Let's do this fast and your sae thumps. I wake up every morning Boston's only classic rock morning show. I look at myself at the mirror and I go, maybe I'm dreaming. Maybe I'm a week dreaming. I'm asleep with Pete McKenzie. I'm still vothering Before every show the Ford, I'm feel dirty and unsatisfied and Kenny Young, yeah's get crazy. In other words, I'm crazy. On onety seven, I want you to go hard, fast, heavy, get to it. Here's to the future. Will you see lex
Oh see, it feels like a Monday to a guy like me. Five point thirty one on this Tuesday, the final day of April twenty twenty four, in the year of our Lord Skinny Young. What's happening? Because I really don't care. I just need to know. Well, I'll tell you what you need to know as the show progresses. Here that gentleman over there is mister Pete McKenzie. Hello. I think this is just felt like we could have all the things. You know. People say, oh, is
effortless working with him? Well, I think it's effortless working with you. Effort We make it so easy together, make it so easy. Yeah, so easy, heatherfore it has been battling some unforeseen circumstance on ninety three North. So easy. She's running a couple of minutes behind today, But if she were here, I'd introduce her like THISBEI baby. Nothing like talking birds
to kick off it Tuesday, am I right, I'll tell you. I'm gonna tell you what when that three point fifteen alarm rattled off this morning? You know, I had the long weekend. I just got back from Myrtle Beach visiting my niece and my new great nephew, which I'll tell you about a little bit later on today. But this morning, when that alarm rattled off, I couldn't get over how loud it was outside, Like the birds were up way before. Oh yeah, we're getting sunrises and the later sunsets.
Yeah, nice for twilight golf. You know why the birds are so loud so early in the morning like that, because they got to keep warm, and by doing that, it warms them up. When temperature get chilly, the birds get loud and get chirpy so they can get the blood flowing, which warms them up. Right. It makes us feel good, makes us as humans feel good here in the chirping bird. I don't know how good I felt with the alarm going off that early. But you know what
Chuck told us yesterday was that Chuck told us that. By the way, Chuck filled in for Kenny yesterday, in case you missed that, Chuck said, he never sets his alarm. What he never sets an alarm? Get out of here? Yeah, he goes, Why do I have to set an alarm? I don't have to work till two in the afternoons. Well yeah, yeah, but I mean yesterday he would have had to him yesterday he has to set an alarm, But he does have to set an alarm
when he has to get up and do the show. I always want to ask when he fills in for me, I always want to ask him if he does what I do. Where I set multiple alarms. There's a three fifteen, there's a three twenty, there's a three thirty just in case you know my sleepy ass, you know, shuts off the alarm instead of the snooze on my phone. So that's why I set up like three alarms, right, I mean, like most people, we have to get up at a certain time. Yeah, I mean we all hit our marks, right,
I mean, there's no sleeping in. No, there's no by the time you're you know, you're in your car, it has to be this time, by the time you pass this gas station, it's got to be that time. I know what it's like. Yeah, we do the same thing. Yeah, you hit that marker with the digital signboard on the mass Pike and you're like, all right, right, I know I'm less than fifteen minutes from this point to get here. Yeah, and so what Heather ran into is not uncommon for us on the pike. Yeah. I'm sure
it was a construction delay of some kind. Possibly an accident, could have been I don't know, But we deal with it every it's every morning, in the middle of the night. Yeah, they're working on the road site. You know. I had a deal with a I had a deal with a lead footed flat what do you call them, flatbed truck, flatbed trailer? Yeah, Jesus, Okay, see, I'll get the brain going.
Yeah, right by the b ut hours there. You know the road construction before Fenway, they make your veer over to one lane or the other. Today it was get over all the way to the right, So I knew that was coming. And then I saw the digital arrow and I started to make my way over. Well here comes this flatbed. I mean, he's flying and there's two cars in front of me, and he just about locked him up on the car like he was about to take out this car.
But I had been trying to get over and he just wouldn't let me over, so that I had about lock up my brakes to let him pass so that I could zipper in, you know what I mean. And it was well before the sign here. It's unusual for the eighteen wheelers. There's usually pretty well, it wasn't an eighteen wheeler, but it was a big flatbed like one that could haul an eighteen wheelers okay, I mean yeah, or
a bigger truck or tow truck anyway. But yeah, this guy was all over the place like he's either really late to pick somebody up or he's just getting done and wants to get the hell out of there. But yeah, it wasn't the warm welcome back to the high way I was expecting. Well, I will give you our number. It's a six one seven nine three one one double O seven and of course reach out to us in a couple of ways. Talkback feature iHeartRadio app free download, click on the red microphone,
leave us a voice message, send it on through. And of course you can text the show WZX and your message send it to seven oh four to seven. Oh love hearing from the regulars. If you want to be a newbie once again, w z LX and your message text that to seven four to seven oh five thirty six. You know, it's fifty and we're gonna have a high of fifty two. I just left the mid seventies South Carolina, so to come back to the fifties was like, really, really,
next three days, Kenny, Sorry to tell you. April's going out with a winter here a whimper as we welcome the month of May. Right, Well, well, hopefully we'll get back up there. Man. I had a couple of monsoon moments driving to get to the pike this morning. I don't know about you. Yeah, yeah, there were some showers going on. It was yeah, so the roads are wet in for Metro West anyway. I don't know it's coming from the south. Yeah, we're coming
down from the north. But does your trucks windshield wipers have the I'm on cocaine setting? You know, when you go full blast. I do, yeah, I do have. Yeah, even that was very difficult to see. The visibility was poor. Ah you put them on high huh, I had to, I had to very limited. It was very dark. Okay. You had a little downpour, Yeah, a little downpour, but it should be it should be lightning up anyway. It was lightning up by the
time I got to the city anyway. So we got that going for us, which is nice, and we got a lot of show to go. Here. We'll tell you what's going on in our classic rock Clash and how you can start earning your way into the thousand air column. Here with WZLX, we'll get into our thousand dollars bribe details right after. Mister Hendrick, It's Boston's only classic rock morning show. Five forty one, fitty out of doors, Getty young Pete McKenzie, welcome, Heather Forward, thank you,
into the fold, into the fray. What did you tell me just buzz the tower here that we weren't a bus to an airplane. When I was pulling around off of sixteen, there's a lightning right behind you, Pete. Oh yeah. When I was pulling around, I looked up and I was like, there is no way I'm seeing what I'm seeing. And it was a passenger plane obviously landing at Logan, but way lower. I've ever seen
a plane near our building. Yeah, and you know, I don't have real positive feelings about planes and buildings, so but I mean, honestly, I feel like every time the lightning wept, everybody on the expressway just stopped at the split. We were just at a stop. We were all just sitting there. Phantom traffic or just ease. I think it was just water, honestly, the build up of water and lightning and cars and a little
more than they expected. I think the weather people, I mean, they did call for some showers, but I hadn't heard anything about some thunderstorms and heavy rains. Oh there's the doppler right now. Air and lightning, I swear from like, I mean, by the time my alarm went off at two thirty, there was already lightning by my house. Wow. Thankfully I have dogs that aren't scared of things. Yeah they don't their thunderbuddy jackets. No, but but I've seen those. Oh yeah, yeah, No,
it was it was intense. Yeah, like the whole way in you didn't have any lightning. I didn't have any lightning driving in No, well from the west from Framingham had showers, that was about it. And Kenny said he had a downpour. So yeah, it was just a bit of a surprise, uh for the commuters this morning on that regard, so April showers. Yeah, well glad you're here safe and something. Yeah, really just turned around when I got to the celshop plaza, I'm going home. I'm
just gonna do a UI. I'm done because people get shot right there, right at the split. So I was like, I don't want to be sitting now, right, That's the only thing that goes through my brain. Now was as like, you want to be targeted. I don't want to be targeted by Aaron bullets. As I'm driving through there and stopped. Yeah, oh well, we're glad you here because you have some work to do
at eight forty this morning. Anyway, I mean, aside from headlines, you're going to be putting our listeners to the test in the classic rock Clash. I understand. We have a new Eagle's Greatest Hits box set. Yeah, it's a new one. There's a few, right, there's a few, but this one's called Take It to the Limit. It's a three disk set all kinds of rarities and live stuff and the studio leftovers and outtakes and
of course the hits from their fifty plus year career. So yes, Heather will be your quiz master at eight forty in our Classic Rock Clash to test your classic rectory. See if you can graduate from the College of Classic Rock Knowledge. Be a whole commencement ceremony and all that from the Planet Fitness, WCLX Studios, Horizon Smile Now now thanks for making us part of your morning
headlines with Heather. Great story on one point seven WCLX boxet. There's a running joke in my family, the one you know that I grew up in. Do you remember the Onion? I mean, is there still the Onion where it was just like headlines. Yeah, it was just they actually had a newspaper for a while. It was just headlines but no story, and the headlines were the funny part, right. So one of the things that made us all laugh real hard was a headline and all it said was owls
are a holes and it said the actual word. And the part that made it funny was no one actually thinks that about owls. I mean, owls are awesome, but owls are a holes, was the headline. So every Father's Day and Birthday and sometimes Christmas, but not as much, I get my father an owl. It's either a candle that's shape like an owl, or it's a little figurine, or it's a card that has owls on it. And the joke is, I just gave you a bunch of a holes,
right, And I filled my father's house with a holes. And it's been going on for forever, right, And so I see this headline and I'm like, this has got to be out of the onion. And it says they shoot owls in California, don't they? And no, they really are going to shoot owls in Calforn Oop. It's an owl that's not supposed to be there. So this is the Pacific Northwest. There's the spotted owl is like was the thing, but it's like rare and it's fragile, and
it's been pushed out by another owl, a barred owl. And apparently they're just taking over not a barn owl, a r R ed And maybe I'm saying it wrong because I've been known to do that over time, but no barn owl, so they're going to kill thousands of them. Wow, owls interesting how certain owls have certain rights. Well, the other thing is, I mean owls are like elusive, so like, what are owl hunters like? And I've never like my husband hunts like he's gonna like he goes all
the time. You're probably gonna have to research the barn owl habits, right, and the secret about it. I'm gonna be doing this at night, and you're doing it with night vision. Yeah. I was gonna say, you're gonna need some night vision goggles for short at night. You better you silencers. You're gonna wake up the whole neighborhood. Your gunshots exactly or a gun that sounds like who It just sounds like it's part of the game. I know. I've never heard of them doing that. Yeah with owls.
Okay, Pete, you dress up in a giant mouse cost them and I'll get my night vision goggles in the rifle. I just I thought it was fake. Now I've got to send this to my father and be like, look look what they're doing to the a holes in California. They're killing them. The struggle is real. The struggle is the big story though for most people, because no one really cares. I guess about the calling of owls? Is Karen Reid? Did I learn more since yesterday? No? Do
I want to learn more? But it is now one of the top trending stories on Yahoo, which means the nation is involved in this. Knew that was coming. Oh my gosh, Kenny City was on an air Where were you were you in the airport. Yeah, we were leaving Friday afternoon to fly down to Myrtle Beach. We're waiting, you know, when you get in the queue to get in your zone to board the plane. Yeah. And I look over and it was the two lanes were filtering or zipping together.
This woman had a T shirt on it said free Karen ree She's taking its whole plane. Wow. I just I mean, we were talking off air, and there's certain things about text messages, and I seem to have absorbed some of that information because that stuck out to me about different police officers sending different text message, one of them about I hope she kills herself and you know this that and the other and about dead bodies and property values and
but other than that, I didn't pay attention. Did anything important happen yesterday? Opening statements? Yeah, a couple of testament testimonies, right three. I think when his brother went on the stand, things that we expected to have, like no big shockers, I mean, yeah, I mean we'll take it as it comes. Yeah, there the information trickles in, you know, is the information to trickle in? I feel like day in the day, I think, I mean, I didn't know about that guy,
the officer confiscating the phone when he shouldn't have so much. Yes, and they're killing owls in California. Yes, that to me is stunning. Z Lex weather cloudy with scattered showers. Highs in the lower fifties, a passing morning shower, otherwise cool with clouds breaking for some sun tomorrowhis again though in the lower fifties, fifty degrees in Boston. I'm heather Ford on one hundred point seven w ZLX, Boston's only classic rock morning show. It'll leave six
to Rattle the Cage, six fourteen. On this Tuesday morning, temperatures dropped to look at that forty nine. It was fifty the last time we talked, Katie Young, Pete McKenzie, heather Ford and I told you so, I told you so team Yeah. Last Friday, before I went off on my long weekend, I said, Pete, I'm not going to take part in your sports parlay bet on Saturday. And I said, watch what will happen? You'll hit it? Well, you know what's funny about We talked
about it yesterday, Kenny. I actually laid two different parlays. What Heather told me? Yeah, I did one on Wednesday and then I did it again Friday because I forgot I did it on Wednesday. Daisy tell oops oops into three hundred and forty sandwiches. Yeah, and you put in what seventy nine? Seventy nine? Yeah, he got three fifty. See I did see what did I? What did I tell you? Pete? Now? Yes, good, Yes, it's good for you. I have a little play money. You know that's house money, can you? Yeah? I
know, I know. So the next I'll do this. The next bet we put in is a group. It'll be on me ten bucks each, thirty dollars. Yeah, I like to pass along. No win, We're going to do it. We do it. You get in it. That's what you feel like. You have something you don't like, get right? No, not only because I can't get involved in any bets where the ReBs are in it anymore. I mean, they're just I mean because you're going to bet against them if you want to win, and I can't bet against
them. Yeah, I don't blame me. I don't bet against my teams either ever. Yeah, and if I want your parlays to work, I have to not participate in them. Hey, hopefully we're going to be hearing this a lot tonight. Yes, Bruins have a chance to advance. Send the leaves home. Eh, you go with Swaying tonight, Right, you go. You gotta go with Swaying. That has got to be the talk. It was the talk. It's got to be in the airport terminal.
It was the talk on the plane. Once the plane landed yesterday, all I could hear was people muttering, well, you gotta go with Swayming. You got to go with Swaying. And then as the argument, you don't want to run this guy into the ground. Well it's been a few days. I think he's got enough rest. Yeah, get in there, close it out tonight, closet. Then I would start all Mark in game one.
All Mark's got a good he's got a good mark against Florida. So now with the Panthers advancing, that would be our next opponent should the Bruins advance past the Leaf tonight. So hopefully they do wrap it up at the Gaden tonight, because you don't want to go back up to Toronto and extend this thing any more than it needs to be. Advance on home, right, Austin Matthews, Bertuzzi, great players, but I don't want to see you in your home ice again. All right, So at seven o'clock tonight,
Red Sox kicking off a new series tonight too against the Giants. They're at home and Fenway. I'd love to see the numbers tomorrow morning for the Bruins' possible elimination game versus the Red Sox Giants, because you know they bump that Tonessen plus. So that'll be on the second one right. Oh, Actually, now the Bruins will be nationally televised, won't it. I think it might be on ESPN. I don't know, you be honest about it. To look, I think that might be nationally televised. As a matter
of fact. To get into that, well, since we were talking about money, remember we got a lot of it to throw around here, thousand dollars bribe in effect, coming up at nine to ten this morning, your first thirteen opportunities to get paid to listen to all this great music and our occasional witty banter when we can squeeze it out of a stone, but listen. Yeah, thirteen opportunities grab a grand become a thousand dayre with a thousand
dollars come up at nine ten. Scattered showers on and off throughout the day, only getting into the low fifties. Might have a shower or two later this evening into tomorrow. Where's that I am of sunshine? When we welcome the month of May into the world, hopefully we'll see what happens. It's Kenny Young, Pete Mackenzie, heather Ford and uh, you know, I guess when you're a kid, you set goals for yourself sometimes. And then
there's this guy. Yeah, this guy probably didn't do much thinking about this at all. So picture uh, sort of a nacho libre, you know kind of guy. So he's wearing a mask, and he's wearing you know, like what looks like a wrestling suit. So he holds school wrestling suit and so on. So yeah, exactly. So on social media he throws out the fact that he's going to eat a jumbo jar of cheeseballs, like the wholesale Club done that. We've had that challenge before. Have you finished?
I mean no, no, it was William who said he was like, I could do that. Usually we just had him that giant container in about four days later. It's scotte okay, all right, Like like I if I was to do something like that, it would it would have to cheeseballs would not be it. No, no, But there are people like my husband and my oldest Yeah, they can't get an enough of them, and they feel so artificial to me, like theballs covered in cheese powder.
But they love them, love them. Yeah, what do they wash them down? It is it a mountain, dude, cheeseballs flaming hot mountain dew. So this guy grabs the attention. You know, they have a gathering in Manhattan. In Manhattan, I think it's Union Square Park. Does it sounds familiar? Guess many people show up for this, right right, Well, it's good to see people gathering for some fun. Yeah, change right. So this guy here, Yeah, this guy finishes this jar of this
jumbo jar of cheese balls. And he's by the way, he's wearing this mask, heather, and he's got cheese dust all over the me so, you know, to the crowds to light he completes his task. Listen to the crop. Yeah, I'm gonna throw up. This guy wanted to shake his cheese hand. Yes, yeah, I'm only twenty two, but when I can, Yeah, I'm gonna go home and up throw up. Wow, is gonna run for president? He goes, I'm only twenty two, but yes, yes, I am. I mean did he put on a
Facebook post? Because I mean, how does how is there that many people so invested in this thing? Had to be social media? You know how it works. Yeah, or a college campus if he's twenty two. Yeah, I might have gone around like, hey, we're going to do this instead of that, and then he just ate cheese balls. Man, I don't know if there's anything I could eat in a three gallon sitting of that magnitude. No, I mean, you know I think things that I like,
I wouldn't be able to eat them. Many pretzels, there's no way I love it. Are heavier than heavy, too hard to chew up and get down. Yeah dry, Yeah. Can I just tell you real quick, one of the worst things I've ever seen on the internet is a woman who made mac and cheese, melting those cheese oh with other ingredients. I was like, please tell me you have other things in your life besides the knowledge like and then she like blended. It was just the most disgusting thing
I'd ever seen. That doesn't sound appetizing at all, not one bit. Little puky chee. Oh now these pretzels that make it make darsty one hundred point seven w u Zeelix, Boston's only classic rock morning show. Here six forty one clouds are breaking up a little bit, but hey, maybe another chance at a shower this afternoon into this evening here, Ketty Young, Pete
McKenzie, heather Ford. I didn't leave them out on purpose when I just did a little sport something something a little while ago mentioned the Bruins close out game tonight and the Socks kicking off a new series. Only did that because they're on at the exact same time. But Boston Celtics last night another impressive win on the road down in Miami to take the three games to one series lead one O two eighty eight last night. But the big talk of the
game was, uh, Porzingis with that injury. It was so much speculation. Was it is calf again? Was it his achilles? Did something pop in his knee? One thing's for sure. As soon as it happened on the non contact injury, threw his hand in the air to inform the bench, I get to get the hell off the court right now, so you're gonna need to replace me. It looked bad. It looked bad, but said it wasn't an achilles. There's same injury that he might have had before.
But it could be something totally brand new, is what I'm thinking. Oh, just something really fun that's gonna make us really nervous for the rest of the playoffs. Such a critical component of that. Yeah, I don't know if you caught Barkley after the game. Charles Barkley after the game talking about mister Porzingis. He is a really huge part of the offense and defense. I just hope he's all right, because listen, let's be honest.
If there something's are healthy, they're gonna win a championship. In my opinion, they got everything you need offense, defense, good solid role players, yeah, yeah, I think, and no one's disputing that. But I will tell you that when my Spirit Airlines plane landed at Logan yesterday, the flight crew was a Miami based flight crew, and the guy on the intercom made sure to let a Boston bound plane know that the Miami Heat were gonna
win last night. And as I walked off, the planet went Celtics, Celtics, and he just kind of looked at me, as you know, I'm sorry you don't have your butler. I'm sorry that we went down to your building and took two games. Sorry, not sorry, But Celtics looked to close out their series tomorrow night at seven thirty against the Heat, and by all accounts, coming back home, I think they got a good chance to do. Yeah, I get it wrapped up in five and then take
on the winner of that Cavs Magic series. There you go. You're being a good team, though, I mean, you know, without Butler they're not as good. They got their well coached everybody knows Spolster's a great coach exactly, but not enough talent. And one side note, as a lifelong Boston Celtics fan, it was nice to see the Lakers get eliminated. Yeah, Lakers are out swept. They're done. I'll tell you what's not done
this program. We got a lot more show to go here and keep in mind eight forty Classic Rock Clash. We're going to be taking it to the trivia limits for your chance to score a new box set from the Eagles. Yes, we'll give you opportunity to graduate from the College of Classic Rock Knowledge at eight forty from the Planet Fitness WCLX Studios. Now, thanks for making us part of your morning lines, Heather, great story, Thank god one
seven WCLX boss set. I mean we're constantly talking about people winning big lotto jackpots. Yes, are they worthy? Exactly? We not have this conversation all the time. This is what I thought too, Heather thot what this is a gem of a story. This is it. This is what we
were asking for. So now anybody it is. It is so now in anybody can win because it's fulfilled its purpose of giving to the person in need who obviously so anyway, the headline on NBC Boston winner of one point three billion dollar powerball jackpot is an immigrant from Laos who has cancer, who just went through his last chemo treatment and decided to share his billion dollar whatever with a friend in another state from Wisconsin. Hello, I I was just so
and he's just so happy, and it's just it was wonderful. I won. And then I'm thinking, oh, I'm happy for a farm, my family, they will have a good life. We want a lot, we want a jackpot. Yeah, forty six years old, Portland. He go his name's Chang. I think it's safe on but he goes by Charlie and just just so super excited. I just couldn't even believe, and chose to share with a friend A fifty five. These are people who will be able
to live long enough to spend their money. That's the other thing, right, You don't want it to be like someone who has you know, it was one of those billion dollar jackpots that went to somebody that you can you can embrace. Yeah, you can embrace this and you're happy for legitimately happy and he's out there. I feel one thing I feel bad about is he's out there smiling. Everybody knows who he is now, like he's just going
to be he's going to be hit up. But he says he could find a good doctor now, like he can find it sure the best available, right, because he did go through his last chemo treatment. Yeah. And then this is a piece where he's he's telling he's informing the friend, Hey, hey he won. Yeah, where you going? What are you doing now? I'm driving to work and I thought you don't have to go work. No, I'm all the bad owning kensa. So I don't think how
am I going to have time to spend all of his money? Yeah, his family story, It's I just it was what you were looking for. It was now. Of course there are gonna be people listening right now who are agitated by the word immigrant. And I hate to tell you, just be happy for this dude, Like, it's just this is a this is a good guy. This is a good story. He's sharing with friends and they bought a ticket. So just like any of us, just like anybody
else, the Karen read case is going on. Kenny, while traveling on Spirit Airlines, managed to see a woman hop on an airplane to go to Myrtle Beach who had a is it free Karen Readers Karen t shirt on. It's on Yahoo. It's it's one of their national stories, you know, and they call it a Boston area Boston area woman on trial for murdering ex boyfriend police officer. Would they x or were they presently? I don't even know everything that came out yesterday. It just seems like there's so much wrong
on both sides. Oh, none of it seems great. Nothing is great on either side. And someone's deceased. That's the worst part. I feel like that's just completely gone from the story. Everything's about the people who did things wrong against her, and her possibly and her being tried for the murder, but nothing about the person who's deceased, right, right, So anyway, the headline on CVB was witness testimony continues in Karen Reid murder trial after
opening statements that I have not even watched. That's not part of the headline. But I still I'm trying to care. I know it's a big story. I say it every day. I feel like, little by little I'm getting things. But I know she pleaded not guilty to second degree murder. Yeah. I mean, as long as as long as you cover it, you're gonna be getting trickled information. At least you know how old she is Karen Reid? What is she forty seven? Forty three? Yes? Really
forty three. Okay, thank you. Wow, look at you now you should go play power ball. Well you know I've been known to be able to guess people's age within a year. Wow, good for you. That's like a that's one of those circus things slash fair things, weight and usually park. Yes, you should do that. Xeelex. Weather cloudy with scattered showers, highs in the lower fifties. There are some serious ass lightning and thunderstorms. I don't know if any of you went through those, but it
was crazy land a passing morning shower. Otherwise cool with clouds breaking for some sun Tomorrow, hies again in the lower fifties, fifty degrees In Boston. I'm heather Ford on one hundred point seven Double z Lax, Boston's only classic rock morning shows. Kenny Young, Pete McKenzie, heather Ford. So you've heard us telling you this morning about our one thousand dollars Bride, which resumes
at nine ten. You've heard us tell you about our Classic Rock Clash at eight forty, where you can win the new Eagles box that take it to the limit. But I'm gonna tell you about little something else we're going to be doing for you in less than forty eight hours. Yes, Star Wars geeks rejoice. It's almost that time of year. May the fourth, you know, May the fourth be with you. Yes, I know, I know. Never get never get tired of it, never get tired of Chewbacca,
the ultimate co pilot in the universe. So, you know, the Phantom Menace movie is celebrating its twenty fifth anniverse this year. So in celebration of that, lucasfilm decided we're gonna go big, We're gonna go large. We're gonna do a Skywalker Saga marathon all nine films, not Rogue one unfortunately, which I think is one of the best of the new Star Wars sect. You know, a Star Wars first my favorite one. It's a great
one. I love that one. But starting in chronological order with the Phantom Menace nine movie marathon Friday Night Legacy Place in Dedham, So it spills over, as you would guess by doing the math into May the fourth Saturday, and we want to give you an opportunity to win your passes. Wow, you can geek out over time. You'll be geeking out people dressed up, I'm assuming. Oh yeah, people love the cosplay so that they're gonna be
dressing up for this thing. So not only we're gonna give you passes to the marathon, which, like I said, starts Friday night, but we're also gonna hook up our winner at eight twenty five Thursday morning. Is when you got to listen eight twenty five Thursday Morning, the Skywalker Saga Limited Edition
souvenir poster, commemorative badges, and pins. And if that was not enough, since you're gonna be there for nine films, you're gonna get twenty five percent off all your concessions during the marathon, So get all jacked up on your Mountain Dew and your jack Linx and whatever else you're gonna need. Probably a lot of sugar, I think to stay properly, they're probably gonna have
to hook up extra coffee machines too. Yeah. I'm thinking if you're wearing a costume, though, you're probably much more able to sneak in a few things. Yeah right, yeah, yeah, Like you're looking at me like you've never done that, no pee, because that would be against rules and regulations. Exactly how my mother did it every time with a giant beach badge. Yes, sucking a beach bag, Oh yeah, with two liter bottles
of soda full s, giant bags of popcorn sandwiches. Yeah, and the candy bars that we were allowed to pick out at the gas station before we arrived at the movie theater. You're going to a movie theater, You're not going through TSA Yeah, exactly. Oh my goodness. So yeah, like I said, to set your set your alarms, set your reminders on your
smartphone. Star Wars Fans eight twenty five, Thursday Morning, we'll have your passes to the Skywalkers saga, and you don't have to take my word for it, right one hundred point seven z Alaxpawson's only classic rock morning show. You lose a Thanks bec seven thirty nine. Here in this Tuesday morning man, it is a tale of two cities. Weatherwise, as we look to our north out of headquarters here, it looks like it's trying to lighten up,
trying to clear up a little bit. And then you look to your south and it is the Phantom Menace to the south, darkening clowns, more showers expected, maybe some more enlightening. One thing's for sure, it's Kenny young people and Kenzie Heather Forward We've been dealing with some sort of power surges power outages here in the building. Yeah. I thought somebody might have got an electrocue to doing some work out there. Yeah. Everything just went boo
yeah and then down the back up quickly. Yeah, a couple of glitches. I mean, the radio station itself is on generators. But I know when the building loses power it goes down to like emergency lighting. But everything came back on. We didn't see the emergency lighting, so I don't know what it was. Maybe somebody was just you know, with the large extension cords, just unplugging it, plugging it back in. So you're saying kiss came back on. Maybe maybe, But listener, I hopefully you didn't have
your your programming disrupted or interrupted. But it seemed like we stayed on. We were rocking and rolling. Uh. And I was rocking and rolling this weekend. I played hooky yesterday. Let's get into it. So what's going on with Boston's only classic rock morning show on one point seven WZ lex Man, I'll tell you what we Uh. We boarded Spirit Airlines for the first time. I've never been on Spirit bargain basement, which I speak highly of. Yeah, I know a lot of people have problems with it. I
take short flights. I've had no problems with Spirit. Okay, okay, I was right now. But yeah, I was leary, but because we were just going for Friday to Monday down to North Myrtle Beach, where my niece is relocated. She's a new mom, just had our great nephew four months ago, so we're meeting him for the first time. That was the point of the trip to see her new digs a great uncle three times open. What's his name, let's go bo Young, oh Bau. He's destined
to be a left fielder. He's an athlete with that name, right bow Young. Uh So, yeah, we left Friday, and I got to tell you, I was leary about the Spirit because I'd never flown him before, and I was in the tight we were in, like row thirty in the back. I was in the tightest airplane seat I've ever sat it in my life, and I don't cry about it often. But I'm six four, all right. I'm not the large girth wise, but I'm six four, So I had to sit with my legs folded, kind of like when
I'm in the Grand stands at Fenway, That's what it reminded me. And then on top of it, I had a woman in front of me with the long flowing hair that she kept throwing over the seat, so I had to force one of my legs to the aisle and the hair kept falling on my legs. So that was a whole thing. But like you said, Pete, thankfully the short flight it was what an hour and forty hour and
forty five minutes. It sounds like torture, though I know I had the grin and Barrett, but I was a little tired, you know, from being up early Friday, no nap, so we got through that. But yes, loved seeing the great nephew. And my niece's development is in this like they call it, like the Barefoot Resort or whatever. So her new development is townhouses, but they're detached townhouses and they're all painted different colors or
sighted different colors, so they look like beach cottages. Yeah, and they're all bright colors and stuff. So she's in a great two bedroom. And then you know, if you know anything about Myrtle Beach, it's the golf capital of the world. You can't throw a rock and not hit a sign for a golf course or mini doll everywhere golf. We did that every night, mini golf, a different one every night. You never seen more on that route seventeen on the way back to the I think we counted a dozen
in less than five miles. They're super fun. How do they all stay in business as mini golf places? Well, I mean it's a vacation land. Yeah, yeah, I mean I'd only driven through Myrtle Beach and we had stayed somewhere further down south from where we were this weekend, but she took us to this awesome place on Saturday. One of the largest breweries I've ever been to as far as like game outdoor games and things going on, very family and dog friendly. And it was right on the just off the
inner coastal there. It's called the Crooked Hammock, a Crooked Hammock, and it was a little like island gazebo, and I said, I want to go sit out there. It's on the water. The bar had swings that you sat in around that. But we were at a high tops and dogs though, yeah, a lot so on the land side. There's certain sections if you didn't want to be with the kids and the dogs and the corn hole, and they had a trampoline park for kids. They're all at the
brewery it. You know, you could go out to the main bar area like where we were, or you could sit in the dining room. But place was packed. It was jamming, but we had no problem just sliding in, grabbing a table and food. Was unbelievable. I can't believe. There wasn't a point, Kenny where you didn't break away, you know, being a golfer. Just yeah, great to see her, dude. I really couldn't. I really came all this way to see her and my new
great nephew. It was killing me not to, but I couldn't, you know what I mean, such a short take that new great nephew for a riding a golf cart. Yeah you know they make those now, right, like the strollers that you put the baby in and the golf club sit right on the side. Yeah, you're nad so that they could take their very hopefully very quiet child course outside fall asleep in the fresh air. Well,
you just play a quiet game of golf. Nice four and a half hour break for mom, right, Yeah, Well, now that she's down there, she says she may want to pick up golf and I was like, that might be perfect for her, right, like throw on your baby Bjorn and have that it. Yeah. So that was Saturday Sunday. By the way, this time of year down there, mid seventies, just perfect, perfect weather we had down there. Went to the beach yesterday a Sunday,
rather not crowded. We could spread out, the baby had his little tent going on. It was just great. It was great. It was hard to come back yesterday. But as we boarded the flight home, the wife said, I got a surprise for you. I bid on upgrading our seats. Like what do you mean you bid on new seats for the flight home? And again an hour and forty minutes has different levels they do. I
didn't know that. So she had gotten this email from them the night before when we checked in, and it said, yeah, tell us what you're willing to pay to sit in the exit row. So she looked at what it was if we just bought those, and it was like thirty three bucks more a ticket, so she bid thirty five score. I felt like I was sitting in first class on the way home. So spirit you totally redeemed yourself. So she got for thirty five dollars right, five extra. So
yeah, we sat in the exit row and got to stretch out. But one of our seat mates on the other side of my wife was this very nice fella goes by the name of Jeff. Longtime w ZLX listener, recognized me before I all right, Joh, probably say it listen every morning, love you guys. Oh probably saw us in social Maybe he's from bill Rica and he was down there. He said he's been going down to Myrtle for almost thirty years. He and his crew of six guys and they were kind
of spread out amongst the plane. But Wick a nice guy. I got to talking with him because I wanted to take notes. I'm like, where'd you guys play? What'd you do? So well, one of his buddies did one of these package setups, so they do all they book all year rounds of golf for you. I think he said they played four or five times while they were down there, at different places, and I noted down all of them, right, and then I told us where he stayed.
So that was a whole package, and so they just had it. They had to add in their flights in their rental car. But yeah, it was it was a nice setup there. I wonder if their golf packages included ivs, because that's usually what it takes to be able to play days in a row, poker, staying up till two am, getting up for an eight o'clock late nights at the tiki bar. The ivy bags, yeah,
he says. But you know it was so nice because you just quarter mile down the road there was a dunks, he said, and so every morning one of the six would wake up first and go down and get the box of Joe to come back and you know, properly feeding water. But yeah, it was nice chatting with him, and uh he said to say hello to you too, And it was just a nice experience as we were exchanging
stories and pleasantries about the golf courses. So he kind of gave me a few dues and don'ts, and I said to him, yeah, did you notice how many many golf places are are down here? I go. They're like our dunkin donuts back home. So it was a good time, man. But yeah, so hopefully you uh you guys survived okay without me yesterday. Well it's good to hear you got you got refreshed, Kenny, you got some color. Yeah, hopefully that can stick around for a little bit
here. Tom Petty's going to stick around with us as ZLX from a Planet Fitness w CLX Studios. Now, thanks for making us part of your morning goodliness. Great story, one w CLX bosses. When I saw the story about Giselle bunch In this Morning, I immediately thought of Princess Diana. It's just where my brain goes. Pretty lady being chased by paparazzi and feeling scared, except in this case, Giselle was driving. Did you see the video?
I didn't. So the headline on BZ this Morning, Surfside Mayor, Florida Police chiefs says Giselle bunch In's traffic stop could have been handled differently. Uh you know, we're not gonna play too much, but mostly because there isn't too too much. But she's in tears and she was pulled over for speeding, but she was speeding because she was trying to get away from people who were chasing her. So I mean, what do you yeah, what
do you do you know? So here she is being talked to it like a like a police camera, a body can starting to say, I understand who you are and i'll give you There's nothing I can do about that. Okay. One the final and we pulled the lamby beach because it was She goes, why can't you stop him? And then he's saying, well, you have to file with another police force. It was in another town when it started, and I can't do anything about that. Yeah, he didn't
sound very helpful. Well here's where she yeah, okay, so I'm sorry, So there's nothing I can do about that. But what do you mean? Why are you crying? He goes, why are you crying? And she goes because it's hard to hear. He goes, why are you crying? And she goes, I'm just so tired. Everywhere I go. I have these f and GUIDs after me. Nothing protects me. I can't do nothing. I just want to live my life. Now. She's just in a jeep. She's just in a car. You know, it's not being
driven anywhere. And that's because she just she said, she just wants to live her life. You's have to operate and out in public like that, you know, you file. She probably should have bodyguards or should probably travel with somebody. No, I know, probably dropping kids off at school.
But the other thing is like she's not doing anything for work at this point, she's just driving around her taent Like to me, there should be some sort of you want to take pictures when people get out of their cars and when they're walking around doing things. I mean, it's still invasive, but that's your deal. But no chasing. Haven't we learned from nineteen ninety seven.
No chasing people, right, because that turns into high speed and it turns into dangerous danger for the person you're chasing and danger for the people on the roads around them. Right. So you know they're saying that the police officer could have done something a little different. I mean in this case, you know, pull over by pullover, this is just another one for him, right, But you know he just someone's why are you crying? Right? Well? I mean if I were her, I would have somebody do
those things for me. And you know, you're just a high profile person. You just in your house the whole time, basically have to No. I think you should be able to drive around. I think you shouldn't be chased while you're driving. I just that's ridiculous. So they should come up with some rules about no chasing someone when they're driving. I mean, I mean until those rules are changed, That's how I'd operate. Because the photo for the photographers, they're going to go after. Yeah, but you don't
know the tabloids are going to go after. But maybe you don't mind staying in your house all the time. I mean would mean no golf, no going out and going to the grocery store, I mean, no doing anything. It would just why I mean, then you're a prisoner. Well, you know, initially my thought was have somebody go with you, be there, somebody you you can afford to hire somebody to drive you and your kids
and drop them off at school. Yeah, but and that way you have protection against these idiots thinks you're just living there and you just want to By the way, the last time to do that, I know, any last time anyone told me why are you crying? And someone was a doctor and then he had just told me I had a brain aneurysm, and I broke out in the tears and he looked at me and he was just like lurch from and he goes, why are you crying? And I'm thinking myself,
I don't know I didn't know what words to say. You know, brain anurism, right, you're telling me, you know, so have a good day, one hundred percent healthy. Yeah, Blertz did not have a good bedside manner. He did not know. But the next doctor I went to said, no, you do not have that, and so I cried then too. But that doctor didn't say to me, why are you crying? Which was a which was a more relief. Yeah, by the way, x lex weather cloudy with scattered showers, highs in the lower fifties, a
passing morning shower. Otherwise cool, with clouds breaking for some sun tomorrow. Hi's again though, in the lower fifties, fifty degrees in Boston. I'm heather Ford on a one hundred point seven double z LX. Let's get a young Pete McKenzie heather Ford eight twenty three. You ready to throw ten bucks each on Mike Tyson? No, no, no, I just want him to win. You want him. But he's an underdog. I know. So he's almost sixty. Well he's he's almost twice the age of Yeah.
Well he actually is more than twice the age of Jake Paul. Yeah, it's a little it's a little Scarac. It is uncomfortable. I know how awesome Mike Tyson was when he was in his prime. That's when a little after that. Yeah, but he's older, right, Yeah, I've been watching his training videos. Yeah, I know he's, oh my god, the purely fast. No, he's training. He's not getting punched. No, he's doing it. Yeah, he's doing the punching. That's the thing.
That's great. I'm glad he's doing the punching, but he's not getting punched, and that's I don't know. So Oscar de la Hoya, who's highly decorated sixteen year boxing career, eleven titles, he was approached on the street about this Tyson Paul fight coming July the twentieth. I'm gonna pray for Mike Tyson because I love Mike Tyson. You know, I think j Paul. Look, he's he's a real fighter, he really is. It's a dangerous fight. Mike Tyson, be careful, please now last, that's last.
If Mike loses, could this potentially ruin his reputation. No, Mike Tyson is cemented legacy forever, even a loss. No, we're not saying the law that was hypothetically if you know, if he loses, you're saying he's going to get away. Staffrey was going to just remember the old Mike, not ye will be the man forever because he's fighting at sixty. It's an exhibition. He's not a title bout. We all know what he did in the eighties and early nineties. He just destroyed people. Yeah, that's
what could change, is this physical well being. That there's a dude in puns. It looks like Jake Paul is there. Yeah. I don't know this glass Jel or somebody else, but I saw a meme about it. I was like, he's actually it's actually come to fruition that video game. Yeah, well so Tyson has he's given up sex and he's given up marijuana and training for this fight. But is he scared, like like Oscar de la Hoya said he should be? Is he scared? This is called the
exhibition? But if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the law that we're fighting under. This is a fight. Anything I'm afraid of, I confront it and that's my personality. Like right now I'm scared to death, but have to fight. If clofa less nervous I've become because this reality, and in reality, I'm invincible, so invincible, I'm impregnable. I love the fact that I am cheering for Didn't you go to jail for rape? Did Mike Tyson never do jail? He did jail time,
And I'm still cheering. What does this say about me? I'm still cheering for him over Jake Paul. Oh yeah, I mean, but it's just Jake Paul's sanction fight eight rounds two minutes each. Normally it's twelve rounds three minutes each. And Mike Tyson will be paid and he's sixty twenty million dollars. Is this a pay per view or is it Netflix? Yeah? On Netflix? Boom, Yeah, I know, you know, I mean maybe at last ninety seconds like Tyson's old fights, his old fights. Yeah,
I remember back in the day when he was in his prime. My buddies would all say, hey, everyone, come over and throw like, you know, ten fifteen bucks into the pat the hat and we'll we'll get the paper of Tyson. And they were over in ninety seconds or less. You're like, what the hell I just paid for? I'll tell you I paid one time I paid for a fight to watch Mike Tyson and it was Buster Douglas. Oh okay, and we were in Oklahoma. Nobody was there but me. I just put it on in my you know, in my house,
and I was just electrified, stunned. It was just unbelievable that he lost because he was he was like an armored vehicle. Seemed like a fix. I don't know. Maybe I mean because Buster Douglas looked kind of soft to me, yep, when he stepped in the ring. Maybe I mean, you know, I'm always leary of these exhibitions. Other say the fix was in because I'm the one usually crying about fixing. But boxing, everybody
knows that that's usually where it happens. Remember the other The other weird thing that's happened to me in my life is that one of my favorite people I've ever met is a convicted Wasn't he a convicted murder? Don King? Remember? Don King was going through the game and I ran out, and I'm like, Don King, wouldn't wait to take a picture with him to show my father, even though Don Kick's dangerous. But he did invite me into his limo. He was wearing a bedazzled denim jackets, right, I didn't
he swooned you. He did. I said, I can't go with you, Don King, I have a show. Yeah, but it was really nice meeting you. I mean I have an s eating grin on my face from that picture, Like I'm like, I can't believe I'm standing next to the Don King. Did Don King have to have the sun roof open for his hair? He was a real tall man. Well, Mike Tyson does have a little something in his corner for this fight, though. Did you hear what it was? And that is I get the twinkle. He's got
a little twink, got the twinkle. I'm just saying, all right, zear old twinkle. He's got the twinkle. I'll put a sprinkle on plus twenty eighty seven on Mike Tyson O ching Hey, listen, shifting gears here coming up at eight forty in our classic rock clash. Was it how Long Hell Freeze Is Over? Or Long Road Out of Eden? Long Road Out of Eden? Yes? Which of these
songs are singles? Which of these singles is the longest? Hotel California, Take It to the Limit or Heartache Tonight Hotel California. Yes, the closest of those songs was Heartache Tonight, but that was still in the fours. Before becoming the Eagles, they temporarily called themselves teen King in the Emergencies or rock Stars of Radio, Rock Stars of Radio. You wish King in the Emergency? Yes, for like one show, I think that the Gallery and
Aspen. In two thousand and four, Rolling Stone magazine listed the Eagles where in their top one hundred Greatest Artists of all time, Top ten, Top fifty, or top seventy five, Top trifty. Nope, seventy fifth. Oh got one more crack at it right? Yes? What was the name of the original lead guitarist of the Eagles, Don Felder or Bernie Leaden Don Felder? Oh, Bernie started seventy one, Don in seventy five? Oh, Gary, Oh, I don't want to tell you, I started strong
man. You couldn't. Yeah, it's not how you thought, it's how you fish. That's right, that's what I say. Yeah, I appreciate it anyway, Gary, thank you for listening down there south of the border. But we got to let you go, all right. You have a good day. Thanks again, you too, my friend. I'm glad he didn't have to use the dump button, know because he sounded a little you know, to kidding. Here it's Kenny Young, Heather Ford, Pete McKenzie, Free
TV, The Greatest roast ever, Tom Brady's Roast Netflix. I guess that's not free because you have to pay for Netflix, but most people have it eight eight pm on Sunday. The groat the greatest roast of all time is the acronym. I think we were all wondering who might be there. We know Kevin Hart is hosting it, and you know, we knew Edelman and Gronk would be there, but I know Belichick would go there. Yeah,
that was news to me. I mean, you know, there's some they spend a lot of quality time alone together, So hopefully Belichick digs into that a little bit, you know, that office time between head coach and quarterback.
Maybe we can get some gems out of that. The other thing I noticed was, and I retweeted at Drake may his first few days as a Patriot have been consolidated into a video and put out on Patriots dot Com, having him whist off on a private jet to Jillette Stadium and meeting up with Mayo and seeing his lock craft and craft and his jersey will be number ten apparently to just may maybe have some Pats fans. All those Matt Jones jersey
buyers just repurpose it. They've already done it. Pictures that just put May on the back of it. Yeah. And I noticed too, Zekiel Elliott, who the Patriots picked up last year. Star running back for the Cowboys for several years, and the Patriots had him last year. Do you know he led I didn't know this. He led the New England Patriots in one offensive category. Would you believe that? Would it be receptions? It would be the number of receptions? Yes, whoa look at that? Look at
that? Yeah, because Mac Jones couldn't throw the ball down field, He'd dink and dunk. Oh, god is jackdowns. He had fifty one catches and led the team fifty one. That was the most catches by any receiver. Yes. Wow, hopefully I have a wide receiver this year that has
more last season. Yeah, right exactly. I saw a pretty interesting stat too about the draft, and it said that from the years twenty fourteen to twenty twenty three, Bill Belichick had only taken I think two wide receivers in that time frame, or maybe it was five wide receivers in the first five or and something like that. Gerrod Mayo and Elliott Wolf took two wide receivers in the first five rounds this draft alone, right, Yeah. And that
Javon Baker guy that they took I think in the sixth round. He was the guy. Yes, we played the audio yesterday, Kenny, he said, bring your popcorn. I make people in wheelchairs stand. I'm Mary Patriot. Like of that. You like the enthusiasm. But the other potential steal in the draft. And again, like I said before last week's draft, I know nothing about college players. I admit it every year. But the one ninety third pick in the draft, did you see who else the Pats
picked up? Who wasn't Bazuoka Joe? Oh yeah, Joe Milton the quarterback they took in the sixth round, not far from Brady's pick at one ninety nine instantly, But yeah, Bazuoka Joe is named. Just google him and you'll see what some call the strongest arm in college football. He had the audio of him throwing an orange one hundred yards Oh yeah, yeah, across the entire field, hit the wall. I missed yesterday. That's our guy Oranges Bazooka Joe. A lot of people were talking about what a nice pickup
that was. Yeah, you know, mister may not pan out right. I mean, he's he's got the skills, he's got the size, he's got the mobility, he's got the arm, and he doesn't want to play tight end right because that was speculated too by some of the analysts though they'd move him over to another pick. He said, no way, Yeah, he's not going to do that. Well, one thing is for sure, all those draft picks picked up a little coin over the weekend. Pick up
some of your own. We just had our first one thousand dollars bribe of the day. There'll be twelve more today right through nine ten pm. So your next shot at the Grand in the thousand dollars coming up at ten ten with con Boston's Only a Classic Rock Morning Show one hundred point seven WZLX nine forty eight's Kenny Young, Heatherford and Pete McKenzie. Who couldn't wait for that band to come on because he isn't blazoned across his chest a Nirvana T shirt
today. Yes, that I picked up at Target not too long ago. It's I got a real fan unless you got it a a show man. It's my first Grudge rock t shirt. I still enjoy the Target purchase you made of that sixty six Ford Broncos. They have some creative teas. It's a nice shirt. I wear it proudly, you know, you know as an owner. Now I have to represent Kristin Wigill tell you Target's a great place to target. I got a sure to arrive except for Bobby that says,
get in loser. We're all going to die of dysentery. And it's just the picture of the wagon from What's the game? We're all going to die? The Oregon trade. It's a great shirt. I'm back to your Nirvana. You can take this home and share it at dinner tonight with your significant other. A little Nirvana fun fact. It was on this date, this very day, April the thirtieth, nineteen ninety one, Nirvana officially signs their first recording contractor with the major label, Geffen's DGC label. Uh they
got an estimated two hundred and ninety grand to sign that deal. Now, when they did finally finish up never Mind and release that just before it really blew up and became the global phenomenon that it is and was at the time. Nirvana very famously took some of that record company signing money and they threw this huge record release party. Do you every hear the story about what went down there? I'm not sure I did the thing. I have, but
I don't remember. I don't know if this is food fight or something different. That's exactly what it was. They started a food fight at their own record label release party and they got kicked out of their own record release party. I'm wearing the shirt tonight at dinner, we'll have a food fight. Oh, just your wife, yeah, and then it all. Then the wife's gonna say, great, Pete. Now you have to get the mashed potatoes off the ceiling fan, right, So you'll be busy doing that tonight.
