I am your host, doctor Eric Kaplan. It is my birthday today. I turned forty six years old, and this is the healthiest I've ever felt in my life. My brain is the best it's ever been. My memory is the best it's ever been. I'm more in shape than I've ever been. My muscles are strongest, my vision is
best. I keep on improving my vision every year my life. This is the best my eyes have been. This is the best my memory has been. This is the best my brain, body, my heart, my gut. I'm at the top of my game at forty six, and when I'm fifty, I'm gonna be even healthier. And what I'm gonna do for you guys today is share what I do on a perfect day to boost my brain power, improve my mood, keep my energy high, and get great sleep.
If you follow my suggestions, you can be the healthiest you've ever been this year. But you gotta work for it, so your health isn't given to you by a doctor or there's not some magic pill that you can take to improve the function of your brain and your body. You don't need perfect
genes, I mean like a mother and father that are healthy. But what you do need is to alter your environment to make the cells that you do have function at the highest level possible, and make sure you detox, eliminate and get rid of all the bad cells in your body that you don't need. And it all starts with your morning routine. Now what I do is wake up every morning at four twenty. Now when I wake up at four twenty, initially I used to have my alarm clock right next to my bed,
but that's bad because then you could just press the snooze alarm. We don't like snooze. Snooze is the worst thing you could do. That starts your day off with a failurere If you want to be in a bad mood, you press the snooze. If you want to be in a good mood, you get up. You get up quickly. I like mel Robbins who does the five second rule, So she imagines herself like a rocket ship and once that alarm goes off, you go five four, three two one,
and you jump out of bed and you blast off. Now. I spoke to a lady who works to Nasau the other day and she says, actually, rocket chips are very slow, but that's not the point. So even though they're slow, you get the ideas like jump out of bed, do a countdown for the rocket launch five four, three two one, jump out of bed right now. The way I got around this is I put my
alarm clock on the other side of the room. So therefore I got to jump up right away because I don't want to wake up my wife, So I got to make sure I get up turn off that alarm super quick. Now that I'm up, it's easy. It's staying in bed and being able to turn off the alarm that makes it difficult, right, because believe me, it's hard to get up at four twenty. It's not easy. I would love to just stay in bed, but then I'm not putting in the
work. I ever ever woke up early and gone to the gym or worked out and been disappointed, said, you know what, I should have slept in and not gone to the gym. Never said that, not once in my life, but thousands of times I've said, oh, I wish I'd impress that snooze, and I wish I did get up, and I wish I did go to the gym. There's always regret with the snooze. There's never a regret when you go work out. In the beginning, it's hard, but at the end of you're glad you did it. So what I
do every morning I wake up at four twenty. The first thing I do before I even talk or swallow is called oil pulling. And what oil pulling is where you take a bunch of coconut oil, and I like to put a drop of teach oil in there as well, So you get a bunch of coconut oil and then you swish it around your mouth, all around your gums and your teeth and your mouth and your tongue. And what that's going to do is gonna kill off the bad bacteria. So the tea tree oil
and the coconut oil are natural antibiotics. They're gonna kill off all the bad bacteria in your mouth. Do not do mouth wash our mouth rins because that's full of alcohol, and the alcohol is not only going to kill the bad bacteria, but it's also going to kill the good bacteria. And we don't want to sacrifice our good bacteria just to get rid of the bad bacteria. That's why mouthwash is no good. That's why purel is no good. You're
killing off all the good bacteria. That's why anti bacterial lotion and soaps are no good. They kill off all the good bacteria. That's why antibiotics are no good. They kill off all the good bacteria, and they ruin your gut microbiome, which is the good bacteria in your stomach and intestines that helps to absorb your food as well as keep your immune system and check by defeating bad viruses, bacteria, mold, and yeast. Your best defense against bad
bacteria is good bacteria. So if you're using the perel, the antibacterial spread, the antibacterial lotion, the anti bacterial soap, you take an antibiotics,
you're killing off good bacteria. Now, what you want to do is just wash your hands with soap and water, and you could use a good olive oil base, but all you have to do is wash your hands with soap and water like they've always done before COVID nineteen came around, and now everyone's obsessed with all these antibacterial stuff that can cause more problems than the benefit it provides, all right. So the best way to do it and keep your
good bacteria in your mouth every morning is to do coconut oil pulling. You just swish the coconut oil in your mouth for about thirty seconds up to two minutes, you can do it. Don't spit it out in the sink because that'll ruin your pipes, but spit it out into garbage, you know. Don't swallow it either, because that's going to bring more bacteria into your gut. All right. So what we want to do first thing in the morning, before you talk or swallow, is oil pulling for a minimum of thirty
seconds and then spit everything out. Then I'll brush my teeth and I'll add some baking soda as well. Just the mouth holds a lot of bacteria, so we want to really make sure we take care of our dental health first thing in the morning. Now we're gonna go to the bathroom. I'm gonna go pee, I'm gonna go poop. You always want to poop first thing in the morning. It's not good to poop after every meal. That's not healthy. You only need to poop once a day. Every morning, right
when you wake up. Because what you're gonna do is the ideal time is to eat during the daylight hours, which is ten am to six pm. Now, if you stop eating after six pm, now you have all that time to digest your food, to break it down, to absorb the nutrients, to get rid of the bad stuff. All right, So you should eat during the day, and that's when we get our energy. Now at
nighttime, we want to stop eating so we could digest. Then we go to sleep and activate our vagus nerve, which we call the rest and digest. Then we're gonna wake up in the morning and eliminate all the stuff that we did not digest or is not important. So we get rid of our toxins through our urine and through our bowel movements first thing in the morning, only after the oil pulling, right, So you get the oil pulling, then you got your urination, you got your bow movements. Your bowel movements
should be S shaped, that's a normal bowel movement. You don't want to pile, you don't want to log. You don't want thin strands. You want a nice thick log that's S shaped. Nice color, not black or green. Nice and brown, and we also want it to be partial sinking and partial floating. So next time you have a bowel movement, take a look at it and see, hey, is it shaped, is it solid? What's the color? Is it sinking? Is it floating? Is it doing a little bit of both? That is ideal s shaped, brown,
partial sink, partial float. All put together, that's a nice bowel movement. Okay, Now after I have my bowel movement, now I'm gonna do a little bit of reading. I make sure I read a minimum of one page a day, and hopefully it's two, three, four, five, ten page is a day, but minimum at least one page a day. And I have books everywhere. There in the bathroom, so as i'm having a bow I'm reading my one page. They're in my bedroom, They're in
my office, they're in my car. I have books everywhere. They're in the couch, they're in the living room, they're in the kitchen. So if I have a few minutes, I can get a couple of pages in there. And I want books all around so my kids see the books, my wife see the books. I want them to know that's very important to read. People have very low attention span these days, and they stop reading because everything is so quick and their little videos and all the informations on TikTok,
and we have to start reading again. You gotta unplug and not on the kindle. Read a real book. Read my book. You can get my book on Amazon. Welcome back to boost your brain power. I'm your host, Doctor Eric Kaplan. It is my birthday today. We are doing the birthday show and what I'm doing is going over my daily routine that has
made me so healthy. When I was younger, I was not healthy. I was eating Burger King, pizza, ice cream, Entamin's cookies, chocolate cake, Doritos, frosted flakes, cocoa pops. I was a typical American. But the other thing that made me a typical American is I was obese. I was fat. I had bed acne, low energy, poor mood, brain fog. I had chronic bronchitis. I was always sick. My immune system was horrible. My whole first thirteen years of life was really bad.
I was throwing up all the time. It's always nauseous. I had to take this horrible medicine, these steroids, and these antibiotics from my chronic bronchitis, which made me more sick than the actual condition. I was miserable. It was not fun. And luckily my dad saved my life and he took me to a seminar called natural hygiene. He saw how miserable I was, and he decided to take action and say, I don't want my son to suffer anymore. I don't care that this pediatrician is pumping up with medication.
I know that he can heal himself. He had that confidence in me, so he brought me along. I was thirteen years old, and one of the first things I learned at that seminar was that dairy causes long congestion and what did I have chronic bronchitis? And yes, I was in the house with a smoker, so I had secondhand smoke. I grew up every morning spinning out blem always shortness of breath. But after that seminar that my dad took me to, I quit dairy products and within one month I cured
my chronic bronchitis that I had for years. I cured myself, and you can cure yourself. You do not need pills, surgeries, injections. All your healing power is from within. But you have to unleash your body's potential. You have to take care of your brain and your body. You only get one brain and one body in your life, so you have to cherish it. Don't feed it crap. Don't do what I did and eat fast food, burger king, pizza, ice cream, fried chicken, cookies,
and cake. Don't make the same mistakes I did. I had so many years of suffering, but now I'm the healthiest I've ever been in my life, and I would all to my father taking me to that seminar Unnatural hygiene, where I learned to stop eating dairy products. No yogurt, no butter, no cream, cheese, no sour cream, no cheese, no milk. I don't care if it's lactaid, I don't care if it's one percent, if it's whole, if it's organic, you are not a baby.
Milk is for babies, and you are not a cow. Dairy products are for cows. Sheep milk is for sheep, cow's milk is for cows, goat milk is for goats, and human milk is for babies. Only. Babies drink milk because they can't eat whole foods. Yet that's the way the planet is designed. Before the baby can't eat foods, they're supposed to get milk from the mother's breast. But we're not supposed to get milk from another animal. There's no other species on a planet that would ever even think about
doing that. Now, there's plenty of animals that eat other animals. We see that, and when people are on a carnivore diet, I'll help them. There are animals that eat vegetables and fruits. That happens. If there are patients that want to be a vegetarian, I'll help them be the best vegetarian. I don't care what you do. You want to eat meat, eat meat, but I'm gonna tell you to eat the healthy meat. You want to be vegetarian, be vegetarian, but I'm gonna eat you how to
be a healthy vegetarian. You want to be a ketogenetic diet beyond the keto, but I'm going to teach you how to do a healthy ketogenny or a healthy paleo diet, or a healthy Atkins or There's all these diets and books and videos on ways to improve your health. They're all selling a product. Don't complicate your health. Keep it simple. Eat food. That's my plan. Eat food. Eat food from the earth. Anything that comes from the earth, whether it's a tree or a bush, the ocean, the land.
If it comes from the earth, I like it. If it comes from the factory, I don't like it. If it's in a box or a can or a bag. We want to stay away from those foods. If it's organic and fresh and there's no steroids and antibiotics, and it's wild and it's grass fed, and there's no herbicides or pesticides or glyphyside or round up, and there's no GMO, and there's no cross breeding of the seeds and there's no cross contamination, and we like it, think like they did
a thousand years ago. You're gonna be that hunter gatherer if you can hunt it good, if you can gather it good. But there's no such thing as a cereal tree. There's no such thing as a bread bush. Bread is in a bag. Cereal is in a box. Don't eat stuff in box's in bags and cans. Eat it directly from the earth and buy organic so you don't have all the chemicals. Right, So if you want to be healthy, you have to eat real food, real food from the earth.
So when you know people ask me for my birthday, you know what do I want? Do I want a birthday cake? No? I don't want a birthday cake. Give me something real, Give me a fruit platter. I would rather enjoy that. And put a candle in a mango and I'll blow out the candle. I don't care that it's my birthday. I'm not gonna have a piece of chocolate cake on my birthday, because then I might get congested, because dairy products congest my lungs, as does gluten.
Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley. If I want to keep my lungs and not be congested, I have to make sure I'm not eating dairy products or gluten products that will cause bloating, that will cause brain fog, that will cause acne, that will cause obesity. So once I quit sugar and dairy, and I also quit food dyes and artificial flavors, all this candy and junk food and fast food, I quit it all. My acne went away, I grew a foot in a summer. My brain
fog went away. My energy improved, My grades got better, my sports performance improved. Girls started talking to me, the boys, they would make fun of me. You know, imagine you're thirteen years old and you come to school with carrots and walnuts and blueberries while they were all eating sandwiches and TwixT bars and soda. They used to call me. They would make fun of me. They would call me nuts and berries, Hey, nuts and berries. I didn't care, though, because I was performing better in sports,
I got better grades. I was getting more girls than ever. I was feeling more energetic, I was looking batter, I was happier. My mood was good. So you can't call me nuts and berries as much as you want. I am performing at my highest level. And I started getting into honors classes. And then I got into a top ten college, and you know, I lost all this weight and I started making, you know, varsity sports team. I became first singles in tennis and made the state
finals. And now I'm forty six years old and I'm playing basketball three times a week. I played tennis once a week. I play soccer once a week. I go to Orange Theory twice a week. I go to the gym three times a week. I go hiking, I go running, I go biking. I love my life. It's the healthiest I've ever been. But it all started from when I was thirteen years old and I decided to take control of my health. And once I cured my own bronchitis, I
got off the medicine and I didn't need those steroids and antibiotics anymore. And I thought, at thirteen years old that I have this special secret that nobody knows about. But I thought, should I share it? You know, is it worth being made fun of putting myself out there doing things differently?
So I thought about it, but then I said no, God gave me this health, and now I owe it to God, to universe, to my friends, to my family, to humanity, to teach people how to improve their brain and their body without drugs or medicine, so they can function better, feel better, and live a better life more when we come back

Do not press the snooze alarm. You get up early, and you do coconut oil pulling. Then you have your urination and your bowel movement. Then you're gonna read a little bit. Now. The next thing I do in the morning to get my day going is my gratitude journal. And I'll either write it or just put
it on my phone, and I say simple things. I'm grateful, I can see, I'm grateful, I just woke up. I'm grateful, I can hear. I'm grateful I can eat, I could poop, i can pee. I'm grateful my heart works. I'm grateful I have a wife and two kids. I'm grateful I have a house to live in, and I have a car to drive. I'm grateful I can get food whenever I'm hungry. I'm grateful I have clothes on my back and a roof up over my
head, and I can lock my door at night. And I'm grateful I'm in America, protected by the Atlantic Ocean the Pacific Ocean, with two kind neighbors of Mexico and Canada. I have to thank and be grateful every day. I thank the Lord. I live in the suburbs of New York City, and I have access to all this culture and shows and great restaurants and museums and all these amazing people. And every block in New York has a new thing that you could do, and there's always new activities, and there's
always great entertainment and so much culture. It's the melting pot of the world. And I'm just I live just twenty minutes outside of New York City, in a nice house with a white picket fence and a beautiful family, with a great dog, with the grass and the trees and the creek in the backyard. I'm thankful for that. And the more I'm thankful for that, the more good things that come to me, the more success that comes to me. Who do you think is God's gonna take care of the people that
complain are the people that are grateful. The people that are grateful end up becoming more successful, happier. And you gotta be grateful no matter what it is. If you woke up, you have to be grateful. How many people wake up and say I'm grateful to be alive very rare. Most people wake up and say, ah, I gotta go to this job. I don't want to go to I gotta wake up early and get my day going. I could just want to stay here in bed. Most people aren't grateful
to get up early in the morning. You gotta change that. You gotta be grateful because all those people that have died, I guarantee their family members wish that they could just wake up one more time. So every day that you wake up is gold. You know, if I gave you ten million dollars right now, that would make you pretty happy. But if I gave you ten million dollars and said I'll give you this money, but you will not wake up tomorrow morning, nobody would take that money. Because life waking
up every morning is more valuable than ten million dollars. Think about that. If I said I'm going to pay you ten million dollars today, but you cannot wake up tomorrow morning, you would not take it. And if you wouldn't take it, that means you're setting saying that your life is more valuable than ten million dollars. Waking up is more valuable than ten million dollars. So every morning you should wake up feeling like you just got ten million dollars.
You just won the lottery, just by opening up your right eye and your left eye. Be grateful. The reason I am in such a good mood and have such energy is because every morning I write what I'm grateful for. Every morning I exercise. So I wake up at four twenty so I can go to my gym by five o'clock and I will exercise from five to six. So on my day at six am, I've already done oil pulling, I've already had a good bowe movement and detox. I've already read in
my book. I've already done so many healthy things written my gratitude journal. And this is all before five and then before six. Now I just did an hour workout. Now we're gonna have some water, so lay water. So I just worked out, sweat a lot, got to drink a lot of water, two full glasses of solay water, which is filtered water with pink Kimelayan salt, and then I'll give it some flavor. I might squeeze some lemon in there, squeeze some lime, might put some orange sliced oranges
in there, or some pineapple in there. Give it some flavor. But the main ingredients is the filtered water and the pink Kimelay salt, which gives us about eighty six minerals. Now, if you just drink your bottled water a lot of time, you're not absorbing that water, peing it out. I can't tell you how many patients I see that are dehydrated that drink bottled water. So if you drink bottled water many times it doesn't get absorbed because
the environment is more acidic. You need alkaline water and not the quote unquote alkaline water that's the label, but mineralized water with pinkamelean salt, because that's got eighty six minerals. Don't buy the you know, smart water, the alkaline water, the aquafina or the disani or the poland springs or you know those are not healthy waters. Plus you're getting all the plastics that leach into the water bottle. So the average American eats about a credit card size worth
a plastic every day every year. So make sure we stop using these plastic water bottles, start getting a water filter, start using Solai water because we really you know, need to hydrate, you need to drink on an empty stomach. So what you want to do is drink on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, two big glasses. Then you're gonna drink a half hour before each meal. So the best way to get water absorbed is on the empty stomach. So in my morning, after I work out, I'm
having two big glasses of solat water. Then we're gonna do a little meal prep. I'm not gonna eat breakfast till ten right, so we have only eating from ten am to six pm. That's called intermittent fasting. You want to function best, feel best, you want to do intermittent fasting where you eat from ten to six ten am to six pm during the daylight hours.
We eat for energy, so you want to eat when you're doing your work, which is during the daylight yes, if you work the midnight shift, it's a little bit different, but that's not healthy for you, so you might have to switch jobs. You know, some people, we got to get them to switch jobs. The midnight shift is not healthy. You know, somebody's got to do it. But it doesn't have to be you. With your health, that's when you put yourself first, with your health,
because if you're not healthy, you're no good to anybody else. You can't work if you're not healthy. You can't be a good wife or husband, or brother or a sister, or a friend or family member, or employee or boss. You cannot be helpful if you're not healthy. That's why on the airplane they always tell you to put your mask on first. You gotta take care of your health first. And nobody cares about your health more than
you, so you might have to be aggressive. You know, if you need a test done and you call the doctor and they're not calling you back, you call back every day, Hey doc, I can be to call me back. I need to set up disappointment. Don't sit around waiting for your health to come to you. You don't wait till oh my birthday's over. Now I'm gonna get healthy. Oh, let me wait till Valentine so I could eat some chocolate. Or let me wait till Saint Patty's Day so
I could drink some beer. Or let me wait till what's in April at Easter so I can eat the chocolate bunny, Or let me wait till Memorial Day so I can have that barbecue. And you know, it's like there's always gonna be something, whether it's Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, your anniversary, it's your birthday. Every month there's something, so you cannot wait for everything to be perfect. To start being healthy, you have to start immediately.
You got to start today. And maybe that could be my birthday present. So you know, to my listeners, my loyal listeners, I hear such great things. You want to pay me back and you want to give me a birthday present. Start getting healthy today. Do all the right things that I'm teaching you in that morning routine, which is gonna get your system going. Okay, So now we're at six am. Just finish the gym. Now I'm gonna go drive home and I'm gonna listen to a healthy podcast.
It might be about the brain, or it might be about nutrition or it might be about mood stabilization or meditation or mindfulness or physical exercise, or it might be on how to get good vitamin D. Or it might be how to be a good boss or how to be a good husband, or something that's gonna be helpful in my life. So on the way home, I'm gonna listen to something useful. I'm not gonna listen to sports radio or some morning talk show, you know, I'm gonna listen to something that's going
to add value to my life. All right, that's how you do your morning. Don't listen to the news, don't read the New York Times or the Post or the USA Today, don't turn on cable news, don't look
at your social media. I've ever been in my life. So what we've covered so far is the morning routine that's the most important. So in the morning, we're gonna do oil pulling, gonna have the gratitude journal, gonna read the book, gonna go exercise. I'm gonna drink the pink kimelay and salt in the water, the solay water on an empty stomach. Now I'm gonna have to food prep so I don't start eating breakfast till ten am. So I gotta prepare my
food lots of colors. Want to make sure each meal has covered each color of the rainbow, so I get all my nutrients that gives me my energy. I need. Make sure I don't overeat, make sure my brain gets the vitamins and minerals that it needs to function at the highest level. So we want to eat each color of the rainbow. We're gonna store it in glass containers. I'm not gonna put my food in plastic. We don't want that plastic leaching. So when we store our foods, we're gonna put it
in glass or stainless steel. That's how I stay super healthy. Very little plastic, very little aluminum. We can't avoid at all. So you gotta do whatever you can. And it's easy to buy a glass water bottle. It's easy to buy glass storage containers. It's easy to buy stainless steel cookware or stainless steel water bottle or stainless steel food container that doesn't leach into the
food. So I meal prep when I come home. After I drink my water, I'm not eating because it's still you know, around six fifteen six point thirty. Okay, now I'm meal prep. I already drank my water. Now I'm gonna go shower, like to put on some music and sing. That's very good for the brain. It releases and doorphins and serotonin and dopamine and oxytocin. So that's when I'm having fun. I spend a lot of time in the show. I might spend twenty thirty minutes in the shower,
and I'm doing brain exercises in the shower. I'm doing gargling, I'm doing eye exercises, I'm singing. I'm having fun. You know. The shower is a great time. my kids are up. Now it's time to be the dad, be the husband, take the dog out for a walk, sit down with the kids as they eat breakfast, Talk about my wife, make her laugh a little bit, Help the kids if they need any last minute homework or studying for their test. And I walk them to the bus stop with the dog. Then me and the dog. After we drop off the kids, we run home, get the dog, exercise, get myself a little more exercise, and now say goodbye to my wife. Ready for work, and then I
treat my patience, usually from like nine to five. I love working. If you love work, you never work a day in your life, right, So you gotta love what you do, and you're never working. And I have the best job in the world. To me with Parkinson's and I improve their balance and their tremors. People come to me with autism and I get their kids having eye contact and speaking to their parents for the first time. I get people with multiple sclerosis getting them to exercise again. I have
people with stroke that I get out of wheelchairs. I have people with severe vertigo that we fix and migraine headaches where they have to call out of work and they have to stay in some dark room, and I'm able to give these people their quality of life. It's the best job in the world. I literally just get people healthier in natural and holistic ways without any drugs or
