AC Milan climbed to the top of the Serie A table with a 1-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday with the only goal of the match scored by in-form winger Rafael Leao. Stefano Pioli's side leapfrogged Inter Milan and Napoli who drew 1-1 between them. Juventus rescued a point with their Brazilian defender Danilo scoring a last-minute equalizer against Atalanta. The Old Lady maintained their fourth spot in the standings extending their Serie A unbeaten run to 11 games. Lazio closed the gap on the Champions League to four points after another impressive 3-0 win over Bologna. 
Many Italian teams were involved in the European midweek action with Inter playing Liverpool in the Champions League while Napoli, Atalanta and Lazio faced Barcelona, Olympiacos and FC Porto in the Europa League Playoffs. 

Juventus will host their city rivals Torino on Saturday while Sassuolo will travel to play Inter in what should be an entertaining match. Napoli and AC Milan should have enough for Cagliari and Salernitana respectively, who are both fighting to avoid relegation. The fight for the Scudetto is getting more and more intense with the first three teams in the standings being separated by just two points.
