A lot of people ask me what can they do at home if they have a problem and they won't want to go to the doctor, they don't want to take
medicine. Well, that's what we do here at Kaplan Brain Embody. We try and teach you things you could do at home to prevent future problems and also help current problems without the use of harmful medications, drugs, risky surgeries. We want to do it in a natural, holistic, and integrative way. For example, what's the best thing to do if you have depression, Well, the best thing to do is increase vitamin D levels. And you get vitamin D from the sun. So you gotta get outside into the sun.
Go during sunrise, go during sun set. Go out during the middle of the day from twelve to two where the sun is strongest and take off your hat, take off your glasses, roll up your sleeves. Get exposure to the sun. That will increase vitamin D and decrease depression. If you're unable to go outside, you can also supplement with vitamin D, especially in the winter. Now it's almost falls approaching, the winter is going to be
coming. People get what's called seasonal affect disorder said, Seasonal affect disorder SAD because during the winter there's less sunlight and they get depressed. So the key to depression is sunlight. And if you can combine it with exercise, meaning go outside exercise, and if you can even combine it with social exercise, maybe playing basketball or soccer or tennis with your friends, doing a yoga class, taking a dance class outside, playing some volleyball, pickle ball, everyone's
playing. Now, do something social outside in the sun, and that is a natural way to decrease depression. It's always about vitamin D. So much research has showed vitamin D is just as effective, if not more effective, than current antidepressant medications that are prescribed by psychiatrists every single day. And the past few years, depression has increased. It's increased because of isolation due to COVID, lack of exercise, lack of sunlight. Everyone's sold to stay in,
stay away from the virus, stay inside, don't go out. Well, guess what. You decrease vitamin D and you increase depression, you increase suicides, you increase alcohol and drug abuse. If we want to get rid of depression, you gotta go outside. You gotta get in the sun, you gotta exercise, you gotta be social. That's natural ways to decrease depression. You could do it on your own. You just have to commit, you have to put the work in. All right. I'm not the doctor
that prescribes antidepressants. We try to get to the root cause of the problem. Don't treat symptoms with medications because sometimes those antidepressants can have harmful side effects. Sometimes the side effects are depressed. Sometimes the side effects are suicidal thoughts. Sometimes the side effects are violent tendencies. A lot of these school shootings they're on medication. They're on these psychotropic drugs, are on antidepressants, anti
anxiety pills, ADD pills ADHD. They're on these pills that make them think differently and they become violent. And there's lots of antidepressants that cause suicides. You've got to be careful right now. We got to figure out what's appropriate for you. But I can tell you this It can only help if you get some sunlight, if you get some exercise, and see if you'd be more social. It can only help get rid of depression. And that's what we want to do. We want to get to the root cause of it,
not treat it with pills, but boost your own brain power. Now, what if you have anxiety. Anxiety is the opposite of depression, right, So depression is low energy. You don't want to leave the house, you don't want to speak to anyone, you don't want to shower, you don't want to shave, you don't want to brush your teeth, you don't want to answer your phone, you don't want to leave the house, low motivation, low energy. That's depression. Anxiety, Oh, that's worry.
Might have trouble sleeping. You might have some anger, You might have some aggression. You might get some panic. You might have difficulty with focus because your brain is going a million miles per hour. You might have difficult with sleep because your brain doesn't shut off. That's anxiety. Something anxiety. Eight. We gotta calm down the nervous system. We gotta relax the nervous system. One way to relax the nervous system is through activation of your vagus nerve.
We could do that through gargling. Gargling really intensely stimulates the vagus nerve. Might want to splash your face with cold water. You're overheated. We gotta cool you down. Splash your face with cold water for thirty seconds, three times a day. Gargle for thirty seconds three times a day. That will help with anxiety. We got to relax the nervous system. Do some breathing exercises. Inhale for four seconds, hold it for seven seconds, and
exhale for eight seconds. The longer you exhale, the more your brain relaxes. The inhale increases your heart rate. The exhale deep creases your heart rate. So you want to relax more. You want to exhale more. Inhale for four seconds, hold it for seven seconds, exhale for eight seconds. When you inhale, push your belly down and out like you're a pregnant woman. Push that diaphragm down so you can increase your oxygen levels. On the
exhale, everything comes in. Push out the carbon dioxide. Give it to all the plants and the leaves and the trees and the bushes and the shrubs. When I do my breathing exercises every morning outside in the sun, as it rises, I exhale. I'm imagining giving all the energy, all the fuel delivery to the trees that surround me, to my grass, to my plants, to my bushes, to my vegetables, to everything around me.
Not only are you getting rid of your carbon dioxide to increase the function of your brain, but you're giving that carbon dioxide to the plants and the vegetables and the fruits that need it to grow and thrive. It's a symbiotic relationship. The plants and the trees give us oxygen and we give them carbon dioxide. That is a great way to reduce anxiety. Right now, what if
you have a problem with Parkinson's disease. With Parkinson's disease, the way to prevent falls, which is the biggest problem with Parkinson's ease, are false. So we're gonna do fall prevention our little gate and balance exercise. Now, people who have Parkinson's have a decreased arm swing, usually on one side, but it could be on both. That's one of the early signs of Parkinson's
disease. So when I'm analyzing brains. I look at their arms swing, and if their arm doesn't swing properly, they might be more prone to Parkinson's. If they have poor sense of smell, they might be prone to Parkinson's. If they have shoulder pain, they might be prone to Parkinson's. If they have constipation, they might be prone to Parkinson's. If they have loss of facial expression or what it's called facial masking, they might have more likelihood
to develop Parkinson's. Now, if we put this all together, where they have what's called a camp to cormia where they're hunched forward, they have some facial masking, shoulder pain, loss of smell, lack of arms swing, constipation, they were to walker as a kid, they're more likely to get Parkinson's before a tremor even starts. Now, if this is the case, we have to fix the brain early on. One of the best exercises that's
super easy. It's called the exaggerated arm walk, where you just pick a hallway and you walk down the hallway and do big exaggerated arm walks where your arm is just going up to the ceiling and swinging big time up and down and just exaggerated arm swings as you walk. Then another good exercise is the crosscrawl exercise. That's where you're tapping your opposite legs or like marching in place, but you tap your right hand to your left leg and your left hand
to your right leg. Those would be the two best exercise for Parkinson's or pre Parkinsonian conditions. There, the exaggerated arm walk and the crosscrawl exercise. That's the two things I would start doing immediately. Now, what if you have MS multiple sclerosis. That's an autoimmune disease that attacks the brain. If you have an autoimmune disease that attacks the brain, then you have to fix
the brain. Plus autoimmune disease autoimmune disease. Then there's lots of autoimmune disease, silliac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, show grins, lupus, fibromyalgia. These are all autoimmune diseases, IBS, Hashimoto's Graves disease. There's lots of autoimmune diseases and they all need to be fixed internally through avoiding the autoimmune foods, which are number one dairy, number two gluten, number three soy,
number four corn, number five coffee, and number six alcohol. Those are the top six autoimmune diseases that you would need to avoid and eliminate to reverse autoimmune disease, not just MS, but all the other autoimmune diseases as well. With MS, that's an autoimmune disease that attacks the milin sheath of
the nerves, which is covered in fat. So not only do you want to avoid the foods that attack the milin sheath, but you also want to increase fat, healthy fat such as olives, walnuts, coconut oil, fish, healthy fat, flax seeds, healthy fat, avocado. All right, that's the best thing for MS multiple sclerosis. Plus you would have to do functional neurology to rehab the brain through pusless called neurop elasticity. I'm your host, doctor Eric Kaplan. We're going over natural ways to help with certain neurological disorders such as depression, anxiety, parkins sins, multiple sclerosis. The next condition we're going to discuss is
autism. Autism used to occur in one out of every ten thousand people, then it became one out of every five thousand. This is all in my lifetime and I'm only forty five years old. Then it became one out of a thousand, then it became one out of five hundred. Now it's at the point where it's basically one out of every twenty six boys is diagnosed with autism. That's basically one kid per classroom. Almost every classroom has an autistic child in there. It is an epidemic. It is increasing, and we
have to come up ways to stop it. Now there's many different theories of why autism numbers are increasing. Some people think it's because of the diagnostics that have changed, meaning the you know, way they diagnose has become a lot easier. They're just getting more and more people diagnosed with autism. But now it's pretty obvious that there are developmental delays that occurring in the current child population
that was not occurring previously. Their brains are not developing properly. There's lots of developmental delays. And it's not just autism. It's aspergers, it's dyslexia, it is add it's ADHD, it's tourettes. These are all childhood developmental delays. They're just different types of labels. But what's happening is the brain isn't developing properly. So with autism and these other developmental delays, you'll get
retained primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are reflexes that are supposed to be eliminating after one year of age. Now, when you go to the doctor and they tap your knee and your knee kicks out, that's called a patellar reflex that is supposed to happen. That is a normal finding in a physical evaluation.
However, with autism and other developmental delays, they'll be certain reflexes they're called primitive reflexes that are still testing positive when they should not test positive after the brain has developed one year of age or older. For example, there is a primitive reflex that when you rub the bottom of the foot, the big toe goes up. That's called a Babinski reflex. That's called a Babinsky reflex. After one year of age, the Babinski reflex should no longer respond to
a stimulation rubbing the bottom of the foot. However, with certain neurologic conditions such as autism or even Parkinson's like we spoke about before, the big toe will go up. That's called a positive Babinski sign. We do not want to see that in a four year old child. We don't want to see what's called a spinal gallant reflex, which is where we rub the back and
you get it like a little twitch. We see that positive over one year of age, when children are still wetting their bed many times because their brains not fully developed. So if you're worried about a child with autism or add or ADHD or Turette's or dyslexia, we have to check the primitive reflexes. That's super important. If you wait till the end of the show, I'm going to give you guys a special where you can get these primitive reflexes checked,
except to wait till the end and we'll go over that. So with autism and other developmental delays, there's remediation exercises you could do to eliminate these
primitive reflexes, but we got to check which primitive reflexes are there. For example, if you test positive for that spinal galant primitive reflex, you can do a remediation exercise what we call the snow angel exercise, sort of like snow angels, but you're on the ground on the carpet, legs are opening, the arms are going in sync thirty seconds, three times a day, over and over and over again, and eventually we can eliminate the spinal galant
primitive reflex. Now the brain can catch up the development. Now we can work on certain motor and sensory aspects and autism. That's the second phase when working naturally with autism. The first phase is eliminating the primitive reflexes, the second phase is activating motor and sensory pathways. And the third phase, which can't be done until the first two are done, is behavioral is speech,
is physical, is developmental. But what most people do with autism is phase three first where they have interventions at school for speech pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy. But if you're doing phase three before phase one and two are done, it won't work. That's why you have to do phase one phase two first with autism. Then you could do speech pathology, then you could
do occupational therapy, and then you could do physical therapy behavioral modification. But you have to do phase one primitive reflexes first, and then phase two, which is the motor and sensory development of the brain. Those are the natural ways to help with autism. Now make sure if you are ready have a childhood autism, to get rid of all the chemicals. The chemicals are the worst thing. Food dies, preservatives, all those autoimmune foods. We spoke
about anything in packages and boxes and cereals and cans and bags. We have to stay away from all that processed food, all the chemicals, all the pesticides, the herbicides, the cleaning stuff, the lotions. You gotta be careful with the shampoos and the toothpaste, and the pots and the pans and the plastics. We got to get rid of toxic chemicals. If you want to help fix the brain, if you want to help develop the brain, if you want to help with neuroplasticity and autism, there are natural ways to
improve the brain. But you've got to do the work right. The brain can heal through neuroplasts, it can rewire, but we have to strengthen it through neurologic exercises. That is for autism. Now, what if you have headaches. We see a lot of people with headaches. There's different types of headaches. There's migraine headaches, there's cluster headaches, there's tension headaches. There's stress headaches, there's sinus headaches, there's tension headaches. There's a lot of
different types of headaches. Now, if you have a tension headache, that's usually a headache which is like a band around the head, that's usually due to stress mode. Might have increased blood pressure, so you might have to relax your nervous system, might have to reduce your stress. Then you've got a tension headache. That's when the muscles of the back and the neck are pulling on the head. You might need to do some physical therapy. You
might need to do some manipulation of the bones. You might need to work on your posture and decrease your electronic exposure and improve your computer screen where it is and how you read and how you text. That's a cervicogenicer a stress headache. Then you might have a migraine headache. That's usually a sharp pain behind the eye. Might get some light sensitivity, some nausea. We have this cool technique. There's only about fifty people in the whole world that do
this insulfation technique where I pump air into the ear. People come up with a migraine ten out of ten and we literally get rid of the migraine on the spot ten out of ten and in one minute by pumping air into the ear, we get rid of it. Now, it doesn't prevent headaches, doesn't prevent them, but what it does do instead of preventing them, it treats them in the moment. To prevent the migraine, we got to get
a root cause. But you're not getting blood and oxygen. Anytime you have a headache, you're not getting the blood flow and oxygen, so we got to do an evaluation to figure out where that's coming from. As well, you might get a sinus headache, so we have this little instrument that we tap on this four sinus points above your eyes next to your nose, and that gets rid of the sinus headaches. Then we might have to do this sinus massage. You might have to do some homeopathic allergy remedies. But the
good news is there's always natural ways to improve your brain function. There's always ways to heal. But if you want to do it the natural way, then you got to put in the work. You might have to increase your water intake. You're supposed to drink half your body weight anounces, and you want to mineralize it with pink Himalayan salt, so that's the best way to drink water. And you want to drink on an empty stomach. That's another

Welcome back to boost your brain power. I'm your host, doctor Eric Kaplan. So we just talked about autism and developmental delays. Now it also happens a lot as people are growing up our concussion. So we see a lot of kids, they fall down, they hit their head. We see a
lot of sports injuries. Then we see a lot of car accidents and then slips and falls, all different types of concussion. And the problem with concussion is that everyone's given the wrong advice. People are told to rest, to sit in a dark room and let the brain heal. Well, that is in correct. Think about it like a muscle. If your muscle was damaged, you can't just do nothing and let it atrophy. You have to exercise it to strengthen and rebuild the muscles. When you have a concussion, we
don't want to rest it. We want to strengthen the brain and figure out what areas are damaged and make them stronger, because you're only as strong as your weakest link. However, you can't overdo it. So some people also overdo it with concussion. They go to these brain trauma centers and they're doing too much exercise and they overstimulate their brain. That's called exceeding your metabolic capacity. If you exceed your metabolic capacity, then the brain gets too stressed out.
So with concussion it's an art. You can't do too little, you can't rest too much, and you can't do too much. You can't overdo it. What we have to do is do a thorough evaluation to figure out how severe and bad the concussion is. The best test is called a q EG brain mapping. A q EEG brain mapping will literally tell us heck, do you have memory problems? Is it long term? Is it short term memory? Is its sequential memory? Is it immediate memory? Is it working
memory? Then it tells us do you have troubles with focus? Do you have troubles with motivation, organization planning? Do you have anger? Do you have aggression? Do you have insomnilia? Do you have sleep deprivation? Do you have trouble with your thyroid? Do you have intestinal inflammation? Do you have low dopamine? Do you have low mitochondria? Do you have poor blood flow in circulation into the brain. Is there intestinal inflammation? Is there a
concussi is their heavy metal poisoning is their pathologies. There's a lot of different ways we could break down the brain and analyze it through this qEEG brain mapping. It could tell us which side is overactive, which areas are underactive. Because sometimes we have to do exercises to stimulate the weak areas of the brain, but then we also have to do exercises to calm down the overactive area of the brain. That's why the V is the best test for that it
tells us any differences of the left and right brain in balances. They're called a functional disconnect syndrome. People a brain fog, or they just don't feel like their brains functioning high level. They can't focus, they can't concentrate. This is the test for you, the VNNG video instography. There's no radiation, you don't have to sit in some tube, you don't have to take any contrast fluid. There's no risk. It's literally just cameras that measure eye
movements but correlate to different lobes of your brain. This is a very important test to tell the difference between the left and the right brain. what everyone else does, so you've got to do it differently. Don't do what everyone else does. So all these people think that just getting health insurance is going to make you healthy. If anything, that's the opposite. Because then you think you're taken care of. It's almost better not to have health insurance. Therefore, you know you have to be healthy because
you can't afford to see doctors. You can't afford to do surgeries. So you are forced to be healthy. You're forced to eat healthy. You're forced to exercise, to do the right things, to get your sunlight, to drink the water, to reduce your emotional stress, to go to bed early. You've got to do the right things. If you do the right things, you won't need doctors. You won't need hospital visits, you won't need evaluations, you won't need medications and surgeries. The power that made the body
heals the body. We just have to figure out where your weaknesses are. That's where I come in. That's where Caplin, brain and body come in. We do these neurologic evaluations. Figure out where your weakness is. Then you could take care of it early on, before it becomes a problem. You might have to alter your diet, you might have to increase your water, you might have to exercise. You might have to wake up a little bit earlier. You might have to go to bed a little bit earlier.
You might have to get a little bit of sunlight. But through a certain evaluations, through blood work, through balanced test memory tests, we could figure out where your problems are as your inflammation up. Maybe you just got to reduce your inflammation. Maybe it's easy as getting rid of sugar and supplementing with resveratrol which is from Japanese not weed, which is not only anti inflammatory, but it's also anti aging. There's lots of stuff that's anti aging. Rosemary
that will help you grow hair on your head. You could actually take that so literally. We have people that are seven years old bald, start taking rosemary and all of a sudden, their hair starts growing back. And you have gray hair. Sometimes you have a copper deficiency, so we start putting people on copper and that helps with gray hair. With your nails, sometimes it's a zinc deficiency. You can improve. You could regrow hair, you could get rid of gray hair, You can improve your nails, your skin,
you can get rid of wrinkles. You could improve your vision. Don't let these doctors tell you your eyes get worse as you get age. Start doing these things called Brock string exercise b R O c K. You can improve your near vision and you can improve your far vision, you could get less aches and pains. You have to improve your posture, prove your muscles, your core stability. All these rumors that people tell you that you just things get worse as you get older, those are all lies. You can
get healthier as you get older. You just have to put in the work. You have to put in the work you use it or you'll lose it. talk with the bluetooth headphones. Keep the phone at least six inches away and connected through wire headphones or speaker phone. Reduce electromagnetic radiation in the city. It's almost unavoidable. It's like a walking microwave. So the best thing to do. Get a lot of plans for your apartment, hang outside in the trees, be outside in nature. Leave the city. City is a stressful place, so if you want to avoid electromagnetic radiation frequencies inflammation, sometimes you
gotta leave the city, all right. Very important. If you have a leaky gut, you either have physical stress is causing inflammation, emotional stress is causing inflammation, or biochemical or radiation stresses causing inflammation. Now, when you have a leaky gut, which is where the stomach gets inflamed, you could get viruses, bacteria, parasites, worms, mold, yeast exit out of your intestinal tract, enter the blood stream, and now the blood can transport
it anywhere, including your own brain. If it closses the blood brain barrier, So what we have to do is reduce the inflammation. One of the best ways to reduce inflammation is resveratrol that's found in Japanese notweed and the skin of red grapes. Another good product is tumoric from kirk Human all right. That is highly concentrated anti inflammatories without any side effects like steroids or end seats. Those are the two best natural anti inflammatories. Camamel tea is very good
for anti inflammatory. Garlic ginger. I put garlic and ginger in all your food. That reduces inflammation. A Mega three's reduce inflammation. Almost all disease has inflammation. Right, If you want to reduce heart attack and stroke, you've got to reduce inflammation. The old way of thinking is, oh, my cholesterol is high, my ardias are gonna get clogged. That's going to cause a stroke and a heart attack. That's the old way of thinking.
You can actually a very high cholesterol and not be at risk for heart attack or stroke, especially if your ratio is good, especially if your CRP is low, especially if your ESR is low, your diabetes numbers are low, your triglycerides are low. So if everything is in good shape, you can avoid having a heart attack. Is drug by reducing inflammation, So it's not just doing a lipid panel to see what my cholesterol is. A lot of doctors say, oh, if you're above two hundred for your total cholesterol,
now you've got to be put on statin drugs. And guess what's statin drugs? Cause they actually cause a lot of joint pain. If you have these random joint pains, it might be a side effect of your stating drugs. Don't let the doctors just say, oh, it's old age. That's not true. It could be a side effect of your anti cholesterol stating drugs that you're taking. Another thing that's stating drugs cause is memory problems. It could
lead to dementia and Alzheimer's. Ultimately, I do not want memory problems. I do not want Alzheimer's. I do not want dementia. So one of the things I'm going to make sure I do is keep my cholesterol in order so I don't have to take statins and I don't have a side effect of the statin drugs being dementia. Sometimes the cure is worse than the condition. You always when making a medic field decision measure the risk versus the reward.
How risky is this procedure and what's the reward? In my offices and caplimbrain and body, we like to do the least risky procedures and therapies and treatments with the highest reward.
