In response to his planned twenty five percent tariff on auto parts, Trump stated that if carmakers decide to raise prices, people would just start buying American made cars. Imported cars and light trucks accounted for around half of the roughly sixteen million vehicles

sold in the US last year. JP Morgan Chase analysts estimate that car prices will jump eleven percent on average if Trump implements the tariffs.
