Episode description

On BIV Today...

Canadians' trust in business and their leaders is waning.

In the last three years, Canadians have come to trust large corporations less, and fewer Canadians trust small- and medium-sized businesses. Critically, the 2019 Proof Inc. CanTrust Index shows that employees' trust in their bosses has fallen 10 percentage points since 2016.

Proof president and CEO Bruce MacLellan (2:19) discusses why trust has fallen, and points out where British Columbians' trust falls below the national average.

BIV's weekly technology panel (16:22) tackles the latest industry headlines, including Slack's financials and Tesla CEO Elon MUsk's new guidelines for using Twitter.

Ali Pourdad, CEO of Progressa, shares why he thinks Amazon's latest earnings report - which showed slowing revenue growth - is just a blip, and not a sign the company is slowing down.

Linda Fawcus, founder and CEO of Gluu Technology Society, examines Walmart's Intelligent Retail Lab, and argues why it's different from Amazon Go's cashier-less store.

Hayley Woodin hosts, see more at https://biv.com/.
