Episode description

In this episode, we talk about how successful Indian TV shows such as Tarak Mehta and the Ekta Kapoor slowly but surely prepared an audience for the propaganda of today's politics. We talk of how these shows evade issues such as caste and present a homogenised view of society. We then discuss how the decade of the 2000s is actually the period when TV news set the template for Godi media and WhatsApp forwards of today.

Note: This episode was recorded in February 2021, and hence you won`t hear us talking about comedians in the context of the current news in this episode.
