What a sweet melody for kids to learn.
I still remember being ten or eleven years old and listening to this one in a student recital in the conservatory. Great times!
A child remembering a folk song as he or she walks.
A small choir in a church sings as the listeners meditate. Kids cannot wait to go back outside to play.
A happy kid's thoughts
The title couldn't be more fitting to the music... or vice versa.
Running and excitement everywhere!
Keith Hide: The Life & Death Of... by Carlos Márquez
Composed in 1848. Still fun after 172 years.
Robert Schumann: Album Für Die Jugend Op. 68 - 9. Folk Song by Carlos Márquez
Charming, but so short! Is happiness so brief? wait... if I play it slower... would it be as happy?
My sister used to play this one growing up. I can still remember her practicing the "fast" middle section. I even made some funny lyrics to go with it... and she was not happy with that.
Fun to listen, Fun to play.
Alternating legato and non legato in the melody of this piece.
Not a single chord... but beautiful harmonies.
Many 'Schumanesque' moments in this one.
A melancholic tune.
Must have been the morning of a day with lots of fun things to look forward to
You can almost see the farmer's smile.
A bit serious. Even kids have this mood.
Seems like an announcement around the block for kids to join in playing a game

After I recorded this I checked YouTube and found a bunch of kids playing this one. I guess is a popular piece for young pianists. Published in 1867

He was first taught music (piano) by his father and uncle. From the age of 11 he studied violin in Lithuania and abroad. Later he became director of the orchestra in Kaunas. Between 1874 and 1884 he worked at the Vilnius Teacher Training Institute and he was appointed as t...
