I'm your host, doctor Eric Kaplan. We're gonna be talking about ways to improve your focus. There are lots of ways to
improve your focus, but the most important rule is the twenty rule. For every twenty minutes, you get up for twenty seconds, walk twenty feet, or move your body for twenty seconds and look twenty feet away, then you could go back to your work project. Whether you're on the computer, or you're studying, or you're reading, whatever you got to do. You're doing your homework, getting ready for a test, writing a book. The twenty
rule is key for your focus because it replenishes your brain. It reorganizes your brain, It reoxygenates your brain, It prepares your brain to learn more things. That twenty second break is key. That's the twenty rule. And I don't care if you do a twenty second walk, twenty seconds of jumping jacks, twenty seconds of push ups, twenty seconds of sit ups, lunges, squats, jump rope. Just move your body for twenty minutes. I like to just do shoulder rolls. You look up and roll your shoulders back.
That will improve your focus. Moving your body and you have to do exercise. I don't care what it is, but every day you got to move your body. Whether it's to go for a run, go for a bike ride, go rollerblading, play basketball, play tennis, go to the gym, do some dance class, take some zoomba, move your body, tai chi, pilates, yoga. I don't care what it is, but get exercise every day. Even if it's just running for ten seconds down to the
end of your block. Fine, sprint to the end of your block for ten seconds. At least you get your heartbeat a little faster, or at least you started breathing a little bit heavier. At least you strained those muscles. You use it or you lose it. Move your body. You want to increase in focus, You gotta move. The worst thing is sitting. Sitting is the new smoking. People sit when they wake up and go to
their breakfast table. People sit in their car on the way to work, or on the bus, on the way to school, or on the subway commuting. Then they sit at work at the desk or at the computer at their workstation. Then they come home and sit at dinner table. Even if you do something social you go out and sit at a restaurant or sit at a bar, or sit at the movie theater, or sit at the play, or sit at the musical, sit at the opera, you're just sitting.
Start to do activities where you're moving. My activities are moving. I play basketball and tennis and soccer, and I go to the gym and orange theory, and I take the dog for a walk, and I go bike riding with the kids and we go hiking. It's moving. Stop using all the electronics. Start to unplug. You have to move your body. The less sitting the better. Sedentary lifestyle is not only bad for focus and memory
and brain function, it's bad for energy. It's bad for diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's. I don't want any of that stuff, and hopefully you don't either. Patients come to me because they want to vent these conditions. Don't wait till you get it to then start working. The key is now, because if you stop moving, guess what, You're gonna end up in a wheelchair and you'll never move again. But if you move now, you prevent going from the cane to the walker, to the
wheelchair, to bedridden, to a diaper and a nursing home. Don't wait till it's bad, do it now. Enjoy your life, and the way to enjoy it is to be healthy. There's nothing better in life than being healthy. I don't care. You ask the richest people in the world, they would exchange it all for their health. You ask. You know, the most successful people in the world would mean nothing without their health. You know, the people with the whatever it is, you know, the nicest
house, hottest wife. It means nothing unless you're healthy. Your health is everything. You'd be the smartest person in the world. But if you're not healthy, you can't enjoy life. You have to be healthy. The most important thing, it's more important than money, more important than looks, more important than success and relationships, is your health. It's the most important thing. Without your health, nothing else matters. So why don't you treat it
like that? Start taking care of your brain like it's the only brain you'll ever have for the rest of your life. You've got to cherish it. You need to give it good fuel. If you only have one car for the rest of your life. You would give it the best gas, the best oil. You would work on the lmeming, you'd wash it every day. That was the only car you could ever have, and you knew you could never get another one. Take care of it better. Guess what.
You only get one body, You only get one brain, so you gotta take care of it. You need good fuel delivery. The fuel delivery is the sun. Go outside every day from twelve to two at least for five ten minutes. Get that sunlight. Take off your hat, take off your glasses, roll up your sleeves, roll up your pants, get some skin exposure. Absorb that vitamin D. There's nothing better than vitamin D. It's
the most important vitamin or hormone that we have. It fixes your brain, your immune system, your thyroid, your mood, it's everything, and it comes from the sun. It's completely free. So start using the sun. Get out of your house, stop sitting. Go out for a walk during your lunch at least for five ten minutes, hopefully even twenty so you can get some exercise, some movement. You can get some sunlight. Vitamin D. Your levels should be closer to double what they recommend right. Most labs
recommend twenty to thirty as a good vitamin D level. I like to double that, give me fifty to sixty. You don't want to be like everybody else, or else you'll end up like everybody else. You gotta be the one percent. Don't be the ninety nine percent. Be the one percent who is going to be healthy. You want to be the ninety nine percent. You're gonna dive of Alzheimer's cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, in a nursing home, in a wheelchair, with no brain, no memory,
and no joy, passion or love for life. I don't want that life for myself, and I don't want that for you guys. So take what I say seriously. It's not that hard. You just got to create good habits. And I don't think going outside for ten minutes during the middle of the day when the sun's strongest is that big a deal. You can do it. Your health is more important, so vitamin D. If you can't go outside and you can't get real sunlight, you can supplement. I do
personally supplement myself because my vitamin D levels are low as well. Patients are just like, oh, you got it so easy. You're so healthy. I work at my health. I used to be really sick when I was thirteen years old. I was obese, I had bed acne, I had chronic bronchitis. I had brain fog, low energy. It was bad at
sports, bad at school. But then my life turned around after I went to a natural hygiene seminar with my father, and I found out that the fuel delivery, the food that you eat, can reverse almost all conditions. My condition was chronic bronchitis, and I did not like taking the steroids and the antibiotics that the pediatrician gave me because those drugs made me sick. They made me so sick. I was literally vomiting twenty times a day. Anytime
I just walked a little fast, I would throw up. I got kicked out of intramurals. I remember. It was one of the saddest things. They wouldn't let me play sports because I would always throw up, couldn't play in the basement with my brothers because I would always throw up, couldn't go outside with my friends because I would always throw up. I was miserable.
The medication made me worse than the condition, But luckily after I went to the seminar with my dad and we learned about natural hygiene, and one of the first things I learned that milk is toxic. Dairy products are toxic. You are not a cow and you're not a baby. The only milk you should drink is when you're a baby, and it's the human breast milk. Your mother's breast milk is the only milk you should ever drink, and you should only drink it when you're a baby. Once you start eating solid foods,
you don't need milk anymore. That's only for when you can't eat because you don't have teeth or developed digestive system, so you have to use your mother's milk. But if you're not a baby, stop drinking milk. You're not a baby and you're not a cow. And guess what, don't drink sheep milk either, you're not a sheep. And don't drink goat milk. You're not a goat. And I don't care if it's organic and it's whole milk and there's no steroids or antibiotics, it's not natural. Start living natural.
Go outside when it's sunny and rest when it's dark. Eat during the daytime, don't eat during the nighttime. Be more natural, Be a hunter gatherer, Do not be a post industrial and agricultural revolution human. It is not long enough for our bodies to evolve. We cannot break down all these processed foods. We cannot break down dairy products. We don't have the stomach for it. So you got to put it easy on your stomach. Keep it simple. Fruits and veggies and a little chicken here, a little fish
there, little eggs here, a little turkey here. But mostly fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds, stuff that we get directly from the earth. Stay away from the middle of the supermarket. Stay on the outside where everything's fresh. If you eat healthy food, then your brain will function better, feel better, and you'll live a better life. This is doctor Eric Caplan.

Eric Kaplan. We're figuring out how you can function better, feel better, and live a better life. It starts with fuel delivery. The sun gives us a lot of fuel through vitamin D, which is a hormone. The food that we eat gives us energy. That's why we eat for energy. So stop eating at night when you need to relax and go to bed doesn't
make any sense. Just use logic. Don't eat at night. You literally want four hours before bedtime with no food in your body, so that gives you time to digest your dinner, absorb those nutrients, and then when you go to sleep, everything is digested. So now you can break it down and get ready to eliminate your toxins in the morning with a nice bowel movement. You should have one bowel movement every morning that gets rid of everything from
the day before. That is very rare. Most people can't do that, but that's the ideal situation. And when you have a bowel movement, you want it s shaped, half sinking, half floating. That is a good bowel movement. S shape, partial sinking, partial floating. So take a look next time and is your bowel movement s shaped, is it solid, is it floating, is it sinking or is it a little bit of both? Analyze your bowels. Analyze you'r urine. It's too dark, you're dehydrated.
If it's all shiny and neon. You're taking supplements you're not absorbing. Stop wasting your money. Start getting your nutrients through your food. You don't need a multi vitamin. I'm sick of everyone taking multi vitamins. You're not deficient in all those vitamins. Look at your blood works. See what you're deficient in. You know, if you're not deficient in vitamin C, stop taking it. If you're not deficient in zinc, stop taking it. If
you're not deficient and calcium, don't take it. Calcium is one of the most dangerous supplements you could take. Could clog your arteries. It could beat the breast cancer, cause arthritis, rained dysfunction. I don't care. If you're old, doesn't mean you take calcium. I don't care. If you have osteoporosis, it doesn't mean you take calcium. I don't care. If you have osteopenia, it doesn't mean you take calcium. IT don't care.
If you're going through menopause, it doesn't mean take calcium. You're only gonna take calcium if your levels are low, So you have to do your blood work and look at your levels. If they're extremely low, okay, you take calcium. Most people have whak bones because they don't have enough vitamin D D. Vitamin D will make your broones weak more than calcium. And I don't care. If you don't drink milk, that doesn't mean you have low
calcium. Stop thinking that if you don't drink milk, your calcium's low. Nobody gets calcium from milk unless you're a calf. And I don't have any caps that listen to this radio show, so nobody nobody gets calcium from milk, you can absorb it. You have a very different stomach than a cow. You have different enzymes, you have different compartments, you have different pathways and passages, and you have different valves, and it's a completely different system.
There's different bacteria, different types of acid and bio and enzymes. They're all different. You can't break it down. There's no such thing as lactose intolerance. Everybody's lactose intolerant, everybody, one hundred of the human population. It's just that some people can handle it a little bit better, but you're still lactose intolerant. And especially if you're in America, because America has the worst milk in the world. We have the worst cheese, the worst yogurt.
America as the worst butter, the worst cream, cheese, sour cream, creamy sauces. Stay away from all dairy if you're in America. If you're going to Italy, all right, no big deal. Try the pizza there. Do not have pizza here. It is not healthy, it is dangerous, it's inflammatory. They've linked dairy product consumption to increased Parkinson's. They've linked dairy consumption to increased thyroid problems. They've linked dairy consumption to autoimmune disease.
And I'm not even talking about what I have. Dairy congests, the lungs you have asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, COVID nineteen. Stay away from dairy. It will congest your lungs. Dairy is the worst thing you could put in your body. Don't fall for these celebrities with their milk mustaches. Don't fall for all the commercials that tell you milk gives you calcium and makes your bone strong. It's on a commercial. Don't ever buy anything on a
commercial. What's on a commercial? Milk, cheese, yogurt, cream, cheese, butter. Stay away from all those dairy products. What else is on a commercial? Coca Pepsi, seven up, Burger King, McDonald's, bud Light, Heineken. Stay away from everything on a commercial. All these drugs and medications. Oh, this drug may cause suicidal thoughts, violent tendencies. Your butt might start bleeding. Yeah, that sounds like a good thing I want to do. Do you ever hear those commercials? Stay away from
anything on a commercial. Have you ever seen a kale commercial? No? Have you ever seen a cucumber commercial? No? An orange commercial. No, you'll see an orange juice commercial. Stay away from juice. You won't see an orange commercial. People know oranges are healthy. People know lettuce, kale, spinach is healthy. The only vegetables you'll see on a commercial are ones in a can. We don't want that. Don't eat anything from a can or a box or bag. You want everything fresh. Your brain needs
good fuel delivery. Stop feeding it crap. Stay away from dairy. Stay away from all the white foods, sugar, it's everywhere. Stay away from all the flour, the bread, the noodles, the rice, the potatoes, the oats, the cereals, the crackers, the muffins, the croissants, the toast, the bagels, all the junk food, all the desserts, the cakes, the pastry, the cookies. It's all sugar and gluten
and dairy. That's all crap that causes brain inflammation, causes joint inflammation, stomach problems, hard problems, lung problems, skin problems, brain fog, balance problems, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's. They're changing the name of Alzheimer's disease to diabetes type three because when you have a lot of those white foods and sugar and dairy and bread and grains and rice and potatoes, and you end up getting diabetes. That makes you a lot more likely to get Alzheimer's disease.
So stay away from all those starchy carbs, all those complex carbs. Start eating more fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds and meats and fish and chicken and eggs. Be a hunter gatherer. Don't be ordering out food all the time. Microwave meals. Should never microwave anything. Microwave kills all the nutrients. Microwave kills water. If you try and water plants with microwaved water, those plants will die. You do not get any nutrients when you microwave.
If you have to heat something up, put it in a toaster oven. Just put it on bake. It's basically just as quick. But stop using the microwave. It kills all the nutrients. And try not to eat leftover food. You know, if you eat leftover rice, it's full of yeast. It's full of mold cause its fungus infections, yeast infections. If you eat leftover onions, cut up onions, it literally starts growing mold pretty quickly. Cut up garlic that grows mold rice grows mold, and I want to
be eating mold. Eat stuff that's fresh. The fresh are the better. No preservatives, no artificial flavors, no food dies. That's fuel delivery. Stay away from all the white foods, the sugar, the dairy, the breads, and eat all the colorful foods. Eat something that's orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. That will give you all your nutrients. Then you won't need a multivitamin and you as long as you absorb properly, then you're going to get the brain the energy it needs so you can

it from the sunlight. Go outside during lunchtime for ten to twenty minutes. You're gonna get it from food, each color of the rainbow every day with your fruits and veggies and a void all the white foods. You're also going to get energy and brain function from oxygen. So start to do some breathing exercises. The best breathing exercises is inhale for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds and exhale for eight seconds. When you inhale, breathe from
your diaphragm and push your diaphragm down and out. That will expand your lungs to increase the capacity to get more oxygen in there. When you exhale, your belly should go back in and it's going to push out the carbon dioxide, and that way you get rid of the toxic carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide
is toxic to animals, but it helps to grow plants. So when you exhale, not only getting rid of your bad stuff, but you're giving the plants and the trees and the bushes and the fruits and the veggies all the good stuff that they need. It's a symbiotic relationship. So most people will tell you to do a big inhale and focus on that. If you really want your brain to function best and focus best, focus on your exhale.
Make your exhal twice as long as you inhale, not the common yoga box breathing where you inhale for hold for exhale for hold for You need to excel twice as long as you inhale. So the best exercises that have been proven to neuroscience. To boost your brain power, reduce stress, anxiety, and help you focus and think better is to inhale for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and exhale for eight seconds. When you do this,
repeat it three times and then do it three times a day. Make make sure you do your diaframatic breathing and stop breathing through your neck and shoulders and chest. That's called accessory muscles to breathing. We don't like that. We want you to use your primary respiratory muscles. Use that diaphragm that also stimulates your vagus nerve, which will help get you in a relaxed state. Get more blood and oxygen to your brain to help you to focus and think
better. Other things that increase oxygen are plants in your apartment or your house. The four best plants are snake plants, spider plants, alovera plant, and money plants. Those will give you a great air purification system. And make sure you put all the plants together. The plants are social. They like to be around other plants and talk to your plants. Singing to your plants, play music for them, and do not give them microwaved water.
They'll die if you boil water. That won't kill your plants. It's not about the heat. It's the microwaving. It's the radiation. And definitely don't stand near a microwave when you're using it. That's more radiation. Don't talk on your phone next to your head. That's radiating your brain. I have a patient who's a brain surgeon, and he said, ever since cell phones or these smartphones have been invented, it's the smartphones, you know, because they got Wi Fi and five G, a lot of the power, big
batteries, electricity, a lot of radiation. Brain cancer has been through the roof seeing all these brain tumors like never before. And it's aggravated by all the technology, all the Wi Fi, all the five G, all the cell phones and smartphones and laptops and iPads and and it's all so close to your head. Don't sleep with your phone right next to your head. All machines should be at least minimum six feet away from you as you sleep.
Don't have anything plugged in within six feet of you, and that includes on your side of the wall and the other side of the wall. Reduce your radiation. Your brain will thank you. No electronics no electricity in your bedroom. If you use your phone as an alarm, which is fine, I do that as well, but leave it six feet away from you. Put it on airplane mode, turn off all your WiFi and five G signals. Just put it on an airplane mode, and then when it goes off,
you get up and turn it off. No problem with that, but just keep it six feet from you. Don't have anything plugged in near you as well. It's too much radiation. There's so much radio going on. You gotta limit the amount of radiation. When you go on an airplane, that's radiation. You get X rays and cat scans, it's radiation. Go to the dentists radiation. You go into a Starbucks, that's radiation because of all the Wi Fi, the microwaves, radiation. You gotta be careful. Your
only allowed a certain amount before you start getting cancer. So minimize the amount of radiation you can get. Minimize all toxins. Minimize fluoride. Fluorides a neurotoxin. Find that in your tooth based so you find it when you go to the dentist for the teeth cleaning. Find it in the water that you drink. You gotta filter it. Out you gotta buy non fluoride toothpaste. You gotta tell the dentist you don't want fluoride, because they're gonna do it
unless you tell them. Nobody cares about your health more than you, and they think they're doing the right thing. It's just because that's what are taught, all right. But if you really read the research, you're gonna find out floride doesn't prevent you from getting cavities, just as calcium doesn't prevent you from breaking your bones, just as drinking milk doesn't prevent you from osteoporosis. We're told a lot of lies, you know. We're told all this bad
stuff. It's not true. We're also told fat is bad for you. No, fat's great for you. All your brain is more fat than anything. Your nerves are covered in fat. I want you to eat a ton of fat. But we're taught fat's bad. Now. The FDA has a list of healthy foods and bad foods, and on their bad food list is avocado and salmon because it's high and fat, and they say, ooh, fat's bad. You know it's on a good list pop tarts and frosted flakes. You know why, because they're fat free. There's no fat. Fat
free is no good. So if you listen to America, you listen to your government, and you listen to commercials, you listen to your doctors, the FDA, they're gonna tell you that fat is bad and sugar and dairy and grains and bread are good. That's what they promote. I always do opposite of what the government tells me. During COVID nineteen, they said, everybody's staying inside. Nope, I'm going outside. I'm getting oxygen vitamin D. You know how hard it is for viruses to spread outside, So you
want me to stay inside. No, thank you. I'm safe for being outside. They say, isolate, don't touch anybody wrong. You need to socialize. Obviously, not if you're sick and you have a temperature. But the worst thing for immune system is isolation. You know how weak your immune system would come if you're isolating. They closed the gyms and the churches. They said, don't go to gym, don't go to church. I did the opposite. I worked out more, I prayed more. They wanted to
watch the news every minute, see how many people were dying. Boom, No way, I turn off the news. We went camping, where we had normal conversations with normal people who weren't watching TV and weren't freaking out. But every death that happened every second, How come the news doesn't report now all the deaths that are happening you. How many people are dying right now
from heart disease cancer, A lot more than dying of COVID. But they don't want to freak you out about heart disease and cancer, not unless they're selling their little product right to money. It's greed you think they care about your health. The CDC and the FDA are not government entities. They're private run by corporations. They're not run by government officials. And even if they were run by government officials, the government officials are bought out by the pharmaceutical
companies, so you can't trust them. The only way to do it is we get rid of campaign financing. We get rid of term limits, We get rid of the lobbyists. It's not that hard. You do those three things and everything will be fixed. Get rid of campaign financing, lobbyists, and term limits we need. That would solve almost every problem, and we'd become the most powerful, smartest country again, most charitable, most loving, most accepting, most balanced. Right now, it's full of greedy people.
I don't believe in the Democrats. I don't believe in the Republicans. We need to get rid of a two party system. We need to have at least minimum four or five six parties. You need options. How pathetic is it that our two options are Joe Biden and Donald Trump for the greatest country in the world. That's the best we have to offer. It's pathetic. You've got to be different. Turn off the television, don't follow the government, don't follow the news, don't listen to commercials. Go outside the box
of what your medical doctor teaches you. You have to think for you. You have to think for yourself and out of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So start working on prevention. We need vitamin D from the sun. We need to get all the colors
of the rainbow for our new chance from a food that we eat. We need to get oxygen by breathing right. And the last thing is water. You need water. You need to drink halfier bodyweight in ounces. If you weigh one hundred and sixty pounds, you need eighty ounces of water and you want to drink it on an empty stomach with either pink kimelayin salt or Celtic sea salt. Then you just put a pinch in for the electrolytes. Much better than Pedi light or Gatorade or smart water or vite of water. That's
all crap. Make your own healthy water with just regular filtered water. You can do reverse osmosis. You can do distilled, but then you mineralize it with the pink Kimelaine salt or the Celtic salt that gives it the minerals so that you absorb the water. You don't want to just drink out of Dasani water bottles and then just pee it out, or drink poland springs and just pee it out. Stop drinking those plastic water bottles. Get a filter and
use glass water bottles. Sweeze some lemon or lime to make it a little bit flavorful if you want, but always drink on an empty stomach. That way it gets absorbed best. So first thing in the morning and a half hour before each meal, and then at night half your body weight announces with the salt. That's the way you absorb water. Don't do it while you're eating food. Doesn't count. If you're doing it while you're taking your medicine
and your pills. It's gotta be an empty stomach, nothing else but water, and do it a half hour before each meal. That'll help to lubricate the intestinal pathway as well as put some stuff in your stomach so you don't overeat, and it gets you ready for digestion. Half your body weight in ounces every day, be consistent. If you get muscle cramps at night, like in your calves, you're dehydrated. If you get stomach cramps during your
period, you're dehydrated. A lot of headaches are just dehydration. A lot of brain fog and memory problems is dehydration, not a digestive problems is dehydration. Your heart too, Drink more water. It's easy for the blood to flow and transport oxygen. Then your blood pressure doesn't have to go up so high. If your blood is dehydrated, you need more pressure. You drink more water. Your blood pressure goes down, you drink more water. Your
memory improves, you drink more water. Your wrinkles decrease. You want less wrinkles, Drink more water. You want good skin, drink more water. I mean, I don't know what else to tell you. If that doesn't convince you. I don't know what will, but that's part of your fuel delivery system. So you got the twenty rule. Getting up every twenty minutes. If you're working, studying reading, you want to improve your brain focus,
you get up every twenty minutes. That's the twenty rule. Move your body twenty seconds, walk twenty feet, twenty jumping jacks, twenty push ups, twenty sit ups. You need twenty every twenty minutes. You take a break for twenty seconds. Also, look twenty feet away. Help exercise your eyes. The best eye exercise to improve vision, near vision, and far vision. It's called a brock string exercise. That's best for your vision.
But you got to figure out, you know, what parts of your brain aren't working right A lot of times for focus, it might be your frontal cortex where the executive functions are. Or sometimes it might be cerebellum, which is like the coordinator, the director of your thoughts. Or it might be a brain stem. You know, you might not be getting enough blood flow and oxygen into the brain. You might have inflammation, might be dehydrated,
you might have autoimmune disease. There's lots of causes we need to figure out the root cause. The best way to figure out the root cause of your neurological problems your brain and your body. It's called a qEEG brain mapping. This is a test where you wear a cap that's got all these electrodes that are attached to it, and the electrodes measure your brain waves alpha brain waves and beta and theta and delta and alpha brain wave is how we normally are.
A beta brain wave is when you're really focused and thinking concentrating. A theta brain wave that's when you're daydreaming. You know, you're looking at the window, listen to the birds chirp and la la land. A lot of creativity comes from that time. And the delta brain wave is when you're sleeping. You're at rest, not really using your brain too much. So it measures all these different brain waves and wherever we find the abnormal brain waves.
Based on the location of each area the lobe of where it happens, we can tell you where your neurological problems are coming from. Say, hey, you know you got troubles with focus, or you get distracted easy, or you don't have good motivation, or you have short term memory problems working memory
problems, long term memory issues. You have certain sensory issues lights or sounds, or balance problems, or you have depression or anxiety, or you have a thyroid problem or intestinal inflammation, or you have white matter inflammation in your brain, or you have low dopamine or low acetyl coline, or you have I mean a lot of stuff, digestive problems, if you have trouble shifting
