Hello and welcome to Big Gay Energy. I'm Caitlin. And I'm Fiora. Come along with us while we dive into the fun and nuances of queer media. Representation matters, and we're. Here to talk about it. Cheers, queers. What's on the big gay agenda today, Fiora? Today it's time for a book club. If you're due to book club, this is an episode where we read one queer book a month usually and discuss the book in our Discord server. It's like this informal kind of

like book club dealy. If you want to talk books with us, come join us over there. This month, however, we did something super special where we're talking about a full series. So this month we're talking about the Loyal Pin Volume One and Volume 2. If you're here, you probably know of the Loyal Pin because of the new Free Becky series that's coming out very soon. No, no one knows. About it, Fiora, No, it's a big

mystery. I just assume if you weren't aware, our reaction to the trailer, teasers, et cetera, or on our YouTube page, go check that out. But it's based on a book series written by Mon Ma and we are going to talk about in this episode, volume one and then our next episode Volume 2. So with that being said, if you're here because you're like loyal pin TV show, we are about to spoil everything in these books, which will in turn spoil the entire show. So like if you're not into that,

don't listen to these. If you're like yes, I want to know more about that and know about like what to expect or what's going to be different. Come along on the ride with us 'cause we promise it's going to be super fun, super gay and just super fun and amazing. I'm excited. You don't want to be spoiled. Wait till the show comes out, but come back and watch. This then come back and be like, what was the book? Like and where are predictions

correct? OK, so anyway, if you're a fan of Loyal Pin in general, our full reaction to any trailers or episodes we may watch, we don't really know what's gonna happen yet because it's not out. We don't have our schedule done, but anything we do will be fully on Patreon. So go over there and you can also get these episodes early before YouTube and you don't have ads over there. So go check out Patreon. If you're watching on YouTube, please make sure that you like this video.

Subscribe to the channel, leave a comment below your thoughts. What do you hope happens in the show compared to the books? What did you think about the books? We want to know everything and your engagement helps it the video reach other people. And we want more people to come spread the joy of queer content because let's be real, that's why we're here, right? Anyway, if you're listening, please rate and review wherever you're able to.

If your platform doesn't allow you to leave a review, go to Pod Chaser, I believe. Just make sure that other people know that it's a fun time over here. We want more people to join us and by joining us, you can also come to our Discord and talk to us because we love having

conversations about media. If you couldn't tell because we don't talk enough about it. And also last thing, just follow us on all social media at Big Gay Energy pod because there's so many ways to connect with us that why aren't you doing it already? So with that, let's get into the book. You are muted. Also, if you have no idea what to leave in a comment, just stick around until the end and Caitlin will give you a secret word of hers that you can leave as your review.

And you get bonus points from us if you just randomly leave this word somewhere. It brings us so much joy, so there's that. It does. Sometimes we forget what the word is. And then if we if we get in a comment with the word like you're like, what is going on? And then we're like, oh, wait, that's we did the word to. That episode, it's amazing. So if you wanna, if you have been one of those people and you've probably gotten comments from us, we're like, you're our

hero 'cause it's really funny. All right, last, last little quick thing for book clubs in general or just in general for media, if there's anything you want us to cover, like in a book club, a reaction video, a discussion, leave that in the comments as well. Like our schedule's pretty full, but we, we do take your comments seriously. That's how we ended up with our new should we watch this series? Like just tell us and we will get to it eventually.

So please let us know what you want us to cover. OK. And now let's jump into the low pin. So low pin, we're talking today. We're talking about volume one. There's two volumes. Today's first one, this is written by Mon Ma. We read the English translated versions that were translated by key lock and key. So thank you both for translating it so we can read it. I we could try to read the the original, but I I don't think we get anything out of it. No, it would be damn it.

And we have to go like Thai, and that looks interesting. By the time we learn the language, the show's out so in a bit of hot mess. So thank you to the translators. What is this book about? So short synopsis. I think I got this from Goodreads. The story of So. This is Loaip in volume one. The story of the prim and proper Lady Pin and the naughty but charmingly lovely Princess and Nilopet. The two are brought together by fate and have since grown up

together. Will they grow feelings for each other too? Will they? I don't know. Isn't that why we're here? I don't know. I don't think they will. They're both girls. How could they have feelings? For each other. I know it's madness, absolute madness. OK, that's basically the premise

of the book. And we're gonna get into basically all the spoilers, like the whole book, plus what we've seen in the trailers, plus screenshots we've seen of the show and kind of just talk about all those kind of things. So spoilers ahead again, if you're not into that, don't watch this. Watch this after you seen the show, whatever. But full disclaimer though, that I will be saying for every time we talk about this, OK all.

If you haven't noticed, all hosts in attendance of the Big Energy podcast today are not fluid in the Thai language. We are not members of this culture, nor are we residents of the part of the world where this book is set. Therefore, we are limited in our perspective of this piece of media and cannot analyze it without our Western American life experiences and biases. We did our very uh huh. Emphasis on American. So that'll give you even further

limitation. Sorry. Correct. We did our best to research Thai culture, to put this book into context, but we are not experts on the topic and we want to be transparent about that before going any further. So we will likely make mistakes, we will miss things, we'll interpret things incorrectly just because of where we grew up. So please just let it correct us in the comments. Like we're, we're on a journey to learn too. So like, please correct us or help us out.

We appreciate everyone that does so. OK, Caitlin, let's get into it. So without super spoiling anything, how would you review the Loyal Pen volume one? So my, my, my description of it is baby gays grow into adult gays who get separated and can't U-Haul for seven years. That's a good one. My spoiler free review is a slow burn champagne problems but gayer plus a super amazing sidekick that deserves her own point. Looking at you, Rick. That's all.

I've known about this show for so long, was just. Perfect. Before I, I mean, it's a great take away. OK, so we're gonna mix things up going forward and we're just gonna hydrate the book, rate the book, hydrate on our we're gonna hydrate. I'm gonna hydrate now. I I need to? You you need to OK, that should tell you something if you

weren't aware. OK, so we're gonna rate this book based on our super scientific Lesbian Jesus Hydration Scale, which is a our way of determining how valuable a piece of queer media is in the global library of queer media. Why are we hydrating? Because water, like queer media, is essential for life. So, Caitlin, how much would you hydrate for Lesbian Jesus? For the foil pen of volume one? It's a loaded question. 7 1/2. 7 1/2 That's a good one. I'm gonna give it a nine. Honestly.

It's an easy read. It's super fun. Pricks. Amazing. Like it's funny. It was sweet. I'm here for the champagne problems. All right, so let's get into it. Let's talk about it. OK, so first, before we talk about the book, let's talk about what everybody's probably here for. There is ATV show adaptation. If you weren't aware, it's going to be produced by Idol Factory who did Gappa series in conjunction with the Thai royal government, which is a really

interesting component. And we got confirmation that it's going to start airing after My Marvelous Dream Is You End, so in like August of this year. This show and the book has two main characters. Basically there's Princess and Nilipat, which is played by Becky in the show. The nickname is where things get weird. Oh my gosh, no, I'm really pissed off about this right now. I'm. More confused about this than I was before. OK so Anilapat.

In the book she has a nickname she goes by and it's spelled Anil which I think is pronounced Anil. However in the trailer we saw her nickname is Anin ANIN and it's spelled like that in the English translation. Then when I went to go re watch this without the English subtitles, in different subtitles her nickname is spelled Anil. So I'm like what is her nickname? Am I pronouncing it wrong?

OK so I watched Free and Becky react to this trailer and I believe Becky says Anil Anil at some point and then I think later corrects herself to anin it's so. Confusing. See, even Becky's confused. So you know what? I'm here for that. I also wonder if it's like, OK, the other thing too is in the book basically like, yeah, she has a nickname, but she has this like quirky way of referring to herself in like the Super. What the hell? In the Super informal.

Yeah, thanks, Thanks webcam in this super informal way, like she referred like she'll say her own informal name. So I wonder if like maybe she has two nicknames. There's like an official nickname and like her super intimate nickname she uses with Pin. So like maybe it is a nil, but it's also an in cause an in was the name that Pin said out loud in the trailer. So like maybe maybe she has two, I don't know. I know. That's an interesting theory for

people listening. Theor's webcam gave a thumbs up. It did. It randomly does things so I just wanted to make sure that the listeners understood what just happened. So if theor goes what the hell? It's usually a thumbs up, thumbs down, fireworks. We don't know, My webcam just goes off randomly and it brings me joy or frustration. So I think we're just gonna call

her Anil in the book. Yeah, 'cause that that's what it was in the book and we're just gonna stick with that because we're talking mostly about the book. So like in the comments, if you're like her names and in in the show, sure, but we're talking about the book. So we're we are gonna refer to her as Anil. So just FYI, it's how. I know. Her as yeah, it's like all I I was. If you watch our reaction, we're like, wait, what? That's not her name. So anyway, that's what that's

coming from. OK, but who, regardless of her name, who is an Ella pet. So she's described as why is beyond her age. Like she's a young girl when we meet her, she's grows up to be she's very striking looking, very beautiful and is very clever and just like gets into trouble constantly, which is hilarious. She's the youngest sibling of the royal family where this takes place, and she's everybody's favorite member of

the family. Like she's just the baby and the favorite and no one's shy about that at all, no. Everyone at all, this girl. And they're just like, I love her the most. I want my own child to be basically her. And it's just like, wow. Like they really favoritize her a lot, which is good and funny. All right. But she has other siblings, so she has like the middle child. She has two brothers. The middle child is known as Vice Prince Anon.

I don't know if these names will be changed in the show, but whatever. They have a 12 year age difference despite like being the middle child. And basically he raised her like he looks at her as like a kind of like a daughter figure because of the age gap. And then the oldest brother is the grand Prince and not a lot. And he's the one who's like the heir to the throne when like the father kind of dies and steps down. And then there's Princess Alyssa, who's her mother, so

that's like her family. And then there's just the king. They just call him The king is like the dead. Then we have, I don't know how to say Pin's name. I'm not gonna lie, lady. I think it's Pilentitha lady. Pilentitha. Yeah, I think so too. I can't tell if ages are silent or not. I think they are, but she's played by Free and her nickname is Pin. She's like the opposite basically. She's super shy. She's a very isolated girl who's like raised in a super

conservative household. She's described as being like very fragile. But the key is that like she comes alive and blossoms into like a person when she's around. And I'll basically. And part of her struggle is that like her parents passed away unexpectedly when she was really young. And so she was adopted by her aunt and so but. But her parents passed away because there was a huge storm and the ship was wrecked. So is she, Elsa? She's not a Princess, but she's

Elsa like for sure. We never hear her sing, so maybe Frain will see him though. That'd be amazing. So she was raised by Princess Padmeka who or Princess Auntie Pad and she's kind of like she's related to like Anil's family, but she's more so like she was adopted by essentially Anil's dad and almost seen as like a sister, like an adoptive sister.

So he treats her as like part of the family, but Pad is very like strict and adherent to like all the traditions that come with royal family, like social structure. So she like very much like quote, like knows her place in this family. And so she's very dedicated to like Anil's family basically. So she like lives on the property, like the swath of land that they own and like has her own like palace. But she's like feels indebted essentially to the king because he like took her in and like

saved her basically. And so that's kind of like their connection to each other. So like they're like very, very, very distantly related, but they're in close proximity like Anil and Pin because of this, like taking in of lady pad kind of situation who then eventually adopts Pin situation. But she's very traditional. So you can imagine how poor Pin was raised, like repression with a capital R Don't say that.

All right, So where the book begins and likely where the show's gonna begin because there is casting of children in this. It starts when Anil, like unofficially, but very obviously starts courting Pin. Like, that's where the book picks up. For context, Anil is 14 and Pin is 15. So they're very young teenagers when their whole, like, romance kind of starts. One of them is very aware of what's happening and one is not. I am more impressed that there's only a year age gap in between

them. I I think that's the smallest age gap we've seen in this time of year so far. Yeah, and like, it causes all this confusion cause like, technically Pin is older, but like Anil outranks her socially. So there's all these conversations slash internal monologues of like, I'm supposed to call you Auntie, but that's weird 'cause you're younger than me. Out of like, respect socially, it's this whole thing. And she's like, just call me Anil.

Just drop the formality. It's like she's like, I want to date you, so just call me Anil. It's so funny. Anyway. But that, yeah, I'll bring it up in a little bit. Continue. Something I want to say now that I will say consistently throughout this book slash show is maybe all have the confidence of Anil. Her confidence is insane and it's off the chart and like I hydrate for that confidence like girl day. I I will hydrate after this next

sentence. I feel like the only person who comes close to this amount of confidence is Renee Rapp. Yeah, no, you know what Anil in modern times would be Renee Rapp. You were absolutely the way she just like, again, she's just 14 years old. She's like, I don't care. There were women I'm going after you and Pin have no idea what's going on. Unapologetically herself, literally like she's just like,

so I'm gonna hydrate for that. And one of my favorite things about the books, if you read the preface, like Mama leaves this thing, it's very sweet. My favorite thing in the preface is she's like, as I was writing this, I was like, I love Anil. I was like, girl, I love Anil. Where may we all find Anil because holy fuck like the girls got a mad game. That's what I'm saying. And it's just let's guess to it now. Love, love, love, love.

All right, so back to what you just said about the name and like titles, I noticed that there's a comparison to Gap, especially what we pointed out. So there's a quote when they first met and when they were alone together, Princess Anila Fat tried to convince Pillentita to call her by her name not to use the world titles because friends don't talk like that and I just love that they address that.

Especially when Diora kept going off about Sam her using the title in Gap I. Agree I This is why I love a nil. I'm like exactly She's like listen I don't want you to be intimidated by me 'cause I want to wife you one day. Like, at 14, she already was, like, making the plans. That's how it Like, Anil's a mastermind. Like, she's just, like, already plotted out literally everything. And she's like, no, no, no. But we're friends. You can call me wife too if you want.

I don't know. Whatever you want. Like, Well, yeah, I do love that detail from Anil because she's trying to put them on equal playing field because she's very conscious of what she's doing. I love her. Anyway. Thank you for pointing that out. OK. But Anil does not act alone, because Anil low key recruits her loyal confidant and equally mischievous servant Prick. And Prick is played by Lucknam if you remember Queen Jim from Gap the series.

And OK, at first when I wrote these notes I couldn't find any stills of her, which was rude. Why are there none of her? And also, where is her own show? First of all that. Actor yeah no, at this point the next step has to be her own show because it's just mean if they don't she's. Always the supporting, like Ally to everybody who's queer, but like, where's her show anyway? That just makes me mad. We're rooting for you, Locknum. So.

But I have Stills with her now, so now I'm happy so it's less rude. But it took me a while to find Stills with. Her no, that's. The rude part I know she should be a thumbnail. Like seriously? Anyway, I will die on that hill. She deserves her a joke. OK, so like I've said earlier, Anil and and Prick are now she like recruits Prick to like help

her on all these things. I don't think actually in the beginning, I don't know if Prick knows exactly what Anil's doing, but like over time, Prick knows exactly what Anil was doing 'cause they're, they're very close. But Lady Pin has no fucking idea what. She's clueless as fuck. But we get like her, a lot of the book is told from her point of view. So we do get her, like, inner monologues and how she's feeling. But like, she she recognized that she has different feelings around Vidnell.

She's like, oh, my heart's fluttering. I don't understand what's happening. So she's like, figuring that out. Whereas Vidnell's like, I'm trying to wipe her. Like, that's what I'm doing. Yeah. 14. Like she's very aware of like what she's doing. I feel like Lady Pin is the epitome of the gay experience of growing up and not seeing the sides. Like I very much relate to Pin being like not gullible but just like not aware by what is happening what feelings are.

To be fair, like 3rd yacht, like the fact that Anil at 14 is like I'm wiping her and then Anil and then pin at 15's like what are these feelings like that's understandable. Like Anil is just ahead of her time is like the thing she's like. Especially with not having representation around correct. Like, OK, other things to take to we should have warned you about this takes place in like the 1940s, fifties, depending on like the trajectory of all of

this. So like, yeah, like queerness was definitely not a thing being talked about or accepted really like in this part of the world that is time period. So like the exactly the fact the Princess is like her like is just wild and she's very persistent and like because. They all grow up and like, you're going to get married off. But now she's like, no, I'm going to live in this castle. Not actually a castle, but like in this palace with my wife and

literally great. And that's the that's the book. It's amazing. All right, so how does Anil start courting Penn? So basically what she does as a child, it's like makes a bunch of excuses to just spend more time with Penn. My favorite one is that basically, OK, imagine like the palace grounds are huge. So like even to go between palaces, they have to like get into cars to like travel to each other's houses. And so school obviously is like far away.

So they have personal drivers that take them to school. And like Anil has her own driver 'cause she's in a different part of the property, like the front palace versus Penn who's at a different palace on the property. So they have different drivers that take them to school 'cause they don't live truly that close to each other. So what Anil does is she sends her driver in just like circles around the property and then she goes over to pins and is like,

can you take me to school? My driver's not here. So she like masterminds a situation where she's like, I have more time with you alone in the car every freaking morning when we go to school. And I, I'm pretty sure that scene for sure is going to like be in the show 'cause they have stills of like the young actors, Anil and Penn in the car together. So and those little like. At most like eight, though in this, but they're they're

adorable. I am very excited to see like the different actors playing it but the the little one, isn't that the same one who plays little Mon in gap? Oh, I have no idea. Maybe. Because I I just don't know that that face and that little smile looking up at well, Sam, yeah, like that's the same smile and like the same look. So I I'm pretty sure it's the same child. Maybe that's. What makes sense but like and Sam the the girl who plays Sam was too older. Yeah, I was older.

For this. So they had to get someone else, yeah. Definitely could be. I mean, it's I Idol Factory tends to like have their own collection of actors that they reuse, so it's very possible that's the same actor. I tried to look up the name of the little actress but I couldn't. There's only the main people. Yeah, yeah, that's all I could find. Also of like who's playing what to be like, what else have they been in? So yeah, I'm with you. They're.

There's a lot, there's a lot of scenes when they're younger and now that I've seen like the other trailer, I think they will try to make Free and Becky younger, which I personally don't like 'cause I'm like, you can only make them look so young. I mean like they they don't look like they're 14 and 15, but I wonder if they will intercut the children more because their childhood is such a big part of the story. I know I'm not at a lie.

Before the official trailer came out, that's what I was worried about. I'm like, I don't know if they're really gonna dive that deep into this, but I agree with you. I'm like, that's such an important part of the story. It's most of the first book. It's. Most of the book. Yeah, exactly. So continue. Oh yes, big pack. Excuses, you know, makes to see pin this one is. Great, Yes, this, this one, this one is a journey that so funny, so so anal comes over to the BUA. Bua Bua Palace.

Yeah, that's where Pin lives. It's Bua. Palace, career Palace we see everywhere. Yeah, what do you mean Theora? It's totally unique anyway, the vua palace with a glass box that contains a Caterpillar that pin mistakes for a worm because just be aware. Oh like OK, Anil explains that it is a Caterpillar and she's raising it into a butterfly then pin ass. That's unbelievable. How could such a fat Caterpillar

turn into a light butterfly? Which you know, is not an outrageous question because it's very weird that that happens. Like even my little brain was just like how? Like I understand the cocoon and everything but like. But also. How? How? OK, so when I read that, I interpreted fat to mean heavy, and the contrast between her saying the fat cat pillar and light butterfly made me wonder if it would become a metaphor for Pin's journey throughout the vocal. And we talked about it.

It's evident that Anil knew that she loved Pin from the moment she met her. Like maybe even before. I feel like she just got this intuition, like there's someone out there like she's really close. Anyway, yeah. Exactly, but it isn't until they are older that Pin actually realize it. So Pin is a Caterpillar heavy with expectations on her by her aunt and not knowing who she is and when. Anila's away from her for seven years. She's in this cocoon, just waiting.

But when Anil comes back, Pin realizes what her feelings actually mean. And now that she has answers, she is a light butterfly. This basically ruins the whole book, but I mean, you've already read it if you're here anyway. And I could have also said that it could foreshadow a Nil coming back being the most beautiful thing anyone has ever seen because the book emphasized that, which I also haven't. I have an issue with that in general, but I think I'll get

into that later anyway. But the chapter ends with Anil giving the box to pin to look after, so it becomes her responsibility. So I think that this is all about. Pin's journey, I love that so much 'cause yeah, like, hence like the, the descriptive Pin where she like comes alive around Anil. It's like the light and heavy thing. It's like she's unburdened when she's herself with a nil, which

is very true. When she's not with Anil, she's very burdened by everything and gets is prone to like depression and things like that. It's really sad. But the other part I love about this is that basically, why did Anil do this? She got the Caterpillar. She's like, she's curious. She's like I read about in a textbook and I wanna make sure it's true that like the Caterpillar becomes the butterfly. I need to see it with my own two eyes, 'cause she's very smart.

Like she's a very smart person and then she gives it to pin and her reasoning is, well, I want to make sure this transformation is real. If you take care of it, then I have to come to you to see the butterfly. So it's like an excuse for her to be like, I have a reason to go Pin is watching my Caterpillar. I have to go see her. So she's like, that way I have an alibi to be like, why are you always a Pin the butterfly mom? Like, but no one's gonna ask why can't you just keep the

Caterpillar over here? Well, mom's like, I don't want a Caterpillar in the main palace. That's gross. So she's like, I'm gonna give it to pin. So I have an but she's flat out tells Pin that because she's basically trying to be like, I wanna see you every day. Like that's a way to be like, because pin doesn't know what the fuck's going on. So it's Anila being like Anila's super patient with Pin, which is like the remarkable part. So she's like, I'm just gonna get used to the fact that I'm

gonna be around all the time. I'm. Happy to use. Her into it solely. Yeah, exactly. She's like, I'm just gonna come here every day. Pin, do you understand? It's like, I think it's like, yes, I understand. This is great. It's mutual, though. It's not. It would be really weird if it wasn't. I mean, we have some of that going on with other characters, so we'll get it done later. Anyway, I want the scene now I. I hope we get the scene too.

It's very cute. The other scene that I was hoping we'd get but we're definitely getting because they're screenshots, is the temple festival scene. It's very cute and just like a very meaningful scene. So like, I'm glad it's in here. It's gonna be in the show, but excuse me. OK, so apparently Prick and Anil sneak out to this temple festival apparently all the time because of course they do. But this is the year that Anila

bites Pin, so it's different. And Pin is the goodest girl to ever girl, mostly because her guardian Antipad is super traditional and strict. So at first she's like I cannot do that, that's it's dangerous to go outside at night without an adult. But Anila's asking her, so she goes this time. I would never be able to say no to a no like that girl is so convincing and the peer pressure is just too much. And too much and then prick is also there to make it worse. So it just still works.

They double deeper all the time. And I was like, no, you got to. Just like come play with. Us literally, that's why I love the scene is it's just if it's they're not supervised so there's no adults. So this is the a scene of them just being themselves around each other, and it's just a cute glimpse of them just having fun. Like outside of like the social constraints, like the gilded cage they live in basically.

And here and outside of the palace is when Anil can also treat because Prick is a servant. OK, they're the same age. Well, actually Prick's a little bit older, but she's basically the servant that was assigned to Anil. Like she grew up in the palace and is like assigned to Anil, but outside Unger. No, I think, I think she's slightly older, but I can't. They're around the same age. I don't remember exactly.

Yeah, but outside of the palace walls, Anil treats Prick like her friend 'cause that's how she sees Prick. But she's like, you don't need to call me anything. Like we're just friends. Like we're friends. But like in the palace, we have to play the games of the palace. She's like here, just call me Anil and whatever. Like we're friends. So I love that about them, that like Anil's like drop the formalities. We're just, we're just two people who get along really well. It's totally fine.

And this is where we get prick being prick and one of prick's hallmark characteristics and that she's a, she's very food motivated, so she's obsessed with eating everything insight. She's like, and they'll buy me all the food. And I was like, OK, sure, treat yourself, do whatever. And just Oh my God, prick and food is so funny. And that's a theme that never ends. I feel like Prick is kind of like a nose pet that she just loves to spoil. Yes, she's like.

Yes, happy here's here's a treat that's. So good. No, it's their friendship is very sweet and adorable. But yeah, Prick is always eating. And like any time they don't need to get prick away. She's like, there's dumplings in there. You should go over there and eat them. She gets rid of prick when she's trying to be able. You don't need. To tell prick toys. No, she's already gone and she'll eat them in like 3 seconds. They're always like, slow down, you're gonna choke.

That's pretty sure. She does choke at one point, you know? So anyway, what I'm saying is that Lachlan has a lot to work with with the comedy aspect of Prick and I cannot wait. The gap, it was a a baby in this one, it's food. Oh. Thank God it's not a baby 'cause it's a baby in my marvelous dream is you also and it's. Oh, you're for a different plot line. Oh my gosh, that's. I know she deserves her own show.

I'm saying OK. Other take away from this temple scene is that it's like one of the first times ever that like Pin gets to have fun with people her own age 'cause I feel like she's she's trapped with her not trapped, but like she's being taken care of by her aunt. So she's constantly around like older adults and so always being treated like a child, right. But here she's with her peers unsupervised.

So she just gets to like, and it's like in a way, she's like rebelling for the first time because she's out here where she shouldn't be like experiencing freedom. And that's, that's the gift that Anila gives her. She's like, this is what your life could be like if you just were able to live your life. Isn't this great kind of thing? It's like her first taste of freedom. And it's very sweet that like Anil facilitates this. And Pin overall has a lot of fun doing this.

And there's one really cute scene that's like a Hallmark thing that's also in the show, which I'm really excited about. So food, right? So they, they eat street foods at the at the temple and one of the things at temple festival and one of the things they eat is cotton candy. And it's like they're color coding, which is really fun. So Anil gets blue 'cause that's her favorite color. And so and then she's like pin, I got you pink. And she's like, why would you do that?

She's like, well, it's your favorite color. And she's like, I've noticed everything you ever wear is like and then and no, snitches on herself. And she's like, I've noticed everything you wear is pink. Your room is pink. Like all these things like because then Nil clocks all the information about Pin away and it's like, I'm watching you. I've noticed you kind of thing.

And they're definitely color-coded in this show because there's like the scene of them dancing with like Pin in the pink and Nil in the blue, which is I think good because it's like, again, like lady pin is supposed to be like the pinnacle of what a lady should because she's being like raised to essentially be like a proper lady.

And she's always doing things like supervising cooking like her her aunt does, making fancy foods, like making decorations for parties, like things that ladies are expected to do. So like being in a traditionally quote commercialized feminine color like pink makes sense. Also, she's like portrayed as a young woman, so like pink also makes sense to color code her as whereas a nail on the other hand, is a is a very calm, cool, collected, intelligent person and she gets compare.

I'll bring this up later, but she gets gets compared to like the sky because of her status. So she's higher up. So like blue, especially like a light like sky blue totally makes sense as like a Nils color, but she goes through different like shades of blue, which is like indicative of like her maturity, her headspace over time. So like good color coding choices. And I do I like this that it starts here and it's like, I'm noticing you and this is your favorite color.

Don't deny it. Pens like I guess that is my favorite color. Like damn. I know we talked about it before, but that the colors used to be flipped for the representation. Do we know when that happened? Wait, what? Like the blue used to be for girls and pink used to be. I mean, we didn't really have colors assigned to people. It came out in the 50s when they started commercializing. It's like when the baby boom happened and they were selling

more baby themed products. Like manufacturers kind of like upped it, like color coding clothing became a thing. It was a way to sell clothing in America and that kind of like stuck. So it's a very recent girls are pink, boys are blue thing. It's not real. We just made it up to sell stuff. That makes sense. Especially when America started. All right, all right, so this is a really fun and like cute

outing. But naturally they get caught like one of the one of their like adult, not adult, but like older chaperones. I was like, fuck, you guys are here. Shit, you're the Princess. They're like, damn it. So they have to, they have to go back and, and it was like we're gonna stop at Pin's first. We're not going to my oh, I'm not separating from Pin. We're gonna go back to Pin's house 'cause her aunt is super strict as fuck. So they go back to the Bua Palace for Auntie Pad's punishment.

And we mentioned earlier, based on the description of the house, it's like this yellow house with like green trim. It's that famous house. This is in every tie show ever. So like pretty sure this is the Bua Palace that we keep hearing about. And then we get one of my other favorite. There's so many good scenes, but this one is amazing. Again, Anil's 14. Just remember this, it's amazing.

So she again insists on escorting Pin back home and like the person that picked them up has no authority to say no to her. So they're like, OK, OK, Princess, you can go Antipad immediately is like cracks down on Pin and she's like, why I have to punish you because you disobeyed me and Pin and and she's like, well, you know, the Princess asked me. I'm like saying, oh, the Princess, she's like, you can definitely say no, this was bad.

Like, what the hell? So hence, like, I guess I'll take my punishment 'cause she's very respectful towards her, her aunt, she doesn't really harbor any ill will. She's very grateful she took her in and all this stuff. So she's being like the perfect girl who's like, yes, I'll take my punishment 'cause that's what she just had to do. But inhale the Princess is like, well, like she said, this is my

fault because I invited her. So therefore you have to also punish me. And to quote the king who said this earlier about Anil, he says punishing Anila's hard because she thinks like a lawyer and you can't reason with her easily. So she, like, knew this was gonna play out like this. And she's like, you gotta punish her. You gotta punish me too, and I outrank you, which makes this very complicated. I also had this quote

highlighted. It is because I love it so much and I feel like it's so true because how do you punish someone if their logic is sound like it's good logic. I love those kids like these types of kids. I'm like, OK, you're just smart. You know how to play the system at this point, get rewarded for it. I mean, the way you would normally handle this is like pull rank and say I'm the adult. You do what I say, but this is a genius move because Anil socially outranks Pad, so she

can't do that here. So she's like, Anil is trapping her and saying, OK, because initially the punishment from Auntie Pad was she's like, for seven days and seven nights, you're gonna like be punished. And then Anil's like, mm, hmm, you're gonna do that to me too. My King's probably not gonna like that. So Pad's like, fuck, I can't also do that to the Princess. She ends up like. In this conversation, be like, fine, one afternoon you have to

come here. I'm gonna quote punish you by making you guys like copy textbooks. So it like she's Anil saves pin from like a week of punishments. It goes down to like two hours and basically they serve the punishment together. So, like, what? A what a move because she knew the aunt couldn't, like, actually enact what she was saying she was gonna do. Like, that's just the power of vanilla. It's so she's 14 and, like, already figured this out. He's a genius, is what. I oh Anil is dangerous.

She's dangerous, Yeah, but like, damn, Pin, that is somebody that is wife material. I'm just saying. Anyway, so they're punishment. So they're at the the Bua Palace and they're hanging out copying textbooks. Naturally, Pin is like, yes, that's what Auntie Pad said. I'm doing it. Anil is not doing that. She's just like, I'm here to hang out with you. I don't know what the spirit is. She's like, whatever. So instead she takes the opportunity to just flirt with

pen. And one of Anil's like defining characteristics is she loves drawing. And so she's like, I'm not writing whatever this is. It's already in the she's like, I already memorized the textbook, so if she asks me anything, I can just recite something. So I'm not writing this. And it's like, wow. So she's like, instead I'm going to draw. So she's like drawing Pin, like one of her French girls. And then which is very cute.

And Pin's like, that's what you'd think I look like because Anil's not great at drawing yet, but she's trying. And it's very cute. But like, the key thing she draws is her dream house. And she shares this with Pin. She's like, you know, one day I really want this little palace and I want to surround it with pine trees and I want to make it cozy. And she shows her the sketch of this little one story house. Not little. I mean, it's like little for royalty, but like, little thing.

So, like, remember that 'cause that comes back later in that same day, though, Anil concocts in the scenario that grants her access to Pin's room for the first time. So like, again, she's like, I'm just gonna take this punishment as an opportunity to, like, learn more things about you. So she somehow gets pinned to let her into her room. And she's like, oh, I'm in Pin's room. Of course she does. And that's where Fee discovers that or confirms that Pin's bedroom window outlook like

looks onto this courtyard. So right now it's just kind of like grassy plains basically in between all these houses that they have. And then and I was like, huh, well, I might as well build that dream House of mine right there in front of your window so you can always see me. And Pin notes that it's set in this dreamy voice. So put a pin in that. Literally. Like every time I read this I laugh. My ass off because that's Anil's intention.

Oh my God. OK, the other thing that Anil because Anil's like I'm in your room, I'm going to Snoop around basically because obviously. So the other thing she discovers by being here is that Pin hoards and Neil themed mementos. I love that Pin has no idea she's in love with Adele but here she is hoarding things and like treasuring them that are from Anil. But they're not just they're under her pillow. The handkerchief is under her pillow and and it was like, what?

So like it just emboldens a Nil even more. She's like, OK, this girl's into me. Got it. But and then she'll find things and and Nil's like, isn't that mine? And and and Pen's like, yeah, you left it in the car one time. And then she's like, I just never returned it. She's like it kept it. But the most not only are those those are embarrassing, obviously, because like Anil didn't know she had these things. And it's just like, OK, you kept my stuff under your pillow.

That's interesting. The most meaningful thing in the room that Anil knew about is a paper windmill that Anil gave her. And basically this was the first time they ever met and and Pin kept this.

And basically what Pin recalls from this is that when she was taken in my Auntie pad in the Boo house, like there's not a lot of kids like they're on the ground of like the palace, but like the only children there really that we know about are like Anil and prick if you want to put her in that category. So like Pin, not only was I is isolated by the structure she's in, like the royalty stuff, but she's like literally by herself. Like there's nobody for her to play with.

She was just with her aunt all the time and the only person who ever came to play with her was Anil. And when Anil came was wandering by with prick. There's, you know, playing as children do. They were making windmills, like little paper windmills. And Anil basically was like, what's your favorite color?

Which one do you like the most? And like spent the whole afternoon like fixating on making the most perfect windmill ever for Pin and like gives it to her at the end and she's like, no, this is a gift for you. I'm just giving it to you. Isn't it perfect? I gave you the best one. And pin was so like touched by this that not only like is somebody hanging out with her, but like put all this effort into like making something for her that like pin kept it forever, basically.

So in summary, these two have its have had it so bad for like years. Like it's bad. Like they're dead mad so bad. But another great dynamic we have to talk about is a nil and. Prick. Oh my God, yes, the best. And the first place I want to start with this is talking about Prick's name. So I was trying to figure out our word for the day of what I want people to put in the comments and reviews. And I find out that Prick means chili.

And I don't know about you, but I think it is very fitting because I feel like prick is very fiery. And yeah, there's, there's fire to her and I, it could probably be because she's friends with a nil and like that's what happens when you're friends with. A Nil. She's feisty for sure and like they're a perfect match and they're truly Their friendship is incredibly sweet. One of the things I love they bond over is like stealing

snacks from the kitchen. This comes up over and over again because for prick food motivated, she's like, yes, food, fancy foods that you're giving me, that's great. But for Anil, she likes the game of stealing. No, it's not just the like, 'cause like she's the Princess. She could be like, you want dumplings? I want dumplings and she would get them.

But she's like, that's not fun. It's more fun if we covertly sneak in and steal them And like the cooks all know and they're like, God damn it, No, there again. And they just like mostly they let her do it. But like for her, it's like outsmarting people is what she loves. And then Perk is like, I'm here for the food. That's the best. This game. And that's their thing they do for like years. It's like, it's very cute that that's what they fond over, truly.

Do you think that they make extra food and just like put it off? I think. That that's what she's doing. And they're just like, here we go. Like she's just gonna steal it. They're like, we have to make sure we have enough for laters, correct, They have. To fat a little bit extra. Dough but there's there's two quotes that I highlighted that I love and really encompasses their relationship.

So the first one is when the Princess wakes up every morning, the first thing she looks for is prick. When the Princess is back from school, she would hurry to change her clothes and go to see prick in the kitchen every day cause of course, that's where Prick is. And then the second one is Princess Anilipat must have prick by her side in order to collaborate committing mischievous things every day. And it's just their partners in crime when I guess Prick is supposed to be her servant.

And but it knows just like you are my partner, we shall commit crimes, fun crimes. Let's do it. Yeah. And. What I love about their dynamic is that yes, there is a power imbalance because technically, like Anil is her employer because of the whole the way this works, but Anil does everything. She, I mean, she yes, she has authority, but she's also like the youngest member of this family. So there's only like someone she

can do sometimes. So she does everything within her power to like lessen that imbalance. So she does things where she like, like Prick comments at one point in the book that like Anil takes time out of her playtime when they're younger to teach Prick how to read and write because quote, ensuring that no one can deceive Prick in the future. So like Anil does look out for Prick and like gives her skills to make her like even smarter

than all the other servants. She's like, I don't want people taking advantage of you. So I'm gonna, instead of us climbing trees, I'm gonna teach you how to read and write and things like that. Which is just. So adorable. And it's really. Cute it is and through prick we see that and no cares about others before herself. Like with someone who is being so like praised. I feel like anybody else would

have such a huge ego. Like yes, I'm the most beautiful, everyone wants to be like me, everyone wants their kids to be like me. But no, she cares about others and it seems that in at an early age she learned about this privilege, but she uses it to help those around her. And she is giving Prick the childhood that she deserves and wouldn't have been given if she was someone else's servant.

Yeah, and also knowledge is power, especially if Anil's lawyer reasoning rubs off on her, which Prick will need later in life. Anil's reasoning absolutely, absolutely rubs off on Prick. And truly it's one of the things that gets on Pins nerves because she's always like, you're equally mischievous, you're overlord and like, did Prick just outsmart me? What the fuck? Like, yeah, so like does, like, does Adele rubs off on her.

And it's so funny. It like, emboldens Prick and it makes her like, clever and just, it gets on Prick on Pin's nerves. And I cannot wait for their dynamic to just be on screen 'cause like it's so funny when Pin's like fuck did Prick just outsmart me? I can't wait to see the three of them together because we got a little bit of the three actors in GAP, but this time Lucknam is a bigger character, I feel like, and it'll just be very

entertaining to see the dynamic. Well also like the confidant switch is different between the actors 'cause she's gonna be on like Becky's side more so versus like being on free inside and her and free are the ones with the friction. So like I'm excited for those. Well, not that they didn't be gap, but like it's a different kind of like dynamic. It is a different dynamic, but at the same time I feel like that whole friend group changed to mod at one point. Exactly. I'm excited.

My God, it's gonna be amazing. And OK, wait, so just to go back on how Pin views Prick? So there's this moment. It's just this inner monologue about Prick. And it says, though Prick is intelligent and agile, unlike ordinary servants, her mannerisms like a lady should have not be found. I love that. OK, so unfortunately we have to like move on over all right? So unfortunately things well it's idle factor, right? So it's gonna get sad. So it's why idle factor's like

pain. We will definitely produce this. So all right, later that same year, we're they're 1415, everything starts changing. So Anila sent, you mentioned this earlier. Anila sent overseas to Europe for a minimum of seven years to further her education. This is what happened to her older brothers, OK. And I think this was really significant in the book of how unique Anil's situation actually is. So remember, this is like the 40s, fifties, OK? She's a woman. She's the youngest Princess.

Her job is getting married to a man of equal rank and like having babies. That's her whole job. But no, her father, the king, wanted to send her abroad because him and his advisors were like, I see a lot of potential in her. She acts like a lawyer. We should, we should invest in this.

And so he's like, we should, if we're going to do this, he's like, we need to send you now because you're young enough to like really pick up English, basically pick up other languages and be fluent and like have a shot at like whatever job you want. Like you'll have the best chance of success if we send you now. If we wait, it's probably gonna

be harder. So it shows how much her father really values her, not just as like a piece of property to marry off, which was like literally how a woman of her stature would have been viewed. That's how pad kind of views pin in a way, 'cause that's the traditional mindset. Her dad's like no, you're a little too. You're way too valuable. Let's go go and better yourself

basically. So I love that her gender doesn't like exclude her from the same treatment her brothers got despite this time period, which is great. So on the other hand, pin is like fuck that and she's just devastated this news because like that's her only friend really, that's her only like person of her age. Obviously she's having feelings here that she doesn't fully understand, but like, that's her source of happiness, basically.

And so when Anil goes overseas, she really loses her like spark of life and, and admits to Anil before she leaves. She's like, I'm gonna be really fucking lonely when you leave. And like she's like, I don't really want to be apart from you. And like you mentioned earlier, Caitlin, Anil's the type of person who like when she cares about people in her life, she really cares about them and will

put their needs first. So this confession, like really worries Anil. And so she leaves prick with Pin. She's like, you're my servant, but like, while I'm gone, take care of Pitt, which Pin likes and hates at the same time. But again, like Anila's like, you're my confidant, you're my best friend. Basically watch over her. I'm worried about her. And then she makes a promise to pin to write her a letter every single day for seven years, which she does.

Like she commits. She's like, you want this? I'm gonna do it. And I'm pretty sure the reason it happened is 'cause they do a pinky promise, because that makes it legally binding in Thailand and I'm Thailand. In Thailand it's legally binding. Also there's screenshots of the piggy promising I'm pretty sure. We have never seen so many piggy promises since we. It's not just the pinky promise, it's the enforcement of the

pinky. Every single type a pinky promise is made, it is. Legit or when it's not made, it's OK to break the promise. That also happens like well, you didn't, you didn't pinky promise with me, therefore it's not binding. I don't have to abide by this. So I'm pretty sure and no pinky promise because she fucking stinks to that shit. OK, but how does she accomplish this 'cause that's a lot of fucking mail.

So and it's also the 50s or what is so the way she does it is basically she's, it's international mail too. So she sends a package of like letters like once a week basically. And So what she does is she sends like a postcard where she draws cause again, she loves to draw. She draws something from her day and like sends a little note every of every day to pin and then sends like a big letter that like comprises the whole week and all her gay feelings once a week that comes to that

comes to pin. But also she's takes the time to send prick mail which is also really cute. I love that. And I wanna make sure that it's noted that Anil didn't just send a letter to Prick. Like she took into account that Prick could only read and write simple words. Like I know it was still like they're young. So she did illustrative

narratives instead. And I just think it's so cute that she accommodated that so that Prick could read it on her own and didn't need help from anyone 'cause I think that is a big thing for Anil. She's like Prick, cannot have to rely on anyone. That's a really good point and you're right, that's very sweet. And Prick, cause again, the only two people who like. She doesn't write that regularly

to her parents either. It's just these two 'cause that's who she's closest to. And and Prick's inner monologue sums up really nicely where she says Prick more than anyone else understands that Princess Anil's letters represent ladies Pin's lifeline to happiness 'cause that's how Prick feels too. Cause Prick also misses Anil, her like partner in crime, you know, So, but she's like, I have no authority to get you to stay.

Pin might be more successful. Like I just, you know, so basically like Pin and Prick kind of bond over missing a nil a little bit, but they're never on the same page as like obviously a Nil and Prick. But yeah, there's definitely gonna be letter writing And in the I think in the show, I can't remember this in the book, but in the show, Anil again, it's not just I'm doing this to make you happy. I'm also keeping up the long game. This is part of the courting. So in the in the show, Anil

signs it with like lipstick. I don't think that was in the book I. Don't think that was in the book either. It might have been later. No it's not. And pin has for lipstick later and like it does role play with it basically, but like that's in volume to but in volume one, there's none of this. So like Becky upped the game of the nil basically in the show, OK. And then how the letter writing keeps going. So Anila sends Anila's always out doing everybody. So she sends OK, seven.

This is going to pin 7 postcards postcard of the day plus a giant letter and pin sends back one letter. Like first of all, like what? If I was a nil, I'd be like. I hope that's one long letter. I just I get Anil's out here for scraps, Anil's out here for scraps. It's just her patience is insane is what I'm saying, But also like a poor pin. Like what does pin have going on? Like her days are so boring and like they feel lifeless without a nil.

So I like, I don't know that she would have a lot to say or feel or like she doesn't seem to. She seems like I might have this later, but basically when she's not like present in her own life, she's constantly thinking about a nil. So like, I don't know that she would observe enough of her day to like write it down for a nil other than be like, I was having ice here with my friends and all I could think about was you, which and that's what Anil actually wants.

She's like, just tell me that I don't care your. Nose Anil is like a queer person watching American media will take any scrapped of queer stuff happening like you have a. Little bit where like yes, we will die on this for you yeah but like Pin gets the Thailand version where she's like here's explicitly me telling me you I love you for seven years yeah, that's basically how that went OK all right but yeah, letters.

There's documented flirting, basically Anil says over and over again to Pin, you're the person I miss the most 'cause she misses Thailand. That's it's evident she's not from home. And then Pin explicitly says back like there's not a minute that goes by. I don't think about you. So like they're, they're explicitly flirting in the letters versus like what was happening previously before Anil left. OK, anything else about the letter writing?

It's really it's cute. I'm impressed with Anil that she wrote every single day for seven years. Never missed it. Never like sometimes the packages got there late 'cause of the mail, but like every, she never broke this promise. It is very impressive. Yeah. Yeah. Like, let's again. I understand, Mama. I love Anil because like, look at this anyway. So my gosh, no, yeah, I'm sorry. Just Anil to have someone that dedicated in your life God. Damn, I know, I know.

Dream woman and no. OK, Speaking of dream Woman, dream of her like dream house. Yeah, she ends up building it right outside the pins. She does make good on that promise. And by outside the window you mean directly being able to see into her room. Because there's no such thing as privacy for lovers where one doesn't even know that they are lovers yet. Yeah, absolutely. And just like I love when pins like what are they building there?

When she finds out from prick, they're like, oh, basically the king talked to Mill and he's like, what do you want for your birthday? She's like build that palace and pins window. He went and did it. She's like and she's wait, no, it's better than that. I'm sorry. He asks her what she wants and then the story is she presented him with because she goes to school for architecture is what ends up happening. She presents him with the designs.

She's like build this. Like she designed the house, had the plans, blueprints, gave it to him and was like go build this here. And he's like, OK, And like did it for her. Wasn't she still a young teenager though at this point? This was OK. I think we, I think we jumped like five years. So she's like close to 2019 or 20, but she's like heading into

architecture at that point. 'Cause it's it, yeah, that makes more sense than like a 14 year old being like build me a. Palace and basically she was gonna come home for like some break or something and he knew that so he's like, let me build this before she gets here. And that was part of what they were doing. Pin doesn't know that yet, but Pin is like huh? And it puts it together. Oh, wait, what? No, I'm sorry.

I'm sorry, Anil, long game. Anil sends a letter to pin around the time this construction starts happening and she alludes to the fact that basically she's like, I'm, I have a gift that I want to give you. Hopefully it's ready soon. Basically like alluding that this I'm building this house for you is what she's basically saying in the letter without saying it. Because 14 year old Anil was like, I want a cozy house.

I can live with pin at 14, started this plan and then enacted it like five years later. Just I'm sorry, it's just a it's just amazing. Her her longitudinal thinking is just like, wow. OK, so that's five. Basically, the construction of that palace happens five years after she's abroad. On the 6th year. Sorry, dramatic pause for me to hydrate. You gotta hydrate for this section. I'm sorry. On the 6th year and no returns to Thailand for her oldest

brother's engagement ceremony. Grand Prince is getting engaged, gonna get married. That's a huge deal. So she comes home. But then we gotta get into the weird, some of the weird drama, which we'll talk about a lot more in the second novel, but weird drama. The Grand Prince is harboring a crush on Chow Yung FA, I think is how you say her name. I've seen it spelled differently and different in the book and in the show.

Anyway, this is his direct cousin that's 12 years younger than him, who herself is harboring a crush on a Nil, and this person is definitely in the show 'cause they cast somebody. So Chow's gonna be played by Songjet, who, if you're watching My Marvelous Dream, is you. She plays Mon basically so. But like why are there so many Mons Her name is like. Sam on but like the nickname is Mon. Oh OK, so it's not the same character. Mon No, no, no, no, not at. All Oh, OK, All right that

that's fine then. Yeah, but if you also like that actor is really fucking funny. So like, I'm excited for her to play this character. Like it's gonna be great. But like, it's the first cousin. Yes. Who's also in love with her first cousin. And then that's not only you're putting the woman implication in there, 'cause like, obviously it's not an issue for us, 'cause you know us, but for them it would be. But then it's still a first cousin.

And then the brother like I. I. Technically pin and Anil or cousins. But they're very, very distant. Yeah. Like there's they're basically not even related. These two are very, the triangle is very related and it's very weird. And it's, well, if it's one sided and it's very strange and it keeps coming up in the book, which is why we had. Oh yes, still many times and to the point where I bring it up, I think in the second one. It's worse than the second book. Yeah, 'cause.

They're older and they're adults. 'Cause it it continues to the end of the book. Oh yes, it just keeps going anyway, but we'll get there when we get there. But we had to mention it now because it's definitely gonna be in the show because they cast these people. They already got a text when this happened by the way, when I read it. Oh, yeah, the ancestor's drama just keeps going. That's OK. We're not here to judge. We're just should have pointed out that these are things that

are gonna happen. OK, so let's get back to Anil returning. So at this point when Anil returns, she's 20s years old, pins 21. And at this point they've transitioned from like young teenagers figuring their shit out to full blown women. And I like in the book that they have like, it's weird for them to like get back into a groove together 'cause they're, they're, they're at different stages of their life now.

So they have to like, kind of like get to know each other again, which is really cute and like a very real thing. So I, I like that they do that. So it's like, instead of like pin and a note, just like pouncing on each other. It's kind of like they're like, she looks different, she acts different, she's old. Like they have to get to know each other again, which is very. Cute even with letters, like it's basically like you're reading a book.

You don't really know someone. You have to hang out with them and you know, FaceTime and this technology didn't exist back then. They they would very much benefit from this technology anyway. Yeah, I mean, they weren't even doing like international phone calls or anything like that. It's all letter writing. Yeah, but Padmika has also changed, because when Anil asks to steal pin for a bit, Padmika lets her go right away, and then says Princess Anil doesn't have to ask to borrow them.

Even if you do not ask, I will give them to you and I just that's so different from you're punished. From going out and like. Yeah, I know she's not a kid anymore, but at the same time she just like, take them, I will give them to you. It's probably like I've been trapped in this house with brick and pen for seven years or whatever. I can't handle them anymore. I feel like I need a break. I need me time.

That's definitely not what's going on in her brain, but I think it'd be really funny if it was. OK. So Anil's back. She's 20, she's been seven. She kept her pinky promise. She built, she built their house. So she obviously takes the lead in making her feelings very clear about how she feels about Pin. And 'cause they, they have, they have a chat about like, oh, I missed you, I missed you. But Anil takes things a step

further. She doesn't just confess that she's like, I didn't just miss you. I've been thinking about you in a desiring you kind of way and very slowly pin processes what the fuck that means. And then her feelings about that and she's like, oh shit, did I also desire you? Wait, what? Like it's like level unlocked. The thinking is happening right? Now Gang has something LGBT happens to pin in that moment

where she's like desire. But a sign of love that we have learned in Thai media is food and feeding people. So Pin keeps making food for Anil and Anil doesn't eat it. And the issue is that Pin is making Anil eat like an adult, but Anil wants her to show affection like a true Thai lesbian by feeding her. So she creates. The perfect. Scenario. That's cute and she's like, if you want me to eat it, then feed me. My hands are not free. I have to flip. The textbook, she's still in

school. She's like, I got a study pin, obviously. So yeah, again, maybe have the confidence of vanilla. Just hydrate for that scene. I I want that scene too where they're feeding each other is very cute. Basically, they cannot leave out anything that happened in the book. No, the book is so good. OK, and then I recently got confirmation that the scene I needed most from this book, the thing that made me love this book, was the jealous tennis

match scene. And it's going to be in the show 'cause there's BTS of the cast and tennis outfits, including Prick. I'm gonna be honest, I didn't look at the people at first and I thought that you, because in my work I work with stock images so much. I thought you just had a tennis image in here and it didn't register that these are the people. Do you not see bricks? OK, no. I do see that's what made me realize it wasn't. Free or Becky, It was Frank. OK, this is the best.

And this is when I fell well with a no. OK, this is the best. OK so anyway, OK, so it's revealed that Anil basically while she was cause Anil and Prick go and have a conversation before this jealous match starts and they talk. And basically it's revealed in the conversation that way back when Anil assigned Prick essentially to play third wheel to any potential suitors that Lady Pin had while she was in Europe.

So and no, again, at 14, it was like, prick, you need to take care of Penn and might take care of her. I mean, twat block any men who come anywhere near like you report back to me. So prick has been reporting back who's been courting Penn the whole time because Penn is a is 21, a lady in the society. Padmika's trying to marry her off because that's her job, right?

So prick has been like spying on this situation and reporting back to Penn. So I mean, and Nell, and then Nell knows who all of her quote enemies are, the men that are, she views them as enemies, which is just love. It's so funny. But there's a couple. But the number one enemy is this dude named Kun Kua. And he unfortunately has been cast in the show. So we have to deal with this man. Unfortunately, he unfortunately, unfortunately, he is the he's a big brat. Oh my God.

But he's the worst. And I'm upset that we have to deal with this man. But yeah, unfortunately he's a big plot point. That's why he's enemy #1 according to a no, he's basically pins forced love interest courtesy of Antipad because he's somebody in polite society that looks amazing on paper, but he's an ass hat as a human. I love you Theora, I love you so much. So. But Anil doesn't know anything about this man's personality. He's just like, he's getting too close to my wife.

So we need to stop this. So Anil concocts the scenario where she's like, well, I have the Pine Palace, it's brand new, let's do a welcome me to my new palace party, essentially. And she invites her brothers, the Princess, their significant others, some of their, one of her Europe friends, and then Kunkua to come along to play tennis 'cause she had tennis courts, I guess she likes tennis. I mean, she definitely plays tennis.

We'll just spoil her. So she has them installed and she's like, come over and play tennis. That'll be like, welcome me to my palace party. And she's the favorite. So everybody's like, yes and no, whatever you want. And she uses this opportunity to absolutely destroy Kunkua at tennis and thus humiliate this man in front of Pin and the Princess.

And it's just utterly brilliant. And it's basically this giant display of dominance from Anil with the clear message of stay away from Pin, which Kunkua doesn't get at all. He just does not. He's not smart. He's a dude, of course he doesn't get it. He. Does not get it. He does not get it. It's just it's, it's amazing though, 'cause he's like, oh, this is gonna be a friend basically like she uses prick too to get she's like, I'm gonna let prick pick the teams and prick's like, oh fuck.

And Neil didn't prep me for this. I don't know what to do. And then she's like, wait, and Neil made me smart. I gotta use my brains. And she like literally concocts the teams. So she puts like the the brothers, the Princess with their wives or whatever together. And then she's like Anil and her friend Pranette, I think is his name. And then she's like Kua and Pin and Anil gives her a smile and perk's like, oh, thank God, I read that right. She's, like I said, did it right. But like.

The pressure that was on pricking that moment, Oh my God, that's so much. She's like, it didn't tell me what to do. And then like basically like Anil and her partner, it's double S Anil and her partner play Kua and Pin and they're like, oh, this is gonna be a friendly match. And the way she's just like serving aces at his feet and just like humiliating him is he's like, oh fuck, I guess I actually have to play tennis. She destroys him. It's amazing.

So that was step one of the stay away from my wife move by. I know Step 2 is when they're off the courts and like the Princess are playing Pin is sitting next to Kunkua 'cause he's there to like court Pin because Pin is money basically. And he's trying to get the money which is marrying her and the status that comes with entering the royal family basically. And it knows he's that he's sitting next to her Pin and she's like, could I get the fuck out of that Jira?

I want to sit there, actually get out. That's mine now. And he can't say no to her because she's the Princess and this is her house. So he's like, I guess. And so then Noah gets to sit next to Pin. It's just all of the power grabs that she does where she's like, uh huh, I'm better than you. Remember that. It's just, it's just, it's the

best. And I can't wait for Becky to do this because it's going to be. She only takes advantage of her power when it comes to getting closer to pin, Yes, and not towards pin no. Exactly. It's good, you know. What I want to compare it to, it's something we will be talking about next month. By the time you get this, this is like blank.

This is what Nung does. Like Nung and Anil both have this royal power and they don't use it against their significant other, Sam. They use it to benefit their significant other and that's the only time they dip into the power. Like Anil does that too. She's not she doesn't really flaunt around her like, well, she actually never does that. She doesn't flaunt around on it, says she only pulls rank for pin and that's it. Like because pin is the one thing she wants.

And like the other component is that like this thing makes pin really uncomfortable and Anil sees that. So like, I think that even if they weren't romantically involved with each other while getting romantically involved as like friends, I think Eno would do this anyway because she'd be like, she's uncomfortable, get the hell away from her. And I have the power to get this man away from her because like Pin saying get away from me wouldn't stop this man because

the power dynamic is he's a man. He has more power than her just by gender. But Noel's like, I'm the fucking Princess. My brothers are over there also. So if you wanna say no to me, they'll come kill you and you wanna impress them 'cause you're a little social weasel. So, like, get out of this chair and get away from her. You're making her uncomfortable, but yeah. I feel like with Anil being so into pin and even though she's going after her, if pin ended up being like no I'm sorry I don't

like you like that. Anil definitely would have just like backed. Off sort of like. Trying to like, oh, I'm going to like force you to like me, which is just great. She's like, OK. She would be like OK I will be there for you as a friend then and I will still always have feelings for you but I will respect you and still fight everyone around for you. Correct. Yeah, exactly. She would concede that. I agree. And then it would be like a perk situation where she's like, I

will look out for you. Yeah, I agree. I know it's just the best. But wait, this keeps getting better because again, this whole thing is just designed for Anil to like stake a claim on pin in front of this dude and try and make it as obvious as possible that like, she's mine, leave her alone. Also just leave her alone.

So all right, they're all sitting and at some point, like something like the, the prince's significant others are kind of there too, and they're talking and somehow the conversation gets on to food because Thailand, like Italy, it's just like it's. Thailand. Yeah, yeah, it's very much like my culture favorite.

Let's just start talking about food 'cause like that's that's where it's at. So somehow it gets on not just food, but the conversation goes to Lady Penn's famous stripped mop rang I think is what it's called in syrup. And it's like this, I didn't know what it was, but it's a type of plum mango. And the book describes this thing she does like the, the way she not thing, but the way she prepares this particular dish is she's it's not just like you take the mangoes and put them in syrup.

It's like she carves them into intricate shapes. Like they mentioned her making them look like seashells and things like that. So like apparently this takes hours and a lot of skill to like strip them and then like concoct them into this fancy shape. So it's one of those like your lady skills that she learns. And so naturally Kinku is like, oh, well, Pin make me some. And Pin basically says fuck no. It's such a pain in the ass to make this thing.

I'm not gonna make it for you and says this very public thing, but in a nice way. She doesn't say fuck you, but basically that's what she's saying. So with Nil very sweetly next to her is like, well, you know, your your dessert is one of those things I really missed when I was in Europe. Would you make them for me? And then pin immediately without missing a beat. It's like, absolutely, I'll make them tomorrow. That's so funny. And I was like, uh huh, uh huh, cool. Fucking back off bitch.

So funny. Anyway, I can't wait for this scene 'cause there's just so much in here. Just and nil humiliating men, which is right there is the best. She humiliates multiple men. It's not just him. And then that line was so funny. I hope that's in there where she's like, fuck you. And she's like, whatever you want to know, I'll do it tomorrow. It's really annoying. I guess it's. A really quick exchange like that too to make it even funnier. Like nothing happens in between it's.

So quick and hilarious and like, it's funny too, 'cause in the book, like when they were younger, basically one of her motivations to get really good at doing that dessert was that Ano loved it. And Ano would come by specifically to come get it. So like there's conversations where Pad's like, why are you making so much of this? And. And, and Penn's like no reason, no reason whatsoever. And then she's like, is it because the Princess comes by, he eats this and then Penn's

like, no, everything's normal. And then like Ano will show up. She's like, look, I have this for you. So yeah, she would specifically do it for Ano, which is also really cute. And then she didn't realize why she was just like, I know she comes by and hangs out with me and I make this and let me just keep making this annoying dessert. It's very cute. I I just but the the quickness of that too. Much work like just cut it up. And it's gotta be fancy and.

I'm. Confident, I'm confident and they'll didn't give a shit about the dessert. She's not food motivated the way that prick is. She's just like, Pin makes this for me. I'm gonna come hang out with her. That's literally what it is. Like, they're on different wavelengths. Like Pin's always like, I gotta make this fancy thing 'cause she likes the fancy thing. And it was just like hanging out with Pin time. Like it's so funny. They're so funny and cute, but I

love that. So like, that's why, like, and Noel knew that exchange was gonna work because she's like, she used to do this for me before. Anyway, so funny. OK, but wait, Speaking of funny. And also like is the gal pal. Kissing. The gal pal kissing scene. This has to exist. I'm sorry, it has to because it's too funny. There's no way it doesn't. How could the Oh my God, this is another scene where I'm like, of course this is what you're

doing. OK, so let's set the stage for this basically Anil Anil's still in Thailand obviously. And Lady Pin is at the Pine Palace hanging out with, you know, Anil one night and then it starts like torrentially downpouring. It's like tropical rainstorm basically. And it doesn't let up. So Anil's like, I'm not letting you walk back to the Bua Palace cause again, they're not, the houses aren't super, super close. You have to walk quite a distance. And she's like in this rain.

Absolutely not. You're gonna stay here with me because I'm in a palace. There's rooms like just stay here, OK, So the thing about Anil's place is because it's smaller, there's basically no servants in this place except Prick. And that's by design, because who knows what Anil is trying to do with Pin Prick? So they're basically alone in private in the Pine Palace. That's part of the appeal of this particular palace, right? Because if it was like Padmika's palace, there's like servants

everywhere. Like, 'cause it's so big, you need people to clean it and run the kitchens and, and I was like, I don't want that. I just want a place where I can be myself with my future wife. So that's why she designed this house like this. So I don't even know if Prick is there that this, she might actually be in the Blue Palace. I'm not sure. But they're alone, basically. And because they're alone, Lady Pin expresses some of her

jealousy from the tennis match. Because Oh, yes, like, not only was Anil being overtly jealous and trying to get rid of the man, Pin was jealous of every woman. And who's looking a man who's looking at Anil. And then somebody looks at Anil and she starts getting jealous. And it's like, girl, your girlfriend is described as like the most beautiful woman in Thailand. People are gonna look at her also. She's the Princess. And then Pin gets jealous

immediately. And it's great, but it takes her a while to realize she's jealous, though. She's like, I don't know why I feel like this. And it's like, girl, what? Fiora loves jealousy. It's so. Good. Anyway, it's it's a great emotion in television shows because it's but yeah, that's Penn's, Penn's Hallmark thing is everybody makes her jealous. And one person in particular who made her jealous was Pranat. That's his name. He's basically a friend of one of Anil's brothers.

And he was and they met, I forgot which brother and but they met when they were studying in Europe basically. And when Anil was in Europe, the brother was like watch over my sister basically like kind of as like a guardian in a way. And so like they know each other and are used to seeing each other all the time in Europe. And he came back for the engagement also. So he was at the at the the party and that was like Anil's tennis double and so or double

partner. And he's also kind of like this misguided love interest a little bit for Anil and then later pin. It gets weird, but he's played he's played by Poom, who is Pat from my marvelous Dreamazoo. And I think he's a very good choice as an actor because he's very like golden retrievery. And that's kind of like what this character is like. He means while he's not like a snake the way Ku is, he's just like a puppy dog along for the ride basically.

And so Pin is like, and someone knows like, why are you? It doesn't say this, but it's basically like, why are you jealous of him? Like he's just like some dude I know from school. It's not a big deal. It's like you don't have to worry about any dude. No, you don't worry about. You have to worry about anybody like I know has and it doesn't look at anybody. Basically, she's very since she was like a child was singularly focused on Pin. But Pin can't see that.

So Pin comments the reason why she's jealous. She's like, I saw him kiss you and Mills. Like what? No, he didn't. I would have remembered that. What do you mean? But Pin's like I saw him kissing your the back of your hand, which OK, so kissing in different forms in Thailand means different things than in Western slash French influenced areas. So like a kiss on the back of the hand is much more like courting.

It means more like courting. It's more like I, I'm putting my focus on you and hopefully we'll get married. Doesn't necessarily mean romance is my understanding, but it's like, I, I'm making a claim on you. It's kind of the, the language, I guess that's where you kind of put it. Whereas like, and I was like, no, that's like a Western thing. It just means, it just means

respect. It doesn't necessarily mean any kind of like I'm intending to do anything with you, which is like a greeting basically like it's a Western thing, don't worry about it. But clean is the pin is super, super jealous. And she's like, well, you know what a kiss is a kiss. I know how dare you kiss other people basically is what she's saying. And then I was like, OK, are you really worried about this? She's like, let me just explain through a demonstration what

every kiss that I know means. And so it starts with the hand kissing and then she goes all the way to French kissing, essentially Pin. I I think we need to back up and talk about the the full sequence because it goes from butterfly kiss, a playful kiss often used with children, to lip kiss. It can be used to express love or greet a friend. And I'm just like reading this, greet a friend. Like how many people have you been greeting with lip kisses and. Well, like, you know, like in

Italy they do that too. Like, like kiss on the cheek, lip kiss. Sometimes that just means hello like like a a chased kiss like that can mean lat in some Western countries like Europe countries. All right, but then the last kiss is the French kiss. But like this tutorial, we escalated. Fast, so fast, so fast. And the explanation of the so like again. And Pena is losing her shit during this particular kiss, the kiss with tongues that happens.

And at the end of it, like Pin can't even like put a sentence together. She's just like, what the fuck just happened? What are all these feelings? And then Anil clarifies, this kind of kiss is only used for expressing desire for a lover. And then like, Pin is having cardiac arrest and she's like hearing this. And she's like, Oh my God, what? And like, but, and I was like, I just did it to you. Can you please put two and two together? Can you please understand what

I'm doing? Let me explain this to you. But I demonstrated to show you. I want to kiss you in all the ways, basically. OK, But remember the lead up to this. Pin was supposed to stay the night because it's raining. So then this happens and Pin's like I'm too tingly to stay here with you. I'm gonna run back in the rain to my house. So she tries to and Anil's like, no, no, no, really, let me walk. Let me walk. If you're gonna do this, let me walk you back 'cause it's like, what is this rain?

And then she's like, no, no, no, it's fine, it's fine. And Pin tries to like run back to the palace basically. And Anil stands outside and like watches her run away because rejection is real. And but she stays out in the rain also. It's just, she's getting all wet. Well, like Pin runs back home basically. So like that's important after this Pin has to figure out her fucking feelings cause like she's on, she doesn't understand any of this.

What just happened? Like, 'cause like, basically she's like, I wanna kiss her back kind of stuff. And she's like, what does that even mean? And so she avoids the nail for like a couple of days. Cause like the gay panic is escalating. Yeah, like that. What else are you gonna do when you're just like, what is happening? And like. Something's going on with her and like, I, I, I just. And you don't wanna face it. I mean, like, especially when you're raised in a place where

men. That and also like she's the Princess, So there's this whole thing of like offending the Princess and like there's a whole there's layers to this where she's like, I need to figure my shit out before like commit a treason or some shit. And I don't mean to. So she avoids a know if her feet is until she finds out that in those few days Anil's sick because she was standing out in the rain and like caught a cold basically. Who knows how Anil's dramatic too.

Like, who knows how long she was standing out in the cold rain, Like, who knows it being all sad and shit. So despite all of this, Penn's like, well, I can't leave Anil alone, helpless. There's no servants in that house who was looking after her, like, fuck. So she like, puts her bullshit aside basically and goes to visit the Pine house unannounced. She just shows up after finding this out and she runs into Prick because Prick is the only servant in this house.

And Prick has like a tub of water basically. And it was like, I was gonna like, Anil's sick. And so I was gonna like wipe, give her a spun bath basically and wipe her down because she's feverish and shit. And then she mentions Anil doesn't allow, she's like, I was just gonna deliver it to her because Anil doesn't let anybody wipe down her body, even her mother. She's very protect, like possessive of herself or shy or some shit. And so Penn's like, give me that. I'm gonna go in.

No, I'm going in there. And this is in the show. She then proceeds to give Anil a sponge bath. Cause Anil's like you're gonna do it, OK even. The amount of candles in this screenshot. Some things never change, Caitlin. Nope, Nope. But yeah, again, it's significant that she's like, nobody's allowed to touch a nil except pin, so that's a win for pin. But yeah, that definitely happens. Win for Pin, win for pin. So many things to play with that name, but that's. The title of the episode.

Win for pin? Actually that's a good one. Not put a pin in it. No, put a pin in it is this one and then a win for pin is 2 the. Other title for volume to is get pinned anyway, I think I have that in the notes anyway. Spoiler OK, but Speaking of pins, OK 'cause the title of the book, what is happening here? The hair pins of it all. So we have to get to that. OK, so after the sponge bath incident and no, again, waste no time. She's just like, I'm here for a short period of time.

Just let's not carpe diem the shit. She confesses her love to pin, but she's like being explicit. She's like, I love you basically. And I I wanna marry you kind of someday kind of way. But she's like, I'm concerned that you don't love me the same way because you just literally rejected me and left me standing out. Being sad in the rain, which you know is gonna Idol Factory is gonna be like Becky stand there for like 30 minutes and look really sad.

You know that's gonna be in the show because it's so sad. Oh man, oh, for her sake, I really hope they. Warmed her, I hope. Yeah, I hope she. Oh, she had to try. I could just. See her actually getting sick from filming this and I just hope she was protected. I hope she's like You say this every time we talk about the two of them. I hope she's OK. OK, but OK. So Anila basically lays it on the line. She's like, I'm worried you don't feel the same way.

Figure your shit out before you like, fully reject me. And so basically Ping goes home to think about this and basically has a these themes moment where she's reading her own journals and she's like, wow, I'm so gay and in love with her. And it's like, yeah, girl, come on now. And if you don't know what we're talking about, go check out our episode about these themes. It's a really, really funny web series that is full of queer joy. But there is 100 what?

There's there's some pain in there too, but it's very funny. It's. Mostly funny, but there is this scene where like the characters figuring their shit outs, going through their own journals, and it's like, wow, I was so gay the whole time. And like, Pin is putting it together. She's like basically on entries where she's like, I'm jealous as fuck of everybody who touches pit Adele. And it's like, wow, OK, yeah.

And she's like, why can't you only look at me and all this stuff where it's like, OK, then I guess I desire her too. Anyway, so then Pin goes back to the she. Now she figures out she goes back to the Pine Palace after. So Anil gets better, basically goes on a trip because Chao Yueng's dad dies. And so like and it's part of the family. So they're like go up north where her palace is, basically do the funeral stuff, pay respects. And then Anil comes back.

And then so Pin that night goes to Sea Anil and Pin again can't let it go. She's like, you were with that girl that's obviously in love with you and no, what the fuck? So she's super jealous of like her cousin. And then Anil asks her out loud, she's like, are you jealous? Is that what this is? And Pin says, yes, I am and I have been for a very long time and finally confesses. And then Anil's delighted and she's like, great, so you do feel the same way. And she's like, I have a gift

for you that I got on my trip. And then she produces these two hairpins. And I know one of them is in the show. I don't know about both. We'll find out. But basically Chao Yuan's mom, Auntie de Rarai, I think is how you say it, gifted Anil these really precious pins. Basically one is gold and like shaped like a crown, like royalty, and the other one is this silver pin. And Anil has two, and she gives the gold one, the more valuable 1 to pin.

So it's a way of Anil showing that like, I value you more than me, basically, which is obvious in all of her actions. And Anil keeps the silver one. And she's like, I want us to have these matching pins that we can basically, like wear together. And it's like, you know, something that should be together are going to belong to both of us. So sometimes they're separated, but really they should be together. It's a way of Anil being like, we need to be together.

It's basically this is what it what it is. And it's a super valuable thing, right? She's like, this is for you. And then she basically like very sweetly, like puts it in Pin's hair and it's very cute. And she says, again, this whole thing's a metaphor. From now on, the hairpin only belongs to you. And Pin picks up on the subtext that Anil is saying I belong to you is what she's basically saying. And then she, she flat out just says back to like, you know, I

belong to you too, don't worry. Like that's if that's what you were worried about. And they're like, great, let's fuck. And then and then they had sex for the first time. And that's, that's what happens 'cause there's no wasting time. And then I was like, great, you gotta be mine in all the ways. And that's basically what they do. There's a lot of that in the book. So if you're into that, go read the book. I'm sure, I'm sure that's gonna

be all over the show. But my my favorite part of this, though, is the next morning. So like, again, this was unexpected. Like Ginger shows up and then ends up staying the night, doesn't tell anybody. Then the next morning she has to do like the walk of shame back to like the boop house and prick catches and catches early she goes. And she's like, why are? You in his room. And Prin's like, reasons. Shut up, Prick. And then Prick's like, why is

your shirt button wrong? And then pin's like, oh, and like, all the color, like, drains from her face and she looks down and her clothes around fine. And Prick's just like, yeah, recently called. Yeah. She's like, I know why you were in there and then. And Prin's like, damn, did I just get outsmarted by Prick again? Like this is hilarious. I want this part the show too. Or prick catches her. It's so. Funny, Yeah, I mean, that has to it's too so funny.

I want prick to like keep interrupting them and then a Neil get so pissed off at one point just like a. Prick. I will get you food later. I want Anil to do the stuff where she's like, hey Prick, could you go to the front palace and like stand by the Bush for an hour like, well, most of the time like Prick is really like outside guarding the Pine Palace for a No she's like if you see anybody, please Alert me 'cause the. Patience that girl must have. Yeah.

Or does she get sent along with snacks? Because that would make sense. She. Probably gets sent along with food but like, and I was like, Oh yeah, Prick's guarding that. Don't worry, we are in privacy right now. Don't let that plague your mind. Pin Prick is guarding the place, so she's off on guard duty anyway. All right, so then after that we get to like basically the end of the book. So it's, it's getting closer to Pin's birthday and she's getting

super excited about this. And she's like, hey, Anil, could you like basically celebrate my birthday with me and Anil's like, I can't, I have to go back to Europe basically a couple of days before your birthday, which is heartbreaking for Pin because like her whole world is a nil basically. And so they spend as much time together as they can, but it's basically there's like two years ish left in like anole being gone. And it was like, it's only two

years, it's gonna be fine. Like, you know, we waited longer the first time and prick's like, yeah, but like, that can feel like a really long time for the person. That's like waiting. Meaning like it feels longer for Pin. And at this point, like now their relationship is completely shifted into something like, like overtly romantic and overtly sexual and stuff. And like, Pin is like, worried that this separation is gonna be even worse because like, before it was just like, I really miss

her and I don't know why. And it's like now I know why. Like oh fuck. So I mean, it's one thing to be separated from your best friend and another to be separated from the girl that you just slept with and realize that you have huge feelings for and one to U-Haul immediately and you're not allowed to U-Haul. Yeah, basically. And the word ends is basically like and Noah being like, I'll come back soon, pin wait for me. And that's where it ends.

It just ends with that line, which is so rude. Mama, how? When I saw it ended there, I'm like, what the hell is this ending? I'm like, thank God I know that there's a second book, but like. Oh my God. That ending was just like what? Kind of ending is this. I know, I didn't know there was a second novel. And I was like again, like with Blank when I was watching Blank and I was like, this is the end. What the hell? And I was like, there's a second season, OK. And it's just like that.

I was like, you bitch, What is it like? Oh, open to interpretation. Will they make it? Will they not make it? But thankfully it's the second volume 'cause like. Tyler doesn't do that. Tyler makes everything explosive. Literally. Tyler is the best. They're like, we're gonna give you the actual fucking ending and not leave you on a weird mystery. Shit, man. OK. So that's basically. America, take notes. Fuck you, America. Yeah, get your shit together.

That's basically the that's basically the gist of the first novel, the gist being two hours of us talking about it, but that's basically it. And that's where it ends. So do you have any other thoughts about volume one before you like wrap up our discussion? No. OK, so in honor of Becky and her love of Taylor Swift and her characters, we're going to that's. Exactly the only reason why we do this. That's the only reason we're doing this.

So Becky, come on podcast just saying so we can talk about this more. We're going to kind of do a new thing where we're it mean for us to what? So which Taylor Swift song did you relate to this novel or characters or whatever? Like what? What songs encapsulate the book slash characters in this book? I think in general, given this is a story about rich people champagne problems, because this whole story is rich people problems is you know. I mean, it's the truth.

So the first thing I thought of was I can see you, and that is to the Pine Palace being directly outside Pin's window. And it's just like her listening to it, singing it while staring at a pin through the windows. I can. See you Oh my God. Also mastermind is just a nil period. She planned all this shit like decades in advance. Like it's just her. She's like, what if I told you I already put set all this up so

that we would be together? Like, that's the Nil's been doing tirelessly for years, and it's impressive, truly. Yeah. All right. That's all you got. OK, so now it's time to conclude this and wrap it up with the Big Gay Energy Award. OK, So what aspect of the show character do you think embodies the concept of Big Gay Energy for the loyal pen? The letter writing every single day. Oh. My God the the commit and Neil in general has the most big energy in the book, but for me

it's the tennis scene. OK my my original answer was the kissing scene like. Oh my God, the different. Types of kissing because like of the escalation. And then the end where she's just like you. That thing I just did means somebody wants you as more than a friend. Yeah. Do you get it, Pin? Oh, but also Pin's gay Panic after that also has a lot of big in here. She's like, I gotta go read my journals now and figure some

shit out. Her reading the journals and being like, I'm so gay had a lot of big energy, I'm not gonna lie, basically. We were. Working we. Always do like. OK, listen, it's hard. There's a lot of gay shit going on here. What did you listener slash watcher at home give big gay energy award to for the loyal pen volume one. Let us.

Know All right, so we have come to the end of the episode and we have been teasing it. We have a word that we want you to use in a review or comment without looking up the spelling because that makes it more fun. I try to find words that are harder to spell. Today's secret word is in Thai, so the English pronunciation of Thai like, not the actual like. Obviously. I yeah, I don't. Obviously, if you can spell it in the Thai language, go forward. I don't even know how to get

that keyboard. But so today's word is it. OK, I'm gonna give you a hint. It's technically 3 words, my psy prick. And I had to. I'm not telling you what it means, what my psy means, because I already told you what prick is if you remember, so it'll be funnier. Prick is the best. All right, well, thank you for listening.
