Continuing our Black History Month theme, this week's episode finds us discussing our favorite POC's in anime. Given the racist past of manga and anime, it is good to see more diversity and well-fleshed out characters in modern times. But we do take time to acknowledge the troublesome characters of the past. Our distractions include Euphoria, YuYu Hakusho, Hisako & R. Kelly, and Voltron.
For our first episode of Black History Month, we discuss black sci-fi. We feel that majority black or POC sci-fi shows are un-tapped genre of television, so we take classic black sitcoms and put a sci-fi twist on them. We also take time to go over some recent nerdy news from videogames and comics. But we get distracted by Star Trek, Sam Wilson & Bucky Barnes, and The Masters of the Universe. What other possible universes could we see in future seasons? But we get distracted by the cartoon Invincible, 90s R&B, Blackula, and mutant reparations. Does the Watcher watch us while we sleep? While we are on the toilet? While we are intimate? These are the important questions.
