Transcript

Hello and welcome to Bone Up, the UK's first podcast all about bones and osteoporosis. My name is Professor David Armstrong. I'm a consultant rheumatologist at Alton McElven Hospital in London, Derry. Hi, my name is Dr Richie Abel. I'm a research scientist at Imperial College London, where I lead a group of scientists researching bone tissue and bone health. And I also have the pleasure to teach research skills to medical students.

I specialise in osteoporosis and rare types of bone disease. And over this podcast, I hope to be exploring all aspects of bone health and bone disease from the clinic to the gymnasium, from the laboratory to the community pharmacy, from cellular biology right through to how to chat to your granny about fracture risk. My research team collaborates with clinicians, engineers, physicists, chemists and biologists.

And we are studying why aging and disease make bone fragile and how the treatments that we give restore strength. And in this podcast, I want to talk about the amazing research going on all around the world. We hope you'll join us on our journey through the world of bone health and osteoporosis, and hopefully we'll all learn something along the way. We've lots of exciting people lined up to talk to, and we'd love to hear from you as well.

So if there's anything you'd like us to talk about, just drop us a comment. David and I will see you again in the next episode.
