Episode description

Stefan Ruitenbeek (KIRAC) invited me to join him at The Woke Awards at Impact Festival 2024 with the theme: Deal With It.

'With the Woke Award Deal With It distances itself from right-wing gut feelings about the term woke,' states the Impact website. 'And we allow ourselves the right to critically highlight the current meaning of the term. It's time to create some space. And from within, with the necessary self-irony, to shake things up.'

'It's the ultimate example of left-wing self-undermining,' Stefan reads out loud from an app conversation with a friend, 'to openly admit that you have a weak ideology and that it needs to be overhauled, because right-wing people can easily mock you. A kind of sacrificial ritual, an extreme "wokey" needs to be sacrificed, so that we, the "wokies", look better or something. Ethnic cleansing of the "woke" community.'

This is my video diary of The Woke Awards and the conversations I had with the people involved...
