And now it's time for our daily Bloomberg Law Brief, exploring legal issues in the news. Today, Bloomberg Law hosts June Grosso and Greig Store discussed the possibility the President Trump could rescind the d A c A Program or Deferred Action for childhood or Rivals, which was put in place by President Obama and protects nearly six hundred thousand immigrants. They speak to David Buyer, an immigration policy analyst at the Cato Institute, and Jessica Vaughan, director of Policy studies

at the Center for Immigration Studies. David, before we get into what Trump might do, let's discuss where we are legally. UH. If Texas in the other states did amend their existing lawsuit to go after DHAKA, would they be likely to succeed? I would think they probably would succeed based on the prior rulings from that district cord as well as the

Shit Circuit Court of Appeals. The President or his administration does not have the authority to grant lawful presence to people who are in the country illegally, which is what DOCCA does and UM Ultimately, as a result of that, it's likely that UH, this UH program would end through the court system. We have a more conservative Supreme Court now than we did when they ruled on the program in so it's likely that the Supreme Court would agree

with the Fifth Circuit Jessica. Donald Trump has softened, at least in the press on the issue, at one point tell the Associated Press that the affected young immigrants could quote rest easy. The Department of Homeland Security has continued to grant two year renewable DOCTA work permits. What is Trump likely to do well? I wish I knew um, but he has a number of options. One thing he

could do is too simple. Stop issuing new work permits to people who didn't have DOCCA before, because in effect, what he has been doing is expanding the DOCTA program. What remains to be seen as will he continued to renew these work permits for the people that had them, and that is very questionable also, and it has been clear from the actions of ICE that people who have DOCCA are not priorities for enforcement unless they have committed crimes or been causing some kind of other problems in

their communities. You know, maybe what he should do a lot of people think the best thing would be to give Congress a deadline and say, look, you need to do something in the next six months or all of these people are going to start losing their eligibility to work. That's Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, and David Buyer, an immigration policy analysts at the Cato Institute, speaking to Bloomberg Law hosts June

Grasso and Greg Store. You can listen to Bloomberg Law weekdays at one pm Wall Street Time here on Bloomberg Radio, and that's this morning's Bloomberg Law Brief.
