Now here's the man who's been recognized as radio's best, the recipient of not one, but two prestigious Marconi Awards for his broadcast.
Excellence, the one and only Bill Cunningham.
Not Billy Cunningham, the great American from the fridge at Midwest to the fiery coast of California, all Hell's break and lose. I can't imagine a resident being handed a worse menu of problems this side of Abraham Lincoln than that given to Donald Trump in about what eight days? The trump'say is gonna take over the only hope I have when I talk to my friends like Wally and Robin in Florida, I speak to my buddies like Chris and Louisiana, or I speak with Paul and Idaho. Help
is on the way, I think. But the menu of items given to Donald Trump right here is I can't imagine a worse circumstance here and around the world. What's happening, and I think it's gonna get worse before it gets better over the next four or five days. What's happening in Los Angeles was the most predictive catastrophe in the history of mankind.
You knew it was gonna happen.
You see, Los Angeles was built in a desert, in a grassy field. The whole area is not meant for human habitation, and should not be any human habitation between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains because it isn't meant to be that way, despite those protestations of Mother Nature. When you build in a desert in grasslands, it's been done the past one hundred years, and every year or two some worse than others. It was worse
than the nineteen fifties and it is today. Of course, it's been seventy five years since then that the Santa Ana wins blow one hundred miles an hour, and that sparks take place. And I'm very suspicious when people are arrested kind of walking around with blow torches. And Wayne Allen roots coming up later. I read his column about is this terrorism? Since the way of burning down or destroying the largest metroplex in the United States of America.
Maybe there's about twelve million who only live in Los Angeles County. The metro area is close to twenty million people, and right now it is offline. It's awful, it's terror and there was a confluence of several events. Number One, Mother Nature once again showed herself and despite the protestations a FEMA director, she was on Face the Nation this morning, a woman named Chris Well. She said, quote, I think LA was very prepared for this, and I'm thinking, Administrator,
if this is good preparation. Hell, I don't want to see bad preparation. If this is good, because she's a left wing radical Democrat who ignores the good folks of North Carolina and the folks in the Panhandle of Florida, and cares deeply about Los Angeles. But when I watched this morning the San Anna wins, even Brennan, the so called journalist in charge of Face the Nation, asked a question to the effect of are you concerned about the lack of preparation by Los Angeles officials? She said, quote,
I think they were very well prepared. They've never seen one mile prior winds that are fueling this far, Yes they have. It's happened a lot. Now it shouldn't happen a lot. It's rare, but it happens if those in charge were good stewards of their city and they knew essentially what was going on, if they had the correct planning for this, which was predicted, if they had management handled, and if they had leadership as the fires are starting, none of most of this could have been avoided by
any fair estimate. But here's a little secret. There's certain principles that have torn us under the idea of electing someone better to do a job, or someone who is competent, someone who is not, shall we say, of a certain race or color or sexual orientation, but someone.
Who has the merit to do the job.
There's nothing in the background of Mayor Karen Bass that would indicate she had any cop and see whatsoever to become a mayor. She had been a congresswoman for a long time, advocating certain things, including punishing Senator Ted Cruz of Texas for going on a vacation while there was some cold weather in Dallas, and she issued several tweets that leadership must be present when these catastrophes occur and Ted Cruz to his credit respondent and came back home.
But nonetheless, a US senator has lied her operational control of what's happening in Dallas or Houston. On the other hand, Karen Bass has complete control of Los Angeles and the obsession in left wing havens like New Orleans, in Minneapolis and Chicago and New York and Cincinnati and Atlanta and Washington, d C. With left wing politics. There's five or six
cardinal rules about politics. If you're a Democrat. Number one, you have to be right when it comes to woke DEI diversity equity and which means excluding white males who are straight.
Make no mistake about it. When all the news conferences.
Were had over the past one or two years and the mayor Karen Bass picked leadership in the fire department, she picked leaders who had shalways say, a different sexual orientation than none myself, and they picked someone who fit a category much like Kamala Harris was picked not because she was competent, but because she was a black female. According to Joe Biden, he was looking for a black female and Karen Bass, believe it or not, was second
on the list behind Kamala Harris. And for those who think this is a racial or sex matter, it is not. Who's more incompetent than the Denver mayor Mike Johnston, who's a Democrat in Denver. Who's more incompetent than Jacob Frye, white male from Minneapolis who watched his city burn down, watched the Rioters take over a police station, just watched it burn down, still not and build up. So the fact of the matter is you don't have to be white or black, a or straight to be incompetent. You
simply have to be incompetent. I think of individuals like Richard Grenell, who's homosexual and he was Trump's acting DNI designate. I think of dearly departed Herman Kane. I think of Jesse Lee Peterson. I think of many others. I think a condo Liza Rice, all of whom shall always say are African Americans, but all of whom are competent. There's nothing about race or general that makes you competent or incompetent. It's what you've done in your life is a person
that makes you competent or incompetent. And there's nothing in the background of Karen Bass to indicate that she was competent to run a city with a budget up to US several billions of dollars. They spent the money on homelessness. They spent the money on DEI principles, hiring individuals based upon sexual orientation and not competency. They spent the money on needle exchange programs. They spent the money on illegal aliens. They spent the money on not prosecuting smash and grab
robbers of every description. So by the time it was necessary to do the things basic to a city, money was not available. So she cut the fire department by seventeen million after Gavin Newsoon cut the state contribution to the fire department by one hundred million dollars. It didn't fit, shall we say, the idea of DEI in climbate extremism or homelessness, or firing firefighters that wouldn't take the vaccine seven hundred were fired, or open borders and fueling the
illegal rise in this country. I could not imagine living in Los Angeles before this particular fire came down from the mountains the Santa Ana Wins and destroyed large sections there. The taxes are confiscatory, the rules and regulations take five to ten years to build a home, the income tax, state income tax of fourteen point four percent, the city income tax, the real estate taxes. I have a guest coming up later to talk about rider truck rentals go
in one direction, which is out of California. People can't take it anymore. And despite the protestations of those via North Carolina or Montana, California likely is our most beautiful state, ruined by left wing radical democratic politics and extreme climate ideas that have put into the air right now the largest particulate matter since there was a volcano in Mount
Saint Helens about thirty five forty years ago. Think how how ironic is it that I watched this morning the interview of Gavin Newsom and he said, quote California leads the nation in environmental stewardship. That's what he said, They lead the nation in stewardship. I'm not going to give up on that. But one thing I won't give up on is delay. He's going to issue some executive orders. I set them meet the press that we're going to expedite the building process. The building process, are you kid?
According to the experts? Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, and maybe as bad as it was a week ago. I can't help but notice the irony and Gavin Newsom's claim that quote California leads the nation in environmental stewardship unquote. Right now, the Golden State is spewing trillions of tons of particulate matter into the atmosphere, so much so that residents can't breathe, the water system is being contaminated, and the smoke can be seen from outer space. And they lead the nation
in stewardship of the environment. Are you kidding me?
No, they don't.
Their policies help to bring about what is occurring, and it's occurring in an area and that is a desert and an area that should not be built whatsoever, but it's built. So then if you do that, much like in Florida, which has many hurricanes, when you build near the coast, those lots of things you better do to get ready. Those things include the right building code and
also the attendance of a competent stewardship and management. When there were hurricanes hitting Florida, the evacuation routes were known. We knew exactly whether hurricanes were going to hit. Quickly, groups got in there and took care of business. And a hurricane in Florida generally is not a catastrophe as it was fifteen twenty thirty years ago. And it's sad to watch the great state of California devolve in the chaos because of the stewardship of liberal Democrats of which
the current leadership is only a part. Now, I've heard some say, well, wait till Trump takes over on the twentieth, what eight days from now, and he'll.
Take over Los Angeles for what reason? For what reason?
What can he do sitting in Washington, d C. That the locals themselves have not done. Look at the problems, they're incredible. Number one is the lack of stewardship of what was going to happen. All the reservoirs have been drained. In fact, in twenty fourteen, the citizens in California put up seven point five billion dollars to build more reservoirs.
But what happened is the governor said no. In fact, the governor four or five years ago destroyed three dams because they were affecting the spawning habits of the shmeltfish and also salmon. He destroyed the dams and did not build the reservoirs, And there was other water retention facilities to the tune of trillions and gallons that were left dry the last several years by the incompetency of those in charge of water in Los Angeles County and the fire department. And it goes on and on and on.
Wildfire alone is not destroying Los Angeles. And make no mistake when I hear good words being said, we're going to build better the next time, We're gonna build quickly.
No, it's not. Whenever you sit.
Down at the house closing, the first thing said, do you have your insurance policy with you? And if you can't ensure the property, the bank is not going to loan you money unless you're rich. Unless you're rich can put pay cash for property. And of those areas, it's millions and millions of dollars. You have to bring an insurance policy. One report said not because most of the insurance companies have pulled out of Los Angeles. That's seventy percent.
And some zip codes do not have homeowners insurance because they don't have a policy to buy even if they could spend fifty or one hundred thousand dollars a year for a yearly premium. Guess what, insurance companies, why not write policies in certain zip codes because of the prevalence of these fires, Santa Ana wins, especially this time of the year. So if you add the cost, and where do you go to find twenty thousand homebuilders? I'm talking
twenty thousand. What about the schools and the restaurants, the coffee shops, the grocery stores, They're all gone, they don't exist. That this is something because of the incompetence of Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom and many others. It's going to lad for a decade or more. It will not be the same. It's not coming back for a long time, which will destroy the tax base in Los Angeles and the tax base in California, which borrows fifty billion dollars
a year to meet their state budget. And guess what, I doubt the FEDS are going to step up and say we're going to handle the problems of your inadequacies. We're not going to do it. It's sad, but it's the way things are. It's not about race or gender, because there are white male mayors of the Democratic Party like Jacob Pry and Mike Johnston of Denver and Minneapolis, respectively, who believe the same philosophy as Karen Bass. When when the main qualification for your job is your skin color
or your sexual orientation, it's over. It's done, it's not going to work. You need merit based promotion, and no one should be hired because of the color of their skin nor the kind of sex they enjoy. But that's what happens in almost every major Democratic city. You can't
apply for work, much like New Orleans. I had on last week the experts from New Orleans who said that Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the chief of police that looks like a character from the Beverly Hillbillies are completely incompetent, but they were hired. They were hired first, and then they were retained and then voted into office because of the skin color. When you vote by skin color and not vote by merit, that's the heart and soul of
the modern Democratic Party. When Joe Biden said I'm going to find me a vice president who's a black female, there was like two qualified Karen Bass and the best was Kamala Harris. And if that's the way you picked your candidates for a high political office. My god, are we in trouble? And lastly, this is from the New York Times. I read these things so you don't have to have a headline From January the twelfth, a couple of days ago. Before taking office, LA's mayor said she
would not go abroad. She was noted for travel when she was in the Congress. She would try travel all over Hell's half acre. She went to Africa six to seven times a year. She made seventeen trips to Cuba to communist regime of Fidel Castro and his brother. She told the New York Times she would not travel if
she was the mayor. She quickly broke that promise and has made many trips overseas on taxpayer expense to get more perspective on how to operate a water system in La, which she has not done well.
Let's continue.
I want to get your reaction and where do we stand as an American taxpayer? Do you think we should bail out Los Angeles and New Orleans? Do you think we should spend hundreds of billions of dollars to build back better in Los Angeles until they change their ways? Do you help a part of the country that will not help itself. Well, let's continue line becomes available eight sixty six six four seven seven three three seven Bill cunning and the Great American with you every Sunday night.
And I would note that about two hours ago, sources from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement told Fox News on Sunday night that a suspect has been arrested for setting some of the fires called the Kenneth Fire. He was arrested. There's video of him with a blow torch. Sources from I say his name is Juan Manuel Sierra Leva. He's
a Mexican national. The suspect one viral left of social media video showed a group of Good Samaritans subduing him near the Kenneth Fire while he was holding a blow torch. The suspect is in custody on a probation violation, so he did something else illegal. Mexican should not be here with a blow torch. And I says they will put a detainer on him so that when LA releases him
for no particular reason, the ICE has a retainer. Of course, because LA is a sanctuary city, they do not honor ICE retainers, so it is hoped that he's not released before noon a week from tomorrow. But one knows that we have thousands of terrorists in this country. We have hundreds of known terrorists who are on terror watch lists. We have thousands of Mexican nationals. How easy it's been to cause complete havoc in America's largest, most populated area,
Los Angeles County and surrounding. And this illegal immigrant has a blow torch near where the fire started. And there's five or six different fires started almost simultaneously at different parts of the county, in different parts of the area, which indicates how's that possible they all started? Was it the San Ana Wins blowing the embers or was it something else? And I would note that Wayne Allen Root, my friend, will be here in about thirty five minutes.
I want to bring this up to him about possibly how easy it is to bring down American society, especially in relationship to what FBI Director Ray said on his way out the door and his exit interview in sixty minutes that the Chinese have implanted malware in every critical juncture of the American way of life, from the water system, the phones, to electric electrical grid and more. And we are so vulnerable. Think of the menu of problems that Donald Trump has as he takes office in eight days.
Unbelievable Mexican illegal arrested with a blow torch. Pill Cunningham with you every something, Billy cunning in the Great America. And I would note the FBI Director Christopher Ray appeared on sixty Minutes kind of like an exit interview in
which he said something that made some sense. He often doesn't, but he said that quote, the Chinese government is pre positioning on US civilian critical infrastructure to lie in wait, in those networks, to be in a position to wreak havoc and inflict real harm on the United States of America at a time and manner of their choosing, including drone technology if you seen any drones recently, the ability to run water, to conduct to our electrical appliances, cell phones, businesses, military,
They have millions and millions of bits of malware all over this country that they have prepositioned to cause havoc. You see how simple it would be for an legal migrant from Mexico with a blowtorch to cause absolute havoc in La And what he said send a chill down my spine because we're completely unprepared for any of this
the last four years. This is one of the worst things that Biden Kamala Harris did not do is look out for our interest when it comes to Chinese malware and also drone technology and also spy balloons flying all over the country on a regular basis from China.
This is utterly ridiculous.
I want to get your calls and later on we'll set up tonight's big show and if the line becomes available eight six six six four seven seven three three seven, let's go to Lindsay and Texas first. Then calls from Arkansas and Florida and North Carolina and Lindsay and Texas. Welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show. And Lindsay, how are you.
I'm pretty good, Bill, thank you for taking my call. I could be better. I'm very saddened by what's happened to these people. I'm more saddened to those who didn't vote these people in office a few years ago.
I know.
When they tried to recall the governor, right and that failed. So stupidity sins, not common sense, which is what Donald Trump talks about. So where you have the Red States there's common sense. Where you have the Blue States, there's stupidity.
If you take California, takes your call.
How about every major American city controlled decades by liberalism. It's not black or white, or gay, whatever, it's a philosophy of liberalism. And when that philosophy is given long enough time to seep into the body politic, into the groundwater. There's not one great successful American city doing well under democratic, liberal, progressive rule.
You can be a.
White male, a black female, black, lesbian, married guy with three kids, whatever it is. It's the philosophy of progressivism. Liberalism destroying American cities like it's destroyed every city or state in the world it's ever touched. It's not about race or gender or sex. What it's about is a philosophy. And I look at LA with all the advantages they have, and the characters come and go, but the electorate remains.
What makes you think that when Karen Bass and Newsom leave the scene, that Californias are going to pick a better leader.
I don't think they are.
I don't think so, because they are.
Who they are and they can live with what they get. I mean, they're four hundred million dollar homes burned.
Live with it.
You got the money, live with it. The other people you know, come to Texas, come to Florida, go to South Dakota, North Dakota.
Beautiful. Yeah, just get out.
Beautiful places and you don't have to live with these people that try to drag you down. Take all your money, put it in their pockets, and we don't even know where it goes. There's no accountability for it. What have they proven that what they've done with it.
I'll give you an example, lindsay, about two years ago, there was a huge tax increase in order to handle the homelessness problem. There's seventy five thousand homeless living on the streets of Los Angeles, urinating, defecating, fornicating. There are sidewalks taken over by homelessness using drugs, kids walking over feces to go to school. And so the state of California agreed to spend one hundred billion dollars. Now, that is a boatload of money to solve the homelessness problem.
Guess what, it's worse now than it has ever been before. Give you another example. Three or four years ago, the Congress passed under the Democrats, this wiring up of America. That is to have these electrical power stations all over the country.
For the EVS.
They gave forty billion dollars in order to have literally one hundred thousand EV power stations all over the country. So far there's been twenty built, and half of those don't work. Having spent the money, we have no results. So government activity that doesn't solve a problem, it can't exacerbate it. And lastly, lindsay, imagine being a kid growing up in Los Angeles going to school as a first grader. You've got to run an obstacle course to get to class,
and when you get there, you're taught DEI. You're taught what's wrong in this country, not reading, writing, and arithmetic. You're taught all the evils of the United States of America. And that's how you're indoctrinated. So when you get to be a voter, you think Karen Bass makes sense. You think Gavin Newsom makes sense because you don't know anything different. And lindsay, if for those who say, okay, let Donald Trump, let them take over California, what the hell are you
talking about? Do the Californians want that? When they start voting for constitutional conservatives to run their governments. I'll start believing in it. But it's been about thirty years since Arnold Schwarzenegger. It wasn't much of a Republican anyway, was the governor. And it's been thirty years since a Republicans controlled city council in Los Angeles. It doesn't exist anymore until they help themselves. Why should we help them?
Tell me if I'm wrong, But have we not all the time bailed them out? I know Texas, you know.
We balance our budgets.
We have money. We got to give it to California. And if you don't think that takes us off, it does. And I'm sure it takes every other state off. That they screw up and they waste their money and they know that it's a sham, and then they take our money. It's our money.
Well, I tell you, Lindsay, people are voting with their feet. There's one way out of California. Get down too, Las Vegas. Get into North or South Dakota or Montana. I think those individuals, but don't bring your politics with you.
I know.
Sean Hannity, my good friend got to New York City, got onto the east coast of Florida, and he's begging those who flee New York, do not bring your politics with you, because they have failed. And right now it is a fail state. It is beyond repair. What's happened in Los Angeles because of the failure of its politicians
is beyond repair. And until they say we're gonna change our way, when Gavin Newsom can actually say to Karen bass Man, you're doing a great job, when the director of FEMA can say that Karen bass is doing a great job, and the fire department is doing a great job, and they need more money. They want to rebuild. What to rebuild in an area that's basically a desert? Why rebuild in an area where you can't find builders of homes? They got to build twenty thousand homes, and you've got
to show up at the closing. You've got to bring your insurance policy with you, whether it's all state or State farm or Fireman's fund. They're all dumping out of California. They can't take it anymore. And therefore without insurance, you cannot build a home. And it takes five years to build a home. Anyway in California, be goes the rules and regulations.
It is a failed city state.
They're just gonna burn down again because not going to change their way.
You have to you have to have you have to you have.
To sign of the forestry.
Can they have water resources like tru plenty?
They have plenty, but not if you not if you destroy the dams, not if you don't use the money to build more water retention systems. I mean, there's trillions of gallons of water every other goes into the Pacific Ocean. Save the water for when you need it. But they're they're encapsulated with DEI, discrimination, homelessness, drug use, cross genderism, all that stuff. And in reality, uh, they're not using the money basically to make the lives of average Angelinos better.
What they're doing is spending it pursuant to liberalism. Same thing happened in Minneapolis, Same thing happened to my hometown of Cincinnati. We used to have five hundred thousand people in Cincinnati. We now have three hundred thousand. The schools you cannot attend the schools, they stink. There's not much lawlessness because we have a pretty good sheriff here. But let's face it, right now, every major American city is similar to Los Angeles and governance, and that's got to stop.
We got to run. Thanks for your call. Let's go to uh, let's go to Rick and Indy. Rick in Indianapolis. Welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show.
Rick. How are you.
I'm blessed, Professor Cunningham.
How are you? Well?
I'm doing my best. But Trump.
Can you imagine a president with these problems coming into office in the media getting ready to attack Donald Trump because of California.
They're getting ready.
Now, They've already been doing it for quite a while, and they just have to find anything they can do to try to tear him down and give us a bad attitude about everything. And you know that's just unfortunate for these people.
To do that.
Well, I'm just telling you we got problems.
Oh yeah, I wouldn't want to be president.
No, thank you.
He's got Whether whether it's Ukraine, the Middle East, North Korea, China puts malware over every computer system in this country, whether it's a southern border, whether it's what's happened in Los Angeles may get worse the next two or three days, whether it's a such a deficit of two trillion dollars a year, the fact that the ten year notes rising, which means rates rise, mortgage rates rise, which means LA is going to be off the market for years to come,
which will be a tax loss that Sacramento will ask Washington to paper over. Practically every urban public school in America cannot be attended because they're so bad. We have defund the police movements everywhere in DEI, which isn't based upon merit, based upon skin color and sex, which is ridiculous. Karen Bass got the job and was elected because she's a black female and not because she's competent. And Gavin Newsom got the job and he's incompetent. He's a white,
married male. So it's not about your sexual orientation, it's about your incompetence.
You know what I'm saying, Yes, sir, I do.
And I grew up in California as a young man, went to the public schools. It was beautiful, We enjoyed it, but you couldn't pay me to go back there. Now. It's just a complete and total rick, and has been for quite some time.
What changes Because I've heard some commentators say, well wait till Donald Trump gets in office. What the heck can he do about Chicago, Austin, Texas, Atlanta, Memphis, San Francisco. By the way, there's more dogs in San Francisco and kids in the public school system in San Francisco. There's more abortions black babies a board in New York City than black babies that are born because of the abortion pill. And look, La, what can Trump do about any of that?
When the residents don't want to help themselves? What can the Trump's to do?
Well?
Thank God, he likes to work. Yeah, and our current president has only been there maybe a third of the time. And it is that And I know that I have hope in Trump that he's not going to sleep easy at night until he solves some of these issues. And that's why I voted for him and the people around me. And you know, I run a street ministry here in Indianapolis, and I'm dealing with the people that are less fortunate.
But it's something that we all agree with that at least he's going to work and he's not going to stop until he does something.
You know, Reverend, I know Joe Biden is mentally incompetent, God bless him. Maybe at some point you and I might be in the same diminished mental capacity. But we shouldn't be the president. But when you say he worked one third at the time, that might be high. But on the other hand, maybe that's a blessing. All he's done is wrongful things and so therefore if it worked any harder, things would be worse.
Yeah, I guess, thank God for small miracles. And that's the reason I called is because I wanted to ask you about him giving the Pope the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In my space. I'm not Catholic, and I know you are a staunchly Catholic. I'm charismatic Christian and it's something that I think, in my opinion, the Pope should have refused that because that is a word from the earth,
so to speak. And I was always taught that you shouldn't boast upon yourself, but if you have to boast, boast upon the Lord, well.
You know, Pope course is an Argentinian socialist. My favorite pope was John Paul the second and Benedict and the idea of this pope, I mean, I wish him well, he's almost ninety years old. If I can't speak to I know he received the order with distinction. The first one given out and the Pope accepted it, and I do not. I can't judge anybody yet I be judged if Joe Biden is a good, practicing Roman Catholic. That's not my definition of what a good Roman Catholic is,
and that would be Joe Biden. I think, if your call got to take a break, I'm not going to judge someone else.
Let him be judged.
But when Joe Biden, unless he apologizes and asks forgiveness before the Seat of God, his place may be warm. Let's continue with more forty eight minutes after the hour, Bill Cunningham, the Great America with you every Sunday night.
Judge not lest they be judged.
And I would say that Joe Biden, who claims to be a practicing Roman Catholic, well a lot to answer for before the Seat of God, just as some of those things might be his behavior with his own daughter. Also might be the fact that he thinks abortion is like a sacramento. He gave the nation's highest civilian honor to Planned Parenthood members who kill babies from the that's the worst crime that can be committed, as when you kill the innocent and from the moment of conception of
natural death. Those are human lives. And for Joe Biden to give the highest civilian award to plan parenthood is disgusting. And to claim somehow that his behavior with his own daughter Ashley was somehow, somehow acceptable and not necessarily wrong, and somehow a hiss. Behavior with other women like Tara Reid, who sexually assaulted she said it happened. I don't know if it did or not. Are all rather despicable acts, to say nothing of other things he's done inside the White House.
That's for another day.
Let's go to Keith and North Carolina hopefully recovered from the storm, and Keith, welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show.
And Keith, how are you hi?
I'm great, sir. It's a privileged to talk to you.
Appreciate you, thank you.
Basically, Western I'm not measuring pain here. Western North Carolina was devastated. These are the regular folk, right yep. And they go white out of the house, went down the creek, yep. And we're sitting here going like, oh, I understand not worried about the I am worried about the California fires. But the point is, you know, these folks have been
left abandoned. They're sitting there now going like, hey, we're no longer going to pay for your hotel room because your house has been certified, i e. A government approval that you can move back into your house, but we can't get hold of you. Now, help me understand this. You can't get hold of somebody who you're paying for the room in a hotel. That's bizarre.
Now the thing didn't a FEMA official say that skip the homes with Trump signs that somehow if you're a Trumpster, you're not entitled to federal benefits. And when you have the director of FEMA this morning, this woman say, I think it was on Meet the Press this morning. Now, Karen Bass and LA officials are doing a good job. If that's a good job there, I don't want to see a bad one.
I'm with you. I'm with you, and if don't wait for the government to support you. But that's what we're talking about, So let's go ahead and continue the conversation. FEMA went in there and actually deterred the locals from helping themselves. I don't care about this, it's rumor whatever. I don't live there, I'm near so sir, but they're my backyard, all right. So let's not forget about the folks that don't have a house. And now you, saint kid, get hold of them because you can't find them. But
yet you're paying for the room. That's maloney you want.
To get Keith, good point, Thank you, And North Carolinians did a great job cleaning up themselves. And the ministries did wonderful work. Great work I know Matthew twenty five did great work in the Ministry of Franklin Graham did great work. I can't say that about FEMA. When the director of FEMA says LA fire officials now are doing a good job, I don't want to see a bad one, say.

Coming up first will be Wayne Allen Root. He's got a great column at Root for america dot com. Also later on is Grover Norquist? Have one or two other guests coming. But we live in difficult times, and the menu of problems given to this guy is unpresident since eighteen sixty one, when Lincoln took over the presidency. There's no part of the world, either literally or figure figuratively, not on fire. And it's going to be laid in his lap. And every little thing he does right or wrong.
Mainly it's going to be right. Sometimes wrong will be roundly criticized by the mainstream media, who shut up completely when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were doing things, shut up completely. And if Republicans controlled California and this stuff would go on the media, what have a completely different attitude because they were the same Jerseys as the Democrats. Let's continue with more. Phil Cunningham, the Great American, with you and all great Americans every Sunday.
Night, Willie.
Brought you by Choice Hotels a Conor Roger roadway in hotels are serving up double points for every qualifying stay book at Choice Hotels dot com. Now here's the man who's been recognized as radio's best, the recipient of not one, but two prestigious Marconi Awards for his broadcast excellence, the one and only Bill Cunninghead.
Right, Billy Cunningham, the Great America and the great win on the Route, spent many years living in California.
Wrote a column about this.
He left Malibu, California about twenty three years ago as a big story up at a Root for America dot com. Wildfire alone didn't destroy La how the dumb radical left six favorite obsessions made the fire unstoppable and joan you and I now is the great went on Route? And first of all win I note that two or three days ago even the New York Times wrote a story about her, Karen Bass, and the headline is before taking office, LA's mayor said she would not go abroad, and the
reason was when she was in Congress. That's all she did was go abroad on the nation's dime, especially to Cuba and to Africa. But nonetheless, what destroyed, what has destroyed La, continues to be so went en Route. What are your thoughts?
Well, looking at you know, the chickens are coming home to roost. I've said for years now it's not La, it's the whole country under Joe Biden, or I should say puppet Joe Biden, probably really under Barack Obama, who I think has been the clear leader of the country who gives the orders. But I've said for years it's two things. Number One, we're spending all of our money on illegal aliens, and it will come home to roost because there's no money left for anything or anyone else,
no money left for seniors, nobody left for veterans. No money left for cops or firemen, no money left for the military. Every dime is going, it seems to illegal aliens. It's in saturity. And number two I said, the whole country has been destroyed by DEI. You know, not gonna have anything against you. If you're black, if you're Latino, if you're brown, if you're gay, if you're lesbian, if you're transgender.
Great.
But if you are that, and you have a great resume and great experience and great talent, then you should get the job. But if you don't have that, you can't give someone the job or give them a promotion to run a major agency just because they're black, or transgender, or Latino or lesbian. And the whole country has been ruined by this insanity, not just giving jobs, but giving you know, college entrance because of the color of your skin or the fact that you're gay. Well that's the whole LA.
I mean.
The other day one of my buddies was watching the press conference in LA and he said, Wayne, they're like twelve people on the stage and eleven of them are gay, mostly lesbian. He said, this is insanity. This is all you've got to run Los Angeles and not one of them knows how to put a fire out. You know, it's it's insanity.
So you know it's la but it's the whole country.
And so I tell the story that I spent a lot of my time in the summers. I think, you know this bill in Parks City of Utah. I love Parks City of Utah. In the summer, it's heaven. And about two I think it was two summers ago. It could have been three, but it was recently. And I was sitting there having something to eat at a restaurant, and suddenly the word got out that a massive fire
was in the forest. You know, you know, it's surrounded on all four sides by trees as far as you could see, you know, the forests on the on the forests and woods on the mountains. And that everybody was scared. They all went running home. The place emptied out because everyone was told get home, pack your suitcase, get all your biggest belongings, your most important papers, and you know, protect your pets. This is the big one. It could
burn the whole town down. We've been dreading this for decades. When's the big one gonna come? It was that bad of a fire. Well, the moral to the story is about three or four hours later, it was like all clear, we put it out. We hit it with the helicopters with water drops and planes with water drops, and the fire was out. In that one house in Park City burned. They caught it before it got to the city. And I said at the time, I went on the radio TV.
About three or four days later, I got back to my vacation and I said, what I just witnessed could never happen in California because they've spent all their money on illegals, and they have no money left for firemen. They have no money left for fire training, for wildfire preparedness. That DEI they've got the wrong people in charge. And of course let's add in the other big one in California,
environmental extremism. They don't clear the brush, and they don't do what needs to be done, like build new reservoirs. Not one new one since nineteen seventy nine. No, many people have moved into California since nineteen seventy nine without any new extra water. And every year they have massive rainstorms and flooding, and yet there's no water because they
let it all run into the ocean. And this time there was an empty reservoir in Pacific Palisades and the story was it was empty for like two weeks and it was just bad luck. Well, last night I'm having dinner bill in Las Vegas with two friends of mine who lived part time in Vegas, part time in pack Palisades, and they told me that their daughter went hiking a year ago at the top of this hill where you could see into that reservoir, and they said, one year
ago it was empty. And today the article just came out. It hasn't been empty for two weeks. It's been empty for a year. There's been no water in the main reservoir to put the fires out for a year. So you know in the hydrants the water pressure is no good. Because if you spend all your money in illegals, then you're not spending money to fix and upgrade your infrastructure. The pipes need to be fixed, the hydrants need to be fixed, reservoirs need to be built. This is insanity.
And now you see the result of putting the wrong people in charge, having the wrong ideas about environmental streamism. And most importantly, I guess spending all your money on illegals, and you could even throw in a little something else. I saw today that almost all the highest paid public servants in Los Angeles our fire captains, making seven hundred
thousand years. What if you instead of paying them seven hundred grand a year, what if instead you hired more firemen at fifty thousand year and you got twenty extra firemen, so forget. They also fired hundreds of firemen in California in LA for not taking the COVID vaccine. Now, how many houses could you have saved with an extra three four hundred firemen that you fired because ooh they got
cooties they didn't take the COVID vaccine. These people are crazy, They're mentally ill, and they've just destroyed a wonderful city. I mean, I loved LA when I got there, I thought it was the greatest place to live, you know, in nineteen eighty nine, when I got there, I just thought I found heaven. And then I raced away from it because I thought the liberal crazies have ruined it. And that was twenty three years ago. It's only gotten worse.
The n away LA route.
I had last week on some executives, those in the know from New Orleans, and they have a similar mayor named LaToya Cantrell who's completely incompetent. The chief of police there looks like she's an actress from Beverly Hillbillies. And over the years we've dealt with the idiocy of Jacob Fry, the mayor of Minneapolis. He was the guy that rolled over and played dead, let them burn down police precincts
in Minneapolis. He's a white guy. Karen Bass, of course, Mike Johnston of Denver, the mayor there, he's a left roing radical extremist. He also is handing out money hanover fist to homeless and etc. Mayor Brandon Johnson in Chicago is a complete joke. And Kamala Harris herself is a perfect example of DEI Now. Richard Grennell worked for years for Donald Trump. He was an ambassador, acting director of d and I.
He's gay.
No problem, Justice Judge Janis Rogers, brilliant, Condaleza Rice is not about race?
What's about his competency that I ermantine?
I don't care if you're black, it's brilliant, it's great, right, But if you're black and dumb or white and dumb, I don't want you running my city or my fire department. If you're lesbian, dumb, I don't want you run in my fire department. And it turns out the lesbian fire chief first one in the history of la who hired a lesbian black number twospia chief whose entire goal of life is DEI literally said, we're getting rid of all the old white guys who are racist. And these people
are not smart their entire life. They got jobs because they're black, because they're women. Nobody ever bothered to check their credentials. I'm sure there was someone who was black or white, or gay or straight who had better credentials, but they hired them because the color of their skin. They're raised, their creed, you know, their sexual orientation. It's insanity.
And I'll tell you one more thing. I didn't mention that that, of course this Mayor Karen Bass cut seventeen million for the fire department budget, and then a week before this ever happened, she also asked for another forty plus million dollar cut. I think it was forty nine million she wanted to cut just a week before this happened.
If you give all your money away to illegals, this is what happens, you have no money left for what you need to do, which is train You know, because I was in LA so many years, I know what happens in California, and general at LA and specific Bill. There's three things that plague LA since the beginning of time. Wildfires and then immediately after the wildfire, terrible mud slides, and then earthquakes. And you've got to prepare for them.
And no one has spent a dime on any of that because they're too busy coddling illegals and giving illegals everything they want, from free college to public school, free to welfare to free healthcare. It's a free housing allowance. It's insanity.
Well, you add homelessness, drug use in public, massive smash and grab robberies. The LA public school system is a complete meltdown. I read a report from Mail Times at seventy five percent of the black boys in the LA school system are chronically absent from schools. Defund the police their two thousand cops short, they're seven hundred firefighters short. They have transgender houses erected for those who are homeless.
They have dei upwards and downwards. So one of the assistant chiefs said, why don't you hire some more men who can carry people out of buildings, possibly one hundred and fifty pounds down a ladder. And she said, well, that person shouldn't have put themselves there in the first place.
We don't do that right And.
That statement I saw that, Yeah, that statement should put her fired a b banned from ever holding any sort of role in any fire department of the United States ever. Again, she said, you're in the wrong place, of the wrong time, off you need rescuing by a female. Firefighters can't carry you out. I mean, that's so disgusting and disgraceful, it's beyond belief. Don't forget another couple issues. My buddies live
in LA lots of them still. Someone go back and forths to Vegas and they're making the transition and they're opening gain out of LA full time. But in the meantime they've got a house in both places. And they tell me that if you watch city council meetings in La bill eighty percent of the time of the city council is spent on only two issues, illegals and homelessness and the homeless. That's it. That's all they think about. Twenty four hours a day when they should be thinking
about real productive citizens, taxpayers. And how do you prepare for the next firestorm, the next mud slide, and the next earthquake? And by the way, it's coming, you know, is I guarantee you by April there will be massive rains in LA and there will be massive mud slides in all the areas that just suffered this horrendous you know firestorm. These are all predictable things. They happen every year. And how I throw in one more Democrats caddo terrorists
and terrorism. How do you know these fires are natural? How do you know they're not started by terrorists? This could be a way to destroy our country. I don't know about the first one, the very first spark of the first fire impact Palisades, I don't know. It may have been a down line. But since then there have been fires all over the city, and they've caught people
with blow torches in their hands. They've caught illegal alien gangs robbing holmes, including Kamala Harris's mansion in Brentwood, and so a lot of this may be intentional arson to create havoc and crisis and maybe distract them while they rob people's houses, or maybe it's Islamic extremists looking destroy our country, or Chinese military age males which we've let in by the hundreds of thousands through the open border, who may be under order from China to create crisis
throughout our country, so we don't pay attention to China attacking Taiwan, which I believe is going to happen very soon.
Well, in addition to that, the Sacramento General Assembly Sacramento was convened the last few days talking about how to combat Donald Trump. And already I see a senators are saying it's Donald Trump's fault. What's happening, despite the fact that California is blue?
Is blue?
Can hey, they're gonna blame Donald Trump on anything. But a reporter pushed back and said, is that the right time to deal with Donald Trump? When the city of La the city of Angels is on fire? And the Speaker of the House in Sacramento couldn't answer the question because he was stymied by an objective reporter that asked a question. And I thought, what Wayne Allen rue is their hope because I've read some say, well, we need to take over.
Who's we taking over? California. Yeah, is federal control.
Why, here's another issue.
Here's another issue that everyone has to think about.
So let's just assume this is all by mistake. Let's assume this was not purposeful. It's not the intentional destruction of the United States. Let's assume it's not another Maui. Let's assume it's not another western North Carolina mountains where they just let everybody die, they let everybody freeze the death intents in the middle of the winter. FEMA doesn't help. If you've got a Trump flag and foot in your house, they won't help you. Let's assume none of this is
intentional and a fire is natural made, not man made. Well, wait till the LA homeowners find out that. Number One, it takes five to ten years to get approval from the Coastal Commission to rebuild your home. So a lot of people who are in pack palisades are sixty and over, seventy and over, They're going to be dead before they ever get back at a home in their community. Number Two, you may never get approval from the crazy environmentalists of
the California Coastal Commission. Number Three, if your home was worth three million dollars, which the average home in Packed Palisades was based on the insane strict requirements of the California Coastal Commission. To rebuild that three million dollar house is going to cost you maybe five or six or seven million dollars. No one's going to have the money to rebuild unless you're super rich. And where will you find a contractor to rebuild these thousands of homestead of
burn out? So who's going to get the contractor? Whoever offers the most ridiculous money, which means again, the rich are good and the poor. Forget the poor, but the middle class and upper middle class screwed over and the world is running just for the super rich in LA, where will you find fire insurance? Ever, again, they couldn't even get it before the fire. Wait till after the fire.
There will be none available unless you want to spend two hundred fifty thousand a year for your house, which means only the rich will be able to afford to live there. And last, but not least, how about your property taxes. Let's just say under or listen. Prop thirteen in California holds your taxes the same as long as you live in the house so if you lived in the house forty years, it might only be one thousand dollars a year. But the minute you rebuild the house
or sell it. But if you rebuild it, it resets as if you have a new house. So now your taxes go from a thousand year to fifty thousand a year. So everybody who is in superrich and everybody who is over the age of sixty is going to find out they are locked out of the market. They will never be able to have that house again, they will never live in that neighbood again, and they're gonna have to go find a smaller house in a smaller neighbood or
leave the state of California. Everybody's life has changed dramatically.
Including the tax base. I can't imagine.
Of course they'll come up, they'll just run more budget deficits. Right now in Sacramento it's about fifty billion dollars a year as far as I can see, with budget deficits borrowing in the future to payoff present bills, but wipe out large parts of Los Angeles, which is one of the functional parts paying taxes. In that case, Sacramento won't have the money, and it's all about it's all about DEI.
It's by getting someone of the right race, the right genda, the right sexual orientation to do a job instead of by merit, by hiring the best person available.
They don't do that.
And why take over a state completely dysfunctional, is completely destroyed if the residents, the citizens, the voters themselves won't fundamentally change back to the days of Ronald Reagan that had a functional California Republic. At this point, Let's face it, Wayne, California's done done, Chicago done.
I look at all the major cities done. Or New York's done, you know done?
Well there also, look anyone.
Who's got a Democrat running the show, Docrats in the town council.
You're done.
It's over. Thank god, we have Trump running the country, but he can't change the future of an LA or a San Francisco, or New York or Chicago. Those cities are not gonna be for any normal working people ever again. And by the way, if you're a taxpayer, you pay into the system. You've got to be crazy to stay in a high tax state like California. You know, I moved from California, where the highest tax rate now is
fourteen point four percent. But if you make even eighty thousand a year, like most firemen do as an example, you're gonna you're paying nine point I think it's nine point three percent state income tax. You moved to Las Vegas, your income tax is zero zero with anyone stay in California. It doesn't make any sense.
Ever.
Again, they're in big trouble. They're gonna have to keep raising taxes, and the rich and anyone who can is gonna leave. And all that's gonna be left the visious cycle is people at welfare and illegal aliens.
That's gonna be the whole state went on the route.
Thank you very much Root for America dot com. Your stories are great and all I can say is thanks again for coming on the Bill Cunningham Show. Imagine where we would be if Kamala Harris was taking the oath of office in about a week. That's a different story. I got to run way up against the clock.
You got it.
Have a great day, Happy New Year. You have to say that, Happy New Year, God blessed. I'll be at the inauguration. Trust the President. We're gonna be okay. We don't live in la We're gonna be okay, be good.
Root for America dot Com. Thank you.
I let's continue with more things look a bit dark white. Take over a city or state federally when the residents and the voters have ruined it and won't change. Bill Cunningham with You Every Sunday Night. I Billy Cunningham, the Great American. Hear from Wayne On on the rude. A day without rude is a day without sunshine. The guy makes a whole bunch of sense all the time, never fails to deliver the goods. And and some have said, well,
how about the Feds taking over? How about Donald Trump taking over California?
Are you kidding me?
God helps those who help themselves. Until the voters say we can't take this anymore, nothing's going to change. Stay tuned from more coming up next to Dan Schneider from NewsBusters dot Org. Bill Cunningham with You Every Sunday Night.
By Billy Cunningham, The Great American.
Dan Schneider's with Media Research Center, my good friend Brent Bozel's grouping around for a long time, also Executive vice president of NewsBusters, Etc. That chronicles what the mainstream media feeds into the minds of the American people, Welcome again
to the Bill Cunningham Show. And first of all, before we deal with the car, before we deal with the California incompetent wildfires, before we deal with all that, there's a movement of foot to have Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg has said something that made a lot of sense, and the mainstream media hates it. They don't like the idea of a fact checking because it's their facts to being
checked and not anyone else's. So can you tell the American people how Facebook now with Zuckerberg is going to do pretty much what Twitter x is doing presently.
Yeah.
Bill.
The thing that this really reminds me most of is is, you know the late eighties and when the barbed wire started to get rolled up in Czechoslovakia, and Czechoslovakia was saying we're no longer a puppet of the Soviet Union than Hungary and eventually the Berlin walking down. And when I saw that barbed wire first in Czechoslovakia, I thought, this can't be happening, Kenn, Is it true? It can't
be true. It's similar here Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook. They've been part of the enemy cohort on silent and conservatives They've been the leader of it at different times. Google right now is the leader of it. But then suddenly Mark Zuckerberg is rolling up the barbed wire. He's saying, we're no longer part of the evil empire. I support free speech, and he's actually making he's making decisions that
reflect that reality. You know, no longer is the COO Cheryl Sandberg And I almost had a dirty word that FCC would not permit me to say. Cheryl something Sandberg. You know, she is a radical lefty. She's no longer the COO. And Nick Clegg, former Labor Party head in the United Kingdom, he's no longer the number three person.
They've been replaced by Republicans. What but yes, and then the fact that Checkers' so called Soros funded fact checkers, they all woke up Tuesday morning to discover their contract has all been terminated, every last one of them. I mean, it is the barbed wire being rolled up.
You know, when you say that, I think the guy in charge at Czechoslovakia at that point was a guy named dupe Check, and Dupcheck decided, let's roll up the barbed wire, let's open up the border and see what happens is the USSR.
Are we going to be obliterated?
And the answer was no, and then it rippled all across Europe. And so Zuckerberg gives a million dollars to Donald Trump for the inaugural. Zuckerberg does his online speech that hell you made or I could have made. It's about letting people decide for themselves in a free society what is and what is not relevant to their lives. And I'm watching Mark Zuckerberg do this and he kind of reminded me of of Duke Check.
We got a new dupe check.
Yes, yes, no, no, just to make sure people know I'm not a sick fanta like I don't get paid a penny by my mortal enemy Facebook. But he has not merely said I'd now sport priest. He has vowed, he has pledged that he's going to fight the European Union, He's going to fight the Chinese and others that are trying to censor speech. Now that's still not good enough.
He needs to make restitution. Oh, Facebook and all the meta companies, they have really really harmed conservatives, conservative organizations. We are still calling for them to make restitution for their harm.
How about reparations. We need reparations. Can I get it? Can I get a check? I need reparation.
This is real.
There are a lot of people who lost their jobs. A lot of conservative media outlets went under this is this is real, and every American citizen had their voices squelched by this, and every American citizen was denied knowledge like about the Hunter Biden laptop story. You know, they caused serious harm and Facebook needs to needs to atone for its sins. But we can still celebrate the fact that they've come to our side of the aisle on this issue.
Dan Schneider, Media Research Center, I asked you a question, is this real or is this memorys? A year or two into the Trump presidency, and God knows, right now, there's peace everywhere. There may not be a lot of riots on January the twentieth. Madonna may not show up to blow up the White House. There may not be a bunch of pea hats running around talking and screaming, hollering and shouting about my vagina.
And maybe that stuff will not happen.
But do you believe in your harder hearts after two or three years, if you and I get back together hopefully more often between now and then that actually Mark Zuckerberger of Facebook will be fair, reasonable and support the First Amendment. Will you say the same thing in two years from now, after two years of the Trump presidency, what do you say?
Look, I might be proven naive indullible two or three years from now, but yeah, I think this is real. I think this is a real commitment to this cause. Now, there are a couple of things I'm going to be looking for to determine whether I'm just naivendullible. You know, Will Facebook pull itself out of the trade association called net Choice. This is their lobby arm, it's their legal arm. Well, Facebook pull out of net Choice and no longer advocate
in the court for censorship. If they pull out a net Choice, that is a serious that serious evidence that I'm right that this is real. If they don't pull out a net Choice, then it starts to look it starts to look faker, It kind of starts to look short term.
And Dan Schneider, to whom does credit belong? And I think, in a sense, ultimately it's the American people. It's the seventy seven million people that voted for Donald Trump. In fact, in the last three times he's run, He's received a total of about two hundred and twenty million votes in
sixteen twenty twenty four. But in the most recent election, there was a stark choice between the California way of doing things or the common man every man, which is Donald Trump's way of doing things, the heartland and the heartland one over California and New York. In fact, there's not one county in New York who had more votes for Kamala Harrison the head for Joe Biden. And if you look at a map, there's more red counties in New York State and California voting for the for Trumpton
there was for Biden or Kamala Harris. But do you give credit mainly to the American people or some other person or source?
Bill, It is no surprise that you are spot on. You are spot on. I've been concerned for a long time, and I still remain concerned that this whole experiment and representational democracy is coming to an end. Will the American public rise up against these woke mobsters and take our country back? It looked almost hopeless for a while. Yeah, cancel culture and everything was just crushing everybody, and I
just I didn't know if this experiment was done. But it is the American public that rose up and said enough. And it's not just those who voted for Trump, those who voted against Trump. I would say maybe half of those who voted against Trump still are going to acknowledge that the woke mob went too far and there's got to be a reckoning and a pulling back of those
extreme excesses. And here's my evidence of that. After Zuckerberg told all of his employees that their fact checker colleague are done and that there's no more censorship on the platform, and there give me some other big announcements. The next couple of weeks after he told them all this, not a single person has walked out in protest, not a single person quit. Even those wokesters out in Silicon Valley understand.
Today is a different day. The world has changed. Their excesses have been curtailed.
It's unbelievable.
It's a new day. It's a new day in America.
I'm a skeptic, I'm a Saint Thomas kind of a guy. I went a wait a year or two because when I watched the video of Mark Zuckerberger.
I rewounded what listen to it? Watched the two or three more times.
It was it's so bad in twenty seventeen that James call me and his band of the FBI thought it was okay to wiretap the president of the United States, wiretap the transmission, to have illegal warrens being issued, and to go after General Flynn and Trump directly and to
ruin the first two years of his presidency. They were so confident they would find something that would be expanded into a crime that they did this, even rated the President's home and threw Maloney's underwear all over the carpeting and positioned all the secret documents in a way that make it look like he was a complete fool and
an idiot. They had so much confidence in their success they raided Donald Trump's personal residence with a bunch of bs, They suppressed the laptop, They committed law fair against the
Russian collusion delusion. They were so certain they would win that guess what they did all that to Donald Trump and his friends, and dited his lawyers, and dited his consultant, and died at the White House chief of Staff, knowing that they'd be protected in the end and now they're bear and they're saying, are you kidding me?
And that's how confident they were.
And don't forget. They attacked Catholics, they attacked parents of k through twelve students. They have attacked all of America. They attacked individual rights. They tried to crush this entire system of government. They tried to replace themselves, you know, try to replace the American people with themselves, and they failed. And please God, let's get let's get our new leadership over DOJ right away. There's got to be a reckoning.
Those people have to pay the price for their illegal, criminal and unconstitutional conduct.
And this is on top of if you take the three sentinels of liberalism progressivism, Chicago, take Illinois, Take New York State, Take New York City, Take California with all the wildfires.
Look at the incompetence. In New York State.
You have the you have the governor Hockel is going to charge people like three thousand dollars per year simply to drive a car on Manhattan three thousand bucks. As she's giving away in New York State money about a billion dollars a year to illegal aliens who are getting there being wined, dined in, pocket lined all over New York City. Some eighty thousand are getting checks in the mail, but New Yorkers have to pay just to drive a
car onto the island. You have in the subway system, women set on fire men, jump jumping tolls, repeatedly throwing people onto the train tracks. Murders in the subway system. In New York City's up sixty percent crime is through the roof. Throw on top of that the city of Chicago, and that the mayor there has an eighteen percent approval factor. This city of Chicago's upside down, all their pensions, that no one wants to be a cop. Throw in California.
Throw in what happened with Karen Bass. She's in Africa celebrating a Gananese president as her city's literally burning. They're on an ocean. They're on an ocean, and they have no water because of the incompetence of Los Angeles City Council. Do you see a new berth in America? Dan Schneider, do you see a new berth as I do? Or is this all something? Is this a mirage what I'm watching here?
You know, Bill, let's have a moment of silence. As we list all of the accomplishments, the positive accomplishments of Democrats over the last four years. There that's the list of positive accomplishments.
Southern border deficits out of whack completely, crime is rampant, California's burning.
New York is a complete crisis.
We're giving money to the Ukrainians billions of dollars keep a war going with Israel under attack. We have the North Koreans ready to attack the South Koreans. We have China flying bombers over the top of Taiwan. We have crises upon crises upon crises. And none of this was fairly and objectively independently reported by any of the mainstream media.
They ignored it.
I reached some of the items on your website about ninety nine percent of the guest on late night comedy shows and aren't funding anymore Liberals. Eighty eight percent or more of the reporting on all of the Trump nominees are all negative about the mainstream media. And I'm watching this and I'm surprised. Are you still shocked that Trump won against all this?
This is unbelieva.
You know, I didn't know how the election was going to go. I didn't know if the American people had had enough. I was nervous. Bill. The first time people came together to form a government to govern themselves was ancient ascents. The second time was in seventeen seventy six. This form of representational democracy has already outlasted the first attempt twofold. And I didn't know if we were coming to an end. And you know, thank god, we are
not coordinating. Queen Commel in a couple of weeks, you know, that would have been the end of us. But the American people said no more.
I have.
I have renewed hope that this system of government and our freedom might still endure a while longer. But it takes all of us every day fighting for freedom, fighting for democracy, because what you know, this is not the natural order of things in world history. The natural order is a king telling everybody what to do. We have to work to preserve our freedom. We let down, we let go, we died.
You know last I gave a speech the other day for a Supreme Court justice in Ohio. My good friend Joe Dieters, who was an elevator to the seat, and I made the comment that we're the only country on earth the only one that has rights given by God, and that governments are instituted among men in order to secure the rights given by God Almighty. In every other government, all of our rights come from government, and the government that gives you those rights can take away those rights.
But not here in America. And if we were in a few days going to commemorate the Kamala Harris presidency with the adoring coverage of the media that she would have gotten, and if she had eight years in office, in order to solidify, to cement the lack of descent in this country, the ability of media types to freely speak, and the idea that Catholics need to be investigated, that the southern border has got to be more wide open, that we have to pay out more money to illegals
and shouldn't be here, that the crime on the streets will become cemented into a perpetuity. I'm not sure we could have survived. Imagine if she had won and in twenty thirty two Kamala Harris left office, Dan Schneider, what does American look like?
Who's to say she would have left office in twenty thirty two. Yeah, you know, it's that truly our system of government would have come to an end.
Yeah. Yeah.
People couldn't understand why she was not actually articulating her policy views during the campaign. It's because she didn't want to tell anybody what she was going to do, because she was going to do crazy things. We already know the kind of crazy things she's going to do because they've been doing it. We're just about to release the report of one hundred and thirty different and censorship initiatives
in the Biden Harris administration. One hundred and thirty different ways our taxpayer dollars were being used to crush the Well, you know this is stalinistic kind of stuff.
Well, Dan Schneider, what would have happened as that? Bernie Sanders said it several months ago that a reporter asked, Bernie Sanders, the literal socialist from Vermont, are you concerned about Kamala Harris is seemingly changing her position from the California comments today? He kind of bound and said, no, I'm not concerned about what she says because I know what she's going to do.
And that was Senator.
That was Senator Bernie Sanders said, just get elected and then we're going to solidify the socialism that was creeping and now is in retreat. But if Trump only serves four years and then we go back to Kamala Harris or god forbid, Gavin Newsom or someone Pritzker the governor of Illinois, then we're back at it again. We need eight to twelve years of my good friend Jady Vance from the great state of Ohio after that. But Dan Sneyder,
we got a run once again. It's a wonderful site which is NewsBusters dot Org MRC Media rese Center once again keep hope alive. We have hope at least for the next four years, hopefully for the next twelve. And Dan Schneider, thank you for coming on the Bill Cunningham Show.
Thank you, Dan. Thanks Bill, God bless America. Let's continue with more. Wow.
And if you happen to see the some of the body language at the Carter funeral, you know, the disgust and hatred among Democrats for Democrats much less Trump.
Let's continue with more.
Bill Cunningham, the Grand American, live with you every Sunday night. All right, Billy Cunningham, the Great American. Dan Schneider, NewsBusters dot Org have the website up, and you can only imagine if a Republican was in charge of the city of Los Angeles, which is in today's political climate, would be impossible, or Republican was the governor of California, which today is impossible, how the media would deal with Gavin Newsom and Karen this is a good name, Karen Bass
be completely different. When it's a Democrat, they pull their punches. When it's a Republican they use hooks and claws. And right now, according NewsBusters dot Org, which is my last guest, Dan Schneider's main website, NBC Softball Interview aims to rehab Governor Newsom into looking confident, getting ready, of course, for the twenty twenty eight presidential race. See the Media Believes it, Believe it or not? Once Gavin Newson to be the nominee of the Democrat Party because of his hair gel
and he's got a nice smile. What about his confidence?
Does that matter?
Absolutely not. The d solves all kinds of difficulties. Coming up next to Christen Briggs's written to column about the financial health of this great country and what's happening in San Francisco and what's happening in Los Angeles certainly provides a more difficulties. As Wail on the Root said, imagine the expenses of homelessness, drug addiction, and illegal aliens and more. Don't counting into grant American with you and all other great Americans. Of course, every Sunday.
Night, Willie brought you by Choice Hotels, Acono Lodge and Roadway In Hotels are serving up double points for every qualifying stay book at choice hotels dot com.
Now here's the man who's been recognized as radio's best, the recipient of not one, but two prestigious Marconi Awards for he is broadcast Exodence, the one and only Bill cunning.
Have Bill Cunningham, the Great American.
Of course, economically, we look for a revitalization when Trump takes office on January the twentieth.
It's going to be a slow haul.
But one of the great concerns many Americans have and
many economists have, is something called bricks. Now you may think bricks are something you put on the house, but bricks refers to a loose organization of five or six great economies Brazil and Russia, India, China and South Africa, and more indicative willingness to join and this would be like a second alternative source of economic strength around the world, and it would mean that the American dollar would not be a reserve currency, which is a really big deal.
Joining you and I now is Kristin Briggs is the CEO of Hard Asset Management. Kristin Briggs. Welcome, I think for the first time to the Bill Cunningham Show. And first of all, did I set it up correctly that Bricks, especially with China being involved with Brazil and Russia, India, South Africa, is a mortal danger to the economic health of the United States of America.
It's exactly right, and you pose a really good point here. Bricks is trying to undermine the financial stability the United States. If it wasn't such a problem, and if it wasn't literally on the top of Trump's list, he would not have come out in swinging on this one. Instead, one hundred percent tariffs on anybody who undermines the US dollar.
And puts it as second class citizen.
The thing that you've got to realize is of the original five countries, which have strong economics in their own right, but together the Bricks nations now which are about seventeen countries from the original two thousand and nine at the gate to today. The biggest change, I would say was the UAE United Arab Emirates joined, which is seven countries Abu Dhabi and Dubai and so.
Forth, has a lot of oil impact. Iran now as part of BRICKS.
So what you've got here as a coalition of countries that have right now together a forty percent bigger GDP than the G seven. When you take out the six countries of the G seven, let the United States be standalone, they're over double our GDP. So Trump knows that it's not just an issue with the reserve currency status, it's
a national security issue. In fact, in a recent conversation I had with one of the leading House members, chairman of one of the committees, his point plank, which he's going to have dinner with Trump this weekend, said, if there's any one thing that you can destabilize a country, destroy the currency and then there's nothing left in the country, because that is the bedrock of the financial system. Bricks
have made no bones about it. Their goal is to undermine debate and decouple the dollar from oil and commodity trading as fast as they can. So that way, our interest rates will skyrocket because no one will buy our debt. Why well, the debt's based in dollars. Look what's happening over the last year or so. It's not inflation that's always running up these rates. It's the unwillingness of countries right now to buy our debt. That's your problem, and that's what Bridge is trying to do.
Explain reserve currency. My producer may not fully understand it though. If the world trade is funded and fueled and layered with the.
US dollar, the US dollar has great value.
If, on the other hand, some other currency like the wand from China is going to be the reserve currency, then we're in trouble, big trouble. In fact, we've done a lot of this to ourselves because of our debt and deficit. But explain to the American people what is reserve currency and how does that impact someone living in ames Iowa?
Well good, Well, like you said, Iowa, I have relatives and aims as well as in Iowa. So that's good, yeah, all of Iowa. Well, let's talk about what reserve currency means. First of all, when a country determines its asset base or asset classes. It's going to have a number of fun in the mental things. Is going to strategically put in gold, silver, oil, and currency, currency being the liquid
portion of all of those, Okay, the most liquid. So when you look at reserve currency, we are now from nineteen forty six, when ninety percent of the world transacted only in dollars and it was the number one reserve currency. Let me tell you where we're at today. We are now number six. In reserve asset. We're number one, but we've got from ninety percent to forty nine percent in
daily transactions with the dollar. We're still number one because since nineteen forty six, there is a plethora of localized currencies out there that have subsequently been made to be their their number one go to sales transactional asset, which you know, people think, oh, it's going to be crypto one day.
It will not be crypto like in the sense what we have today.
It's going to always be a localized currency, whether it's digital or in paper form. What we're looking at is losing the number one position in daily transactions. If we lose that, that means demand is shifting to other currencies, which it has since nineteen six. The scary thing is, and Trump knows this is the number one national security riscue. Like I said earlier, it's number one with him right now. Because here's what the bricks represent. The bricks have two purposes.
One to coalition, to bring financial instability to the United States, to create doubts so people stop buying the debt, people short the debt, or all together, they just eliminate.
The use of the dollar. That's the goal.
Now in some degree that's already happened, or we would still get that ninety percentile from nineteen forty six. The second thing they're doing is military strategically located basis.
This is the reason why number of years.
Ago Trump set China represents the greatest risk, and the bricks part of it because China is now moving on Greenland and they're moving just like they did the Soviet Union in the early sixties with Khrushchev and putting missiles in Cuba. Greenland represents it basically, it's an aircraft carrier. It's an aircraft carrier Hawaiian Islands. These are strategic locations to put in military operations.
Panama Canal.
Why is he so worried about that well, because China, which is part of the Bricks, which is intend to undermine the dollar undermin military, is now controlling Panama in violation of the treaty when Carters let Panama have the Panama Canal back. So now he's having to fight four fronts. He still has Ukraine in Russia, which rushes part of Bricks. He still has Hesbala Israel and Iran. Iran is part
of Bricks. He's still got the Panama Canal with China, and China is also interfering in Greenland, which is part of Bricks, which is the founding member. So when he says Bricks is the biggest threat to the national security of the United States, Trump is right. He's always going to be proven right, whether it's the next day, the next year, or the next decade.
The guy's as smart as that.
We have look at his sun as that one hundred and seventy IQ good looking kid, Baron so and all his kids are smart because it comes from a good stock.
Trump knows what he's talking about.
Now, in order to defeat the Bricks, he's gonna have to do one thing. In my company, we analyze things every day in real time twenty four to seven.
We never go to sleep.
There's always people working around the clock to manage hard assets for individuals. Well, that's how Trump's going to have to manage bricks. In order to defeat the bricks, he can't go head to head. He's gonna have to find the cracks within the membership. And I think that's what's gonna happen, is he's going to go to the weakest links, cut deals, strategic deals, not just willing nearly throw a grenade and see what happens and where the casualties are, but more tactical, more surgical.
I think what we'll do is and this is what I would do.
And he's a smart guy, so I think he'll be able to relate to this. Find the weakest link within an organization that you need to dismantle, subdivide that by taking a few pieces off to make the whole weaker than what was originally started. And next thing, you know, the rest will follow suit. They'll want to cut deals. They'll want to say, okay, we're back on the dollar. We're gonna go ahead him do business with you, and all of a sudden that bricks will be weakened enough
to where it may actually be dismantled. Possibly not. Dismantling is a big word, and they're very unified, but there is definitely cracks. There's definitely some confusion within the Bricks memberships because why you've got a warrior now in the White House, you don't have a dementia patient, You've got a warrior.
They don't like warriors.
Why will Warriors are tough, Warriors will push back, Warors.
They'll hit back. That's what Trump is. He's a warrior, and so.
The most important thing he can do is maybe it's Brazil, maybe it's India, the largest country on Earth, or maybe it's the UAE because of their fear of what's happening in Iran. You can pick off two, three or four of them to go back on the dollar and right now the one the Chinese in ten for the wand to become the reserve currency. And these nations together have a much bigger GDP than the US, but they don't have the same military power, and you can grab them by the coyones, especially the UAE.
So that means when UAE.
Or Saudi Arabia trades with a Germany, you need some currency, and that has been the reserve currency right now it is not. And because there was such fecklessness the past four years that the bricks and these other seventeen nations got together to use a different currency than the dollar, which will trash the American economy. Wouldn't it make us
look like a great depression again in America? If economically the rest of the world would use the wand as the reserve currency where goods are exchanged instead of the dollar, wouldn't that be an unmitigated disaster for us?
If that happens, the US would have twenty five percent interest rates, overnight mortgages would be fifteen to twenty percent, real estate would drop by fifty percent in a second. Because here's the problem, and you're right, You're absolutely right. The digital U one right now is about eighteen percent of the world's transact whether it's paper or whether it's digital, About eighteen percent of the world transactions are now through
the bricks. China obviously representing so many population of the whole world of the planet, so that gives it some kind of a little bit stewed their direction, a little bit more of a bias, But it doesn't matter.
They're still people they're still transacting.
So if we lose this reserve status and we are on the verge of losing it, we're down to under fifty percent. We're in the forty nine percentile again, down from ninety percent and forty six.
But what you said was profound. He said something very good.
If the digital ue continues its current growth rate, which is exponentially moving very rapidly around the world, especially in wherever China has built massive infrastructure deals. The way China started to move quickly once they joined the World Trade Organization, they were able to move with more efficiency at a much rapid pace, to be able to get money into infrastructure deals within countries by giving them two billion dollar loans.
They own the country, they basically seize the assets. If you can't pay the loan back, don't worry about it. We're your new government. You'll do all of these things. That's what happened in Panama, It's happened throughout South America, it's happened all over Africa. See Schishi Ping comes from a long line of leaders whose ultimate goal was to create supremacy both in a financial status in a military status. And this goes back to the eighteen fifty occupation of
the British in Hong Kong. They said they would never allow that to happen again, and they haven't in that sense. So if the digital U one continues at its current pace of growth, and it is substantial pace of growth, which I think we can slow it down. The hard part is going to be eliminating it, which could be next to impossible. But slow it down and put it almost in a quarantine, in a box to limit its
growth or limit its what I consider to be the octopus. Right, it's tentacles to go to the far reaches of the world, bring back Greenland because it's a strategic place. China wants a military base there because then they can leverage that against the US. They did it in the South Sea when they built those islands, which was against all international treaties. It was the closest they could get to the Hawaiian Islands, which again as an aircraft carrier for anybody who has
military ideology. And the last part, again going back to your question, I'll give you an answer at full circle. We are going to move from paper currency to digital currency within the next three to five years. There's no way around it. The debt is so bad that mathematically, at the rate it's currently being I call it built. Okay, I don't know how much you want to say it, but the debt's getting built bigger and bigger every day that by twenty twenty nine we're in default mode. There's
just not enough revenues by the government. You can't tax out of it, and you certainly can't create more manufacturing jobs enough to eliminate the debt.
And the bricks are playing off that.
That's why Elon Musk came out today and said there's no way to cut two tillion dollars from the federal budget.
You can't do it. We all knew he couldn't. Two hundred billion a.
Year would be catastrophe almost for the GDP. So Trump's going to have to go in there and cut deals and divide the bricks in order to save the United States.
You know, on the media in this country simply want to attack Donald Trump. They kind of snicker and laugh about Greenland, About Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is managed by the communists Red Chinese, and when pavements can't be made, they'll take over the canal. And they're the one managing it right now. They have a multi billion dollar port they put in Peru in Peru, for God's sakes, and
Greenland is being encircled by the Chinese. Whenever media reports on Trump wanting to take control directly or indirectly of Greenland, they just laugh and snicker at the guy. And by twenty twenty nine, at the rate of borrowing a trillion dollars every one hundred days, we do not have the economy, do not have the money to keep borrowing money without
greatly higher interest rates. And when those around the world quit buying our debt, we're out of business, in which case the value of assets we own iti we cut in half and it will take twenty five thirty percent to buy a house, in which case the economy crashes, which is exactly what Red China wants. They want America to economically collapse. They were banking on Kamala Harris continue the same policies for the next four to eight years, and Trump's gonna have to be the one to make
the case that we can't continue in this route. If we do, the country's over with because if the currency is worthless, assets are worthless, in which case the lines form in front of Kroger stores and we're done.
Do I have that correct?
As correct and clear as crystal? You say it exactly. If the dollars undermined, nobody buys the debt rate spike, everything goes south, everything with the exception of hard assets.
I'm gonna make a point.
There are two things that are the most clearest barometers of economics. No matter what it is, no matter what the numbers are in the economy, no matter who runs the state, whether it's Russia, whether it's the United States and Canada, it doesn't matter.
The two barometers you need to focus on are follows.
Interest rates in bonds. Okay, that's kind of synonymous with each other. And rates are going up, bonds are going down treasuries because nobody wants the debt. It's not just inflation, it's also fear. It's fear.
And then the other thing is gold.
See gold goes up twelve to eighteen months prior to a catastrophic event. It's done it every single time since every cycle since eighteen eighty four. Okay, literally since eighteen eighty four. So when you see them move in gold, it always comes before. When you see them move in bonds. In this case, we've got fear of the debt, of the underlying value of the dollar, and normally bonds would be going up because of a safe haven. Equity is
going down. So we know that the bonds are in trouble, equities are in trouble, and we certainly know that gold is forecasting a tremendous downturn that's coming soon.
Because the numbers. Math is math.
Okay, people lie, Math doesn't and that's the way it is. So we need to look at this. And yes, China is playing off this. There was a gentleman that I had the pleasure of meeting in China doing business over there number of years ago, and he always said, he said, we always try to capitalize on the weakness of the enemy. This is a tradition for China for thousand years. Sun
Shou said it. Actually, So what they're doing now is they're trying to expand accelerate because we're at a weak point economics doing with Trump coming in.
Look at the debt. Look at the debt. How are you going to pay back thirty seven trillion dollars? You can when the revenues of the United States you can't. It's forty a half trillion. You can't do it. It's impossible.
The Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Congress and Warren Davidson, who's incredibly a smart friend, very student.
About this stuff.
Yeah, well, him and I have done some talks together and we've done some a couple of presentations, and we both concurred, you cannot pay the debt down. And China knows this, and they're dumping all their treasuries. Think about this in twenty ten.
Thirty seconds, thirty seconds, all right.
Ready for this.
But twenty ten they had four trillion dollars worth of treasuries. You know they got today four hundred billion. They've reduced it by ninety percent. Why they put it all in gold?
Period.
Christian, Let's keep sounding the bell before it's too late, because twenty twenty nine is as close to us now as twenty twenty one. It's right around the corner. And Christian Briggs, you're great about this. The fate of bricks and Trump is the guy we have right now to save this country. Christian Briggs, thanks again for coming on the Bill Cunningham Show, CEO of Hard Asset Management. Let's make sure we do it again. Thank you Christian.
All right, thank you, my brother, God bless you.
Thank you.
Bill Cunningham, the Great American. Live with you every Sunday Night by Billy Cunningham, the Great American. And the financial status in this country, shall we say, is not the best. When you read about deficits of something a range of two trillion dollars every year and accumulate national debt of something in the range of thirty six trillion, and the
Chinese owns so much of our debt. Now they're cashing in their ten year bonds, which means there's more bonds available to be purchased by others.
That's why the rates are going up.
It's kind of a sad situation in which we find ourselves, but we put ourselves here, and I'm not sure even Donald Trump can get us out of the debt circle that debt crisis. We may end up like Zimbabwe, for example. It's not good and someone's got to have a come to Jesus meeting or grossly increase the economy. Of course, that would be Donald Trump grossly increasing the economy. But nonetheless, I think this feeds nicely. We're going to put a
call in the Grover Norquist Americans for Tax Reform. Grover Norquist has been fighting this battle now for many, many years. And the consequences of having all the fires in Los Angeles, which is going to cost hundreds of billions of dollars, the rebuilding of Los Angeles by itself is going to be hundreds of billions of dollars or more. And the fact that we're not prepared economically for this is it's deeply saddening to me as a great American. I don't know how we come over it, but we got to
do something. We've got to go in a different direction. To build a city in a desert with grasslands that is meant to burn, and then blaming climate change for it makes no sense to me at all. Bill Cunningham with you every Sunday Night, By Billy Cunningham, the Great America, one of the great advocates for tax reform the last twenty twenty or thirty years as Americans for Tax reformatr dot org and then leading the Saint Peter of that organization.
The leader upon that rock we will build our church is of course, Grover Norquist. And Grover welcome again to the Bill Cunningham Show. Two or three issues are percolating him my head. Number one, you have a column up about you haul index shows Americans voting with feet or shall is say, entires in favor of lower taxes greater worker freedom. So explain what you haul rental rates tell about the American people moving within America.
Ye, we kind of know from talking to friends that people are moving from New York to Florida because New York has a ten percent personally come tax and Florida has zero. People move from California to Texas because they go from about fourteen down to zero. And you hear the stories and you know it anecdotally. But every year you haul the people who provide let you rent their
trucks to move stuff from one to the other. Report And by the way, if you're using you haul and driving your own truck, you're not some rich guy, right. They can hire somebody else to drive their stuff from one place to another. But you all says, here's the top ten states people are leaving California and New York Illinois. They go through the list. What are they? They are high tech states and their states run by democratic governors
and democratic legislatures. Well, where are the ten states people are moving to. Of Florida and Texas and Tennessee. States that people move to that have either no personal state income tax or very low personal state income taxes. The average of the ten people moved to is about two percent. The average of the one that people leave is about
six to eight. So people always loved the idea. I grew up in before I moved to United States and immigrated, I used to live in Massachusetts, and there in Massachusetts, people say, oh, that people moved to Texas for the weather, and I thought, really, you ever been to Texas? You know the idea that people leave California to move to Texas for the weather. It's counterintuitive, and Florida is wonderful in the winter, but not in the summer. People are
not moving. You make hast in Florida for the weather. You move for the Texas.
No question.
In California, I think the most beautiful state I've been in is North Carolina. And if I spend time in Montana, I'd probably say Montana. But there's no more beautiful state well positioned than the state of California. It has skiing, it has beaches, it has mountains, has valleys, great agricultural center. Of course, Hollywood, et cetera. You have the tech industries
there and so much more. There's about forty million Americans who live in the California, which is beautiful, and all they have is ridiculous governmental policies caused by ineptitude and by DEI helping to cause the wildfires and more. Right now there's more and more than three thousand structures affected. All hell continues to break loose in California. They can't deal with it, and instead of going a different direction, they fail to do so. California, for example, is beautiful.
Texas often for six months of the year has terrible weather. The state of Florida. I have a home there. About six months of the year it's great. The other six months is hotter than the hinges of hell. People aren't moving to Texas or North Carolina or Mississippi or Florida because of the weather. They're moving for less crime, less regulation, more entrepreneurship, and fewer taxes, and so California has got
to be. In fact, if I could trade California, Washington and Oregon for maybe Canada, I might make the trade. But Canadians are very close right now in politics to Californians.
But what do you see.
Why are more and more and more Americans leaving California and then being replaced by legal migrants illegally getting lots of government support. So the right kind of people are moving out and the wrong kind of people are moving in.
Why California has past the tipping point. They just spend so much money, and they do that to buy Democrat voting constituencies. Either government employees given mats of pensions beyond anything in the private sector, and they have to keep funding that. That's bankrupting a number of the Blue states. We're talking about trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities promises, way beyond what they've been willing to steal from Pact
players so far. They're going to have to do much higher taxes in the future just to pay off their promises to the to the public sector union. And then you have an entire constituency that gets welfare in various forms and they say to people, you can't accomplish anything, which is not very nice in the government to say to people and say, well, well we'll give you some welfare and so just vote for us, and that'll that's the deal, Shut up, go away, and it's becoming too
expensive for them to buy the votes they need. And this is a huge challenge. New York spends two hundred and thirty billion a year state budget, two and thirty billion, Florida one fifteen. Okay, half half as much. Florida actually has two million plus more people living in Florida than in New York's. That wasn't true X number of years ago. Right, Florida is bigger than New York and they but New York spends twice as much per capita. Why what do
they get? Are the road's better? No, the schools better? What they have? No, well, it's transportation better. No, okay, it's more expensive. They pay more government employees, more money, more benefits, They work fewer days, they work fewer hours, they retire earlier, and they get pensions that nobody in the real world ever gets to see. So they have a very well paid aristocratic class that, like the European aristocrat, live off the hard work of the peasants who pay
the taxes. And that's what New York gets for spending twice as much what Florida get Because they spend one hundred and fifteen billion dollars a year less in the state government. They get people moving to their state, they get businesses investing in their state. They get jobs and growth in the state because people spend their money there by investing in it. Right, if you put your money in the bank, they're shipping it to Florida to build
houses and work and great things. They're not building in New York because there isn't opportunities there. So this is really beginning to shift the country. Next year the electoral College about ten more votes, ten more votes moved to low tax states away from high tax states, and eventually we'll have a permanent majority against the tax and spenders.
Well, two other issues.
One is that I hear liberal Democratic congressmen and women like at Keem Jefferies say it's all about tax cuts. Well, if you pay taxes, you get a tax cut. And because the income distribution, the top one percent pay about forty percent of the tax txes. So when there's tax cuts across the board, the one percent likely to get forty percent of the revenue return to them in a form of checks to have more economic activity. So if one percent pay forty percent, the top five percent pay
eighty percent. That means when the tax cuts across the board, the eighty percent, the five percent who pay eighty percent of the taxes get relief. But secondly, the Democrats want to sell the lie le italisize it, put it in quotes, put a big line under it, and they lie by saying, well, that's going to starve government. When you have tax cuts, it means less government money goes to Washington to spend money. Explain the truth, Grover nor Quist, Explain the truth.
Sure, When we cut marginal tax rate on the income tax in the nineteen twenties, we had the Roaring twenties. Then Hoover erased the taxes up to seventy five percent. We had a great depression when John F. Kennedy said let's take the rates down about twenty five percent across
the board. Like Reagan, we had strong growth in the sixties until they created the Great Society, spent trillions of dollars and Nixon had Nixon raised taxes to pay for the welfare state that the Democrats created, and you have the lousy seventies. Reagan came in cut marginal tax rates.
You had strong economic growth for seven straight years until George Herbert Walker buck broke his promised not to raise taxes and did raise taxes, and we had as a result, flower growth following that, when we reduce taxes, we have more growth. We have more revenue coming in. Because you have more people working, there are more people paying taxes,
more people making higher wages. The Trump tax cuts saw the median income family of four in nine twenty nineteen, a year after the tax cuts took effect, jumped six point eight percent median family income. Not rich people, not the media dead center, middle half earning more half earning was six point eight percent, growth more than the entire
eight years of Obama. Lower taxes create economic growth. The second line the Democrats say is, well, the corporate income tax, we should raise that, and they're only going to have tax The Republicans are cutting taxes for corporations. What does that mean. Corporations don't pay taxes. There's no mister General Motors writing a check. Companies the corporate income taxes paid by workers who get paid less money because the company has less money, fewer workers, because the companies shrink at
their workforce. Prices go up because they have to try and raise the money to pay the taxes. Some way, So consumers get hit. And if you're saving for your retirement in a four to one pay in an ira and the stock market in your home and land, you see those taxes on the taxes on corporations actually reduce the value of your life savings. So favors consumers. Workers pay the corporate income tax and all do the you do with the corporating camp. Taxes hide that the middle
class is being looted. When the property tax people come and tax the local grocery store you go to, who do you think pays the property tax the grocery store. No, No, you when you buy potatoes. Okay, So they like to hide the taxes, and the corporate income tax is a great way to hide that they're screwing the middle class and pretending it comes from somebody else.
Now, lastly, when corporate taxes are raised, the price of the product or service goes up and the consumer pays all the corporate taxes is simply a pass through. But too many Democrats can't understand that. Secondly, about the deficit, I read an article recently about the bricks. What's happening with the bricks which is Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa. About fourteen other nations have joined. They want the dollar
not to be the reserve currency because it's unreliable. They're claiming that if we keep borrowing a trillion dollars every one hundred days, that the value of our dollar will be much less because dollars we print it and the answerest rates what goes up because you have to pay more money to attract more investors. How much of a problem for long term health of America is a deficit of this character.
There is a problem, but it's the spending. It's the total spending. The deficit is the part of the iceberg you can see. It's the part of spending that is beyond what's taxed. Okay, But if you were spending at ten dollars and the government said, well, we're going to take nine by taxes and borrow one. Okay, Oh, here's an improvement. We're going to take off ten. That doesn't free opp resources. The problem is the size of the government. So the real cost of government Milton Friedman said this
in million times, and we need to remember it. The real cost of government is total government spending, whether they take the money from you or borrow it. It is gone from the real economy. So yes, that total spending get high enough there they're not. They get scared to raise the taxes to meet it. It is a sign the government is spending too much. But the problem is not the deficit itself. It's the totals, and definite is
the piece of the problem. The bigger problem is total government spending what gets sucked out of the real economy, and that's what we need to keep down. I'm not worried that the countries you list are going to replace the dollar, because it's sad and sorry as our government can be, those are all worse. It's so good luck trying to get them to have a currency that works. But we do need to have a stronger currency, and that means spend less money, lower regulations, lower taxes, more growth.
Grover norquest to atr dot org American for tax reform a friend of mine. But recently build a home that costs five million dollars, and when someone hears that day, I think that is ridiculous that someone in Cincinnati, Ohio can actually spend five million dollars. I say to that person, Look that five million dollars wasn't put in a pile of bonfire and burned that five million dollars. One of the pockets of the blacktopper, the carpenter, the plaster or
the drywall, or the kitchen manufacturer, the flooring. The trust is the roof itself. So when someone rich spends money, that money goes in the pockets of the middle class, and that feels their lifestyle. They then have better income they pass on to someone else, to pass on to someone else, to pass on to someone else. So when some rich person like a Mark Zuckerberg buys a hundred million dollar a yacht, how bad is that? I listen
to some congressional testimony. That's terrible. He spent one hundred million dollars. Well, where did one hundred million dollars go? And one of the pockets and middle class workers who built the damn thing?
Am I right or wrong?
Now?
You're right? And what Zuckerberg has done is created tens of billions of dollars of value that is in the one case, and individual retirements counts and pensions of millions of Americans, and that we ought to have. That's good when when the value of that stock goes up, the people who benefit. He doesn't need an extra billion dollars he's got. You know, if you take money from him, it's not like he doesn't have a house. He doesn't
have a jot if he wants one. That just comes out of the investment that he has in his company, in the jobs of the people who work for him. Right, he's busy inventing stuff. He's a little quieter about it, but he's another regular Elon Musk in terms of the kind of stuff that he's been investing in and making products and creating new opportunities. That's why the United States leads the world on all the interesting new technologies because we, as bad as we sometimes do it, we're less horrible
than all the other governments in the world. But we can do better. That's that's not the market that we need to be significantly better in our growth, in our job creation, in the people that we are able to hire here in the United States. So this we're going to win the competition internationally. I think Trump's tax cuts are a huge step in the right direction. And the idea of Elon Musk and the they going through the regulations and say let's get rid of half of the
regulations we have. They're not only not helpful, they're destructive.
Gotta run.
Grover norquestatr dot org. Thanks again for coming on the Bill Cunningham Show. The truth will set us all free. Grover Norquest, thank you very much.
Good to be with you.
Thanks though, Bill Cunningham, the Grand American live with you every Sunday night. Hi, Billy Cunningham the Great American. Thanks for listening this rather frigid Sunday night. At least in large parts of the country, including the South, and I live a little Cincinnati, Ohio. If anyone ever talks about global warming again, I may kick them between the lakes. I know it's all about climate change, but climate change is every about every three months. Anyway, I'm talking about
global warming. Guess what doesn't exist, and it's used as an excuse as a reason to spend lots of money on ridiculous programs.
It won't change a darn thing.
In fact, if you think about it, in California, for the last i don't know, fifty years, ninety five percent of the time the city has been completely controlled by the Democratic Party, and for twelve of the last sixteen years the president's been a Democrat. So what you're seeing in Los Angeles is the result of what the result of democratic policies on the environment, that is what's happening.
And so if these are the results of democratic policies, I don't know what in the world's going on around this place, because it's not good. And when you pick your leaders based upon obsessions with woke dei in climbate extremism and homelessness and firing those like firefighters in Los Angeles seven hundred were fired because they wouldn't take the vaccines. When open borders and illegals and you spend all the money possible on those circumstances and then a fire breaks out,
which is predicted. L is built on a desert and a grassland. There should be nothing between the ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains. But for economic reasons, the Hollywood left and others built all these mansions tens of thousands, in an area in which is going to burn in a regular basis, which means you must be prepared, like Ron DeSantis is prepared in Florida for hurricanes. You gotta be prepared. And to hire a Dei mayor who spends her time in Ghana or Cuba that as Karen Bass
the mayor makes no sense at all. You should hire by competency, not by gender, race, or sexual orientation. Would you agree? Let's continue with more Next Sunday Night. Bill cunning into Great American with you every Sunday Night.
