Hello, when welcome to Boost your Brain Power. I'm your host, doctor Eric Chaplin. We're going to talk about natural and holistic ways to improve your brain function without drugs, medication, or surgery. We help lots of different nations around the world. They might have ADD or ADHD. I had a few patients today with ADD and one of the parents asked me, if a functional neurology is so successful and improving the brain function in children with developmental delays, then how come

all doctors don't suggest this. And the truth is it's the school system. It's the education in the medical schools. So the education and the medical schools are all about surgery and medication. Right, So, if you have ADD they're gonna give you Riddly, that's the drug that goes with ADD. Have depression, they're gonna give you Alexi problem. We have anxiety, They're gonna give you an annex. So you're just getting

a pill that goes on with your symptom. So what if instead of treating the symptoms, you got to the root cause of the problem. It's always better to get to the root cause of the problem, and it could be pretty simple. Sometimes it's simply diet. So a lot of children with add or ADHD have a lot of food dye. Get rid of those food dyes, red food dyed, yellow food dye, the blue food dye. Look at the

ingredients of the food that your children are eating. Look in cereals, look at desserts, and a lot of these foods have food dye. These food dyes are so toxic that they're banned in other countries. America, unfortunately, let's a lot of these bad chemicals in our foods. You have one of the unhealthiest foods in the whole world. It's better to have food from a third world country than America because there there's no chemicals, pesticize, herbicize. Everything's natural,

it's real, it's authentic. They've been using the same seeds forever. In America. We use a lot of new seeds, genetically modified organisms. They spray all the weed in the corn and the soy with g life of state around up which has been proving to cause cancer, which also causes add ADHD, which also causes allergies, which also causes automu disease. Right, I don't think any of you want that. Stop eating foods with Calliope's sake, stop eating food dies, stop eating

foods with preservatives that. How do you do that? The easiest way is to not eat things in boxes and camarenes and begs. One ingredient food. If you're eating these foods in boxes or bags, you look at ingredients, there's twenty ingredients. Probably not healthy. Especially you don't even recognize some of the words. If you can't even pronounce them, especially if there are a color or a number, it's

not a real ingredient. So people one ingredient foods. Another thing that is important with add or ADHD is movement. The worst thing is is to just sit down all day. That is no good. Your brain gets worse the more you sit. Sitting is the new smoking. So I recommend the twenty rule. I mean twenty minutes, you get up for twenty seconds, you walk twenty feet, you look twenty feet away. Just move the body. I don't care if it's jumping jacks. I don't care if you do twenty pushups,

twenty sit ups, twenty lunges, twenty squads. Just move your body for twenty minutes, sorry, for twenty seconds every twenty minutes. So sitting will literally kill your brain, will literally ruin your posture, will mess up your energy, focus, your memory. You gotta take lots of bricks, small bricks, twenty seconds, but that will make a huge difference. If you just did those three things, that'll change your life. No more food dies, no more goalightic to say or around out.

And the twenty year rule. Every twenty minutes, you get up for twenty seconds, you look twenty feet, you impove your body, you walk twenty feet, and then you could sit back down. If you add ADD or ADHD, that will change your life. Just those three things. But guess what, Let's do more. Let's avoid the stimulants, especially if you have ADHD, which is hyperactivity. Keep moving, tapping your pen cel, shaking your leg, change your positions. Right. So ADD is

where you just have lack of focus. ADHD is where you have the lack of focus, but you're also hyperactive. That's why movement breaks are so important. Children need to move. The worst thing is just sitting in a chair all day doing nothing. You're not moving your body gets irritated, your brain doesn't function properly. So if you're a teacher listening to this, make sure you give your kids movement breaks. Every kid, not just kid with ADD or ADHD. We

all need movement breaks. If you're an adult, you need movement breaks. Everybody needs a movement breaks every twenty minutes. Start incorporating that into your daily lifestyle. It will change your life. Super important for ADHD and ADD. Now, what a lot of people find interesting is that many people with ADD when they find something that they really like, they can become hyper focused. So they might be able to sit hours at a time playing a video name

or watching YouTube videos. So they could focus on things that they like. But can you focus on things that you don't enjoy? Can you resist the urge? Can you not get distracted easily? Can you focus better? Can you have good concentration when it is a subject that you're not passionate about, that you don't necessarily like, that you're not excited about. If you could do that, then your brain is truly functioning at a high level. It's a

lot easier to focus on things that you like. But can you focus on things that you don't like, we have a very low attention span these days. They measured it. You know, twenty years ago the attended span was about seven seconds. Now if it's only about five seconds. So every decade it goes down a little bit, and we're getting more kids diagnosed with add more kids being dosed diagnosed with any dh doom. Autism is going through the roof. Autism used to be one out of every twenty ten

thousand people. Now it's close to one a be thirty six. That basically means at least one kid in every class has autism. What it used to be like one kid in you know, the whole town would have autism. Now it's one child in every class. Now one out of every three kids is on medicine. How insane is that? Why do we have all these children on medicine, especially when their brains are developed. You give these children drugs as their brain developed, that could become a major problem

and it could cause permanent damage. You don't want to give kids drugs as their brain develops. Very dangerous. And I know the teachers sometimes like when the children on medication because they're not disrupted in class. And if they're disrupted in class, then they might be, you know, preventing other children from performing at optimal levels. But imagine a world where we could get your children better. From add ADHD, autism,

aspergers to rats OCD, chemical sense activities. Imagine if we can heal these children without drawings and without medication in a natural and holistic way so that they function better, feel better, and live a better one. Now, what are natural ways that we can help people with developmental delays such as A and d ADHD Tourette's autism. How can we help people's brains develop properly? Well, it occurs in three steps. Unfortunately, the way most people do it is in the reverse order. And what do

I mean by that? Many of these people with childhood developmental delays will get occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, congive behavioral therapy. Now, the problem is that's the last step, and it's hard to accomplish your goals during those therapy without taking care of the first two steps of proper brain development. When I have a child or an adult with developmental delays such as AD or a d ah STEAM, the first thing that I like to check what's called

primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are reflexes that are supposed to disappear after one year of age. If you still have these primitive reflexes and you're older than one, you're two years old and you still have it, that's not good. If you're spiders old and you still have it, that's deadly not good. If you're ten years old and still have it, that's really bad. And if you are over eighteen and still have it, this is really bad and we must take action immediately. But even with children, you

must take action. Don't play the waiting game. A lot of doctors just say, Okay, let's just wait it out and maybe a brain will develop. No, you've got to take action. The longer you weigh the worst. And we have a lot of developmental delays caused by our own government and all these social isolation school cloth clothings, clothings and stuff like that. It's all these COVID lockdown rules has actually caused more brain delays in our It's they're years behind now and there's no catch to know. So

we have to take action to our own hands. We're gonna use a process called neural plan pasticity, where we bewired the bringing to make it stronger. Now having known which areas need to be rewired, which areas need to get stronger, stick around for the end of the show and I'll sharing some secrets on how to do that. But there are many ways to help with childs of developmental delays, but it has to be done in the proper order in the three step process. The first step

of the three set process is called primitive reflexes. So these reflexes, as we said before, after one year of age should be gone, but in a child with developmental delays, they will still have these primitive reflexes. One of them is called the Abinski response. And when we rub the bottom of foot, the big toe goes up. That should be gone after one year of age. When the palm ofgrass, when we brought the palm of the hand, the thumb kind of moves a little bit curl in. We're spital

go ould. When we rub along the side of the spot and we get a little twitch to the side. There's lots of these primitive reflexes, but they must be remediated first before you do any other therapy, or else the brain will not develop properly. So the first stage is primitive reflex with mediation exercise. But we must do a full buological exam to figure out how du you have these primitive bean flexes. And as I said before, I stick around for the end of the show and

I'll tell you how to do that. All right, So after primitive reflex reviation exercise, it's step one comes step two. Step two is motor and sensory input. And this might be certain lots sounds, smell, touches, peddies, balance, coordination, taking action, motor which is movement, and sensory which is feeling. We each motor exercises and sensory exercises that is Part two. Might be some eye exercises, might be some blame litle mans, might be some balance or breathing exercises. So there's lots

of different motor and sensory modalities. So for one, famili flags for mediation exercise, Part two motor and sensory types of therapeutic bloin exercises. Then part three that's the behavioral, the cognitive, the speech, the occupation of the physical therapy. That's the third part. That third part will not function properly until you remdiate a primitive brief flexis part one. And then balance out the brain using motor and sensoring modalities Part two. If you do it in the proper order,

now your brain will catch up to development. Now your child's braining start to focus. Bet, they'll have better eye contac I won't get distracted as much. They'll be more motivating, they'll be better organization, concentration, planning, social behavior, understanding consequences of actions. Will improve all of their executive functions. Now, when people's brains don't function have optimal levels, that can even lead to mood disorders, and I might get depression anxiety.

We see a lot of depression and anxiety these days, even in the younger generation. We see a lot of drug abuse, alcohol abuse, suicidal thoughts, a lot of people on antidepressants, anti anxiety pills and examics and sleeping pill all these drugs. Don't need all the drugs. The power that made the body heals the body sometimes and she does need to take some action. And that's what I teach you how to do, is take action so you can heal your own brain. The brain's like a muscle.

You use it or you lose it. If you take medication such as game anxiety pills or a E. D pills or antidepressants, they're in a dead in your brain. Sometimes people become like a Zobbie will describe it and then lose joy, happiness and love and the passion for lotie. With taking a drug, you always got to measure the risk burst of a war. Is it worth it? Is it worth taking this pill? So you could sit still

in your seat for eight hours school day? But the consequence is that you're depressed, You have low motivation, you don't find joy in life, you don't lamp as much, you don't have the passion to hang out with your friends, or the motivation to work hard. It just keeps you from getting distracted, keeps you focused. But is that the real you? Wouldn't it be better take a move bit break. Wouldn't it be better to actually rewire your brain so

you don't need any pills. It's called neuroplasticity. And there are lots of brain exercises you could do to increase your focus and concentration. One of the easiest ones that everybody can do are called no no and yes yes exercise. So for this, you just want to put a dot on the wall. And I used to post a note you want to eye level arm's length away, and we look at the dot and slowly turn your head right and left, not too far, not too fast. That's key,

not too far and too fast. Look at the dot and turn your head slowly right and left ten times. Then you're gonna slowly lift up your head up and down while looking at the same dot ten times. So when you go left right, I said no, no, because it's like you're saying no. And when you go up and down that's called a yes yes, because it's like you're saying yes. That is a concentration exercise, and the concentration exercise is to keep your eyes focused on the dot.

If while turning your head the eye loses the target, then you do not perform properly. Then that doesn't count as one of the ten. You gotta start over. I do ten in a row, but again very slowty, not too far, keep it simple, and no nose at ten yes yes's three times a day. Another good exercise you try to sit home right now, is to take your left leg draw clockwise circles over and over and over without stopping, and at the same time, with your left

hand draw big number six in the air. So you draw clockwise circles in the air with your left leg, and then draw big number six in the air with your left arm, and try that for thirty seconds, three times a day, so you got almost right. Now, you got your no, no, yes, yes, and then you got your clockwise circle with the left leg and then number six with the left hand. These exercises really have focus, so you gotta think they'll make your brain stronger. You

use it or you lose it. So don't sit around waiting for some doctor with some magic pail or herb to cure your brain. You gotta take action. You're going to rewind your brain through a process called neuroplasticity to create more connections in a natural and holistic way. So you don't need drugs, surgery, you don't need electrical shock therapy, you don't need a lobotomy, you don't need any supplements.

A better life. This is doctor eric Aplan in your listening to boost your brain power. Now, there are lots of issues in the brain that can affect your mood. A lot of our patients get anxiety or depression. Troubles with memory focus very common. If you have depression. The most important thing is progression. If you have depression, focus

on progression. Progression in your health, maybe progression in the food you eat, how much water you drink, how much sleep you get, how much sunlight you get, how much you walk, how much you lift, how much you can stretch. Make progression in your health, even if it's just one percent a day. The key to depression is progression. Make progression in your relationships. Start making more social activities experiences. Stop staying at home watching TV or scrolling on your computer.

Go out, take action and build your relationships with your friends, your family, your loved ones, your co workers, people in your church, people in your neighborhood. Build good relations have connections with people. The worst thing is isolation. So when you're depressed, you got to take action. You got to make progression. You got to get outside the house and do stuff with your loved ones. And if you don't have any friends, make new friends, join some meetups, enter

a club, learn a new gil, take a class. There's so many things that you can be social acted all right, So very important for depression is progression. Aggress in your charity, how much you give, how much you help others. Aggress in your spirituality you pray, how much you go to church or to the synagogue, to tempo, follow the rules of your religion doesn't have to do with a god. I practice a lot of different things Stoicism. One of

the best books is of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius Buddhism. Right, you know, I grew up Jewish, but I married a woman who's Christian, and my brother in law married a Muslim. Like I said, we're exposed to everything, whether it's Judaism, Christianity, muslim him do Buddhists Like I said, I practiced Stoicism. You know, do something that's gonna make you a better person. But make progression here the depression is progression in every

aspect in your intellect. Read more books, study more, taking more classes, money and make more money, invest your business, get a promotion, or build more of your own business. Make progression in every aspect of your life. I don't care whether you're drinking more water, getting more I'm like, or going to bed a little bit earlier, or scrobbling less on Facebook. Make some progression. You stop using your earbuds.

Those are the worse thing for your health. And there's so many things that your doctor doesn't tell you that's making you sick, such as those air pods or seed oils. Stay away from seed oils. The only oils you should eat are olive oil and coconut oil. The only oil you should cook with is avocado oil. That's it. Stay away from all other oils. Wi Fi Wi Fi is horrible. Turn off your Wi Fi. You're talking on the phone and your Wi Fi is on, You're radiating your brain.

You're putting your Wi Fi computer on your lap. That is scary. Turn off the Wi Fi night. You don't need it. And we don't know about these five G towers, how much radiation it is. You don't have to being these micro the wave ovens. Don't microwave. That's radiation awesome. There's no need to use a microwave oven. You can use a toaster oven and then you can toast things and bake things, can boil things, and it's basically just as

quick as a microwave. The blue light at night, blue light comes from all the screens, so once the sun goes down, you shouldn't have any blue light. The sun right gives us this blue light, but once the sun goes down, I feel blue light. Your eyes are saying stay up, and it's gonna interrupt your sleep. It's gonna affect your energy. You got to get up to p No TV, no computer, no iPhone, no idad at night. If you have to use it for work, for your livelihood,

get blue light filter glasses. Plastics are everyday stuff that affect your health. Those are endocrine disruptors. Plastics are toxic. We don't need all these plastic water bottles. Just get a filter. You don't need to store your food and plastics. Store it in glass or stainless steel. Stop using all these plastics. If thought process is very important, you don't want to have negative thoughts, and you don't want to

be around people who have negative thoughts. If you have negative thoughts or negative rumination, you're always gonna see the battering things. Start looking for the good in things. I don't care if ninety eight out of one hundred things are bad. Focus on the two things that are good, because what's gonna happen as soon there's gonna be three things that are good, and then there's gonna be four, and then ten and twenty, and all of a sudden,

there's more good things than bad things. When you focus your energy on the good things. I'd always like Tony Robbins. Read his books, Go to his seminars, and he does this whole thing where you know, you look in the room. He goes looking at everything that's blue in the room and look for all the blue, and everyone's looking the blue to the blue, the blue, the blue. And at the end and he goes, all right, tell me what was red? And you can't think of anything because you

were focused all on the blue. And the point of that expar man that if all you're looking for is blue, that's all you're going to see. If all you're looking for is the negative things, that's what you're gonna see. But if you look for the positive things and look and look and look for those positive things, that's what you're gonna see. So I do these little exercise with my patients because sometimes patients come to me and they're very negative. And then I say, tell me five good

things about your health. They can't do it. They can't think of anything. And then I said they couldn't think about anything. I said, can you walk? Said? Yeah, So you know how many patients come to me that can't walk, but they're in a wheelchair. Some don't even have legs. Are they? Walker said, you walked in this office without a king Walker? Out a wheelchair. You got both your legs right. So how many people are grateful every day that they could walk? You have to be grateful for

that you can walk. Be grateful that you can see or you can hear, where you can eat, where you can poop or pee. I have many patients with catheters, and many patients that need them bag for their poop because their butt is sewed together. The patience that even diaper is they can't control it. Are you thankful every day that you're not wearing a diaper? Be thankful every day that you can use your hands. Thankful every day your heart is beating on its own. Be thankful for

the things that you do have. If you're working lungs, a working bladder. Don't focus on the negative aspects of your health. Even if you add five or six bad things, that means you have ten thousand good things. Some net bit of thoughts will make you function at a worse level. And not only do you want to be positive, you want to be around positive people so you function better, feel better, and lick a better life.

The more stressed you are, the worse your health is. Stress is the silent killer. More people yet heart attacks at strokes. Monday morning and any other tire because there I want to go back to work. The worst phrase in the world is thank God it's Friday. I hope you're not saying that. If you're saying that,

that means you're not happy with your life. That means you don't like Monday through Friday. Why are you going to go through your whole life in a place that makes you miserable. You need to say thank God it's Monday. That means you're excited about life and you love what you do. Make sure you're helping people, contributing to society or contributing to at least one person, making a difference in somebody's life. That's a rewarding job. Right. They're contributing

to somebody or something, some group. Right. How are you helping the world? That will improve your mood if you're thankful for what you can do? Right, So we said, you gotta be thankful for your health. Thankful that you lived in America. Right if you lived in now the Middle East, you lived in uh, you know, North Korea, China, Russia, someplace in Africa where there's lots of wars. I can't imagine you lived in a place like Venezuela where you can't even get food to eat? Are you won the

lottery just by being in America? If you turn on the TV, you know, it makes America sound like a horrible place. Where else do you want to be? Even though I think we're unhealthy's country, We're very corrupt. I don't believe our politicians. There's lots of crime, right, and still not rather be any other place. You know, we're the least racist country in the whole world. You turn on the news, you think we're the most racist country

in the whole world. And you know, I know, look at the Olympics, we were the most diverse country by far. Every other country it was just like one race that was it. In America we were diverse, right, So be thankful for your health or where you liveka. Our homeless is pretty good. They can get food, they can get phones, they can get living corridors. Right. You know. The part that's the saddest, in my opinion, is the veterans. Right.

We have this huge military budget, ridiculous trillions whatever it is, and you can't take care of veterans after they come back to the country. With that military budget, a lot you can use those resources to take care of our veterans, to risk their lives for this government that doesn't care about them. I think that's the saddest thing. And how many of our veterans are the homeless people? Right, it's tough to come back from more you have post traumatic

post traumatic stress syndrome. Did a lot of patients with that and their severings eyes. So the key for depression was progression. The key for anxiety is distraction. Gotta distract yourself right, start thinking about the thinking about when you got raved thinking about the future, great anxiety. You get depression when you think about the past, and you get anxiety when you think about the future. But you've got

to live in the moment, not just mindfulness. So for anxiety, distraction, if you got start thinking about something really, bet leave the room, go outside, I take a walk, get some sun, like reading, some air, drink some water, get some exercise, do suth leave, don't try folk yourself. Oh it's gonna be okay, I think fine. So the key for anxiety is distraction. The key for improving your memory, it's not you have to do new thing. The brain loves new things.

So if you want to improve your memory, do something new every step. Now, how do you know if you have depression, anxiety, troubles with memory or do you have AD and D you have troubles with focus? Do you get distract in what you should do? It's called a q eging brain mapping. This is a great neurological test that has no radiation. It's not like a cat scanner headskin, It's not like an MRI I. We can take this contrast fluid. You know, to sit in some small tube.

All you do is wear this cap at. It's got electrodes attached to it that measures your brain weaves, your palpha, beta beta delta. It messes all your different brain waves and based on the location of the abnormal brain wings, it can literally tell us, Hey, do you have anxiety? Do you have depression? Do you have memory problems? Do you have insomnia? Do you have sleep deprivation? Do you have long dopamine? Is your mitochondria messed up? Do you

have low CEO colin? You have a thyroid problem, you have intestinal inflammation? Do you have difficulty with concentration, shifting tasts? Do you have working memory and long term memory? Short term memory? Do you have troubles with balance, you have headaches, dizzyness, it all picks this up. Having metal poisoning concussion, so this brain mapping picks us all up. Now, there's another test called a VNG

video mistography. This is where you wear goggles that have infrared cameras in there and they measure eye movements while you're following this rend light laser and the eye movements are fast, they're swallowing up and down at light and dark and with head movements, and it can actually measure any imbalances of the left brain and the right brain.

So if you have ADD or ADHD, or dyslexia or to reds, or autism or aspergers or troublesome memory and focus and concentration, there's usually an ilence of your brain. The VNG will pick it up and say which areas

are underactive and which areas are overactive.
