Episode description

We don’t do a lot of single-issue podcasts, but this one was pretty close to that. Aldo NICE, Rog Smuve, and C.A.P. got together to run down a few of the most interesting topics of the week and, as always, lively conversations ensued. Rumble Williams got us started with his thoughts on “black greeting” norms (01:00) which made us think about the difference between head nod hello types (03:00) and Tyler Perry holding it down for the community (07:00). After pubbing BFWW Phase II (11:00), we got into the main talk for the week, Colin Kaepernick’s advertisements with Nike (13:00). After giving our initial thoughts, we gave our rapid reactions of the commercial ad (16:00), why it was a good idea to sign Kaep for Nike and not the NFL (19:00), if Colin should be able to profit from the protest (28:00), and which Nikes are on the “Cannot Burn List” (36:00). The last 15 minutes of the podcast was devoted to talking about Aretha Franklin’s funeral and public funerals in general (44:00), the Bobby Brown special on BET (50:00), and the start of the NFL season (59:00). Aldo wrapped up the pod with Nothin’ NICE to Say about rogue neighborhood mailmen (1:01:00).
