Welcome to the 2025 Sundance Film Festival! This week we're going international with two films that are an homage to their homeland.

Vox Humana is a beautifully stylized short film about an eccentric zoologist that gets hired to communicate with a naked man found wandering in the woods after a major earthquake. Director Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan and producer Hannah Schierbeek share the importance of indigenous Filipino stories being represented in cinema, the disconnect between modern living and the environment, and how they were at the mercy of mother nature in the Cordillera mountains.

Rains Over Babel is an exciting feature length film that brings Dante's Inferno into a tropical steam punk world inspired by Cali, Colombia. Director Gala del Sol shares her love of Latin American magical realism, being able to create the queer film that she always wanted to see, and meeting with an exorcist priest during the pandemic.
