Episode description

Kris & David are joined this week by The Artist Formerly Known as Lenny Leonard (@LTFromAstoria) to discuss the week that was August 30th - September 4th, 1985.

  • We start the show by talking about the tragic death of Jay Youngblood at the age of 30, complete with Gordon Solie actually announcing it on Florida TV, which was extremely rare at the time. We then pivot to the WWF, where we talk about the hot streak they are on, as everything is hitting on all cylinders—inside and outside the ring—at the time. We also talk about Miss Elizabeth making her proper debut on Piper's Pit and how her character would evolve over time.
  • Then we go international, talking about a big AJPW show at Sumo Hall, Antonio Inoki regretting his deal with World Class, one of the last big UWF 1.0 shows, the Rougeaus and Garvins finishing up their feud in Montreal, and much more.
  • Next, we go back to the U.S. where we talk about Crockett Promotions’ treatment of Terry Taylor, big Labor Day shows in Florida & World Class, Norvell Austin returning to Continental, Mid-South going back to hardcore brawling heels on top, Mike Von Erich battling Toxic Shock Syndrome, and a whole lot more.

Not one of our longest shows, but still a damn ton of fun, so don't miss it!!!
