Episode description

An award-winning photojournalist, Mathew McCarthy has been covering Waterloo Region since 1997.
The newspapers he has worked for include the Waterloo Region Record, Owen Sound Sun Times, Hamilton Spectator, London Free Press, and Canadian Press.   McCarthy is also the owner of The Apocryphal Seed Company.   “I've been an amateur gardener in southern Ontario for a good while now and I've decided to give seed selling a go,” he said.   On this episode of Bonn Park with Sara Geidlinger and Marshall Ward, McCarthy chats about photography, storytelling, and his love of flowers, plants, and digging in the garden.    “Being a gardener has advantages when the world goes sideways doesn't it?” McCarthy recently shared on Facebook. “We can leave the noise behind and shove our hands into the earth and think about something other than a virus. It happens to be perfect for someone who is a born social distancer too.”   APOCRYPHAL SEED CO.   MAT MCCARTHY INSTAGRAM   BONN PARK INSTAGRAM
