The first the latest on the war and President Biden's trip overseas. The President has told NATO he wants Russia out of the G twenty. Bloomberg's Ent Baxter begins our Global Team coverage. President Biden answered the direct question of whether Russia should be removed.

My answer is yes, depends on the um I that was raised today, and I raised the possibility if that can't be done, if Indonesia and others do not agree, then Ukraine should be invited there to witness the proceedings. Biden also said if Russia uses either chemical or nuclear weapons, or response should be in direct retaliation, and says that military supplies are going into Ukraine on a continuing basis. In San Francisco, I'm at Baxter Bloomberg Daybreak. Thanks said,

it is another busy day for President Biden. He's just wrapped up meetings with European Commission President or slav under Lyne. Let's go live to London and get the very latest with Bloomberg's Max Ramsey. Good morning, Max, morning to you, Nathan and John. Yes, we had from President Biden alongside the head of the European Commission Commission as that funderline, in the past hour. The President addressed this new supply deal between the US and European Union announced earlier this morning.

The United States, together with our international partners, we're gonna work to ensure an additional one one fifteen billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas l n G for your this year. So a deal to send US liquefied natural gas to Europe. Remember, up to now Russia has been the biggest supplier of NAT gas to EU nation. So there's an important step in the US efforts to shift their energy policy away from Moscow. Live in London, Max

Ramsey putting back daybreak, Max, thanks very much. The next of file stuff for President Bind's Europe trip is Poland. That's where he plans to meet local officials. Bloomberg's Age Cantrell continues our Global Team coverage from the Humanitarian eight Center near the border with Ukraine. There are going to be two focuses to his meetings here today. Firstly, there's

the humanitarian angle. He's going to be talking about the humanitarian crisis, which Poland has seen the tangible effects of, having accepted two million of the refugees coming over the border from Ukraine. And then there's also the other side, the security side. He's expected to meet with the eighth second abb On here in Jeeshov and there's going to be talked about this effort to bolster the Eastern flank of NATO. Bloomberg Zachie Cantrell says Poland is taking in

the bulk of refugees from Ukraine. It's winning praise for the move, also causing political and economic stress. Ukrainian President vladimir's Lensky john is scolding NATO leaders for not responding to his request for no fly zone. During his late night address to the European Council summit in Brussels, the Ukrainian president asked for more weapons and tighter sanctions on Russia. What do we need for this? Ukraine is very specific

in answering this question. First, to intensify sanctions against Russian aggression on a weekly basis until it stops and restores peace. First. Second, take part in the creation of a new system of security guarantees for Ukraine, for a region real guarantees. President's Lenski also called out Hungary in his remarks, asking Prime Minister Victor Orban to shun Russia and fully support Ukraine.

Or Bon says he will not send support into Ukraine and meantime, there's more concerned about China showing support for Russia. Bloomberg News has learned EU officials suspect that Beijing maybe supplying semi conductors another tech hardware to Moscow. It would be part of an effort to soften the impact of sanctions. Russia and China have denied any request for aid were made or accepted. Other news were following this morning. John keeps us in China, the mystery is deepening over that

commercial plane crash from Monday. All on two people on board the China Eastern Airlines going seven three seven are presumed dead. Bloomberg Stephen Angle has the latest. Well, the latest is that authorities have indicated they have found potentially a piece of the aircraft about ten kilometers away from the main wreckage site, about six miles away, and that

potentially indicates that something came off the aircraft midflight. And the questions now are if that piece was from the airplane, did that cause the plane to go into that nose dive and crash. Bloomberg Stephen Angle reports the flight went

down without an emergency radio call from pilots. Now, let's take a hard turnout to the economy on the market's tenure, Treasury yields this morning down just slightly to thirty five right now on the benchmark, treasuries are on course for one of their worst quarterly rounds since at least the early nineteen seventies, all due to higher interest rates and rising inflation, and markets are looking to the Fed to get things back on track. We've got to take from

former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. It's likely to require significantly greater interest rate hikes than the Fed or markets are now expecting. We need clear signals that we're prepared to accept some slowdown in economic activity if that's the price of reducing inflation. Former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers making the comments on Bloomberg's Wall Street Week with David Weston. Catch the program tonight at six pm Eastern on Bloomberg

Radio and Television. On the corporate front, this morning, John Amazon is facing more pressure from unions targeting its US warehouses. The a f l c i O will help the Teamsters union in its attempt. That would be a rare level of coordination for two groups that have been estranged for nearly two decades. At the same time, workers at an Amazon facility in Staten Island will vote today on

whether to unionize. This is Bloomberg, and he is now six or seven og Wall Street trying to take a look at what's going on in New York, Canada, around the world. Here's Michael Barnes, John, thank you very much. There's pushed back to New York City Mayor Eric Adams dropping the COVID nineteen vaccine requirement for performers and athletes. Unvaccinated players like Brooklyn Nets point guard Kybrie Irving will be allowed inside the arena to play at home games.

There's a duality to what I must accomplish. I must accomplish keeping the city safe, and I must accomplish accomplish recovering all economy. That's a duality. Is out of one size fit all. Mayor adams decision has come under fire from many municipal workers, like police and firefighters, who are still under a vaccine mandate. Critics claim Mayor Adams is favoring elites over ordinary New Yorkers. Harry Nespoli, head of the Municipal Labor Committee, said the city should offer away

for our fired workers to get their jobs back. Don't shut the door on not when they had to come to work, when everybody was running out to the Hamptons and everybody's running up State New York and the only people here were city workers. Nespoli with the Municipal Labor Committee says about four hundred city workers were fired last

month for failing to comply with the mandate. The city's police union released a statement saying, if the mandate isn't necessary for famous people, then it's not necessary for the cops who are protecting our city. Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, sent weeks of text messages imploring the White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to act overturn the presidential election. That's according to several media reports.

The messages came in the weeks after the vote. In November, former President Donald Trump sued Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party, and several others, alleging a vast conspiracy to malign his character and cast doubt on the legitimacy of the election win. New York City's population dropped by more than three hundred thousand in one year, with Manhattan alone losing more than one hundred ten thousand residents as the six point six

percent decline. According to data through July one released by the US Census Bureau, The city was hit by high rates of COVID nineteen infections and deaths, Global News twenty four hours a day on air and on Bloomberg Quicktake, powered by more than twenty seven hundred journalist and analysts more than a hundred twenty countries. They were the top overall seed each of the last two years. Arizona, also a one seed that lost only one game in each of the

last three months. Came in thirty three and three, but Arizona never led against Houston, who won seventy two to sixty. Has a chance for back to back Final four's. Houston Tomorrow in San Antonio takes on Villanova, who ousted Michigan sixty three fifty five fifteen seed in St. Peter's pull off. Another upset the Peacocks and coach Shahina how the way tonight take on Perdue a chance to play in a

regional final. Trying not to think about that, right, I try not to put that kind of fresh on the team, right. We just trying to take it one game out of time. But if that could happen, it'd be tremendous, I mean unbelievable, not just for New Jersey, like just for that try area period. To have a team representing of the eight is some of that you know you think about, don't as a coach, right, It's hard to get to this point. They will have plenty of fans apoard tonight the game

President Joe Biden's visit to Poland as his final stop in Europe this week offers a chance to underscore US commitment to protect a key NATO member on Ukraine's doorstep. Before leaving for Poland, President Biden and European Commission President Ursula vonder Land announced today in Brussels a joint task force to reduce Europe's

dependency on Russian energy. It's the Little University making Big Noise and the men's NZ Double a basketball tournament. Jersey City's St. Peter's Peacocks look to keep their surprise run going when they play for Due tonight. The Islanders won global news twenty four hours a day on airand on Bloomberg Quick Take, powered by more than twenty seven hundred

journalists and analysts more than a hundred twenty countries. I'm Michael mar This is Bloomberg, John Michael, thank you. It's coming up on six twenty Wall Street. We are live from the Bloomberg in Tranto Broker Studios. This is Bloomberg Daybreak. President Biden visiting Poland on his way there now as his final stop in Europe this week, joining us. Now, Aggie Cantrell is live on the Polish Ukraine border with the latest on the situation in Ukraine at the humanitarian

a center there. Aggie, what what will Greek President Biden as he arrives there? What is he going to see today? So um I see it as field web. Biden is going to arrive in Jeschuf, which is a small town in south southeast Poland, which is currently sort of an artery of the whole transport of humanitarian aid and also military aid to Ukraine. Uh And this this small town is going to greet President Biden and also President Duda

of Poland. Um And here Biden is also going to meet with the second airborne that is in the town at the moment. You've told us stories about the refugees crossing over from the border, and what they've told you. Is the President going to meet with any of those refugees from Ukraine. That's unclear as of today. Um. We know that he's doing a humanitarian briefing at the airport and then he's going to meet with the members of the U S military. However, he may do so when

he had to warsaw later at all, perhaps tomorrow. In terms of the signal that this sends, what what can you tell us about that it has been at your front between the Western power is so far right? Yes, it's essentially. His visit here has a twofold significant. Firstly, there is a humanitarian aspect. It comes just as the United States has announced that they will be accepting a

hundred thousand Ukrainian refugees. They know that yesterday from the White House, and obviously Poland is the country that has accepted the majority of those refugees over two million people. That's a significant step for the US to show solidarity with Poland in this on this front. But then also there's the security aspect. Poland shays a large land border with Ukraine and they are themselves very concerned about the risk of spillover of this conflict into their own territory.

And as a native member here, there will be expectations from the Polish side that a Biden's presence here is also signaling a support for Poland's own security as well as support for Ukraine. There's been additional deployment of troops. There is that correct, Yes there has. Indeed, yes there's been, there has been a bolstering of NATO's entire eastern flank,

and Poland is a key part of that. That it also however, applies to places like the Baltic as well, which are also considered have the same sort of security concerns as Poland. And not only that, as I say, this town jeof where I am right now, is also a place which is which is on that supply run into Ukraine. When it comes to humanitarian military aid, give us an idea of just how much in terms of supplies is moving through there and headed to Ukraine at

this point. So I can give you an idea when it comes to humanitarian supplies because earlier this week I was actually at the u n h c R World Through Program depot that is just nearby this airfield, and there they said the reliar this week they'd already chipped out thirty five trucks in order of humanitarian supplies. But just the U n h c R that's been providing that from depot um this place, because it's a it's

one of the airports essentially closest to Ukraine. It's essentially the stop off point um the final point before that the the equipment and the humanitarian aid is then shipped over on land into Ukraine. So this is sort of the last stop for things coming through by air before it then crosses over the border in trucks. Those are the supplies. As far as the flood of refugees is that continuing, Yes, it is continuing. However, it should be noted that there has been a drop off in the

amount of refugees coming into Poland. That doesn't mean that the flows have stopped. But when I was first here several weeks ago now we were hearing of queues of up to sixty hours for people to cross the border. Those waiting times have now diminished significantly for those crossing the border, which is obviously incredibly important because the longer people weighed, especially in cold climates, that is also a

risk to people's security and health. But also we're seeing that once they're there, there has been a better and more streamlined effort on the part of the Polish authorities to make sure that they're not stuck at the border, but then they can transit on with either to larger cities in Poland or on with other places in the EU. Bloomberg's Aggie can trail live with us from the Polish Ukraine border. Aggie, thanks very much for your work. We

appreciate it again President Biden's visit to Poland. He's on his way his final stop in Europe this week, offering a chance to underscore US comma to protected a key NATO member as the war in Ukraine next door continues to rage. Yeah, right now, down futures twenty points higher, smp E many futures, they're up just three points, and

that as their futures unchanged. As we look at treasuries this morning, the benchmark two year, the benchmark tenure right now two thirties X. That's pretty much unchanged the yield. President Biden continues his trip in Europe. This morning, he has met with European Commissioned

President Ursula vonder Lyne. He announced in agreement to boost the supply of liquefied natural gas to European countries. These steps will increase energy security, economic security, and national security. I'm gonna stand up joint task force tomplement these changes and drive progress that will be co chaired by representatives from the White House and the President of the European

Unions Team. President Biden says the agreement aims to help Europe wean itself from Russian fuel in Moscow has been the main focus of the subbody in Europe. Yesterday, President Biden called for Russia to be removed from the G twenty. He also warned lad of Air Putin against using biological, chemical or nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Bloomberg's Maria Today, Oh has more from Brussels. The symbolic nature of the stramp is huge, and yesterday we did get the show of unity.

The President of the United States, Summer I said very well. He said when Vladimer Putting invaded Ukraine, he was looking to create chaos and disarray in Europe. The reality is at this point we're more united than we've ever been, and that was echoed by the Secretary General of NATO who said, at this point where the strongest military alliance and the world, we stayed together, we stick together, we

are going to be safe. Bloomberg's Maria Today or reports Ukrainian President Philadimir Zolinski is asking NATO for more weapons and tighter sanctions on Russia. Well, there's more concerned about China showing support for Russia as well. John Bloomberg News has learned EU officials suspect Beijing may supply semiconductors another tech hardware to Moscow. It would be part of an effort to soften the impact of sanctions. Now Russia and China both denied any requests sir aid were made or accepted.

And another story we're following this morning, the mystery deepening over the crash of the Chinese Eastern Airlines Boeing seven seven. At least one piece of the plane appears so broken loose well before impact. It was found about six miles away from the main racket area, raising questions about the condition of the plane would have nos time from nearly thirty thousand feet. And that's the five things you need to know to start your day, brought to you by

Interactive Brokers. Looking ahead to the market open john SMP futures are up four point, staff futures up thirty three, NaSTA features up fifteen points to ten. Your treasury is up three thirty seconds, the yield two point three six percent yield on the two year two point one five and nim X screwede is down one and a quarter percent, down a dollar forty at a hundred ten dollars cents of barrel local headlines in the check of sports. Next, this is Bloomberg and thanks Nathan six thirty three on

Wall Street. Time to break in Milanchael barn and tell us what's going on to New York and around the world. John, thank you very much. Their New York City unions are blasting Mayor Eric Adams after he exempted athletes and performers, including Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, from the city's vaccine mandate. This after about fourteen hundred city workers were fired last

month for failing to comply with the mandate. Harry Nespally, head of the Municipal Labor Committee, said the city should offer away for fired workers to get their jobs back. Don't shut the door on them, not when they had to come to work, when everybody was running out of the Hamptons and everybody's running up state New York and the only people here with city works. Harry nespile Had

of the Municipal Labor Committee. However, Mayor Adams says it will help struggling performers as well as those vendors and smaller businesses that rely on the city's entertainment economy. We created an unfair disadvantage to New York based performance. I'm correcting that unfair disadvantage, and I'm doing it at the

appropriate time when our numbers are low. Responding to many of Adams, the Police Officers Union, which has been fighting vaccine mandates, says, if the mandate isn't necessary for famous people, then it's not necessary for the cops who are protecting our city in the middle of a rasis. It is a new twist in the ongoing investigation into the January

sixth rioting last year on Capitol Hill. The House Committee is now examining dozens of text messages sent to President Trump's chief of Staff, Mark Meadows from the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Virginia Thomas reportedly texted medals urging him to keep challenging the election results. North Korean leader Kim John Nunes says he's getting ready for a confrontation with the US. Yesterday, North Korea launched its largest

intercontinental ballistic missile, drawing international condemnation. Retired General Robert Abrams, former commander of US forces in Korea, is calling for tough recensions on pyong Yang. The sanctions that North Korea is under today pale in comparison to what the international community has done in very short order to Russia. So we should look very hard at that. Retired General Abrams spoke to ABC. Connecticut Governor Need LaMotte signed a bipartisan

bill to temporarily looked the state it's gas tax. Connecticut will suspend the states twenty five cents per gallon excise tax on gas starting April fers to ease rising costs. New Jersey's Kinnabis Board took its first formal action on recreational marijuana applications. They approved sixty eight conditional licenses to cultivate, manufacture,

or run a testing lab. Global News twenty four hours a day on air, end on Bloomberg Quick Take, powered by more than twenty seven journalists analysts more than a hundred twenty countries. I'm Michael bar This is Bloomberg, John Michael, Thank you, cannasas six thirty six of Wall Streets. Time for the Bloomberg Sports Update, and here's John Stann Show. All right, John, the upsets continue and the n C

Double A tournament and to one seeds went down. Arkansas had never beaten a one seed in the n C double as the razorback beat Gonzaga seventy six eight and then Arizona ousted by Houston sixty four to two. Seeds did win Bova sixty three fifty five of our Michigan and Duke moves On trailed at the half, but against Texas tech Naian's top defensive team, Duke sport forty nine points and they won seventy eight seventy three. Is Duke gonna go to the Final four and Mike Schofski's final

season will find out tomorrow against Arkansas. Vilanova will play Houston and four more Sweet Sixteen games tonight, including Cinderella St. Peter's taking on Perdue in Philadelphia. The Peacocks has been letting the postseason by Doug Eater, and he says they have nothing to lose tonight. There's no pressure at all. Honestly, there's no pressure at all. Um I think that, uh, there's there's nothing to be shared though. There's nothing really

that's different. Now. We've we've been playing basketball this whole season. We've been uh, we had our ups and downs, and we're just gonna look forward to keep executing the game plan and just keep you moved in doing you. Also in Philly, U c l A Plays North Carolina Battle of college basketball traditional powers. In Chicago, it's Kansas against Providence and two double digit seeds meet Miami plays Iowa State. Islanders beat Detroit five to two. Rock Nelson scored twice.

Yankees lost to Detroit five three. Tiger's got all five of Joe Ellie Rodriguez in the sixth name met at three home Rons one by Francisco and Door nine three rout of Miami World Cup Soccer qualifying US in Mexico. As for this time, John stash Our Bloomberg Sports, John, all right, John, thanks a lot. It is now six thirty seven old Walls rating, and it's time to take a look at stocks and some of the names they're moving in today's pre market. For that, we're joined by

Bloomberg Radio and TV Markets corresponded. Critty grouped to we lassoed you before you head out on vacation. You did, and I have to stay to do this report and then you can go, then I can run away. Irish Truman would have my head if he heard you. Cannabis stocks, I think is what's moving, what should get a lot of people's attention this morning. Did you know fun fact cannabis stocks used to be my first beat at Bloomberg when I first started back in the old, good old days.

Video game stocks in cannabis back just pull the pots. What they are there? Pot stocks? Okay, pot stocks, it's just like the gaming industry. No, they're gambling stocks. Fine, fine, pod stocks surging anyway, after a House Panels said that it would consider a bill to decriminalize marijuana, you have the like to till Ray for example, t l R Y is your taker, up thirteen percent in the pre market. Sun Dial is another one. S n d L is your taker up eighteen per cent, So thriving once again.

Policy in Washington actually driving those stucks. You don't see that often. And those Chinese stocks that the trader oversees, what about those? Yeah, well this is interesting and I love talking about Chinese stock because you've seen them lost I think seventy percent of their value in the last year, and recently they had this bounce back because you had commentary coming out of the out of China and the

financial authority. They're saying that that dialogue when it comes to delisting and relisting shares between the U S and China, a legacy of the trade war. Of course. Well, that's actually going in the right direction. Then the US came out yesterday and said, well, don't get too excited. There's a lot of speculation about the positivity there. Um and and it seems like that cold water is continuing to

pressure those A d r s this morning. So you have the likes Ali Baba for example, be a b as your taker down four percent, j D as well, which is also the name of the company, and the ticker down five percent. It's also just following, um, some losses you are seeing over in Asia as well. I get the bed, I get the Bath. What's in the beyond section of these stories, Well, I have no idea, but when I find out, I will let you know.

Maybe Ryan Cohen lives there, I'm not really sure. Um, he is the activist investor who is nearing a settlement at bed Bath and beyond looking that would end up seeing three new directors appointed to the retailer's board, according to people familiar with the matter, That of course is Bloomberg reporting b b B. Why is your taker? Those shares are up just shy of two. All right, thanks Critty,

and uh, can you say where you're gonna go? I am going to the Caribbean, very excited, nic never coming back. Don't say that we only set you up remotely. Bloomberg Radio and TV Markets corresponded Critty Gupta, thanks very much. A look at the broader market right now, not a lot of action. SMP five hundred up just three points right now. to further isolate Moscow after its invasion of Ukraine. The President, speaking before heading to Poland, says as part of the plan, the US and other nations will increase liquefied natural gas exports to Europe. President Biden will be visiting Poland Dance his final stop in Europe this weekend,

following the President in Warsaw. This morning, we are joined by Bloomberg's and Marie Horde. During the president's trip meeting with the Wonderland earlier with the European Commission and also NATO ministers. What's the view right now kind of a subjective question. Is it being viewed as a successful trip at this point, Amory. You know, it's hard to say in the sense that the trips not over right, we're

halfway through. But at the moment, the President did what he had to do with NATO in terms of showing a lot of unity between his allies and partners. I

mean it was back to back to back meeting. Yesterday there was a NATO meeting, a G seven meeting, and the President adjusted the addressed the European Commission, and then this morning what we heard from the President out of Brussels before he heads over to Poland is a new deal or a task force to work on a new deal to try to help Europe lean themselves off of fossil fuelds from Russia. Now we should put some contact

into this. This is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of Europe's energy security and what Europe is trying to do. But it's a small step when you look at what do you s could do. Is they're trying to give the europe fixt dcns of liquefied natural gas. When you take all of the natural gas that Europe imports from Russia, it's just under nine percent of that. So they have a lot of work to do in terms of trying to loosen that grip that

the Clemlin has on Europe. But the President said that this shows more alliance and it's a win win because it brings Europe and the United States closer together. This is something that President Putin certainly does not want to see. This isn't going to happen in the short term, as it is a more long term agreement. Yes, this would take This would take a bit of time for sure, but we should know that there is LMG that goes

from the United States to Europe Already. We did see Germany go over to Doha and trying to find l m G contracts. The issue with liquified natural gas is these are long term contracts. Most of the buyers are in Asia and they have the infrastructure set up to import all this liquified natural gas. Europe is really heavily reliant on typelines like nor Extream one, LRDI Stream two.

The very divers A one would have also helped bring in natural gas that that has been pretty much bench and likely dead anytime in the close to near term future. So this is going to take time. Germany itself doesn't even have ellen G terminals. Potentially they can do some offshore flirting floating terminals to work with other partners in Europe. But you can see how this is a complete one eighty and how Europe thinks about heating their homes and

putting the lights on. Add up the sanctions so far against Russia and Vladimir Putin and to the extent that they're hurting at this point, well, I would say the biggest has been the one pretty much early on in the beginning, and that would be coming off Russians access the central banks, asked access to their reserves. President Putin after the annexation of Crimea, and he was pretty much a vetoed from the West started to build up these reserves for a moment like this, and he doesn't have

access to a large spot of those reserves. Yes, sure. They also John, in the G seven statement they talked about potentually how to cut off now no details yet, but a signal maybe what's to come, how to cut off Russia from selling gold. Russia has the fifth largest a storage of gold, something else they started to build up in the mid two thousand's. This is something that is incredibly frustrating for President Utin. The one area though John that has basically been unscathed is the natural gas

and oil exports. Now oil we have seen many individual self sanctions. If you have to go send a tanker to go pick up Russian oil. People consider that in the market toxic assets, there are two worried a moral standpoints, legal standpoint, potention as we get sanctioned in rout and also it just costs too much a tanker, insurance, more insurance to go pick up this asset is just too great to want to get involved. But natural gas that still brings in millions of dollars a week, if not

a day. The President Putian, but this is something Europe is just not ready to do. His final stop during this European trip, So he'll be coming to Poland, and first she's going to go to a town very close to the Polish border, and Poland has become really the epic center of the humanitarian crisis. Our colleague asy Cantro will be with the President near that border. I'm in Warsaw with the President tomorrow have a bilateral with the

Polish counterpart, President Data and John. If I could achieve a little bit of color of what I've seen on the ground, I've only been in Poland a few hours. We've seen through in the middle of the night, just walking from my hotel about ten blocks. I've seen play paced with Ukrainian flag. I've seen Polish individuals on street corners selling Ukrainian flags. I've seen Polish institutions and looking at a museum right now is gorgeous museum that the

Science Museum, and they put Ukrainian flags around it. You do get a sense that there is a lot of solidarity right now in this capital city for invasion. And Marie, thanks very much appreciated.
