News when you want it. With Bloomberg News Now, I'm Nathan Hager. We are following a fast developing story in the Middle East. A senior White House official now says the US has indications Iran is preparing an imminent ballistic missile attack against Israel. The official, who asked not to be identified, says the US is actively supporting preparations to defend Israel against this possible attack. The official says such
an attack would carry severe consequences for Iran. This comes hours after Israel began what it called targeted ground raids against Hezbala in southern Lebanon. You're Admiral Daniel Hagari with the Israeli military says they had no choice.
These localized ground rates will target Rizbala strongholds. The threaten Israeli towns keep we seem in communities along a border.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari with Israel Defense Forces posted that video message this morning. These ground rates follow days of attacks on has Balla that Middle East expert Julie Norman of University College London says has left the Iron backed militia very depleted.
We estimate that Hezbla has around fifty thousand operatives, but even that number is an estimate. It's been put higher and lower, and they have an arsenal again estimated around one hundred and fifty thousand different types of rockets and
missiles that Israel is trying to degrade. So just to say there's been a lot of damage obviously at that leadership level for sure, but in terms of full operational capacity that still runs pretty deep, and that's Israel's motivation, I think for this ground invasion to try and to try and uproot some of that too, but it's pretty extensive and that's why they've been seen as such a threat.
Julie Norman with University College London, speaking with Tom Keen on Bloomberg's surveillance. Following this word that Iran may be preparing to attack Israel with a ballistic missile strike. Risk assets are falling right now. The S and P five hundred is down about eight tenths of one percent, the Dow six tenths of one percent lower, The NASDAK composite leading the declines, down one point two percent, and haven
assets are catching a bid. The ten year Treasury is of eighteen thirty seconds, the yield down seven basis points to three point seven one percent. The long bond, the thirty year, is down to four point zero four percent. That's news when you want it with Bloomberg News Now, I'm Nathan Hager, and this is Bloomberg
