Episode description

A master drummer with a super work ethic and a strive to be the best. For over 50 years his unique sound has deservedly positioned him as first call kit man to absolutely everyone. If you don’t know him you’ll want him and his solid style. Guyanese born, Trinidad raised and UK grown he began his drumming career aged 9. At 16 he was recording and touring the UK and USA with Johnny Nash and the great Bob Marley. By 18 he had recorded Jeff Beck’s biggest selling album Blow by Blow to critical acclaim appearing on the film soundtrack Tommy alongside Pete Townsend, Phil Chen and Roger Daltrey. He occupied the drum seat with British soul jazz band Incognito for 15 years and has been an integral part of Steve Winwood’s Return-to-Form recordings and subsequent tours. With an excellence in styles ranging from rock to reggae, jazz to pop to Latin and of course soca and calypso, he maintains a unique style and sound. Listen in to this mastermind.
