Bitcoin Rapid-Fire

John Vallisbitcoinrapidfire.com
Bitcoin is the future of money, that is my firm belief. I use this show to learn more about this phenomenon, and its various implications, from some of the brightest minds in the space, and beyond. I'm not trying to educate or inform anyone, I'm sharing my own journey of attempting to understand bitcoin, and delving in to some of the less obvious, but incredibly profound, aspects of its emergence in the global culture.

@Croesus_BTC: Bitcoin and the Technology Adoption Life Cycle - Where are we now?

@Croesus_BTC is an anonymous account on twitter who released a thought-provoking analysis of bitcoin's growth and adoption, through the lens of a standard technology adoption curve, with comparison to specific historical examples. Interestingly, a key component of bitcoin's architecture, the 4-year reward-halving cycle, was used as the length of time for each standard deviation of the proposed adoption curve. The halving cycle has been used before, most notably in the well-known 'Stock-to-flow' ...

Gene Epstein Round 2: Calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI) & the Effects of Money Printing

We exist in a time of unprecendented government spending and expansion of central bank balance sheets. This is a nice way of saying 'money printing'. The myriad negative impacts of money printing are becoming increasingly understood by people around the world today, but assessing and measuring those effects remains a contentious issue shrowded in complexity. The CPI is the metric used by governments around the world to 'measure' inflation, and many believe it does not accurately reflect the true...

Bitcoiners in the Wild: @HodlerThanThou

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been recording daily live-streams with random bitcoiners. If I have an hour or two, I post on twitter to see if anyone would like to hop on a stream, and I go with the first DM that comes in. In today’s episode of what I’m affectionately referring to as ‘Bitcoiners in the Wild’, I sit down with Sir Badminton of Bitcoin (@HodlerThanThou), for a discussion about his Citadel in rural France, the background that led him to bitcoin, why bitcoin seems to influence behavio...

CTRL PEW: The Latest on the 3D Printed Gun Revolution

Ctrl Pew is an expert in the realm of 3D printed guns. I think at this point everyone has heard the term, but relatively few people are familiar with the state and development of the technology. I was recently surprised to learn how quickly it was evolving, so I thought it was finally time to speak with someone who could explain it all to me. 3D printed guns, like bitcoin, represent a tool for establishing greater self-sovereignty, and so I thought a deep dive into the subject would be appealing...

Bheki Mahlobo: Bitcoin in South Africa

Bheki Mahlobo is a student at the University of South Africa, majoring in economics. He was recently featured in the documentary “Banking on Africa: The Bitcoin Revolution", on Amazon Prime Video. I’m very interested in how bitcoin is both perceived and used in different parts of the world, and had not yet spoken to anyone in South Africa about it, so I thought Bheki would be the perfect one to fill me in. Enjoy! -- More from Bheki: TWITTER: https://twitter.com/mahlobo_bheki DOCUMENTARY: https:/...

The Bitcoin Renaissance - Internal Change

This episode is a recording of a panel I recently hosted at the 'Value of Bitcoin Digital' conference. In nearly all of my conversations, my guests explain how interacting with bitcoin has changed their behaviour patterns, often in fundamental ways. On the surface, this seems like a curious phenomenon, however once you begin to understand how the money we use affects our behaviour, it begins to become more clear why this occurs. However, this topic does not often get discussed at conferences, as...

Erik Cason: Bitcoin is Messianic

I was recently listening to the Citizen Bitcoin podcast (one of my favourites) and Erik Cason was the guest. I was enthralled by how Erik was articulating so many profound thoughts, strung together one after the other, in an extremely open and genuine manner. As soon as the interview ended, I was super excited to have my own conversation with Erik, so I DM'd him on Twitter and invited him on the show. Thankfully he obliged, and we had an awesome 2-hour conversation about some of the deeper philo...

He is also the Co-Founder and General Partner of Morgan Creek Digital Assets, an experienced entrepreneur with a $500 million exit to his name, as well as a prolific angel investor. I'm extremely excited by the potential for bitcoin mining to revolutionize the energy industry, so I invited Jason to come on the show to discuss the r...

In his writings, Emil has highlighted many of the irresponsible and reckless treatments of money in past era’s. Of course, we are in another era of extreme manipulation and destruction of the main money in use around the world (fiat money), so I thought it would be interesting to have Emil on to explore some of the comparisons between now and the ...

Zuby: Bitcoin Just Makes Sense

Zuby is a rapper, author, coach and all-around free-thinking individual. He’s not afraid to speak his mind, nor change his mind if new information or perspectives dictate it’s rational to do so. These qualities always draw me to people. It reflects a mind that is open to learning, and not overtaken by popular ideologies or socio-cultural narratives. I’m even more intrigued, when such a perspective leads people to discovering and seeing the value in bitcoin, and this is exactly what happened with...

Explaining Bitcoin to Traditional Investors

This is a re-publish of an interview I did on ‘The Canadian Investor’ podcast last week. I decided to share it here because I was curious to see if it would be a good resource for people who have not yet begun their journey down the proverbial bitcoin ‘rabbit-hole’. The two hosts come from a traditional investing background, and are not very familiar with bitcoin. However, they were receptive to what I was saying, and it seemed as though by the end of the discussion they were much more intereste...

Maxime Bernier is the leader of the People’s Party of Canada. As a result, he formed the People’s Party of Canada, grounded in the principles of freedom, responsibility, fairness and r...

Jeff Vandroux: Economic Populism, Distributism, and Why Bitcoin Won't Save Capitalism
