Episode 70

The cult of The Great 11: part 2

Is now available

The Divine Order of the Royal Arms of the Great Eleven (yes, that was the actual name) AKA: The cult of aThe Great 11 was a 1920s cult in California run by May Otis Blackburn, who convinced people she was chosen by God to reveal the secrets of the universe—like a cosmic TED Talk, but with more purple capes.

She promised immortality, buried treasure, and spiritual enlightenment and death resurrections which, let’s be honest, sounds like the plot of a really bad Indiana Jones sequel.

Things got sketchy fast, with followers mysteriously dying, burned alive, blood orgies and a lot of money "donated" for those divine secrets that never quite showed up.

Join us as we unravel how a cult promising eternal life and buried gold turned into a true crime circus.

Spoiler: no one found the treasure, but the drama? Priceless.
