On February 3, a train operated by Norfolk Southern Railway derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, located on the border of Pennsylvania and roughly an hour from Pittsburgh.  11 cars containing hazardous loads derailed.  Various toxic and carcinogenic chemicals were spilled as a result of the derailment, leading to concern for air, surface water, soil, and groundwater pollution.  In addition, because the solution crafted by officials was to burn the chemicals, now there is additional concern over the pollution covering a much wider area.  It also introduced a new concern regarding novel compounds that may have been produced as a result of the burn.  Joel and Sina discuss the fall out, including: which chemicals were spilled, which chemicals were created due to burning, how far the chemicals may spread, the potential health impacts, and who is to ultimately blame.
