¶ Beginning the Walk, Bingo's Tired Legs
This episode of Bluey is called Piggy Bat. The healers were enjoying a family holiday and one sunny day they decided to go for a walk. Bluey zoomed ahead on her scooter full of energy, while her little sister Bingo trailed behind, her pace much slower. Nice moves, Bluey, Dad called out, watching her glide effortlessly ahead. Mum encouraged Bingo. Come on, Bingo. But Bingo, already feeling the strain, asked, How much further is it?
We only just left the holiday house, Dad replied with a chuckle. Bingo, looking up with tired eyes, insisted. My legs are tired, I can't go any further. Bluey, always eager to help her sister, scooted back and shouted Bingo, ice cream shop. Bingo's eyes lit up, and together they sped off, giggling ahead of their parents. But when they arrived the ice cream shop was closed. Disappointed, Bluey sighed, and Bingo echoed with a groan.
Dad, ever the teaser, added, If it helps, I wouldn't have bought you one anyway. Bluey, unimpressed by her dad's joke, scooted off while Bingo saw her chance. Dad, can I have a piggy back? she asked hopefully. Nope, Dad replied with a grin. You can walk yourself. We're only going up to the river and back. Bingo pouted. Ah, that's too far Bingo continued to complain, asking if they can drive instead. Mum explained that the short walk is good exercise for the entire family.
Dad, slightly giving in, says, Tell you what, when your legs really can't go any further, I'll give you a picky back. With that promise they continued on, and Bluey tried to lift Bingo's spirits by challenging her to a race. Come on, Bingo, let's race, she called, but Bingo, knowing her sister's speed, hesitated. No, you always win. Mum saw an opportunity to make it fun and offered Go on, Bingo, I'll give you a turbo boot.
With a giggle, Bingo agreed, and soon she was racing alongside Bluey, with mum pushing her forward. Dad, playing along, became the finish line, running backwards and cheering them on, as the girl zoomed toward him. By now, Dad was out of breath and agreed that this walk was good exercise.
¶ Finding Fun in Small Adventures
Between Bingo's complaints, they continued on their walk. Bingo's attention was caught by a line of tiny itchety grubs crawling across the footpath. It's a Nichiddy Grub family, Bluey pointed out. They crouched down, fascinated by the little creatures. But their moment of wonder was interrupted when a mother with a stroller approached. Bingo, worried for the grubs, called out Excuse me, look out for the little ichiddy grubs.
The mother carefully lifted her stroller over the grubs, and Bingo and Bluey let out a sigh of relief. As they continued, Bingo, still feeling the weight of the walk, tried again. Mom, I need a piggy back. I can't walk any more steps. But before Mum could respond, she spotted a pacifier on the ground. Oh, bingo, she said, pointing, can you please run this back to that mummy?
Bingo, always eager to help, picked up the fallen pacifier and ran to return it, forgetting her tiredness for a moment. When she rejoined her parents, she was full of energy again, singing happily. Doot doot. Dad, noticing her renewed energy, teased. Bingo, are your legs still tired? Bingo stopped in her tracks, seeming to suddenly remember her exhaustion, saying Aw yes but then she spotted something new.
Pine cones scattered beneath a tree. Dad, seizing the opportunity, suggested, I wanted to give some of those pine cones to your mum. Bingo's eyes lit up again. Ooh, I'll get em and she was off, gathering pine cones to bring back. Every time Bingo's legs were just about to give out, something fun would catch her attention. A new game with Bluey, a curious sight, or just the simple joy of running after a bin chicken.
But at one point Bingo finally plopped down on the ground, insisting, I need a piggyback. Mum, with her infinite motherly wisdom, said, You know what I've noticed? Your legs don't get as tired when you're having fun. Bingo looked up curiously. Ooh, can I notice that too? Mum smiled. Sure can watch.
¶ The Energetic Gingerbread Man Chase
Gingerbread man! Suddenly, Bingo was up and running again, chanting, run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me. I'm the gingerbread man. Her tiredness vanished as she dashed ahead, giggling. She ran past Bluey, who joined in. Stop, stop, little gingerbread man, you look good to eat. Bingo laughed and kept running past Dad, who was sitting on a bench. Dad jumped up and joined the chase.
Stop, stop, little gingerbread man, I'm a friendly fox. I just want to talk to you. But Bingo was too fast, reaching the riverbank with a triumphant giggle. Dad caught up, out of breath, but smiled. You did it, little gingerbread man. You made it all the way to the riverbank. Well done. Now pop on, I'll give you a piggy back home. Your legs must be so tired. But Bingo, still caught up in the fun game, shook her head.
No, you'll just try to eat me and with that she took off running again, leaving Dad and Mum behind. Bluey, watching her sister's bound this energy, asked, Is she gonna run all the way home? Dad, a bit bemused, replied, Looks like it. Mum, catching up, laughed. Come on, you lot, get after her. Bluey, always ready for another race, ran off, calling back to Dad, Yeah, it's good exercise.
Mum and Dad followed, with Dad admitting, I was gonna give her a piggy bag. Mom, ever playful, jumped onto Dad's back. Well, if there's one going, Dad groaned as Mom jumped on Dad for a piggyback, but his smile revealed how happy he was, knowing that his family was having a memorable holiday simply by being together.
