News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I made Klegki send it past a Republican spending plan Friday, averting a US government shutdown hours before midnight deadline. While exasperating a furious struggle within the Democratic Party over how to confront Donald Trump. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and a handful of other Democrats helped the Republican majority overcome a crucial procedural obstacle and pave the way for the

fundings approval. Their actions relinquished what some believed was the party's best leverage to impose constraints on Trump and Elon Musk's mass firings of federal workers and wholesale elimination of

federal agencies. Opponents will have to look instead to the courts. Schumer, a forty five year veteran of Capitol Hill, made the pivotal choice Thursday evening, less than thirty hours before the shutdown deadline, announcing he would drop a blockade of the spending bill rather than risk bleam for an interruption of

government services to the US public. SpaceX launched a crew to the International Space Station Friday, a closely watched mission that would allow Maru to astronaut Wich Wilmore and Sunny Williams to finally return home. The company's Falcon nine rocket, topped with the crew's Dragon capsule, launched shortly after seven pm New York time from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA maintains a continuous rotating presence on the ISS to

help manage the station's operations and research. That means the crew ten astronauts must arrive at the station and go through a roughly two day handover period before the current crew, which includes Wilmore and Williams, can depart. There was another week of losses for the S and P five hundred index. That's four in a row. We get more in this from Bloomberg's Charlie Pellet.

For the week, the SMP five hundred index was down two point three percent, the Dow was down three point one percent, Nasdaq was down two point four percent. But Friday, the two point one percent advance in the S and P five hundred was the biggest since the aftermath of the November presidential election. The moves capped a week of drama that included Trump's on and off again Tara Ruff's recession calls, geopolitical talks, and concerns over a government shutdown

Apple's Topics sancutive overseeing its Seri Virtual assistant told staff that delays the key features have been ugly and embarrassing. In a decision to publicly promote the technology before it was ready made matters worse. Robbie Walker, who serves as a senior director at Apple, delivered the star comments during an all hands meeting for the Seria division, saying that the team was facing a bad period. Walker also said

that it's unclear when the enhancements will actually launch. While speaking at the Department of Justice Friday, President Trump said the tariffs placed on Mexico, Canada, and China will remain in place until the country stopped the flow of illicit drugs into the US. Trump also said the US is stopping criminals pouring across US borders a record levels and

stopping the massive quantities of deadly drugs. Mark Carney has been sworn as Canada's twenty fourth Prime Minister and says he looks forward to speaking with President Trump.
