Growing up I was always confused when I heard the pastor talk about staying humble and striving to be all God created us to be. Seemed to be a contradiction. However, I have learned that staying humble doesn’t mean staying poor, weak, or meek. Actually, it has nothing to do with the amount of success or wealth one achieves, rather it has everything to do with modesty that comes from understanding our place in the larger order of things. Always knowing that no amount of success or riches could ever make us more or less than our fellow women and man.
