Episode description

In part 2 of this book reading, I continue the story read from PLASTIC BLANKETS AND ANGELS. I introduce 3 characters who act as a metaphor to the new, post Apartheid, South Africa. These characters are: the coloured (mixed race) ORPHAN, the black homeless MAN and his white CHILD-sidekick, accomplice. This is an allegory: the new white South Africans must only submit to the new black government once they prove themselves as effective leaders. This situation has left many coloured communities “orphaned”: in the sense that their communities are ignored and looked down upon.
