Episode description

Whether you were first introduced to him on Vine where he was literally the most followed personality on the platform (17M followers and 6B loops to be exact), or you've laughed hysterically watching the infamous comedy sketches on his instagram page that boasts another 18M followers - its safe to say that Andrew Bachelor AKA King Bach is indeed, King. King of comedy? King of acting? King of music? King of the bitches? Check, check, check...check. On this episode, he breaks it all down: from his hilarious sketches on Instagram, to his latest film projects, to his history-making comedy album, Medicine...and of course, he dished on the ladies. In his words, Bach's Bitches. (How can you not love this guy?) I now also have a Bach signed pregnancy test that I plan to sell for 5 million dollars when he wins his first Oscar.

Welcome to Behind the Influence, a production of I Heart Radio and TDC Media. Why do you think your brain works that way? I have no idea. I think it's a disease. I tell everyone it's a disease. You're thinking about the songs, You're just laughing, you're enjoying it. And they say laughter is the best medicine, So I called it medicine. The movie we did was the most viewed movie in Netflix history when it came out. Just like, fuck you, I'm like, what did I do? You have

eighteen million followers. Congratulations on your stupid fucking life. The man sitting beside me initially made his mark by being the most followed human on Vine, with over seventeen million followers six billion loops to be exact, currently eighteen million followers on Instagram, over two million subscribers on YouTube. But he's not just a social media star, guys. He's successfully transitioned into mainstream media and is starring in several movies,

which we will get to. The first, my friend Andrew Bachelor a k a. King Batch, Boys and Girls. Yeah. I don't know if you remember this, but the time we spoke, you were on my Twitch show we were warning the kids not to get pregnant. Not sure why we were talking about that, but we were. And since then, you released a song called slang in D and I went on to have an actual baby. What's the baby's natas dope like the world. His shoe collection is next level.

Oh honey, I'm jealous of my own son. That's crazy. Dad might be icing him out with the shoe game because my husband's a little bit of a sneakerhead. So the kid, he's on point. Wow. Yeah, he should come hang out with Atlas. He would teach you a thing. Or can you hook me up with some shoes? Yeah? And the ladies, he can hook you up with the ladies to the ladies walk around m M yeah. Yeah. So I let my husband hit it and we had a child. That's amazing. It wasn't nice to me. Do

you guys hit it to my song? Definitely to slang in the D? Good good guy, slang dy, just slanged zy, slang dy, just slanga vy. There's so much we can do together. I feel like you together. It's a it would just be it would just be great. But for now we're going to just talk about you. The show is about you, and we're gonna kick it off. We're gonna get back to slang in the d Let's talk about the album that you dropped, because I was so impressed by that. There's so many layers to why I

liked it. First of all, I always tell people you're smart funny, they're stupid funny, and then they're smart funny, they're really smart funny. Thank you. And you wrote your songs. You know, you co wrote, you worked with some people, you collaborated, but most of it's all you. You're a comedic genius. So visually people got to see something in addition to hearing something funny. And then the extra layer.

Those songs have some sick beats. If you didn't listen to the lyric of like go get the comment, you'd be like, oh, this is a this is a dope beat, you know. So I actually saw some girls on Instagram posting videos of was it Blue Pantalonas where they're like popping their asses and the beat was good. It was It was an ass popping song. So many layers to this album. Why did you decide to do this? I know you were working on it for four years, so it's been in the works for a while. But what

inspired us. I just wanted to make music that people could enjoy, people to laugh and because the thing about laughing, right if if you're depressed, if you're going through a situation, when you laugh at something, you forget everything in the past, everything that you were worried about, and you're just you're in that present moment. You're laughing at that joke, so you forget everything else. That's what I love about comedy. So I made a home album that lets you just

stay in that state. You're thinking about the songs, you're just laughing, you're enjoying it. And they say laughter is the best medicine, So I called it medicine. I love that. I love that. So you had all these music videos put together, which we're not cheap. They look like top quality music videos that like Beyonce actually speaking Beyonce. A lot of people said it was the lemonade of right when that first came out and everybody was reacting to it.

Were you surprised by how much people like the album? Yeah, I was very surprised because even like Bieber reached out and he's like, ooh, you sound dope on the album. I was like, oh, thank you. I was like thank you. So it was yeah, it's it was definitely a shock and I was just so happy. And it went number one on iTunes and I was happy about that too, And it's just like it feels like I'm living in a dream. Yeah, And all these songs are like based

off of situations in my life. And it's kind of like how I make my YouTube videos and my my skits. It's like I'll have a situation that happens, and then I'll tell this situation and I'll exaggerate it, so like, for instance, the Believing one, up early in the morning eight and omelet Oh, I think I'm about to the vomit. I have a very weak stomach, like I go throughout

my days constantly trying not to throw up. Like that's just yeah, that ever since I was like seven years old, So I can throw up on que Like I did a movie one time, Where's the Money, And if you watch that, there's a throw up scene and I'm actually throwing up for real. The directors like, all right, so we're gonna do a throw up scene and uh, we got some vomit on set on standby, And I was like listen direct there, You're not gonna need the vomit.

I got this and he's like what, And I just said, call actually calls actually brow and I just threw up everywhere and it was disgusting for everyone. But that's a skill. Yeah, I guess it's a real skill. Yeah. So I just so I use that and we made a song about it. Yeah, so on your resume, vomits on, cue, vomits on. I mean, if I can think of a better out, you're on a bad date. Vomiting, you're in a bad interview. If I annoy you at any point in this conversation, just

puke on ship. Say Daddy, was that a pregnancy scare? You ain't Norman that weits little babies. Yeah, there's girls that always try and um make up lies to keep you trapped and keep you hooked. And yeah there was someone. You find out that this whole intro about Atlas was actually your son, and that's why you're on this show today. Swab swab your cheek kidding. Speaking of Say Daddy, I was listening to it and there's a part where I was like, damn, Batch has bars, But but it wasn't

you know, tell us who it was. That was King Los, King Los. I mean you came in with the hook very solidly, right, you came in and you supported. But at one point I was like, bachelorn to wrap two, I can I like that song? Yeah, King Lows, he's a he's an alien. His lyrics are just out of this world. And just watching him when we recorded that song, he didn't write anything down. He literally went in the studio and freestyle that whole verse. I don't know if

you've ever seen that. Um like those videos of those memes of those gifts or gifts whatever you want to call him of like of like people like looking at the numbers and they're like grab the numbers from and then they put it in like the equation, Like that's how they show their genius. Like when he's in the studio, he was literally like looking up and like grabbing words and just no way. Yeah. He saw his arm go up. Yeah,

I saw his spiritual arm. It's like that word that he's literally like looking up like this and he's like all right, yeah yeah, and he's just Alwa's like all right, play the beat, you know going. I'm like, whoa I filmed? So what made you decide to work with him. I've known him for a while, A huge fan of his freestyle. He did a freestyle, so the thing was sway in the morning, Oh, you gotta watch it. He killed it. He killed it, and I was like, oh, I gotta

work with this guy. We might just play it on the show from Atlanta. But I'm country, don't I'm from Baltimore. If you don't like me, my fingers safe for all of y'all. He said, Kango, Brooke, I got some hopping around because that's the thang. Due you have him, you had a couple of others. Poobert also was a collaboration. And how did that come to me? I met through a mutual friend and he has so many hits, pretty much all of Justin Bieber's hits. How how do those

collaborations come to be? Are you reaching out through friends or people finding out that you're working on this album, They're like, I want to jump on it. Literally we're just hanging out. I was like, yeah, I want to do music. I want to do comedy music. And then is like, yeah, I'm down to help out. So you head to the studio. What was the process like for you because you were obviously wearing lots of hats to release this piece of art. I mean basically it was

you have fifteen songs, fifteen songs, fifteen music videos. They're all releasing the exact same day. That's a lot of work and you're working on the lyrics. You are working on the creative side of being on a music video set. What was that like for you? How did you organize what's going to come first? How are we going to shoot this in time? How are we going to figure out this beat? What was that like? I feel like that's crazy. So um we had Tommy and b Harve Sasha,

they made the beats. I actually made two of the beats on the album. Um, I learned how to produce? Which two did you do? I did? Um? Uh, secrets on my left foot some time to be the band when I go to sleep and compliments. First up text I'm the biggest fan you never met. Just's me. Ain't nobody heard about you? If I had better bet you be next. The way it happens is we go to the studio and we just sit there and we talk and we actually have the audio. If you Canadians are nice.

I talked about how you know, there's been a whole bunch of like dis tracks, but it's never been a compliment track. So should do a song about like complimenting all the favorite rappers? So then I would just write down our list of my favorite rappers and then we figure out, like what's a positive about them? What's negative about them? When we try and flip it into a positive?

And yeah, that's how that would come about. I would go through my beats because I was I was making beats at that time, and I go through, say, Pooper, what would this beat? He's like, that's trash? What about this beat? That's trash? And then we finally figured out to beat that was good, and then we were just like, was that intimidating for you to work with people who

are I mean, you weren't just collaborating with anyone. You're collaborating with people that are respected in the music space, and you haven't really dabbled into this world too seriously, and here you are dropping this huge album with a visual what we're here? Initial thoughts when going into a studio with someone like Poohbert, but we are friends before, so you didn't have you were like, what's up? Poober let's go to the studio. Yeah, it was um and

he has his own studio. Do you call him poober? You call him by his real name, not h I call everybody by the Instagram name. Really doesn't ask you that about because obviously your name is Andrew. I always separate you as Andrew Bachelor, as the actor, and then King Batch, the social media personality. Would you say that's yeah? Yeah, but what do your friends call you? They all call you Batch? Yeah? What do your parents call you? They don't call me, They don't call him. You gotta turn

into a black and white What was that? What was that? The interview with Ben Affleck. We'll do that. Are you dooming Stephen? If not, you're fired. I'm just kidding. You have so much more going on than the album, and we're going to get into that. But before we move on, because I'm just so obsessed with everything. To me, it blew my mind that you were able to pull this. I'm not you, but anybody it's a big undertaking. We're

gonna play a little game called Batch or Beyonce. So I'm going to read a lyric and let's see how well you know your own lyrics, and mostly I just want to say a lot of your lyrics. So let's see, all right, and you should know the answers. If you're an authentic artist, you should just know. We'll know if you had a ghostwriter. You know what I'm saying. Okay, said I had a dope erection. Yeah, that's ling in d that's Batch baby, Okay, I ain't sorry, I ain't sorry.

I'm sorry. That's the I had to go. All right, yeah, all right in you, but it was it wasn't. I was dipping in and out these bitches like an oreo. That's King lost, tricked good. It hurts to be Vegan. That's your boy, Batch, pretty hurts, pretty hurts. Nah, that's Beyonce. You're right looking for a toilet. Oh, somebody break out the comment that's one of my relatable Yeah, everyone can relate. Pants when I'm sleeping, pants, when I'm woke, pants, when

I'm sneezing. You got the swag sauce, she dripping swag. Oo. You wish that was you, don't I wish that was swago. People say, now she made it happen like, yeah, my hand, my hand used to make me proud. So sad. That's that's sad. That's a breakup song. It's a sad, sad song. Your uber's outside, bitch, I gotta leave home. That's hit that hole in the head. Yeah, not nothing too hard. But if you watch the video, I never touched the hole. You would never touch an all like that. I had

my maid touched the hope the maid did the dirty work. Yes, you just gave the orders. I gave the orders. That's what you do, you give orders. Now seems like a really good time to take a little break, guys, but we're gonna be right back. In the meantime. I'm going to have Batch sign a few things that are sitting in front of him. You may be wondering Batch, why, first response pregnancy test, a pair of blue pantalonas blue

Pantalona blue. And there's a vegan smoothie in front of you. Okay, so this is a vegan after workout beverage that is just delicious. It's called a prey So wait, can I drink this now? I brought you some, But this is for a giveaway. Calm down, no I have. We're gonna give it away to your biggest fans, assigned. I'm my biggest fan. Assigned pregnancy test, a pair of blue pants, and a box of a prey and if you are into it, I have a box fare. I don't want to push it on you because I hate push products

on people. I think that's so lame, but it's delicious. So I brought you sign you just sign it while we're on the break. Right back, guys, I sign it as King Batch or and you back whatever your soul is feeling. As you touched the marker organic, Yes, I did it as Will Smith. What are you met? So we're back. We had a lot of fun on this break watching Batch signed the pants, signed the pregnancy test,

and and the vegan beverage I Prey. As I mentioned, you've been super successful in social media as an influencer, you know, YouTube, star, Vine, star But the one thing you've done that has been really impressive is successfully transitioning into mainstream. A lot of people have transitioned. I would say for a short period of time, they'll get an opportunity, but then the opportunity doesn't come back. Right. You have not only created opportunities for yourself, but you've also opened

so many doors in the film world. And I know that it's always been a bucketless for you to be one of the biggest movie stars in the world. And I think you're well on your way. You're clearly talented, you're smart, and you know all the right people. How has it been transitioning from being a social media star? I hate using that term. It makes me kind of like, you know what I mean, because you're so much more.

I don't want to but you are an influencer and behind the influence, so funny, I hate that term, but like the show is all about influence, but you actually have influence, and your influence I think has given you a platform too then transition. Like you've been talented, that's a given, but there's a lot of talented people that don't have the doors open for them. So I think you created this opportunity for yourself by building a relationship with your fans and building a platform. And now you've

transitioned and you're doing great. How has it been for you transitioning and how have your fans been dealing with it? Yeah, it's been great. So the movie we did, The Babysitter that's on Netflix, was the most viewed movie in Netflix history when it came out. So the fans have been loving it. They're doing a sequel to that. They are Wait aren't they? Oh wow, we think but I died in the first one. Wait not say that I was trying to pretend like they did. That's stupid. Wait that

would have been a nice surprise. Deadline just blew it, deadline cover whatever. So you're going to be in the sequel? Yeah, I'm going to be the sequel. How is that going to happen if you died? I can't say yeah, I shouldn't say Jesus just returning. I don't want to Tom Holland, you know, I don't want to give it out. But obviously the first one was super successful. Yeah. Do you think that you had a lot to do with its success? I would like to say that it's it's a team effort,

of course. You know, the whole cast was great. It's such a fun time. So not just babysitter. You have a lot of other things going on. You just finished filming in Greenland. Yes, Jerard Butler, Butler legend. How is it working with him? He's the best, He's the best. I learned a lot from from working with him, just like he's so naturally, so calm, so easy going. Yeah. Thing.

I filmed like five movies this year, one TV show and I got two more to film too, So I leave next week or no, I leave on the tenth. This week filming a movie with Diane Keaton. And I saw the picture of you and Diane Keaton on your Instagram and I was like, holy sh it, she's an icon. She's the best. She comes out of her. She's like you and like me, She's like fuck you. I'm like, what did I do? It's like, you have eighteen million followers,

congratulations on your stupid fucking life. Come over here and take a picture with me so I can get followers. I love that she said that. I love that because, you know, she's thinking like she was. She was brought up in a world where Instagram, social media didn't matter, so she's like, what's what is this? So that must have been such a surreal moment to take a photo of her. And also it's kind of proving that you're

you're not just doing these random C list movies. You're working with Drard Butler, you know, I mean, you are working with real names in Hollywood. Yeah, that's crazy. I did a movie with uh Ed Helms and um and it was it was great work watching watching him work as well. And out of all the people I've worked with, Ed Helms is one of the nicest people on the earth. Like he's so nice, he's so down to earth, you know, he goes in, he does his work, he just gets

it done, and he treats everybody with respect. So he's he's one of the greatest that I've worked with. So you're working with all these amazing people. Have you taken a piece of advice for many of the people on set, because obviously you're learning and you're always gonna learn as you're doing this, and you're going to continue to flourish in this world. Any piece of advice you've gotten that's been really invaluable from somebody who's like an O G. Yeah,

I've gotten advice from so many people. Kevin Hart, he tells me, always always keep creating, you know, because your fans they want to see you, they want to see you create. Ed Helms tells me that when you select projects, select them if you like the material and also who's involved, you know, like you know, me doing movies with Gerard Butler only helps me. Diane Keaton only helps me. Gerard Butler, he tells me to have fun, enjoy, make sure you

know you really dive in and enjoy the process. Yeah, it's it's just so much on the topic of that. So Diane Keaton walks out and he's like, yes, stay about life. She's obviously joking and she's so sweet. But have you ever felt like you've had to prove yourself extra because you come from the space of influencers social media or do you think that people they know your work ethic and they see because you're basically putting out little movies on your Instagram. Anyway, the way I look

at it is it's kind of underground. So you've heard of the term SoundCloud rapper, right, So we all know what SoundCloud is, but we probably don't know any SoundCloud rappers. That's how it is. In the traditional space. It's like they've heard of Instagram, but no one really knows any Instagram famous people like in the traditional space because they're worried about watching the movies and it's like how it opens and what the competition is. That's what they're focused on.

So their Instagram is IMDb, It's Deadline, That's that's their Instagram, that's what they look at daily. So when I'm on set, people sometimes don't even know, like okay, some yeah they know, like the directors will know, but the actors they won't know, and it won't be until like we should have seen outside, and then there's a whole bunch of kids they're like, oh, King Batch. And then was like, why so many people

come here to take a picture with you. I try not to say I just because I just don't really like the attention like that. But but when they do find out, like what eighteen million? How because it's crazy because some of the biggest A listeners that you could name that have done classic movies do not have a fraction of the followers you have, So for them, it's probably just so shell shocking. Yeah you know what I mean. Yeah, it's it's just so crazy. And I really really love

that you just keep booking and booking. Every time we have tried to get to you on a show, they're like, he's filming a movie this week, and it anna and then like next week he's over here and I'm like, oh my god. When does Batch sleep? When do you sleep? Do you sleep? What is sleep? I feel like you sleep. You seem like a you're a healthy dude, like you you cut it off and you you have balance. Um yeah,

I just had to throw that out. It's hard because my brain is constantly is constantly working and I just love to work. Like when I was doing that movie with Ed Helms, I was filming two movies at the same time. So I was filming in Vancouver and then on the weekend I would fly to Atlanta and film another movie, filming that one with Emma Roberts, and then I would fly back to finish it off. So yeah, and right now I'm filming this Diane Keaton movie in

Boston and then I have to fly back here. So that's the reason I'm here now, because we're doing prep for the Babysitter to know you're You're here because of the show, yes, of course, just behind the influence. Yeah yeah, so that that's crazy. And then on top of all these films that you're showing up for and being a part of your also putting content on your own channels, your Instagram is you constantly skits going up. Yeah, I got a joker parody coming on Wednesday, Thursday, one of

those days. That's exciting. Yeah. I guess the question is, as you're transitioning, are you going to continue to do content on your own platforms? Yes? And the reason I say that is because I have no say about it. It's my brain. When I was in Vancouver filming Coffee and Kareem That's the movie at Helms, I was like, you know what for this, I'm out here for two months, I'm just gonna not film anything. I'm just gonna go

to set work and then just chilling, relax. And then I couldn't do it, like my brain wouldn't allow me to. And I just like called up somebody and I was like, I have this idea. I made a song, recorded the song, and shot the music video on my iPhone, all in less than a day, and I edit it and uploaded all in less than a day. Why do you think your brain works that way? I have no idea. I think it's a disease. I tell everyone it's a disease. But what would you say? Are you just somebody that

constantly wants to be creating content? Are you somebody that can't really sit still? Are you do you feel like if you're sitting around you're wasting time? No? I don't feel like that at all. I never I would love to just sit around, but it's just like you can't turn it off. I can't, Like it's just always just going. It's just like come on, do this, do that, and I'm like no, I don't want to. And it's like come on, all right, here I go your brains like

let's go, and you're like noah, yeah, yeah, that's awesome. Okay, So now is another time for a break. We're going to take another quick little break, but we're gonna be right back with Batch and we're gonna get personal. Oh yeah, we're gonna get real all up in your ship, all up in it. And by his ship, I mean his phone. We're going through your phone. So definitely stick around. All right, guys, we're back and as I promise, we're gonna get personal.

Batch is very nervous. I'm so nervous. I am sweating. I have but this is my nervous voice. He's profousely sweating shirt to see through. Now. Obviously Batch has seen a lot of success and the people listening right now are huge fans of you. You have eighteen million people who just just on Instagram alone are paying attention to your every move, and it looks like you're getting movie roles, and you have really cool friends around and beautiful girls.

By the way, you constantly have beautiful girls around. Who's the girl? There's one girl that I think is so pretty? Can I do this right? What is her name? Is it Jocelyn? I think she's like the most beautiful girl on planet Earth. We might cut this part out because I want to sound so lame. But every time you post videos, I'm like, this girl is just like magic. Should we Facetimer? Let's see we're getting personal, right, But now I'm getting nervous. I don't know. You just flipped

the script on me. What's facetimer? Oh, she's in bed. We're on an interview right now. You are on the your on iHeart radio. Wait, how is she even pretty when she's just answered the phone out of bed? This is what I'm talking about. Are you guys seeing this? She's really pretty? All right? I'm the creep who called you pretty in an interview that has nothing to do with you. Oh. Thanks, It's not mine, but I bought it and I paid for it, so it is mine.

It's definitely mine. I don't know the origin though, all right, we'll let you go back to sleep. Okay. So so just proof in the pudding. Also, most girls would not answer the phone. People are just answering the phone for you. Anyway. This is another top This is a topic for another another episode. That's another And then I'm like, who else do I have a crush on? Who else? You know? Amanda was on our other show, the Twitch Show too.

She's also definitely a babe, and she works hard. I gotta say when she came in, I was like, this girl. She had no makeup on, and I was like, this girl's gorgeous and she's so sweet and she's such a hard worker. I was thinking about who in the influencer space works as hard as you. I feel like she's up there. Oh yeah, I think she works harder than me. She's always doing something, and she's super successful at all the things she tries as well. I love that. I

love that. And you guys collaborate a lot. You just have successful people around you. That's how you do it. Would you think that that's would you say that's the secret to success. You got to keep people around you that work harder, think harder, and are like in a better position they always say you should be the dumbest person in the room. Yeah, let's get into your phone because I know we only have a couple more minutes left before you have to run off to another movie set,

private jet with all the hot bitches. Okay, all the hot batches, all the hot bitches for Batch. Okay, So we're gonna end this interview with the game. I said, we're gonna get all up in your ship, and by ship, I mean your phone. It's really straightforward. You just need to answer the questions and you know, keep it real with us, Batch. All right, last thing, you text message. You don't have to tell us who, but just read it to us that I sent you sent a text message. Okay,

this is five. So let me see if I have anything before that. Okay, here we go. I'm getting a hotel tomorrow because my parents are coming in town and they're going to stay in my room. But maybe we can do dinner tomorrow if you're free. But I love that was such a gentlemanly thing. You weren't like, I'm getting a hotel room soup coming through. Yeah, you were just like, so we can grab dinner at an appropriate time, like seven fifteen I made a reservation on open tables.

You didn't say that, No, I didn't, but you want it, But that was the intention. I love that. Okay. Last thing you text messaged Amanda Sni for all of you that don't know which Amanda I'm referencing, but uh, is there another Amanda? H h a ha ha. That was like a ha ha. It wasn't an l O L. So you're not a l O L or you're a ha ha yeah, just like are you really laughing? Are you just like saying l O L the serious face?

I can't stand that. And especially when you see someone typing l O L and they're like this, like you didn't even smile. No pathetic. It's their liars out there about you. There are so many liars. The last thing you ordered on Postmates, okay, it's probably condoms and I'm just kidding. You can't order condoms. Oh I ordered last night of Crape from Crave. How was it? Delius? Great? And I'm happy for you. Last picture you took, let's see, oh,
