Function better, feel better, and live a better life. This is doctor Eric Kaplan, and you're listening to boost your brain power. We're going to talk about how to improve your energy. I've been getting so many patients recently that are complaining about low energy. And what do most people do about low energy? Well, they

wake up and they drink a cup of coffee. They drink that cup of coffee that has caffeine to give them energy. Or people might drink energy drinks whatever it is, red Bull Monster, So they're trying to get it from an outside source. Some people will do drugs, amphetamines, cocaine, stimulants. Those are fake, it's not real. The caffeine is giving you energy. The drugs are giving you energy. That's not real. It's not going to last. So then you have to have coffee every single morning to get

you going. That's a drug. You shouldn't depend on anything to increase your energy. All the energy is withinside of you already. When we were younger in school, they taught us that energy can not be created nor destroyed. There is constant energy in your body. It's there. You just need to use it, and you don't want to waste it. Most people are tired because they're wasting their energy. How can you waste your energy? The most

common way people waste their energy, it's called a drenal fatigue. Adrenaline is what you need when you're in a stress mode. That's when your wife is under the car and you need the adrenaline to give you that strength and energy to lift up the car to save her life. That's adrenaline. That's when

you need the energy. Or when you're playing competitive sports and you have to beat someone to the line, you need that adrenaline to go to kick in to give your body super speed so you could beat them to the line. That's adrenaline. Or if you're in the city and somebody's trying to mug you and you gotta run away quick, then we got adrenaline right. Or you're swimming in the ocean and you see a chart a shark attacking you when you gotta punch it in the nose, then you need the adrenaline. For me.

I remember a story I was riding bicycles with my kids. Right now, I have a thirteen year old boy and a nine year old boy. This was years ago when my nine year old was probably about five years old, so must been four years ago. And we're riding bikes and I just taught him how to ride the bike, so he just learned. So we're going along the road and we come to a hill and I was explaining that a hill's pretty easy, right, the hill's pretty easy, but you can't

go too fast because that it's hard to stop, all right. So I was explaining to him that you got to go slow down the hill, right. So he was learning, and he went slow down the hill and everything was great, all right, my adrenalines, calm bodies, relax, we're having fun. Then we go and we're going along the flat path and it's nice and straight, and what we do is we hold hands while we're riding the bike. Not the smartest thing in the world, but and it was

my fault. I said, grab my hand, and then he grabbed my hand and the bike fell. And now I'm holding his hand and we're going pretty fast and the bike fell. So I needed my adrenaline to literally hold him up with one hand as I'm riding the bike, balancing my bike, and I'm holding him up with one hand. So I had this super strength and it was easy, like no problem. I just held him up and

then I slowed down and then I let him down. But that adrenaline didn't kick in, I wouldn't have been able to save him and he would have literally fallen down. But a lot of parents must know this. Where you know you have to save your kid, you become super strong. That's the it's when you're in stress mode. Now. The problem is when people are in stress mode all the time, then your adrenaline is gonna be going all

the time. Then you're gonna drain yourself of energy. Then you're gonna have fatigue because you're always using up unnecessary energy because you're always in stress mode.

So instead of only being stressed when you're being mugged, or your kids about to fall, or you have to save your wife, or you're being in a competitive sport, So if you're using all the time when you're just working, or when you're at home, or when you're driving, or when you're doing chores or when you're taking kids around town, if you're always in stress

mode. Then your adrenaline's always going high. Then you're going to use up all the energy in your body and you're not gonna have any gas left in the tank, so that when you do need energy, now you're already fatigued because you're stressing out over things that aren't necessary. A lot of people have anxiety, and they worry about everything. They're worried about, you know, being late. They're worried about what they're going to feed their kids. They're

worried about their memory is not getting as good. They're worried about money, they're worried about relationships. They're worried about a living situation. They're worried about mold, and they're worried about getting COVID, and they're worried about lime disease and ticks, and they're worried about heavy metal exposure. And they're worried about the government, and they're worried about World War IIE, and they're worried about

racism, and they're worried about crime, and they're worried about inflation. I mean, yes, there's lots to worry about. But what happens is your brain ruminates on these negative thoughts and you can't shut it off, and then your brain's in stress mode twenty four to seven. Even when you're sleeping, might have nightmares, might have restless leg syndrome. You might have to get up a bunch of times to pee. You might get a turnover, It

might be in pain, mine might be raising. You might even be sleeping, but your brain is not deep RESTful, and you're a light sleeper because your adrenaline's going. It's always in stress mode. It's ready for that lion to attack you. But there is no lion right Most people they go home, they lock their door at night, they have a roof up over their head, They got clothes on their back, they have food and the refrigerator. Most people go to bed knowing they're pretty safe. It used to be

you could go to bed and you could get killed by a lion. It used to be you could go to bed and you don't know if you're gonnay fine food the next day. These days are stress levels, especially in America, are very low comparatively to the way it was hundreds thousands of years ago. We got pretty easy. So many people have to find ways to be stressed. Okay, and then what happens is the stress causes a physical manifestation. It could be a heart attack. It could be cancer, It could

be stroke, it could be a tremor. It could be back pain, neck pain, insomnia, headaches, add troubles with focus, memory problems, dizzyness, vertigo, nausea, respiratory problems, infections, we immune system allergies, chemical sensitivities. It may display as joint pains. It may display as muscle cramps. It may display as cold appendages like in your hands and your feet. There's lots of ways it could have a physical manifestation, all right.

It's not just anxiety. It's not just panic attacks where your heart starts beating and you start sweating, and we see lots of patients with that. But many times, these high stress levels, these adrenal issues can manifest in other physical ways. But that's why we want to get to the root cause of the energy prompt not just treat it and say, Okay, I'm tired, give me the caffeine, give me the drugs. I'll take this medication. Is there a supplement I could do? Is there some energy boosting pill

I could take? That's what people look for, some quick fix that is not what I do. I go to the root cause of the problem. Don't come to me. If you're looking for a doctor who's just going to write you a pill for some medication, some pharmaceutical, some supplement, some pill. That's not what I do. That's the medical mindset that's treating symptoms.

I'm not going to give you a pill for your energy. But what I want to do is get to the root cause of why you're not producing the energy, because that way you'll function better, feel better, and live a better life more. We're talking about how to boost your energy without medication,

without drugs, without heals, without caffeine, without an energy booster. Remember, energy cannot be created nor destroyed. If you drink coffee, energy drinks, or take caffeine, it's not creating energy. It's fake energy. It's not real. The real energy is in your body, and you can create that energy and manifest it in your real life by improving the function of your body. Get everything going. It starts with physical exercise. Sometimes people would

think if I sleep more, I'll get more energy. That's incorrect. If you sleep more, you actually lose energy. So it's better to wake up an hour earlier and work out and exercise and that will create more energy during the day. Right, Let's say you have to leave your house at eight am to start work at nine am. Okay, that means you need to work out before eight am. So what if your choice is wake up at seven, so you got kids, take care of the kids, get them

to school. Then you've got a shower, you gotta make breakfast, make lunch. All right, that's your hour from seven to eight. No time for exercise now. Instead, let's wake up an hour earlier at six. Now you're able to exercise. Now you're able to meditate, even if it's just thirty seconds. Now you're able to do some breathing exercises, some stretching.

Now you're able to write in your gratitude journal. So if you wake up an hour earlier and get an hour less sleep, but do these boosting energy activities in the morning, which I call the power hour, then you're gonna have more energy throughout the day even with less sleep. Make sure you drink water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. And the best way to get energy with your water is to put a pinch of salt, either the Celtic salt or the pink Malan salt. Squeeze some lemon for some

flavor. Right. That gives your brain the juice the energy it needs. The brain needs water, just like a grape that gets dehydrated becomes a shriveled up raisin. A nice juicy brain that gets dehydrated shrivels up and you lose energy. We call it fuel delivery. The brain needs fuel, water, oxygen, food, It needs fuel. Okay, So the water, you're supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces, and you want to drink

on an empty stomach. So two glasses first thing in the morning. Then you want to drink a half hour before each meal, and then you want to drink a glass in the evening as well. If you weigh one hundred and sixty pounds, you want to drink eighty ounces a day. It's half your body weight in ounces. Water gives you energy. Water helps with circulation. If your blood is dehydrated, it becomes slow with viscous like molasses. It's not gonna move. You're not gonna get the oxygen to the place you

need. The oxygen gives you the energy you want energy. You need oxygen. You need the oxygen transported by your blood, and the blood can't transport the oxygen unless there's good hydration. So you want to drink a lot of water. You ever are doing blood work or donating blood, drink a ton of water. Right. You want good oxygen, good blood flow. You're trying to heal. You got to drink a ton of water. Get that blood and oxygen so you can heal. Get the oxygen into the cells.

It's fuel delivery. You want to improve energy, you need more oxygen. You know what is not good for oxygen is poor posture. Most people have poor posture because their shoulders are rolled in and they're head is tilted down. Most people's daily activities our shoulders rolled in and head tilted down. So if you know you're doing that activity, you have to purposely say, hey, you know what, I'm going to bring my shoulders back and chin up.

I like to do these shoulder rolls where you look up and roll your shoulders back. If your shoulders are rolled in and your chin is down, you cannot breathe properly. Try it right now, so kind of slouch down forward, roll your shoulders in, tuck your chin down, and take a breath in. Now, conversely, sit straight up, roll your shoulders back, tilt your chin up, and now try and take a big breath in much

much bigger. More oxygen. The better your posture is, the more oxygen you're going to get Also, you want to breathe from your diaphragm, don't breathe from your neck and your shoulders. So when you inhale, push your diaphragm down and out, so your belly becomes kind of big and heavy. When you push your diaphragm down and out during the inhale, that's going to allow your lungs to open up and expand more. Therefore, it's going to

increase the amount of oxygen that get into your lungs. If you want to increase energy, you gotta increase oxygen. When you exercise every morning. That increases your oxygen, That increases the efficiency of your heart, That increases your muscle tone, that increases the strength of your bones to prevent osteoporosis and osteopinion, to prevent fractures. Physical exercise is the best thing you could do. It will boost your mood. You have these chemicals that only get released with

physical exercise that can boost your mood. There's no pill you can take that's stronger than physical exercise of the human body. And I'm talking about aerobic and anaerobic weight resistant exercises. Stuff that gets you sweat and your heart beaten fast calistatics, use your own body weight, a variety of exercises covering all your different body parts. Variety is important when you work out. Don't always do the same exercises every single time. It's great if you could switch it.

The body likes switching it up. Switch up your exercises. Switch up the foods you eat. Switch up the activities you do, Switch up the people you hang out with. Switch up the places you visit and go on vacation, switch up the hobbies you do. Get out of your comfort zone. You want energy, you've got to get out of your comfort zones. You gotta stimulate your brain. You gotta challenge your brain. You gotta be uncomfortable.

The more you're comfortable, you become lazy. You become complacent with your life. That's when you're gonna lose energy. If you have depression, the key thing is progression. With depression, you need aggression. You need to progress in every aspect of your life. If you want more energy, you've gotta challenge yourself. You're gotta make yourself work hard. All your energy is

within your body. We just need to manifest it to the outside world, where we don't take our energy from the outside world and put it in. But we take our energy from the inside of our body and release it out, and your energy will become contagious and you will boost other people's energy. But you got to start from yourself. You gotta start with exercise. You

gotta start with fuel delivery, which is water and oxygen. And then we'll talk about food and other brain type of activities when we come back from the break, so you can function better, feel better, and live a better

You can do it on your own, and it's not that hard, but you might have to quit caffeine. And when you do quit caffeine, your energy is gonna go lower. You're gonna feel worse.

You're gonna feel foggy, might get headaches, might be irritable and angry, and you might have trouble sleep. But that's just the beginning, maybe for the first week. But then you start to get more energy on your own. Then you start to realize you can produce it within your own body. The power that made the body heals the body. And you can use stuff from the earth to give you energy. And what's from the earth, right if you go outside, you get sunlight. Sunlight gives you energy get

outside. You want energy, Get off your butt and go outside every day. You need to see the sun. The sun gives you energy. I literally go outside every morning and I put out my hands, my palm's open, and I put them towards the sun, and I take the power from the sun, and it gives me energy. The sun gives you energy. Everyone's scared of the sun. Everyone thinks the sun closes skin cancer. And everyone thinks the sun is gonna burn you and hurt you. We'd all be

dead without the sun. Stop hiding from the sun. Get out and get your vitamin D, which comes from the sun. You want energy, You need vitamin D. Where do you get vitamin D from the sun. It doesn't cost you a nickel. Go outside and get some sunlight. What else is outside? Oxygen? It doesn't cause you to cause it doesn't cost you a nickel. There's free oxygen outside. Go outside around some trees. One tree produces enough oxygen for five people. So how about you go around five

tree. That means you're in an oxygen tank. Go in the forest, Go in the woods, go to the park, go to the jungle. I don't care where you go. Get some trees, be around trees and do your breathing exercise. The best breathing exercise to maximize your oxygen and energy is inhale for four seconds, hold it for seven seconds, and exhale for eight seconds. And you can even do like where you do a big inhale for three and then for the fourth one you do another even bigger. You

go in for three and then another big one for the fourth second. So you gotta double inhale. Then you hold it for seven seconds, and then you slowly consistently exhale for eight seconds. Remember to be from your diaphragm. Push your belly down and out. Remember lift up your chamber and your shoulders back. Maximize that oxygen intake right, do this around five trees. If

you need, you can do extra stuff right. If you need extra vitamin D, you could supplement with vitamin D. If you need extra oxygen, you could do the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. We have that in our office. People love the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. You line it for an hour. People like it for their immune system, helps to fight off line disease, helps to fight off COVID nineteen. They even are bringing it in hospitals now to

help fight COVID. Professionally, athletes use these hyperbaric oxygen chambers. It used to be just or the rich and the famous, but now everybody can do it. You want more oxygen, you can biohack your way with a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Right if you're worried about your memory and you want a neuro hack to boost your brain power. Our patients give us great results from the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. They say their brain functions at a higher level. You

want more energy. The hyperbaric oxygen chamber is one hundred percent oxygen. Normal oxygen in the air is about twenty percent. The air is mostly nitrogen accident, but with the hyperbaric oxygen chamber, it filters out all that nitrogen. So instead of only being twenty percent oxygen that you'll be breathing, you read one hundred percent oxygen. And not only that, you're in this tank, so your whole body gets it. And I love this. Thank It's like

a bed. It's nice. You lie down. You can, you know, sit up if you want and read a book and do some stretches or listening to some music. I personally just like to lie down and actually go to sleep, I just sleep for an hour and then I wake up with

all his energy. And then that the days I do the chamber are always my best performances of basketball that night, or orange theory the next day, or soccer that day, whatever activity I'm doing, I always can jump a little bit higher, run a little bit faster, have a little bit more endurance, increase my energy, my focus. But a lot of people are doing it just to help with whatever they have, a stroke or Parkinson's,

or als or MS or add or autism. You know, we see such a wide variety of patients in our offices because I'm a function neurologist and everybody has a brain from zero to one hundred. So yeah, we see people that are in their nineties with Alzheimer's and dementia that we're helping with. And then we also see babies zero one or two that might have autism or developmental delays, or troubles with talking or speech, or they can't lift up their

heads, troubles with tone, and then we see everybody in between. Everybody's got a brain, but the problem is nobody teaches you to take care of your brain. I'm forty six years old, when I was growing up, we heard, hey, brush your teeth every day. We heard eat healthy, we heard drink water, exercise. I heard that stuff growing up, but no one ever taught us to use your brain. And if you think

about it, there's nothing more important than your brain. And nowadays, especially with the baby boomers getting a little bit older and older, Alzheimer's is through the roof. One out of every three senior citizen is going to die of Alzheimer's. That's pretty scary, and within ten years it's probably going to be the number one cause. Right now it's heart disease and cancer, but soon it's going to be Alzheimer's disease. It's growing faster than any disease, and

it's becoming younger and younger and younger. We have lots of people that are losing their memory, a brain fog, troubles with focus at young ages. And one of the earliest signs of Alzheimer's dementia Parkinson's is frontal low disorders is loss of smell. And since COVID, we've seen many more patients that have lost their smell and we're trying to get back their smell by doing neurologic exercises through a process called neuroplasticity, and people's smell are coming back. I had

a patient the other day. He's like, oh man, he came to me he couldn't smell, and finally he's starting to smell. He's like, I could actually go into the kitchen and now I smell, and now he can even distinguish his smell. At first, we just got him to start smelling things. Now he can actually identify this smells. You know, he went from zero smell to twenty five percent smell back to fifty percent smell back to seventy five percent smell back, we're about it's seventy five and we're gonna

just continue to do that until he gets to one hundred percent. That's going to prevent him from developing these neurological disorders later in life. So if you don't have a good sense of smell, you better get your brain evaluated. And I'm going to tell you at the end of the show how to evaluate your brain to know if you need to work on your frontal cortex because it

might lead to dementia or Alzheimer's or Parkinson's or something like that. Right, So stick around at the end of the show, we're going to tell you about that, right But for energy, we want to go outside to see the sun. For energy, you want to go outside around trees to get the oxygen. And then we also want to get energy from the earth, meaning take off your shoes, take off your socks, put your feet in the grass, in the dirt, in the sand, and feel the earth.

Hug a tree that will give you energy. The sun will give you energy, the air, the oxygen will give you energy, the water will give you energy. The earth will give you energy. And not only touching the earth and feeling it by earthing with your feet and hugging a tree, but also from the food that comes from the earth, which we'll discuss after the break. you're listening to boost your brain power. We could boost your energy with food from the earth. The food that's going to deplete yourself from energy is all the food that's in boxes, in bags, in cans, that's processed, that has more than one ingredient, that's not in its natural state. If you want to increase your energy, you need to eat real food. You

need to eat food from the earth. You need to eat each color of the rainbow, preferably for every single month meal, but minimally every single day, something that's red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. You have to cover the colors of the rainbow to give you all your nutrients and increase your energy. Those are your vitamins, your minerals you can get when you drink your water and put the celtic or the pink Himalayan salt.

Those are minerals. So you're getting mineral water vitamins from whole foods. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Those are the colors of the rainbow. Every single meal cover the rainbow. The white foods are going to decrease your energy. Sugar bread, flour, noodles, rice, potatoes, pasta, crackers, cereal. They give you a quick sugar high, but then you crash. It's not lasting energy. The longest

lasting energy is fat. But get your fat from your fruits and your veggies such as avocado, healthy fat, olives, very healthy fat, walnuts, brazil nuts, Macadamian nuts, healthy fat. You can get healthy fat small fish, salmon, sardines, harring girl small fish which have low heavy metals but good healthy fat. Organic free roaming, vegetarian fed eggs, those have good fat. If you want to just take a scoop of coconut oil,

that's pretty healthy fat. If you want to supplement with omega threes like krill oil, that can help as well. Healthy fat good energy. Energy comes the longer lasting one from fat and proteins too. Those help as well. Healthy proteins right, healthy proteins. Where can you get that? If you're a vegetarian, you can get it from seeds and nuts and lentiles and beans, some green leafy vegetables. Good protein there. If you eat animals, make sure if you get fish, you get it wild and small, they

have protein. If you eat chicken, get it free roaming. No antibiotics, no steroids like organic, not fed, genetically modified corn. If you eat meat, make sure the cow is grass fed, raised in a humane environment, dozen full of antibiotics and steroids and hormones. If you eat a cow that has hormones, then you're taking hormones. It's why we're getting kids

at nine years old getting their period, throwing mustaches or boobies. These little kids that are developing so early because they're literally eating hormones in their dairy products and in their meat products and in their chicken. Stop eating food that's full of hormones, because then you're taking hormones. If you're eating meat that has steroids, you're taking steroids. Then you wonder why you're all swollen while your

stomach hurts. Steroids have lots of side effects. Antibiotics have lots of side effects. Antibiotics ruin your gut microbiome. If you eat chicken, eggs, meat with antibiotics, you're taking antibiotics. Even the water has antibiotics. A lot of the water has drugs found in it. Yes, the water has lead and metals and fluoride and plastics, but it also has pharmaceuticals. It's

crazy. It gotta li out for this stuff, right. So you want energy from food, eat the rainbow, stay away from the white foods. Also, well, you eat for energy, so you only want to eat during the daylight hours ten am to six pm. During the early morning and evening and nighttime, we don't want to eat. We want to eat when the sun's strongest. So we get energy from the sun, from water, from the earth, from the air, from food, from exercise. You're

also gonna get energy from helping others. People don't understand how much energy I have because all day I just help people. You want to boost your energy, you gotta hear the stories I hear every day. I mean unbelievable stuff.

People that are able to walk again for the first time, people that are able to talk for the first time, people that are able to remember again, people that get rid of their headaches and dizziness and balance problems, people that are reversing Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, people that are helping with autism and add and ADHD. I get these things from parents and grandparents and children and siblings and spouses and friends and families. Just thanking us for all

the work that we do to give people these lives back. That is my goal, is to teach people around the world to how to help themselves so they can function better, feel better, and live a better life. It's all about the quality of life. You only have one brain and one body, but if you don't take care of it, you're going to have a poor quality of life. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So you've got to take action today to improve your brain. Improve your

energy, improve your memory. You can get more energy as you get older. You could get better memory as you get older. You can get less joint pain, better sleep. You can improve your vision, you can get taller as you get older. These happen every day. At my office. But my patients put in the work. Are you ready to put in the work. Don't come to me if you just want me to give you a

pill or cut out some organ. That is not what I do. I'm not the doctor that writes prescriptions or perform surgeries, but I'm a doctor that discovers where your weaknesses are and teaches you how to boost your own brain and body's power to function at a higher level. The first thing you need to do is do neurologic testing. We're gonna give a gift to every one of

our listeners. There's gonna be three neurologic tests. Each test is five hundred dollars each, so if you do all three tests, it's normally fifteen hundred dollars. We're going to do a special where you could get each of the

three tests for only twenty one dollars. What the tests are. The first one is called a qEEG brain mapping, where you wear a cap that measures your different brain waves alpha, beta, beta, delta, and it tells us which areas of the brain are functioning well and which area the brains are not functioning well. It's non invasive, there's no radiation The second test is called a VNG. This tells us which area the brain is overactive, which

is underactive. Right, if you have low energy, you probably have a lot of underactive areas of brain. If you have high anxiety and you can't sleep, probably have overactive areas the brain. The next test is that VNG. That's very good to tell us which is over which is under so we could give you the appropriate program. The third test is a one on one with me, and that I would review your q EEG, which might tell

us do you have depression, anxiety, memory problems, focused problems. Do you have a thyroid problem, you have intestinal problems, you have heavy metals, concussion? Do you have any trouble with sleep? Do you have insomnia? Do you have motivation problems? So it breaks down everything. The VNG tells us which areas are overactive, which areas are underactive, and it analyzes each lobe of brain. During the one on one with me, I'll go

over those two tests as well. We'll also go over if you have blood work, also check out your memory. We'll check out your heart, your lungs, your breathing, your oxygen, your posture, your alignment, your reflexes, your balance takes about forty five minutes. Right, so you could do the one on one with me, the brain mapping, and the VNG. Those are three tests. You can do all three or you could just
