A conversation with Stefanie Plappert, curator of a new exhibition exploring disaster movies that recently opened at the German Film Museum in Frankfurt. The exhibition is titled “Catastrophe. What Comes After the End? ” It opened on July 14 and will run through January 9, 2022. Aside from focusing on the history of this cinematic subgenre, form earlier examples to present-day blockbusters, disaster movies are explored in part through object and scientific expertise in partnership with the Senckenbert Naturmuseum, which will also present a companion program in their building during the run of the show.
