A single Best Idea. It is a short podcast around your longer podcast The Wonderful, The Big Take with David Gerr's One Idea, but many other good podcasts, Odd Lots on Fire, Tracy Alloway, she was today, Tracy's got going out to the airport to get the golf stream back to New York. And the Uber drivers listening to Bloomberg Surveillance. I think that's you know, that's the way we roll.

But they were in Washington last night and Odd Lots Tracy Alloway and Joe Eisenthal selling out the theater there in the Southeast District, and you know, that's just wonderful to see that that's out. Odd Lots Out on Bloomberg podcast Today was overwhelming. We could have made a forty minute single Best Idea and you know, had good conversations left over. But we start with Jeffrey You of B and Y. He is wonderful at the correlations of the market.

He's got that LC synthesis that comes out of London School of Economics BNY. And of course talking to him about all that's going on, I did an audible and we're talking about Mario Dragi as technocrat of Italy and the ECB is Mark Kearney now of Canada a technocrad.

Speaker 3

That would be the market characterization. But let's see what else he can do. You can be a technocrat and also a political leader who says these two are exclusive. And Mario Draghi was a political leader as well, so he led Italy for those two years, but of course under a technocratic mandate. So let's wait for the elections to see what the manifesto from the Liberal Party will be. What kind of a mandate he will run under, I assume be quite different compared to what Mario Dragi run under.

But ultimately can he deliver for the Canadian economy? Can he all the German terms restructure the Canadian economy so that it is less perhaps dependent on two way trade south of the border. That will be the challenge for him.

Speaker 2

Jeffrey you of b and Y. There on Mark Kearney of the Liberal Party and now is leadership of Canada. I believe an election coming soon, not announced yet. Robert Hormatz has been a supporter of my work for decades and of course his public service to the nation, working with Secretary Clinton years ago has worked at Goldman Sachs International. He was on fire today about the moment we are living in. He's just back from Paris, where he got

a real earful of what the Europeans think. We had a wonderful, just many, many item conversation, and at the end of it, I just simply said, should Secretary of State Marco Rubio resign?

Speaker 4

Oh? I think that's not an answer to anything. I think Rubio was a guy who has been involved on global strategic and foreign policy issues and is a very reasonable choice for that job. I do think, though, that it's important that he have a strong voice, because I think he does, from his time on the hill and his background, have an understanding of the global system. And I think that's fine. I mean Trump should have a choice, and Rubio is a very reasonable choice for that.

Speaker 2

Robert Hormantz, of course, the Kissinger associates there on the Secretary of State. What a week it's been. We move forward into what will be an interesting Friday. Of course. Shut Down Nathan Dean, thank you so much Nathan Dean in Washington with Bloomberg Government for his work today. He is a surveillance Shutdown correspondent we'll see on that tomorrow across the nation on your commute. Good morning ninety nine

one FM in Washington. Good morning to Tracy Alloway's Uber driver. Also, we should say on YouTube, subscribe to Bloomberg podcasts and on YouTube podcasts it's single best idea.
