hahahahaha hahaha. That's us graduating, let’s graduate, into yeah...old age. This is what I was looking for. Yes. All right. I like to think back to the old days. Yes. People today do not understand that this is even possible. What? That there's a time that we went through when if you dance too hard. It messed up the music. That's very true. Can’t compute. That's right. CD skips.
That's that's exactly right. Would you guys settle down. Yes, please. You're messing it up. You don't understand. Enjoy yourself, but careful. Or you’re gonna mess it up for all of us. Kids these days don't know that you can dance too hard and it messes up the music. ... Tell you what. It's so true. It's a lesson I keep learning over and over and over.
I find out who I am when someone crosses me. There's that old proverb which we love talking about, but the proverb is: if you want to find out what kind of tree a tree is, you bump into it and then you see what falls out of it. Yeah. So when somebody bumps into me, crosses me, doesn't... I don't get what I want. I don't get what I want. What happens? And then then we find out. But like everybody can be super nice when everything's going their way.
But what if somebody... what if I don't get what I want? Well, bump into a tree and see what falls. And now you know while we're remembering stuff I was just thinking this, another thing that kids won't understand as we're just kind of rocking here on the porch just looking back. Back when we texted. Okay. You had to really want to. What do you mean? Remember, it's like, okay, I want I want the letter S. I'm going to have to press the number seven four times.
A bunch of times. Yes, yes. That's right. And I got that letter done. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. You had to really....it had to matter, man. It had to be SOS, that's the only thing, like, it had to be something serious. So I'm really excited about something I wanted to tell you about. Like, last week, I talked at a Christian school. Hundreds of kids, boys and girls, high school, middle school. It's a big school about masculinity. And the reason I'm so pumped about it, it went so well.
I love that. They were so dialed in because I think it's because they hadn't heard... I was going to say there's, there's nothing being said. Yeah. Like a positive. Yeah. Here's what it actually is. And so I take a shot at it. I've written about this, what it means to be a keeper of the garden. The job that Adam was given. Yeah. And what that looks like to cultivate and bring security to people so they can... they can flourish because you're there. Yeah. And the.
You would not have believed the high school guys were scribbling notes so fast. Oh, I love that. I could see them, like the football team. Like all of them. What a blessing. It was so great. I just I was so thankful. I'm like, I'm not doing the perfect job of presenting this. Doesn't matter. I love that we get to talk about this. Okay, here's a feature of the show that's pretty popular, I think. And now can you do the intro? Yes, sure.
And now a masterclass on joke telling with your instructor, Brant Hansen. So when I was little, a strange adult guy stepped out of a time machine and slapped me for no reason whatsoever. Now, after devoting my life to building my own time machine, I'm ready to go back to when he was little and we'll see how he likes it. hahaha It's so. That's pretty funny. Oh, and I'm really into... anyone who doesn't think it's funny then this is really annoying because the du- . That's fine.
Just bear with this. It just hits us in the right spot. That's all. It's just like, kind of our thing. Can we just marvel at something for a second? Like, if you study ancient cultures. I've talked about this before, but like the gods of ancient cultures. Think about Zeus, for instance, or whatever, like. Wow, Isis and Osiris all, all of that stuff. There's nobody like the God of the Bible. It's like he's so different, so removed. It's amazing.
Like it's just to bounce a couple scriptures off you. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. That's in Psalms. Psalm. And here's another psalm. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. I love that. Another piece of Scripture. But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted. You consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you. You are a helper of the fatherless. No one else is like that. No one is like him.
That is utterly exceptional in the world. That an ancient culture would be like to have a God like that. That just. There's. There's no one like that. I have a neighbor who gets paid to play video games online. Okay. And then people get on her stream and interesting. Watch how good she is at this game, okay. And that's a thing. And it's a big thing. And I've heard people from Gen X which is our generation making fun of that. Like who would watch someone else play a video game.
And I think I might have even said something like that myself. Sure. And then I had a vision. Okay. And what was that vision. Me at an arcade leaning over... which... What was it? Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong. Pacman. Zaxon.. Yes. Centipede. Because I don't have any quarters. I’ll just watch you play. If you're somebody who struggles with fear and doubt. Don't be ashamed of that. It's actually pretty common. And it's something.
I'm so glad to remind you that Jesus was extremely patient about with people. Guy said, I believe it. Help me with my unbelief and Jesus found that to be a fine answer. Like, yeah, he did what the man wanted. He healed a family member and but when John the Baptist was doubting, Jesus was patient. When people, his disciples, were out on the sea with him, they failed their test and they got fearful like, he was patient with them. He didn't disown them.
I just I just want to remind you that, like, God's really good and patient with us. We were just talking about something a little while ago. I don't know if you heard it, but I was mentioning in the scripture where it says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. And how remarkable it is in the ancient world that you would have anything written down like that about a God who gets closer to you when you're brokenhearted.
Like every other culture, it's it's an honor culture. It's like strength. That's what we respect and... Gods want.... Strength. Yeah. This one. When you're brokenhearted, it comes closer to you. And I'm mentioning it again because I'm thinking that might be you right now. And I want you to know that that's his heart for you. He draws closer. He's not he's not getting away.
And even if you don't feel like he's around, if you trust him at any level at all, I just, I know, I know he's faithful and he means it. He's actually drawing closer to you whether you feel it or not. Cool. That's, something. Now batting for the Dodgers, Manny Mota. Okay. Yeah. Sorry. Yeah. No. No problem. Okay, so I did that for a reason. I got to play this thing off. This. Okay. The computer. So we were talking about scripture songs and how it'd be really good to commit
to memory. Yes. Using, little, little courses. And I was thinking I could do that. I think most people listening could do that. So I was like I'll try it. Okay. I'm going to try it. I sat down and I found Psalm 94. And I had a couple really sweet verses I'd never noticed before. I'm like, I can put this to music, so I'm going to play that for you. It's only a minute long. All right. So I just repeat it twice. Okay. But I got it in my head now. Nice. Let's hear it.
Okay, so but I want to absolve you of saying I don't want you to comment on whether it was good or not, okay? I don't want you to feel like you have to say, “oh, that was really nice.” All right. I won't I'm not going to say a thing. No, it's just I just want to give an example of that... It can be done. Yeah. So I sat down at a piano. You don't need a piano. You can just be in your head. You don't have to play an instrument. Okay? But I'll see if I can play it here.
I Thought... I recorded it on my iPhone when I did it. And it goes like this, this is Psalm 94...I think I'm calling it “And the Trees will sing” okay, because it literally says that. Oh, wow. Like, next time I'm out in nature and appreciating... Psalm 94. Okay. Yeah. So here we go. Turn it up. That's why it's echoing. And here we go. Okay. Psalm 96. Try this. And G. Let the heavens rejoice. Let the earth be glad. Let the sea resound And all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant and everything in them. Little trees sing for joy. Let the trees sing for joy. Let the heavens rejoice. Let the earth be glad. Let the sea resound and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Let the trees sing for joy. Let all the trees sing with joy. Sorry, I garbled a little bit to the lyrics, but the last two verses of Psalm 96. Yeah. Point is, I have that drilled into my head now, and I will too.
And you can walk around. I love that. Yeah. Walking around. It's so beautiful outside some day. Yeah. There you go. Let the earth rejoice and everything in it. Like, the seas and everything. Yeah. Let it resound. I really do love that. Yeah. I love the idea of it. You sent.. Didn't you send me something? You sent me someone singing scripture. Oh, yeah. That was off that scripture. Yeah. Hymninal project which is on Spotify. That was so good. Yeah. That was, song. What was it?
I was just listening to that today. It was really, really good. This very day. And I here on this very day. Yeah. The year of our Lord 2024. I just think that it is going to be more and more important that we find a way to have our minds absorb Scripture and God's Word. Like, as things, as you said, things become weirder. Yeah. And it just, it's... because you're not going to.... I really do believe. And we've seen it. You're you're not really going to be able to tell some things Fake to true.
You know what I mean? And and we know Scripture is truth. Yeah. And any and every way we can commit that to our minds and our hearts. It's going to be ever increasingly important, I think. This is not worshiping scripture, by the way. It's acknowledging Jesus. Yeah. And his regard for Scripture. Yes. He's constantly quoting it. Yes. As a, as a rock to go back to. Right. The song that I had shared with you is called Those Who Trust in the Lord. So it's like those who trust in the Lord.
Just holding up to them like It's good. Trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, we cannot be moved. Yeah. Forever. Those who trust in the Lord. So it's really just two parts of the song. And it repeats. Yeah. I like the next part and it's but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem. So the Lord surrounds his people. From these times Lord and forever. Then you get the idea of that... Yeah. And, I, I just I love all of that. Yeah. Yeah. So I got that in my head, too. Yeah.
But you can come up with your own little your own melody. You and your kids, all of that. But you just between you and God. Yeah. Sing a little song. You don't have to be a musician to do that.
