This is taking Stock with Pim Box and Kathleen Hayes on Bloomberg Radio. This is taking Stock, a special edition of Taking Stock on the Road at the Kimpton Morrison House Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia in the Washington metro area, Bloomberg one and one oh five point seven FM h D two. And you know, Kathleen, I had to learn a little of the geography because particularly for our next guest, who is at the Capitol right now, that's about what

five miles from where we are across the Potomac. Nathaniel Wexel is a reporter for Bloomberg B n A and Nathaniel, Um, you know, I note today that it is wet, it is damp outside, and then it's going to get hot in the summertime. I've I've been in Virginia in the summertime in our nation's capital as well, it gets very warm. Does that have anything to do with House Republicans putting fourth a six d and twenty two million dollar funding bill to fight the Zeka virus. Well, it is just

in time for mosquito season, so it can hurt. So tell us about what's going on right So House Republicans have just put forward, as you said, six hundred and twenty two million dollars in an effort to fight the Zeke of virus UH. And this bill is set to be voted on either tomorrow or Thursday. And it's sort of part of this ongoing effort in Congress as a way to to fight this disease which is mosquito born. And as we've said, it's almost mosquito season here in

the Mid Atlantic. And of course Blue A based in Alexandria where we are now. My first visit to this quaint town, red brick sidewalks and roads, etcetera. So now when I talk to you on during the show, Nathaniel, have a picture in mind of of how where you usually are. Uh. The but your this is a big deal obviously, But what are the politics here? Republicans proposing

one amount to fight z got, Democrats proposing another. Right, Well, it's it's not necessarily democrats, is the Well it is the the White House wants one point nine billion dollars

UH to fight zeke. House Republicans and now come back and said, well, we'll give you six two million dollars and six d two million is going to be offset, and what it means is they're going to be taking money that's uh unused from fighting ebola back in and they're just going to reobligate it and make it so that it can be available for purposes of fighting the zeke of virus in the White House has wanted to

be an emergency request, which means that it's not paid for. Alright, Well, so what's the next thing we should be watching, Nathaniel. What's the next big event or decision or what's the next The Senate is voting on their package today uh and tomorrow, and that package is going to be a compromise. It's going to be one point one billion dollars, it's

what's expected. And then when the House votes on their version either tomorrow or Thursday of six and two million, they're going to have to get together and work it out, because the White House today has come out and said they're going to veto the House package of six and twenty two million if it gets to them. So it's gonna be a couple of weeks before we figure out what happens. But either way, the House and Center they're

gonna have to work to some kind of compromise. Nathaniel Exell, thank you so very much for joining US reporter for Bloomberg b n A, joining us from a Capitol hill after a big vote on the zeke of virus. Thank you so very much.
